Gambling is a huge industry and bitcoin is currently untapped by the mainstream sites. They could actually save a lot of money by accepting or paying out in coins over PayPal and other such money transmitters. As for creating your own site if you can come up with something unique go for it but the market is pretty saturated with run of the mill dice sites and basic casinos at the moment so don't just do another one of them.

i know thats not a fault of bitcoin...exchange should be more secured...but when ever any exchange robbed then the huge part of money got stollen from owr community..which highly effect our price..so i think we should increace our own security because nowdays nothing is safe and a single mistake can effect on the price so if some amount of people keeps their coins safe and makes a little less profit everyday then maybe we can again reach the stable state of bitcoin
You have absolutely lost me. I think he's saying that if bitcoin loses much of its value then companies who have invested money into bitcoin or use bitcoin to operate may face difficulties. Some cloud mining companies went bust when the value dropped significantly and had to cease operations (though of course they could have just been ponzis but I think at least one 'legit' company suffered because of the fairly recent price drop). I'm sure there have been other bitcoin businesses that suffered a similar fate too. Edit: Thought you were responding to this: i am so so much afraid with this btc price,i wont care how much it increases..but the thing i care is what if 1btc value reaches $100....then many big companys will be destroyed or will stop accepting it as payment....many btc shop will face losses

I think what he's saying is people need to secure their coins because when they get stolen they then get dumped and it has a negative effect on the bitcoin price.

We need a willy bot.
For what? To artificially inflate the price? I'd rather have a slow but steady growth over time than a massive rush because it'll only cause another bubble and eventually burst again.

Breaking Bad is awesome, maybe you started it watching it late, but the fuss was made almost near the end. And GOT rules the seven kingdoms and starts tomorrow yay!!! On The Office: both versions, the UK one is pretty short though and has Ricky in it (y). But you also have the US version with Steve Carrell, which is pure gold. If i had to choose I'd choose the US version any day. I haven't seen either Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones yet but at least I've got something to look forward to. The UK series of The Office is my favourite sitcom of all time and I think it's far superior, though I've only seen the first few seasons of the US version. Completely different in terms of tact and humour and I'd take quality over quantity any day.

You're overestimating ross. He used his personal email to advertise silk road. I'm sure he was also dumb enough to pay for the hit through a bank transfer.
Let's get real, the guy was a fricking idiot.
If he was such an idiot, then he would have never created such a sophisticated market place and saved it from the FBI and hackers for more than a year. The FBI tracked him after years of monitoring. They spent millions of USD trying to track him. But for a long time he evaded those who tried to outsmart him. He was caught after a bug in the TOR browser exposed his IP. He was probably smarter than anyone in this forum. Ross made many mistakes all of which ultimately contributed to his demise. The biggest error he made that tied him directly to Silk Road was using his own personal details to set up Silk Road in the first place. From what I gather it was good old fashioned detective work that got him caught but once he was there was plenty of evidence to seal the deal. Had he not used his personal email address and not got caught red handed operating SR with logs of his activities on the laptop amongst other things it might have been a much different story. I don't doubt that he is a very intelligent person but he did some ridiculously stupid things. If he was such a genius though he wouldn't be currently sitting in a jail cell right now.

Hello to all
I am newbie here guys, can you tells me how to earn from Signature Compaign, hope you guys help me...thanks
Just go to service section and find your SIG campaign which you can join, first rise your rank I think, minimum your rank is Jr.member. For details sign campaign list: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=615953.0And follow the rules You're the third person to post a link to the Signature Overview so please actually read the thread before posting because repeating the same info is a good way to get yourself banned pretty quick. I think this question has been sufficiently answered now.

Ok but if I report an user (who wear a sig ad) and made a couple of posts in a row the staff should merge them or am I wrong? Because if there is not a rule and then is not against the forum rules I can write two posts in a row for make comfortable the reading/legibility (as the other users did, but their posts are not merged - not a problem).
Thanks again.
Well we'll probably have to wait for clarification from the admins on that. It's the first situation I've heard of a mod editing and merging double posts but maybe it should be taken on a case-by-case basis. I think people should make the habit of not doing double posts though.

Well my point is that people are unlikely to block signatures because signatures are often very useful. However if too many people have the same advertisement on their avatar then people will start to disable avatars. Avatars can be useful too, but if people are annoyed by signatures or avatars they'll probably just block them anyway. The reason that avatars are useful is because it helps identify people. If people start advertising with their avatar then that benefit goes away. But they're also useful as an advertising medium. They won't really care about people being more difficult to recognise but that's the compromise. Many wont want to sell their avatar because of this but many also will for the extra coin. It is easy to measure how many people see a billboard or a TV advert as you can measure how many people pass a certain location or view a tv show. It is much more difficult to measure how many people see a certain user''s avatar which makes it difficult to price how much an avatar is worth
You can say the same here with the number of hits the forum gets - after all that's why signatures are so valuable here from an advertisers standpoint - but like TV adverts or billboards viewing figures or views are often wildly inaccurate and are estimates and as such don't always translate into sales or people even actually paying attention to them. As with any advertising you're just buying the time and space and hoping it gets you sales or at the very least gets your brand out there. With signatures you can track how many people click on the link which will give you a general idea as to how many people have seen the signature. Forum impressions will only tell you how many people visit the forum as a whole and will not tell you how many people have seen the avatar of the specific people who are advertising for you. Hits don't necessarily translate into sales or money though so it's also about brand awareness which an avatar will help considerably.

Maybe someone's trolling or just the algorhym that chooses the picture assumes it's him. Isnt Dorian Nakamoto the guy who think he's Satoshi? How come he's Nick Szabo?
Dorian is not the satoshi nor does he think he is. He's actively denied it and think he was even going to sue whoever inaccurately outed him.

