501  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CryptoKingdom Uncensored on: March 12, 2018, 05:18:29 AM
The only reservation I have is for the accounts 'Soul' and 'LittleFlock', afaik Risto maintained they were real people...

Based on history, both of these were played by Risto. Many times on the forum, Risto took on the "role" of these accounts. In the game, Risto pretty much used both accounts as his personal reserves, and it is remembered they were utilized during the depo nonsense as well. If, in the deep past, Risto made an arrangement with some outside party regarding these accounts, then they should get in touch with him.

I agree with Loaf, those people should get in touch with Risto and get refunded directly from him, they never played these accounts themselves, and probably don't exist anyway.
502  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HLM] HELIUM - PRE NOTICE on: March 09, 2018, 01:06:06 PM

HLM is an airdrop on spreadcoin, so you bought spr to get HLM, and you're free to sell your spr anytime you want, so how is your money being locked up? You didn't entrust any money to HLM devs at all.

Bullshit. Just take a look at the SPR chart and correlate it with HLM announcements. While technically, HLM is an airdrop to SPR holders, it was also the only way to buy into the project. There's a reason for using SPR as an on-ramp: project team members, esp coins101 would hold a lot of SPR from former times and of course would not like this to go to zero.

Resorting to technicalities to deflect blame for OBVIOUS and GLARING problems in communication and project handling is pretty lame, champ.

Bullshit champ, you bought spr for an airdrop, and you can sell it anytime you want, so you got nothing locked up. If you fomo bought after the announcement pump and paid too much you made a rookie mistake, that's why you're butt hurt. Learn from your mistakes, and move on. HLM is an airdrop, it's a freebie, so saying you entrusted your money to HLM devs makes you sound like a whinging dick, champ.

Devs did a 51% attack on themselves, they collected some btc donations from a few people, maybe this is the exit, very strange behaviour, they must realise market won't accept that level of dev compensation.
504  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HLM] HELIUM - PRE NOTICE on: March 08, 2018, 11:32:36 PM
Yes, I am salty as hell. The money locked into HLM I could have used on other projects to make me more money in between.

Just a case in point: the latest blog entry on https://www.heliumlabs.org/blog is about 6 weeks old now. That's no way to treat people who entrusted you their money.

HLM is an airdrop on spreadcoin, so you bought spr to get HLM, and you're free to sell your spr anytime you want, so how is your money being locked up? You didn't entrust any money to HLM devs at all.

Is the voting based on regions this time, are there still going to be 16 NN in each region?

I can see a scenario where a candidate gets enough VOTES to be in the top 30 in the election, but they are in a sort after region with many candidates, and they don't win one of the available places to make up the 16 from their region. What would happen in that situation? Would they get option to move to another region?
We wont be enforcing it directly, but the limit of one node per region will prevent getting too imbalanced. Also, unlike last year where there were no pre-existing notaries and it wouldnt have been good to have them all clustered, this year half the notaries are in place already and pretty spread out, so we will let the elections decide where exactly the nodes end up

That makes sense, good decision! If an imbalance in the regions does occur you could always give a slight advantage to candidates running in that region next election to compensate, get more high quality candidates running in that region.

508  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SUP][ICO] SuperDAO Project - Pokereum Decentralized Poker & Dappsery DAPP on: March 08, 2018, 12:36:04 AM
SuperDAO devs have  chosen to operate in super stealth mode since the beginning, hard to know exactly what stage of their roadmap their on as we don't really know the roadmap, but if they're going to crypto conferences that's a good sign.
509  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: March 07, 2018, 11:46:23 PM
Any news on distribution of the NEM silver coin fund from NXT asset exchange days?

Also, I see on NEM rich list some huge accounts for dev funds and marketing which is great, but where are details of how those funds are being spent?

51% kept by the founders.  Shocked
Why?

That's insane, this project looked good for a while, but devs must have lost their minds 51% is ridiculous

Looks like there is ongoing discussion regarding a community pool happening in slack now, #community_pooled_node , awesome!!

If those guys get enough pooled VOTE from small-medium KMD holders to secure a notary, great (mission accomplished), otherwise I'll help get them across the line with some of my VOTE.

If other parties try and start another community pool for small-medium holders I'll try and help there too, if I can.

It looks like the community pool oranisers don't want my kind of 'help', that's fine, everyone is free to choose their own path. I withdraw my offer above.

Nice offer, but it wouldn't be a community pool if one entity controlled the majority of the pool, would it. Small investors are being offered nice profit shares by some high profile candidates with good chance to get elected (20%-30%), so there's no need for a community pool now.
512  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: The DEX (Decentralized Exchange) Thread on: March 06, 2018, 10:57:02 PM
One disadvantage of decentralized platform is the speed of trades compared to traditional platform. It is also much higher transaction fee than the normal trading platform. Even security is also an issue like what happened in Etherdelta. I like decentralize platform but I think it needs  more time before it is fully adopted.

