I do not, I don't even know who Vegeta is (well, I understand that he is some kind of comic figure, but that's all I know). And I also do not know the thing with hashtag, seriously.

https://blog.hootsuite.com/social-media-glossary-definitions/

A hashtag is a word or phrase preceded by the '#' sign. Hashtags are used on social media to tag posts as part of a larger conversation (such as #HODL) or topic (such as #Bitcoin). Clicking a hashtag reveals the latest posts that include the tag. Hashtags are searchable, and serve a similar role to keywords.

hey Arrie..welcome to the internet

Seriously? hashtags are clickable? I had no idea. Thanks for the information.
And for your information, I was introduced to the internet in 2000 and there was no damn hashtags back then Smiley

To be honest, I was introduced to the internet in the late 80s and I still don't fully understand what a hashtag is supposed to mean. I guess it means actually keyword as explained by Toxic2040, but it strikes me as blatant abuse of the hash char for marketing purposes and to hide the fact that social media is totally unorganised and totally unsuitable for actual information retrieval.

It is said, that the hastag idea at Twitter originated from IRCs channel names.

[Edit]: Sorry, again late to the discussion and still catching up.

503  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] Crex24 sudden KYC - while Crex24 wishes to stay anonymous on: April 28, 2020, 11:43:57 AM
Again, thanks to all for your support.

How providing social media profiles is going to speed up the verification? Soon exchanges will start to ask for the underwears size.

@psycodad
It's not going to help you but this platform is from Estonia and they started to bother users with KYC since a story with HTMLcoin recently and with users accusing them to hide a hack.

Thanks for your hint regarding Estonia, it is helpful to know they are in the EU. Probably it's an E-residency company. Upon checking the business register of Estonia I found this:

https://ariregister.rik.ee/lihtparing.py?rkood=14419665&search=1

The address listed interestingly seems in an apartment building:

https://www.city24.ee/en/real-estate/apartments-for-rent/Tallinn-Kesklinna-linnaosa/1370177

Under the very same address, there is another exchange registered obviously:

https://www.ilexexchange.com/

Oh, wait, there's a lot more going on in this apartment obviously:

https://crex24.cc/

https://www.maxiunit.com/

https://bitexfin.com

https://cst-exchange.ru

https://gtoxy.com/

https://www.pfser.com

https://iqexchange.com

https://cryptoorange.com/

And I just stopped there, might fill an evening or two to list all entities registered at that address.

Here is what I found regarding the company:

http://www.infoproff.com/en/companies/regcard/EST8048562/14419665

Again, interestingly the company seems not to have some kind of financial license as it says in above URL:
Quote
Activities: "Other business support service activities not classified elsewhere"

Quite ironically they are asking for KYC from people, and yet they don't even have anything that talks about the team behind them or the address of the company behind the exchange >Sad

They also locked the r=thread when things got heated up: Crex24.com - Cryptocurrency Exchange [Official Thread]

I have supported both flags opened against them. I negged them too.

Okay, you are probably in right, but did you know about this(December 3rd, 2019): https://twitter.com/Crex_24/status/1201822589771026432
Code:
From January 1st, 2020 all EU users will be required to complete mandatory KYC verification in accordance with the 5th EU AML Directive.
Note: Crex24 operates in all countries except the UK, USA, Canada and Israel.
https://ec.europa.eu/info/business-economy-euro/banking-and-finance/financial-supervision-and-risk-management/anti-money-laundering-and-counter-terrorist-financing_en
OP has not confirmed, if they are from the EU. as far as I know mandatory KYC is not Crex whimsy, it is an official law.

I have again checked my email archive, and I never received an announcement from Crex24 regarding newly implemented KYC. I logged in there about every 10days and I only noticed this restriction on my account last week.

I am not from the EU and given Crex24 is in the EU as LeGaulois says, they break about a dozen of laws, starting with GDPR but also ODR (Online Dispute Resolution). If one actually had an address, one could sue them. Though I am considering to report them to Estonian authorities.

Asking for KYC without revealing your own identity is simply criminal behaviour, at least in Europe and also in my country.

Thank you for your support IconFirm.

I am loosely following DEX developments but until now I kept postponing my first steps in this area (out of laziness I guess).
But you are right, that recent experience with Crex24 might be a good motivation to start looking more into it and your recommendation for bisq is well noted.

Thank you Rikafip for your reply and supporting my flag.

I have no hope to get my balance back since I refuse to complete KYC with an anonymous organisation that most likely will sell my address and they made clear that it's absolutely mandatory to withdraw (since a bit more than a week).

