5001  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Anderson Silva vs Tito Ortiz on September 11 on: September 13, 2021, 07:58:19 PM
I was so surprised by the result of this fight with Anderson Silva winning at first round in 1 minute and 21 seconds. Now I understand what he did. Days before the fight he said to the media he would dodge and resist maximum as possible along the rounds and that is exactly what Tito Ortiz thought it was going to happen, so he went full attack mode since the beginning. Probably in his mind he imagined he could control the fight's rhythm this way.

However, what he didn't know is that Silva was bluffing and when Ortiz least expected, the game turned 180º. He was surprised by a sudden change in his opponent's strategy that knocked him out instantly without giving him any recovery chance. Maybe if he were more strategical and didn't rush like that the fight would have lasted longer.
5002  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Concern about the the problem of online underaged gamblers. on: September 13, 2021, 06:38:43 PM
I'm concerned for the underaged and how easy these things have become so exposed to them. I did a little research as to the statistics of underaged gamblers for last year, and according to an article, "39% of 11-16-year olds have bet their own money" as at when published in October 2020.
I would like to see a real case of 11 years old kid gambling. It seems really unlikely for me. Maybe these statistics are mixing gambling at casinos and friendly "betting" with friends or relatives at home or school. The second situation isn't an issue at all and there is no way to avoid underage people to bet in some events of their daily routine for fun. I remember when I was at middle school students organized a betting pool in the world cup results and we bet small amounts of money just for fun. Would we also be included in these statistics and punished by the law?

What are your thoughts?, What are the possible solutions to the problem of the rising number of online underaged gamblers?
It's parents' duty to take care the mental health of their children. If they are showing symptoms of addiction, parents must identify the cause of the problem and fight it back. But the rest of the world can't forbid an activity from being advertised just because few individuals can't handle it properly.
5003  Economy / Economics / Re: How would Bitconia look like? on: September 13, 2021, 04:18:29 PM
How would Bitconia look like? How would we get there?
The closest real experiment to this concept is Liberstad. To get there you can just fly to Norway and make your way to this community.

However I can't find any recent updates about this project. By 2019 there was the promise Liberstad would become the first crypto private city in the world, without any central authority or government. They started selling pieces of land in 2018 for Bitcoins, but one year later they have created their own crypto currency, City Coin, to be used as official and only currency inside the domains of Liberstad.

In my opinion there is a big contradiction between speech and practice, because if people are enforced to use an altcoin as currency there is no difference to another administration models. However, it's not an exclusivity of Liberstad. I think any society which tries to organize themselves in a 100% private or decentralized way will contradict their words through their practices sooner or later.
5004  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Satoshi about to show up? on: September 13, 2021, 06:32:28 AM
What I still don't understand the problem is where is Satoshi Nakamoto or some group of organizers want to use this cryptocurrency for good or bad purpose, Now we all wonder and still can't pay word.
Some people speculate Satoshi Nakamoto is a group of individuals, but I believe there is only one man behind the pseudonym. Anything involving money can't work so well like bitcoin is doing if there are more people involved because people have different personalities that will not match among themselves on long run. People are vain, greedy, ambitious and at some point bitcoin would be damaged if there were more than one "Satoshi Nakamoto".

With a total supply of 21 million, how much does Satoshi Nakamoto own?
It's likely he has mined over 1 million of bitcoins that are still untouched by this day. They were mined during the early months of bitcoin. On that time it was possible to mine blocks which rewarded 50 btcs, that was an awesome reward.

How many Bitcoin does Satoshi Nakamoto still own?
5005  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Spain bans betting adds - no celebrities, no sport sponsorship, no daytime adds on: September 13, 2021, 01:25:55 AM
I think Spain government has taken this drastic measure because it has seen a huge spike in gambling from young people of age 18-25 which is the future of the country being impacted by those ads and not being that effective in their society and work. Most teams in Spain are sponsored and has always been sponsored by such ventures, gambling ones and they will lose a good portion of their revenue.Spain has taken this measure because it is affecting its economy by taking a huge portion of the youth absorbed in gambling as I see no other explanation to be such aggressive in a new law.

