You mean I should FOMO right now?
What is your strategy for the investment? - For trading, FOMO is usually not good, but you can buy others' FOMO and trade profitably. - For believing that Monero will rock the world, think of it as having a 50M USD marketcap!! Any rocking of anybody's monetary system requires a market cap 1,000 times that big (in reality a million times, but that much profit is hard to comprehend), so it absolutely does not matter at all whether you buy after a doubling move, just do it! - BUT since the upside is so large, it does not matter if you wait either If you have any reason to believe you can buy cheaper with accumulation strategy etc, just do it! If you don't have any experience trading/timing XMR, just do it! My investment strategy is to buy and hold... I think at the very least Monero should have a market cap over $100M and it shouldn't be too difficult to get there. You're right, it doesn't matter when I get in but I'm afraid of being a bag holder or waiting years to see any gains. I've accumulated BTC since early 2013 and for the amount I have I was expecting to have made significant profits by now, maybe even gain financial freedom. But now BTC is stagnant with uncertainties of a HF due to blocksize drama and threats of new alts like XMR taking over. The potential was clear as day, it is with XMR too, but even with clear fundamentals the price seems to do whatever it wants

I think those of us who watched the bull/bear p!ssing matches, the FUD storms, the hacks, ddos attacks, and scams that were the bitcoin scene in 2013 have a pretty good idea what to expect... If you are from the post-gox era, please try simulating 2013 using the wall observer thread. That is basically the worst-case scenario coming up for the Monero community. You have been warned.
Huh? All I've been hearing is good news... what is this worst case scenario?

Ain't this just a pump still just like how any coins can do? The graph on bittrex seem to have come down now. I does seem like users are already dumping it. Dark market don't matter to you if you are not in the shady business so this coin must really be for them only.
bitcoin was around $100 when its primary use was in Silkroad

It depends of you. People're trying to fill their bags before 1 september as much as it's possible.
Yup, definetely demand will be here. However, I am not sure how long it takes until we can start to see Monero price rising and get finally Monero to the bullish trend (still ATH from 2014 is untouched). Wasn't the ATH 0.01? It looks like it almost touched it

Bad time to get into Monero??

I bought in with the current hype at 0.0087 which is pretty typical, Bought almost 500 of them but im starting to panic a bit now. Hopefully once it gets above that a bit i will just dump these and try and take a small amount of profit. Maybe it will go up in the future but its too risky atm with no sign of a gui or anything.
Monero price is evolving inside a symmetrical triangle continuation pattern: [img]https://bitcoinnewsmagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/xmrbtc82416.png[img] If you want to keep your position open just set your sell stop (you did place a sell stop right?) just below the low price defined by the triangle. Right now that would be sell stop at .0074. At some point in time price will break out of the triangle. If to the upside you win and your sell stop protects you if price breaks down. Ive not set a stop order yet, Im hoping it wont drop that low or else thats about .5btc down the drain if it does go as low as 0.0074. I bought initially while it was (or appeared) to be still rising so didnt bother with any stop orders. I will probably be happy getting back my initial amount now =p . you win some you lose some i suppose. I hope it does drop below 0.0074 hehe, so I can buy in 0.5 BTC is nothing

Maybe he accumulate when the price was 0.003, now he has tripled the btc worth of holding. Maybe it was even earlier. You can thank Bitcoin Core for crippling Bitcoin's ability to scale for motivating me to take a look at alt coins. From Bitcoin Jesus to Bitcoin HATER

The reason is obvious. ETH will eventually fuck up again with a DAO type of disaster, and they will need to hard fork again. They also need to go PoS, which creates uncertainty. This will make ETC pump.
If that's all you're relying on then that is highly risky... who knows if/when ETH will have another DAO-type disaster... or if they'll ever HF again so soon, they're pretty much dead in their reputation if they do. ETC can also fuck up and have other disasters, especially with less devs supporting it

Should I buy Monero NOW? You should buy Monero if you like the technology, feel that Bitcoin won't incorporate similar features in the near term and find the price to reflect an expansion of use based upon the technical underpinnings. Also, this is all risky. Only invest what you can afford to lose. I'm tired of investing in what I can "afford to lose"... I want to invest an amount that would be LIFE CHANGING if that investment pays off. What does it mean by "afford to lose" I don't have debt or bills that I'm worried about. I can lose $10K and be okay, but I certainly dont wipe my ass with $10K so I can't say I can "afford to lose it" like it's chump change. With Monero... I do think it will gain use as a darkmarket currency. The dev team seems competent and dedicated, and I can see a lot of money flowing into it over the coming years. All this can change overnight though. Yes, BTC can incorporate similar features, the devs can leave for whatever reason among other things that will kill the price. I want to speculate on XMR but right now its a scary spot to get in when the coin just pumped without a correction...... what do?

Is there any reason ETC should pump again other than bagholders wanting it to pump? All the devs are supporting ETH... ETC looks like something that will slowly die out
XMR on the other hand... yeah it just had a pump... but in crypto land a 100-200% rise is nothing. If this coin is going to become more popular and gain valid use in the darknet markets then there should be more pumps to follow. I don't know if a correction will happen right now or if it'll have another leg or two up before the correction..
