501  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Attention Coinmakers (X11, Scrypt) on: April 10, 2014, 05:01:31 AM
I agree with this. x11 is good as it gives everyone a fair go at mining it now and in the future hopefully it can move to ASIC's as they do bring a lot of benifit to the network. I would love to see a pos x11 coin!
502  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Proof of Stake Investment - NVC/HBN/PHS/TEK/and more on: April 10, 2014, 04:58:52 AM
I'm still here...

I've been doing A LOT of portfolio work recently.
An update -
NVC - I liquidated all of mine back when it hit 0.0118 - I will not open any new positions
HBN - With the climb of HBN I have sold ~30K. Holding ~33K
PHS & TEK - Have not touched.

I have taken my profits and put a lot of it into projects on Cryptostocks.com
I have "diversified" my portfolio with Mining Projects, Trade Projects, and Pool Projects

I feel this gives me a broader "investment" and the returns are:
- comparable to HBN
- In BTC - which is easier to swap/reinvest

I think with some of your returns it may be a good idea to go back to hobonickels (Buy high sell higher xD) because they seem to be in a fairly good position where they can move around a lot in price but always hold a fair price. That way you could leave it staking for 100 days or something and come back to a fairly good price imo.
503  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Proof of Stake Coin List on: April 10, 2014, 04:54:48 AM
probably a totally dumb question but if I don't ask I'll never know (and probably 100 other newbies that are too afraid to look dumb)

What happens when POS coins are held on an exchange?

The exchange takes the PoS generally. Usually if you believe in a coin you should have it in your wallet anyway. If the coins arent in your wallet you don't really own them, they are like IOU's
504  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coins with active devs, per Heartbleed bug example on: April 10, 2014, 04:43:59 AM
It's good to see a lot of good devs out there actually working on their coins, it really shows which coins may be worth investing in if you ask me.
505  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Drinking and trading do not mix! on: April 10, 2014, 04:41:05 AM
Ah man that sucks, try trading sober now on eh? Atleast you managed to make up for part of it.
506  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Script-OG better than X11? on: April 10, 2014, 02:31:39 AM
The coin AIDEN appeared suddenly and I'm wondering how much better (if at all) Script-OG is than X11. Any thoughts?

I like the sound of Scrypt OG better but I am not sure if it is better. Maybe when a few more alts come out we can compare. I just hope Scrypt ASIC's arent compatible...
507  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reviving faded coins on: April 10, 2014, 12:47:29 AM
I have thought about doing this for a little while to one particular coin although there is not much I can do. It is already pow/pos and has really good features, it just isnt picked up by the community. I was thinking about starting a few places that accept the coin although this can be really expensive. Maybe I could write a few articles and get it accepted in shops already out there. What do you guys reccon is a good way to do this?
508  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GOLD] BitGold | PoS | Launched | Rare on: April 10, 2014, 12:43:23 AM
the OP has delivered so far.  the only thing left now is the big dun dun dun...exchange rates.

That's the one. Hopefully we can get some things up soon. The smaller exchange didnt get back to us.
We are on mintpal voting! https://www.mintpal.com/voting

510  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: BitGold trading thread - selling 31.25 GOLD | Extremely rare coin! on: April 09, 2014, 12:48:33 PM
Glad to see some trading going on, I really have faith in this coin. Remember each .5 is equal to a whole block which also means 1 coin is 10 minutes mining on the WHOLE network. Deffinately a good investment imo.
511  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: **MUST READ** NobleCoin Founder addresses "The State of Alt Cryptocurrency." on: April 09, 2014, 12:43:20 PM
A very interesting read indeed. I actually look forward to many waves of currencies coming out, each one usually brings new things to the table. For example many new algorithms have popped up as a result of the many coins being released everyday.
512  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CGB News Beat Contest! Win Cryptogenic Bullion!!! on: April 09, 2014, 12:36:32 PM
How can we submit articles if we do not use reddit? When does the competition close? Do we get critiqued on our grammar and such?

Great questions! If you do not use Reddit, you can still enter by posting here. I will cross post to Reddit. The competition goes through this Sunday the 13th (may extend if absolutely necessary). At that point I would like to allow 1 week for voting and review and then announce the winners around Monday the 21st. I can correct grammar and spelling if necessary, mainly looking at content here.

Alright, also who is the article aimed at? People familiar with cryptogenicbullion, people who don't know about it or people who arent familiar (Or not much) with even bitcoin?

Target audience is those not yet familiar with CGB but please allow for the possibility of little to no knowledge of even Bitcoin.

Alrigjt, I will get started on it in the morning. How big is it supposed to be?
513  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The future of alternate coins.. on: April 09, 2014, 12:16:49 PM
To be honest I hope some altcoins do stay around and keep going up in price. Niche based coins (If effort is put into them) can really open up a whole new market. (For example buying Gold Bullion with CGB etc.) to an extent ofcourse. (Inb4 mcdonaldscoin)

515  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who are the smartest altcoin minds on: April 09, 2014, 12:08:32 PM
I would definitely say sunny king, he has created the whole pos system which went on to be used in coins like nxt.

Well one thing is for certain, he will either be at the top of the list, or bottom of the list after checkpoints are removed.  I would prefer the conspiracy theory be true of Sunny King, Bcnext, and Satoshi all being the same person, cranking out endless amounts of scam coins, and going down as the greatest pump and dump master of all time.

I havent actually heard that one... Where could I read about it? xD
That would be pretty interesting if it where real, when does the movie get made? Cheesy
516  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bytecoin (BCN) CPU-mining economics on: April 09, 2014, 12:06:36 PM
Interesting, maybe I could try get GPU and CPU mining going at the same time. Is there a list of CPU speeds etc?
517  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: April 09, 2014, 12:02:01 PM
Would the blackcoin community be interested in an online wallet/android wallet? I could probably get one going if the interest is big enough.

Yes and Yes!

Definitely yes. I would contact rat4 or soeipk

Good to hear. I will try and get in contact with them soon. Which one would you guys prefer most?

you can find Soepkip here now:

http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=%23blackcoinpool&uio=d4

Thanks for that. I will get started on this soon, hopefully it all goes well.

519  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinMarketCap.com - Market Cap Rankings of All Cryptocurrencies! on: April 09, 2014, 11:57:54 AM
Why do coins like solarcoin not get included in the normal volume? They get over 1BTC volume daily. What does it take to get out of the low volume area?
520  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CoinTweak - Profitability overview -= Scrypt(-N), X11, SHA3 =- (Reddit) tipbots on: April 09, 2014, 11:54:21 AM
Looks really nice, I may start using it instead of coinwarz. Have you guys thought of running a multipool using your calculator?
I don't feel experienced enough for that. My pool knowledge is limited to setting up a test version of a scrypt pool.
If you have someone with the knowledge I may be interested. Wink

add Nxt Coin Cheesy
Isn't that IPO and PoS only?

Fair enough, I will try to see if I can get some people in contact with you guys. I would love to see something like that come together.

Also yes NXT is PoS only.