Unfortunately this is not a long term solution.

The root cause of young people gambling is definitely not this. People don't feel the urge to gamble just because they see a celebrity/athlete wear the banner of a certain sportsbook company on their jersey.

Rather, there is clearly some underlying greater economic issue that needs addressing. Why are people finding the time/motivation to want to gamble? Addressing the symptoms is not a good way to tackle a problem.
I agree with you when you say the root cause must be addressed. I believe there are two possible reasons:

  • Young people possibly want easy, fast money and sports gambling advertisements makes they think it's possible to achieve their goal through this activity;
  • Lack of productive opportunities disponible for youngs in the regions where they live. With jobs offering too low payrates, people tend to search for alternative ways to grow their earnings and gambling looks attractive at first impression for them.

If there were more jobs, more earnings opportunities for everyone this issue would probably be heavily decreased without the need of banning any ads... However, it's really a big issue which goes beyond the will and reach of any governments. The truth is that there are too many people in the world right now for a much lower number of jobs spots disponible.
5006  Economy / Economics / Re: Food prices doubled this year on: September 12, 2021, 08:04:13 PM
Anyone know if hyperinflation comes on slowly or all at once?  That's what I'm worried about.
It comes all at once when governments are interventionism adepts. That means they mask the economical scenario maximum as possible to give a false impression everything is fine. They artificially control prices, print money often, increase public expenses (like you said regards Biden's policy of giving free money). As such measures are useless and don't solve any issues, at some point the situation becomes unsustainable and hyperinflation hits aggressively.

Irresponsible, populist public policies turn economical crisis into a snowball downhill increasing in size after each spin and destroying everything on its way.

- Does anybody know what the line below the mobile icon says in the McDonald's ad [this is the "clearest" one that I could find, but I can't still read all of the letters]?
I think it's the same writing in a better quality image in another banner: Aceptamos pago en Bitcoins en cualquier compra / We accept payment in bitcoins in any purchases.

Sorry for the huge image, but it must be readable. Cheesy
5008  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: September 12, 2021, 06:20:23 PM

Congratulations to Leo Messi, he just passed Pele and became the most goalscorer in South America in national teams. It was a nice hat-trick against Bolivia, he just showed still how hungry he is. Brasil and Argentina's positions are almost guaranteed at this point, they will get the ticket eventually.

Yes. Congratulations to @Argentina on winning Copa America and the long-awaited title. A beautiful goal from Messi!
Now I want Brazil vs Argentina.  Cheesy

This title was the most important for Messi in his career, since fans in Argentina always compare him to Maradona.
Since he could not win anything with the national team for a very long time, the fans was very angry and accused him of not trying hard enough when he played for the national team.
Now he took that burden off his back and that’s why Messi was so emotional and crying.
However, since he failed to become world champion with Argentina, in the eyes of the fans he will always be behind their deity Maradona.
The competition in world football is great and I really doubt that Messi will succeed in that, but who knows, he will probably have another, last attempt at the World Cup in Qatar  Cheesy
Messi is a great player and I think fans are unfair when they say he isn't trying hard enough, because the results of the national team don't depend only on him. He can't bring the title to Argentina by himself, carrying the team on his back. I don't know if the problem is a lack of standing out players in argentinian team (with Messi's exception), the fact the team relies too much on Messi, what makes the rest of the players lazy and unfocused or that although they have good players they don't know how to play well as a team.

