I am expecting a whitewash by England, but we we know, cricket is such an unpredictable sport.

Including some bizarre show of batting collapse, both teams are known for their batting collapse once a while so i am counting on it with low scoring games.

~edited out~
India could use some world class multi purpose stadium so that they can focus on other sports too.

Does it make more sense that BCCI along with Cricket should also pick some other sport and manage that as well. Though we have board for each sport than be it Hockey, kabaddi etc. But something like Archery, baseball etc in order to promote and build a good infrastructure and provide goo equipment’s and international trainer if possible requires money and since BBCI could easily do as other boards do not have money so this will help to create more talent among the people and also would be paid significantly than what it is being paid now to players.
I am not a fan of centralized power and BCCI is already very strong organisation so i would be very careful by giving them more power. So not BCCI per se but i am in favor of privatization of sports in India, let someone else do that and BCCI could provide guidance or help if needed. And most importantly we need specialists, so sport minister must be elected from the sport fraternity and not any political outfit.

Bhai brand new retractable roof stadium sucks up more than $1 Billion  so i am not sure if BCCI is capable to do that despite being one of the richest board in world cricket. Australia use their stadiums for duel purpose (Rugby mainly) if other sports in India ranks up then BCCI or sport authority could think about it IMO.

I am not sure about the $1 billion figure. In India, the construction and labor costs are low and therefore it should be cheap. Also I guess it may be possible to install retractable roof in some of the existing stadiums. And in this case the costs would be even lower. And if the BCCI can make deal with other sports bodies, then it is going to get more affordable. But trust me, every penny spent on such stadiums is going to be worth it. Just take the list of recent matches, which were washed out as a result of rain, and you would understand.

Marvel stadium (multi purpose stadium also knows as Docklands Stadium and Etihad Stadium) in Melbourne, Australia was built in 2000, which hosted only 3 ODI in its history, cost around 460ish Million Australian dollars so 300-340 Million US dollars. Its 2020 so new stadium's price should be around $1B or may be more.

I understand your point but like i said earlier if other sports ranks up (multi-purpose stadium) then its worth it otherwise not so IMO. And i am not sure if old era stadiums are good choice due to weak foundation etc but yeah new stadiums seems like a winner if someone adding retractable roof.

Some news for you guys..

- NZ joins the rank and offered to host this year IPL in New Zealand after UAE and Srilanka, UAE is first choice, SL is cost effective and NZ is almost Covid free (but time-zone difference)
- Sri Lankan WK batsman Kusal Mendis has been arrested for running over 64 yo man (Dead)

So finally... we have a practical suggestion. New Zealand is the only country which can host a major cricket tournament right now, as they have remained largely free of COVID 19. They have a number of stadiums with floodlights, so I don't think that the time zone difference is going to matter much. The BCCI should seriously take this suggestion in to consideration.
Time difference factor is big as mentioned by @Indymoney as well.

- NZ is ahead of India around 6-7 hours.
- Normally IPL games takes place around 1 PM (Few) or 7 PM (Majority) - Indian Standard Time
- IPL's revenue model based on Indian market/audience.

Take away:  To facilitate 7 pm (IST) audience, which is kinda prime time. BCCI need to start games at around 01:30 AM in NZ (NZST), is this sounds logical? Not really IMO.

We already got tons of cricket stadium here, instead of cricket stadium India could use some world class multi purpose stadium so that they can focus on other sports too.

There is not even one stadium with retractable roof in India. I don't know why the BCCI is not paying any attention to this, as more and more matches are getting cancelled as a result of rain interruption nowadays. Last year, the domestic season was seriously impacted by the rains and a large number of matches were called off. If Australia can afford it, then why not India? Such stadiums can be used for other sports as well.

BCCI got hosting rights for next 2 WC tournaments so can imagine next world cup final in this ground, may be in 2021 T-20 World cup or 2023 50 overs WC and if not then IPL final is okay too.
Very good pics of new stadium they can go for some more in Banglore, Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi as this will be great helpful in IPL matches and will give them great revenue.