507  Economy / Scam Accusations / [SCAM] Crex24 sudden KYC - while Crex24 wishes to stay anonymous on: April 27, 2020, 09:48:21 AM
What happened::

In Dec 2018 I opened an account at crex24.com and was able to deposit and trade ARI and MEC. I regulary tested if I *could* withdraw, but waited until I have enough BTC to make up for the withdrawal fee.

When I recently logged in last week to put some sell orders for above Altcoins I had deposited, I couldn't place any orders or withdraw anything and was presented with a truely worrying KYC procedure asking for a wealth of personal data. I have not received any advanced information or warning from them.

Crex24 wants me/you to submit:

  • photo of current ID / driver license
  • social media profile (not mandatory, but very much recommended)
  • selfie holding ID card used + signature
  • two different utility bills, though they seem to prefer credit card and bank statements
  • complete address

I was about to bite the bullet, when it came to two different proof of residence documents, at which point I spontaneously wondered with whom I am dealing with here. So being confident that an exchange asking for so much KYC information certainly has a legal address listed on their website I started searching. Turns out they haven't, the best information you can find in their web page is

Quote from: Crex24 about us

Our Customer Support Team speaks English and Russian.

(Archived Apr 26 2020: https://archive.is/aHBBy)

So I mailed support asking for their legal address and received the following reply:

Hello

How would you rate my reply?
Good Just ok Not good

Regards,
Crex24 Support Team

After that I demanded that I receive my coins back without KYC which naturally was refused.

The issue is that I am suddenly asked to do KYC with a lot of personal details but crex24 itself is refusing to even display a legally valid business address of themselves.

I have registered my account in Dec 2018 and deposited coins into your exchange under totally different provisions and since I am unwilling to do KYC with an unknown party I am now requesting my balance to be sent to me and my account being closed after that, notably without doing your very much detailed KYC procedure.

Hello

How would you rate my reply?
Good Just ok Not good

Regards,
Crex24 Support Team

The Crex24 replies did not quote my previous mails, I have edited that in for easier understanding. Though the textual content is absolutely unchanged.

Additional Notes:
Crex24 asks you for the most detailed KYC that I have ever witnessed (and I've done a few meanwhile), while not even giving you their basic information like a business address. The details of information they request and the lack of detail they are willing to reveal about themselves is deeply worrying and hints to something more sinister.

Flag:
I have also raised a flag against Crex24 and would like to ask you to consider it for supporting or opposing:

508  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Official FutureBit Apollo LTC Image and Support thread on: April 26, 2020, 09:59:57 AM
FYI Have been getting a lot of questions for customers that have more than one Apollo. If you have a single accessible internet connection, you only really need to upgrade one Apollo. You can only port forward connections from the outside world to one node on your internal network.

So if your only want to run a node for just strengthening the network and adding more visible nodes to the world you only need to update one (unless you have more locations you can host, for example another home or work etc).

If your going to take advantage of upcoming features like wallet support and solo mining then you will need the full node running on all Apollos, but thats for the future so right now that simple answer is that you dont need to upgrade all, but at the very least you should update one of them.

As a side note we have already made it to page one...hope we see us at the very least be the #2 or #3 most popular node on the litecoin network in the coming weeks!

https://blockchair.com/litecoin/nodes

While it certainly doesn't make a lot of sense to run two or more nodes at the same location, it should be easily possible by i.e. forwarding port 9333 to the first node, having the second one listen on for example 19333 and forwarding that port to the 2nd node, etc.

AFAIK when a node connects to other nodes it not only tells its IP but also it's listening port. On the other hand I remember that most wallets do only connect to one node in a given C-class network, so other nodes would possibly only connect to either one of your nodes.

Again though jstefanop is totally right, it's not really meaningful to run two nodes at the same IP.

you guys get your disinfectant injections yet?

I think Imma swallow a light bulb while I'm at it.

gotta be real lightbulbs, no fake LED lightbulbs with fake light.

and chew thoroughly 1st.

I guess the basic principle would be to have a little sunshine deep inside you which sounds like a solid plan to kill the virus.
Swallowing a little UV light might be easier though, especially since you have to unscrew the bulb for maximum safety before eating it therefor making the inner sunshine a bit less shiny.

Vampire theme or just movies?  Funny themed or just blood and gore?

Bloodsucking Bastards is not bad..of course the older classics like Shaun of the Dead...

more input required

Old sci-fi?