In my opinion Messi even outstands Maradona. Besides being the best world's player he has never scored with his hand. Cheesy

Fans never think rationally and the path from worship to hate is usually very short.
The fact is that no player in history has ever been so dominant at a World Cup as Maradona at the 1986 World Cup.
I watched that World Cup and I say openly, without Maradona Argentina would never have been a world football champion in 1986.
Maradona even led an average italian team, Napoli, to the Italian title and the UEFA Cup winner.
Messi plays in a much stronger team - Barcelona and PSG now, and a much stronger nacional team than Maradona in 1986, and yet he scored less than Maradona, so it is obvious to me who is a better player.
Statistics can't change that.
On those times soccer were very different from the currently one. There were masters like Maradona and normal players. But right now even master players face difficult challenges against considered weak teams, because the professional background of every players in almost every countries improved a lot and they are a lot more strategical than in 90's and below.
Barcelona and PSG are strong teams, but all the other teams are also strong if you compare them to the soccer of the old days. In the situation you mentioned I think it would be only possible to know who is the best if it were possible to send Messi to 1986 and replace Maradona for him on the field.

5010  Economy / Service Discussion / Frustration with third party KYC services in crypto platforms on: September 11, 2021, 05:35:07 PM
I'm facing constant issues when signing up and completing the verification process at crypto currency platforms from different kinds, due to their third party KYC sites not accepting the documents provided, although they are perfectly fine and readable. I don't know why these services are difficulting the process like this, because their customers (crypto platforms) are the main prejudiced in the end, since users can't verify their accounts properly.

I believe KYC services are demanding details that average users can't even supply in an accessible or affordable way. For an example, a top tier quality camera to photo the document. And I suspect the process isn't even done manually by real operators, as right after you send your ID, seconds or minutes later they have already rejected it.

Imagine the volume of stucked verifications these platforms have due to inneficient KYC providers and the potential profit they could have been making if it wasn't this mix of bureaucracy and incapable verifiers.

That is very frustrating. Time is money and in crypto universe it shouldn't be different...

According to reports,Serge Aurier is open to joining Arsenal on a free transfer. The formal Tottenham player is out of contract, and looking for a team, and reports surgest that he might be open to joining Arsenal who have problems at the back.

The player is a very talented player and full of experience that will add more depth to Arsenal backline and squad entirely, but the problem is age,he is about 29yrs and Arsenal are a team recruiting only young players now,so the possibility of bringing in Aurier looks unlikely.
There are rumours he could be taken by Everton as the team is facing serious issues with their right-back position added to an injury suffered by the captain Seamus Coleman, who is also captain of Ireland national team. The free transfer of Serge Aurier and Everton's necessity for an experienced player like him seems to perfectly match at this moment. Let's see.

5012  Other / Politics & Society / Re: America & Facebook is becoming a dictatorship on: September 10, 2021, 05:29:14 PM
Interesting there are plenty of communist content in platforms like Facebook without any censorship against them. Why is communism allowed and nazism isn't by the platform, since they are two faces of the same coin considering the methods used by both regimes?

The case becomes even worse if the posts are just made for historical or educational purposes. What Facebook does is to forbid people from learning fragments and details of past events which forged the history of the modern society.

However, there is nothing we can do about it, because they are a private company and it's their right to choose what kind of content can and can not be displayed in their domains.

I clicked the link and this page showed up:

I didn't go further anyway.

That guy is just trying to refer some people to his personal account or to add them to a gambling virtual group. He claims it's a new innovative strategy which has been working for him, a friend of him and his sister for half a year already, but I doubt any of his statements are true, because there isn't anything new and innovative about Martingale, moreover I doubt Martingale strategy could work for half a year without crashing the bankroll meanwhile if the gambler plays at least in a weekly basis.

The truth is that the youtuber just created a random sequence for black and red bets to make his video stand out among many identical videos disponible on youtube. That was his marketing strategy. Sadly no one in comments section of youtube point out these facts.
5014  Economy / Economics / Re: A way to make money online? on: September 10, 2021, 01:48:36 AM
I get what you mean, but I decided to start trying to get income because im 14 and started needing to save for a car. And then I started realizing that if I make money on the side I can buy the things I want and not need to wait for birthdays, Christmas, etc to get or buy the things I want. (New computer parts, altcoins, etc) I also started saving money alongside my car to build a mining rig (Power is very cheap where I live, $0.023 per kilowatt hour) so that I can make money while im at school from mining.
I think you are right for going after the money in order to acquire stuff you want without expecting someone is going to give it to you for free, like most young people. It's not wrong to look for jobs, extra income since an early age. It actually shows a responsible and mature behavior from the individual. I would like to have been more like this during my teenager times, so I could have discovered bitcoin on the moment it was launched.