Coming back to @vishnu statement, his position on audience's fatigue or overdose of IPL is true and might backfire on BCCI but we shouldn't forget that after 3-4 months halt due to pandemic audience are hungry for some sort of entertainment in the cricket and then we have revenue angle too.
Why is there a talk about audience fatigue when there is no possibility that the ICC will allow the BCCI to conduct their tournament consecutively when the international schedule is halted in the name of pandemic and it will not help anyone as other cricket boards will come up with their franchise cricket and ICC will be forced to take a neutral stand.

Because once ICC officially announce the complete cancellation of T-20 WC, then no one could stop BCCI (except covid-19) as slots are technically free to use for anyone and BCCI just got lucky. One could argue what about FTP (Bilateral series)? but BCCI is already covered as there was no bilateral commitment during that period except  World Cup and Australia's tour (Schedule in Nov-Dec-Jan). There is one more factor "Asia Cup" but schedule is not fixed yet and decision is pending for quite some time, let's see what happens.

About other boards.
PSL - Already finished (3 games left only)
BBL - They might go with the league as India already touring Australia at the same time, it happens every year. (Dec-Nov-Feb)

After all this comes fatigue argument...

@Vishnu.Reang May be.. As of now everything is speculation so let's see. Having said that BCCI really want to organize IPL due to revenue, which is very understandable argument, nothing wrong with that and no one should really blame them for it, money is important too IMO. Players can't sit out whole year without playing any cricket.

I completely forget that we are going to witness the first international cricket match after the three-month lockdown in a few days.
Are you guys really interested in watching test matches without any spectators? Test matches with spectators themselves are boring sometimes which is why no spectators makes it even more boring in my opinion.
.
Sub continent fans are used to watching empty stands when it comes to the Test cricket. I would say plenty of experience under their belt so nothing new hehe

England's 13 Men squad against Windies is ready to go.
- Jonny Bairstow and Moin Ali sitting out for 1st Match. (Root is already out due to his wife pregnancy)
- Sam Curren tested Negative but he's sitting out too.

Test Reserves: James Bracey, Sam Curran, Ben Foakes, Dan Lawrence, Jack Leach, Saqib Mahmood, Craig Overton, Ollie Robinson, Olly Stone

So what about the West Indies ? Are they coming with their full strength ? If they do not drop any player due to injury or covid19 we could witness interesting games between the two teams as clearly some of the England good players are out of the team.
Still 4 days to go so they didn't announced anything regarding their front line squad including backup players and playing XI announcement takes place before the game.

This is complete squad for Windies
~snip~
Edit: But this is the current WI squad announced:

The Squad:

Jason Holder, Kraigg Brathwaite, Shai Hope, Shane Dowrich, Roston Chase, Shemarh Brooks, Rahkeem Cornwall, Nkrumah Bonner, Alzarri Joseph, Chemar Holder, John Campbell, Raymon Reifer, Kemar Roach, Jermaine Blackwood.

Reserves: Sunil Ambris, Joshua Da Silva, Shannon Gabriel, Keon Harding, Kyle Mayers, Preston McSween, Marquino Mindley, Shane Moseley, Anderson Phillip, Oshane Thomas, Jomel Warrican.

Good for brainstorming but to me it seems "how to lose friend 101" irl.

The friend will always get his money, he doesn't need to know... And you can always stop if you feel uncomfortable.
Sure, you will return him as stakes are low but scenario could change drastically if amount is $9k -$90k so on instead of $900 because profit and loss is speculative in this case. But profit-loss margin is not main concern, important part is your friend doesn't have any slightest idea about your intentions and he's trusting you with his money. I am sure you wouldn't like this idea if roles are reversed. Overall I would say it's not very ethical practice irl

It's like you are about to screw your friend's wife and you are saying it's fine as long as she's going back to your friend. He doesn't need to know anything and you can always stop if you feel uncomfortable.  Grin Grin

I don't know why you guys always talk about postponing the IPL instead of cancelling it. Do you really think that it is a good idea to have an IPL during the 4th quarter of 2020, and then have the next year's edition just 3 months later? It will be like having back-to-back tournaments without any break in between. I am saying this for many months now. The only viable option is to cancel the IPL 2020 and to concentrate on the preparations for IPL 2021.
you have mentioned about the back to back tournaments. I even think that the number of matches will get reduced in those tournaments.
Still it's better to cancel IPL this year. There are lots of problems to conduct the IPL.
1. Spectator less gallery.
2. Problem to conduct home and away match.
3. Regular checkups for the players and supporting staff.