Total recall (1990 version with Arnold-Lots of action)
Dune
Blader Runner (Original, a classic)
2001: A Space Odyssey (a bit of aging around the edges, but still quite watchable)
Starship troopers

More recent:

Arrival (2016 movie by Villeneuve-more reflective)
Contact (by Zemeckis-still good)
Blade Runner 2049

freejack (with mick jagger lol but was pretty good)
johnny mnemonic
forbidden planet

Sorry for my late reply.
Watched Venom last week, and I really loved it. Nice dark humor.

remove  blocks & chainstate

download part 1, part 2 from :
https://github.com/iobond/aib/releases

then :
cat aib-block-2211080.tar.gz.xz.00? > aib-block-2211080.tar.gz.xz
xz -d aib-block-2211080.tar.gz.xz
tar xf aib-block-2211080.tar.gz

config aib.conf :

connect = 104.238.153.71:31415
then start aibd

after on the right chain then could remove the connect if necessary.

Thanks for your reply.
I can confirm I am now on same height as block explorer and my desposits show up on stex.

What is the current wallet version or github tag to use?

I am getting
Code:
"warnings": "Warning: Unknown block versions being mined! It's possible unknown rules are in effect"

TIA

We have attemp a failed upgrade to 0.17. so now down grage to 0.13 for now for stable version.

Thanks, but with v5.13.3.17 I am unable to deposit coins into stex and master doesn't compile on any of my platforms:

Code:

Check the master branch or aib-5.14 branch.
Version inside should be v5.13.3.14
there is a build-linux.sh script

later we might buid a dockerfile for easier build from souce for AIB .

Thank you, I compiled from git tag v5.13.3.14, deleted the blockchain and resynched from scratch.

Deposits are still not going to stex and while my block height is # 2409994, the block explorer shows a height of # 2302253.

I guess there are a number of forks running meanwhile and I am unsure on how to get synched properly to send my coins to stex.

HodL - A Bitcoin Short Film by The Garcia Brothers

Will a public address be considered valid by the Bitcoin network if the last character is left out? Seems FUD.

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Address
Quote
The probability that a mistyped address is accepted as being valid is 1 in 232, that is, approximately 1 in 4.29 billion.

I don't think any wallet would accept that as a valid address. The 1 in 4.29 billion you're talking about is assuming you have the right number of characters for that address format. The last 4 bytes are a checksum. If you mistype, there is a 1 in 4.29 billion chance the checksum might still be valid.

Perfect explanation, have a merit on me!

That said, me understanding little to nothing about that math thing behind BTC, visually confirms addresses (i.e. after copy-pasting) by comparing the first and the last four characters.

^ What happened in 1976 Jimbo, genuinely interested.

Quit my last employee job to travel and play music full-time.

Great, congratulations for that decision.

My basic motto is: Once they close the coffin over you and you get asked if it was ok, your answer should be a straight and bold "YES!" (yes, I know they don't close it if you're still answering weird questions, still you get the idea).
If it is not or only a "Yes, but.." , you have to do these things that it takes to give a straight "YES!" just right now.
As an added benefit: No fear from death, because you've done already all you wanted and are enjoying free bonus rounds in the game of life.

No problem there, every link you will see has been background checked in "the cloud" (TM) by MS Defender before you are even able to click it.

That way it happily unsubscribes you from badly designed mailing lists, buys you overly expensive TP etc.

It is not the worst product detection-wise, but it is a total privacy nightmare (like every other major AV).

Otherwise: Fighting pop-ups with an AV is like squashing flies with a sledge-hammer.

I knew it, you're a psycho, dad. Tongue

All solutions have pros and cons, but what would the easiest and optimal solution be, for a guy like Ibian.

Well, I'd recommend handwriting letters, would also lower the post frequency a tad.

On a more serious note, I never used an AV since the mid 90s and never catched anything, so I can't advise.

AV's give some false sense of security, more or less a digital snake oil. But most/all catch only a fraction of the nasties out there while massively invading your privacy.

I still have a few hundred samples that kiddies dropped on my honeypot ~5yrs ago and you need at least a dozen different AV products to detect over 90% of them.

But if you are happy if every link you get by email or in web sites that is looking suspicious to an AI is fetched by an AWS* instance to be run through a malware detonation chamber and most certainly getting archived, MS Defender is probably fine for you.
Though I'd strongly advise against using such a computer for dealing with your crypto moneys (because, umm, somebody is randomly clicking links on your behalf).

* Yes, MS is using Amazon not Azure for this, they think they can outsmart the bad guys this way *lol* - bad guys have IP lists of all these instances from most AVs.

519  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 04, 2020, 06:39:03 AM
While on this tangent, what's a decent free antivirus? Sick of popups and ads.

I believe Windows Defender that ships with Win 10 is a respectable product in its own right. Not sure there is a need for further antivirus solutions unless you are looking for protection against more esoteric threats.

Also, stop clicking so many random URLs, you absolute dingus.  Kiss

You mean the same court where you are going to prove that god made all DNA?
I am sure this will be literally a hell of an event.