My suggestion is that you keep watching news regard NFT/Blockchain games/Play to earn games, because it tends to be a hot topic from now on, especially for people at your age. The good opportunities must be taken at the beginning and that is why it's important to watch news from this niche of crypto market often. You might know Axie Infinity. It's just the first of many successes that are to come.
5015  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Shall We Hold Our Bitcoin Like Gollum? on: September 10, 2021, 12:27:29 AM
As you can remember, the ring caused Smeagol to get worse and worse every day and he turned into a creature named Gollum.
It's true, he got worse day by day because he had a greedy obssession for the One Ring that eventually made him completely change his lifestyle, going away from his traditional routine to live exclusively to worship the ring in dark places. For that reason I think we shouldn't hold our Bitcoin like Sméagol, as we know what happens if we do and I believe no one would want to be on his shoes.
It's important to always have in mind money or bitcoin is here to serve us and not the opposite. If adopters are able to keep a healthy relationship with their holdings and avoid repeating the example of Gollum they will thrive in their personal finances.

Also, we have to keep in mind that their alexa rank is 1,429. I just saw and when Cointelegraph had alexa rank 1100, they had monthly 10+ million views. That at some point can give us an idea about freebitco's traffic.
I believe this intense traffic happens because many people advertise freebitco.in at PTC and micro jobs websites, in search for referrals. So lots of people open the site on their devices daily in order to complete the tasks on those platforms, but not necessarily sign up or become loyal users of freebitco.in. It helps increasing the traffic anyway and shows how freebitco.in's users invest money from their own pocket in the referral program.

From the lottery ticket list we can see that 615,441 accounts participated in the last round.
Where do you see this number of participant accounts? Inside lottery tab I can only see the top 10 winners list and the total amount of tickets from the last round.

That would make it around only 1% of registered users but when we take all things into consideration it is still an impressive number.
Really impressive, that is less than 1% of total users. Now imagine if about 10% of freebitco.in's users were active, we would have 1 BTC prizes every round for the first position winner, 0.5 BTC for second position, 0.25 BTC for third position and so on...

2 tickets winning is really a mythical event, but maybe tickets are so splitted among different users' hands that it becomes common to happen winnings for two or three digits tickets holders. I say that because the site has 47 million of users, that is more than the population of some small european countries, and every user can acquire few tickets for free just by claiming the faucet reward or by referring some people to the site.
We see right now 147,160,000 tickets for the next draw, but we don't know how many people are holding those tickets. Maybe there are million of people already holding few of them. As there are many of them, it becomes common these small holders are selected as winners.

Thats what they say that they have 47 million users. We dont know how many of them are active. You cant see the games or browse the gambling area without creating an account. I have also created an account just to see the gambling details but I am not an active one.
147 million tickets for next draw means that each of 47 million user has around 3 million tickets. Is this insane or fine?
The 47 million users aren't all active, of course. But if they were, it would be around 3 tickets per user, not 3 million.
It's hard to calculate it anyway, because we have no idea how many users access the site in a weekly basis to participate the lottery draws.

I tried to get an average calculation based on my tickets amount (676) and reached to a result of 217,455 active users. That is just my personal case as example, but there are people who have less tickets, so the number of active users must be higher.