Fair argument..
1. Empty stands is not alien scenario in the cricket or any sports. @7788bitcoin already pointed out one counter argument.
2. For starters BCCI aiming to conduct IPL season in UAE or Srl Lanka not India bc both countries are much safer destination in comparison of India.
3. When any series/tournaments takes place in tough condition, the first thing everyone discuss is safety so i think we should leave this to interesting parties.

Coming back to @vishnu statement, his position on audience's fatigue or overdose of IPL is true and might backfire on BCCI but we shouldn't forget that after 3-4 months halt due to pandemic audience are hungry for some sort of entertainment in the cricket and then we have revenue angle too.

Sri Lanka police call-off 2011 World Cup final match-fixing probe over lack of evidence

Quote
The Sri Lankan police on Friday (July 3) dropped the match-fixing investigation regarding the 2011 World Cup final after they failed to find any concrete evidence of Sri Lankan players letting India win as per latest reports.

Former skipper Kumar Sangakkara, ex-chief selector Aravinda de Silva and a couple of others were interrogated this week over suspicions that have dogged the match for years.

"We are satisfied with their explanation," a top police official told AFP.

"The inquiry is now closed." "They had reasonable explanations about the changes that were made to the final squad," the officer added.

"We found no evidence of any wrongdoing."

As of now, Colin Graves is the most likely replacement, but there are a few other names that are doing the rounds. One of the leading contenders (Ehsan Mani) pulled out of the race a few days back. The only other confirmed name as of now is Dave Cameron of WICB. There are rumors that Sourav Ganguly and Kumar Sangakkara may also join the race.
I would like to see Kumar Sangakkara heading the ICC and Sourav Ganguly who is currently heading the BCCI carrying on in that position for a few years and if these former players are at the helm i am sure we will see good things happen for cricket as they are both legendary players who knows very well how to develop cricket and have the educational background where Sangakkara was a really bright student during his school days and enrolled in Law but not sure whether he was able to complete because he was busy playing for the country and both of them have the leadership qualities to make things great for the sport.
Forget about Sangakkara leading the ICC for next 4 years, his name being nominated for ICC chairman was just rumor. Everyone bought it but Sanga himself put hold on to every little speculation.

^^ Holy cow!! read some reports that they interrogated players for around 5-10 hours or something..

If there is some truth in all allegation then former sport minister should follow Sanga advice and approach the ICC anti corruption unit, call out all names or stop bitching around..

Haha at first i thought the same then reality hit me on the head that travel is banned every where so, no chance. I would say still its some thing and i don't mind if Indian board doing same thing in India as well but BCCI eyes are on IPL only.
Do you really think it is a realistic possibility that we would see IPL this year in India, it might be possible if they take the tournament elsewhere, the situation in India is really going down the drains and i am witnessing it first hand and i am personally terrified seeing the situation that every other place is marked as red zone and i am stuck in the financial capital and i have no idea what the situation would be.
Yeah, not in India but UAE or Sri Lanka according to the reports. BCCI can't afford to cancel IPL tbh, if they do then they are going to suffer heavy lose around INR 4000 cr. News of WC cancellation giving them some hope so let's see.

IPL 2020 not happening in India! BCCI official calls UAE, Sri Lanka front-runners for season 13
Quote
The 13th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) looks all but set to be moved out of the country. In a recent conversation with IANS, a BCCI official hinted that the tournament is moving out this year. He picked Sri Lanka and UAE as front-runners to host the tournament. The report adds that BCCI is waiting for an official word regarding the future of T20 World Cup before taking a final decision regarding IPL 2020.

"We are yet to decide on the venue but in all probability, it is going outside this year. The condition in India doesn't look suited to have so many teams come in at one or two venues and then create an atmosphere which will be safe for the players as well as the general public even though the games may be played behind closed doors,” the official told IANS.

"The race is between UAE and Sri Lanka and we will need to decide on where we host the league depending on the situation there with regards to the coronavirus pandemic. Logistics also need to be looked into, so we will decide soon," he added.