I agree, DEX like BarterDEX are not for every crypto user, if you don't mind kyc regulations and don't mind some risk from hacks and scams from using centralised exchanges then DEX is probably a lot more trouble than it's worth in many ways, slow and requires effort to learn new way of thinking based on things like utxo and atomic swaps. Maybe 80% of small-medium traders will not bother to learn, but DEX niche will still be substantial.

I disagree though, BarterDEX fees are cheaper, and security issues are non existent, you always control your private keys, and there's no central website, so no chance of phishing or dns spoofing.

That's an awesome incentive to hodl.

What happens if you want to move your tokens for security reasons, like onto a ledger or trezor, can you apply to move 100% of your coins to a new address and still keep the bonus status?
515  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo - Zcash Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: March 05, 2018, 09:26:17 AM
So how many of the 816,061 Supernet/UNITY asset migrated over to the Komodo asset chain?  I'm guessing less than half.
approx 88% migrated

I burned enough so there are now only 777,777 SUPERNET coins in existence

approx 150,000 are self hodl, so the divisor for revshare purposes is 612529

Very generous jl777, most other devs would have kept 100% of unclaimed assets for themselves, thanks Smiley

518  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [ANN] Bittrex - Next generation exchange (btc/ltc/eac/ppc/rdd/ftc/and more) on: March 04, 2018, 01:52:16 AM
Are bittrex admins in jail yet?  Are they being sued yet?  Has anything been done about them just randomly deciding to lock a bunch of peoples' money from them?  I'm guessing no.

Don't give this scam exchange your money if you're new and reading this, there are far better exchanges to use.  Find them.

Maybe you have some personal bad experiences from them but I really don't understand where're you getting this. Would you mind to give out some information/proof regarding your claim? Or is this related to the issue with people being locked out of their exchange and can't come back due to their long verification process?

If I remember it correctly, I got verified in their exchange within 2 days by just submitting the necessary documents needed. Never had any problem with them (deposit/withdrawals) and I'm still using this exchange up to now.

There have been literally thousands of complaints of bittrex locking accounts for the last 9-12 months. I see two basic types:

1- people from 'banned' countries like Cuba, Iran, Syria
2- legacy account holders from before the KYC era

In both cases many thousands of users were using bittrex for a long time without problems, and bittrex was gladly letting them, and collecting fees. Then WITHOUT WARNING, these users had their accounts locked without any grace period to withdraw their funds.

Bittrex could have announced their change in policy and let people withdraw before the new terms of service were introduced, but they chose to freeze accounts without warning. We can speculate why, maybe they plan to keep these users funds, maybe they were presurred by someone to do this ... who knows, but the facts are clear for all to see.

In my case I am in category 2- above, and I have +20k USD frozen unless I upload KYC data to these people, even though the original terms of service never required this when I first opened my account.

Eventually the operators of Bittrex will pay for what they have done, Karma always catches up.
519  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: March 03, 2018, 11:44:42 PM
http://www.tangleblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/letters.pdf

I read the leaked emails between the iota team and DCI.

I try to make a summary of the 124 pages of emails:
DCI: hey i found some vulnerabilities in iota.
IOTA team: thanks for telling us. What is the weakness?
DCI: something with curl (don't roll your own, not peer reviewed, cryptography!).
IOTA team: thanks, we were planning to change it to Keccak. How were you planning to attack iota based on the vulnerability?
DCI: don't know, i am busy right now. When are you going to take care of the vulnerability?
IOTA team: wait let's get the facts straight and analyze your attack.
DCI: Trust me it is not done to roll your own cryptography (no go).
IOTA team: ok, but what about the attack?
DCI: You fixed the vulnerability not? so we can publish our findings, you can read the attack in publication.
IOTA team: How about us responding to the attack? We still think an attack would not be successful.
DCI: We are done with you, don't insult us. We are going to publish.

Yes, that's a good summary.

The obvious next question to ask is why did DCI behave this way, and why are other academic cryptographers like Matthew Green attacking IOTA team?

Answer is jealousy and greed as far as I can tell, these academics want to earn big money like early crypto tech pioneers, they are very jealous of CfB in particular as creator of NXT and IOTA, and they work with rivals of IOTA to make big money if they can too, and they want to use their 'credibility' to bring down a competitor.

When all this comes out, and it will, many reputations will be destroyed, but so far they are doing some short term damage to IOTA, but eventually this episode will be legendary in IOTA's history.