As with any advertising you're just buying the time and space and hoping it gets you sales or at the very least gets your brand out there. There is a huge difference if you would ask me. Signatures often contain useful information and further references for such a service, while on the other hand, avatars contain only an image which is solely used for representing a brand/service. With this links and texts, a user can already know what the service/product is all about, thus making things easier on the user's side. Signatures imo is a better advertisement for a product/service than an avatar.
I'm not doubting it's better but an image can also contain much info and is very valuable imo. As I've said before it's essentially a mini billboard and you can utilise the PT and weblink to direct people to your website as well.

Not long ago there was a member, WoodCollector, that made claims about the coins he was selling as being hand carved. After his claim was deemed questionable, he was unable to provide adequate proof of its authenticity and was even eventually banned from the forum.
He wasn't banned from the forum. Scammers aren't banned. He even posted a "treasure hunt" recently https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1011340.msg10971986#msg10971986 (obviously bullshit). I could've sworn he got banned. Perhaps it was a temp ban? Thanks for the update. He did get a temp ban for repeatedly bumping his threads with his alts but he's not currently banned though is apparently on a self-imposed exile on his main WoodCollector account (but is currently posting under Stuff4Bitcoin). I doubt he would ever fully disappear anyway and always seems to reappear with a new scam or with some new crap to flog.

I advise you to use none of them because they all look crap. I'm going with the final option.
Let oYo pick for himself. Like what his PM said, "I like boobs" As probably do 99.9% of heterosexual males (heck, even homosexual men usually love boobs), but I don't think they're a good avatar choice, but that's up to the individual user.

Do you know the kids or where they live? If you don't I'd just leave it as if their insurance will cover it then you might as well leave it at that. I understand your predicament but if you can track the parents down just go tell them rather than getting the police or insurance involved or anything. Suppose you could tell the owners of the cars you saw it was kids as they might need that info for their insurance.
Hi and thanks everyone for the comments. Yes It's the kids of the house opposite mine. They were throwing polished pot-plant / pavement stones from their rooftop balcony whilst the parents hosted a party. Yep.. I did stupid shit as a kid, probably didn't damage anyones property in that way but I understand how silly 'dares' can get with a group of hyped up teens. I have decided that I will approach the tenannts and tell them what I saw and that the moral responsibility lies with them to either fess up to the car yard next to us and/or brutally punish their kids (ok bit much but you get it) !
If I get a knock on the door from the Car Yard owners I will tell them what I saw. Sounds fair I hope!Cheers I think this is the best way to deal with it to be honest. I'm sure the parents would give the children a scolding but I don't think it's worth them possibly getting a criminal record over and hopefully the kids will just learn their lesson from the bollocking from their parents.

Well the thing about signatures is that they very often contain very useful information so it is unlikely that many people will disable signatures outright. It is more likely that people will come up with things like grue's ad block that blocks only certain signatures they do not want to see. Avatars don't really have any use other then to identify certain people. If people started selling their avatar space then people would likely start to disable them which defeats the point of having an avatar campaign in the first place. Also the price for avatars is likely to be low because they are not clickable so all it can really do is build brand recognition. I don't think there's that much difference between signatures and avatars to be honest and you can make most arguments against avatars for signatures too. As I've mentioned before billboards or TV adverts aren't clickable either but they have a purpose. An avatar can be like a tiny billboard or advert and you could also utilise the Personal Text and weblink beneath for extra effectiveness it if you wish.

Most people nowadays are banned for sig spam, so decreasing their activity may also make their rank go down, not all time, but will and also, this increases the time for their promotion.
It might not make their rank go down either. There's quite a substantial amount of activity to be gained between FM to Snr and Snr to Hero so it won't have much difference if you're in between those ranks. A signature ban will be far more effective in these instances.

It's not really necessary to be honest. I'm not really buying the whole length thing. I often quote many people I want to reply to in one post. Why would you need to double post? The only way I can see it being valid is if a thread hasn't been replied to and you need to bump it for whatever reason.
Thanks for your reply, this is mine: .... However I do not consider double posting (only two posts) in a row for the quotes question 'post padding'... I have seen users posted 3-4 posts in a row, and I don't consider it bump because the posts are close to each other in seconds.
I have replied to those users in a few second, so it is not a bump to that thread. Have a nice day guys, it is not a problem for me but if all the other users can do/make double posting and their thread were not merged then this is the problem. That's not really an excuse. You can still edit them all into one post or just make the post with multiple replies in the first place. I don't find it wrong in anyway as once even I did it to post comments in a Signature campaign I was a part of but my second post was deleted even though it was not off topic and it wasn't merged. I don't get paid to post in my signature campaign but well it is considered as bumping a thread twice and so one needs to clutter up their post to avoid double posting or wait for another person to reply and then post another comment.
So there isn't a clear rule and each mod. "moderate" thanks to hi judgement (not a problem) but I will see if that mod will merge those posts from those users or not. This is why I have opened that thread (but first I sent a pm to that mod). I don't think there's any rule on it but it's never going to be looked upon favourably when you have a signature as it's unnecessary, but I honestly don't know why you felt the need to double post in this thread. Looks like you're pushing your luck to me.

Wouldn't that likely be a problem on your end with your connection or browser? I don't think I've seen it with me on this forum but does happen elsewhere from time to time.

I wonder how many BadBear has? For some reason I can imagine him having more than that with all the people complaining to him about bans but maybe he deletes them. Nice to know we don't have to to free up space though.
BadBear has ~6,000 PM's in his inbox. He probably has less because he has been an admin for a much shorter time period then theymos. Good point, but he has been a Global Mod for a considerable while longer and largely responsible for the bannings before he became an Admin.