Yeah it's funny that those with about 10k tickets haven't enough chance to win 1/10 lucky ticket  Cheesy
Based on the number of lottery tickets that some people have, the chance of winning the lottery becomes more realistic to some, especially the prize pool will be shared between ten winners. Although, by the number of tickets collected by free spins and wagering, the prize pool seems to enough small that let anybody think that's it's almost impossible to win among thousands of tickets (some even have about 10k tickets and didn't meet his chance)

It really takes full luck to be a 1/10 winner.  If you already have 10K tickets but don't become one of the winners, then I, who only has hundreds of tickets, is enough with empty hopes.  Although luck no one knows in the end to whom.  For the next, maybe have to undergo some special rituals to be 1/10 winner Smiley lol.
Honestly, I do not think winning with few thousand of tickets is that interesting, it happens all the time. The ones that I am still keep getting shocked about is the ones that win with less than 100 tickets. 100 tickets is nearly nothing, if you claim WOF like once a day, you will have so much tickets, and it is nearly free as well. I have to say that not having more than 100 tickets and keep winning is something we get to see nearly every week these days as well, last week there were 2, but I am not getting used to it. Like anything above 10k is already a boring result for me, and yes all winners under 5k at the same time was a weird one but individually it is not that weird.

However even though I have seen it a million times, I am still getting shocked whenever there are people who wins with under 100 tickets, the sheer odds on that is insane.

That's because it all boils down to how lucky you are. I have seen people win the prize with just 2 lottery tickets.
Yeah right, 2 lottery tickets. Just 1 free spin will get you 2 lottery tickets just like that. That person should be lucky as hell.
I have held mre than 8000 tickets once but still won nothing. So I just left the hope for these lottery tickets.
It would just require 1 lucky day to win the rewards nor matter how many lottery tickets you hold.

The match between the Czech Republic and Wales seems to be the most competitive match today. The two teams are equally strong. This match is very important for both teams. The Wales team is stable, they play very defensively. Wales has 7 points from 4 matches and the Czech Republic has 7 points from 5 matches. Wales will be happy to share the points of today's match.
The game will happen next month, 10/08, right? This match will be an opportunity for Czech Republic to show a better performance than that one they had when the team lost against Wales in the round 3 of qualifiers by 1-0 in march. Judging only by that game I would say Wales is the favorite one, but since then Czech Republic has also showed some nice results, especially against Netherlands (2-0) and Scotland (2-0), both in Eurocopa.

And although this match is going to be very balanced, (correct me if I'm wrong) Wales may have a slight advantage in the bigger picture, because they have one less game in the group. So although both teams have 7 points, Wales will have an extra chance to play yet.
5020  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Metaverse x Gambling on: September 09, 2021, 05:01:49 AM

Yeah, I see plenty of gamblers trying out NFT games because it's currently fresh.

But I'm not sure about the long term prospects after this initial phase of "freshness".

People will still likely prefer to play the traditional games, and those who prefer NFT games will simply be in another category altogether. I doubt there will be a significant overlap between the two groups.

The long term is in jeopardy because the current NFT games that have the fastest ROI are having some huge problems after few weeks of starting the game. Because their rewards are always drained and the players are multiplying this is one of the problems that they've been facing right now especially those games that focus on play to earn without having daily quests or any activities to make their players have some fun without focusing on the earning features. As soon as they run out of rewards, they close the earning features like what we see right now on Cryptoblade. No one really knows if they come back again.

I completely agree.

This is the problem with these new technologies that have just entered the space.

It's clear that they have a lot of potential and can completely change the landscape of the gambling industry, but no one knows exactly how or when. Right now the long term outlook for these things is still quite uncertain I think, but I do think that metaverses have the potential to disrupt and casinos who innovate first will reap the rewards.
I think Cryptoblades isn't measurer for anything. That "game" was a ponzi since the beginning. It was just a browser website artificially inflated in a very short time period without any real gameplay or action. Furthermore there was no logical way to explain how that project could be so successful. It can't be compared to real mmorpgs or casino games.

Regards the mentioned metaverse from Decentral Games it's totally different, because there are actually casinos games which people will play and earn tokens. Those who want to cashout their free earnings will have this option, while those who want to keep playing will have the possibility of doing that as well. It looks a good concept for me that will unite gamblers, micro earners and investors (staking will be also disponible) in a single place.
