How does one take delivery then after exercising the option?

In theory you could arrange for "physical" delivery, but by default it's cash settled.

Look closer.

There is a larger than 0 chance that 10 terahashes can solve a few blocks... as "hashes" or "mining shares" don't hold value themselves unless they solve a block and are just used for proof of work, I don't really see how they can be paid/valued in cash other than normalizing them similar to "PPS bonds".

The formula would be (Block_Reward * 10 * 10^12)/(Difficulty * 2^32). That 10 * 10 ^ 12 stands for 10 Th.

Otherwise it may be I don't understand your objection (if it is an objection?).

I'm not saying it can't be done or it can't be done right, I'm just saying it's a level of risk I wouldn't want to take on myself, in any form.

A, now that's certainly a sound position.

This has easily been the most entertaining thing I read all week.

This went to show that there are "known knowns", such that there pigs which eat and grow fat. There are "known unknowns", such that we don't know exactly the genetics that control their fur coloring. And finally, there are "unknown unknowns", such that there may be a flying pig somewhere, who knows.

Fixed it for you.

Also, your theory of catastrophic events significantly overstates risk. Suppose I own the house next to you. Would you not loan me one grain of silver to sell short, even if I pledge my house, because you figure that silver could end up so expensive per ounce that a grain could be worth more than a house?

The head is really cute in the large size, not so much in the smaller size with the body. Here's an idea: make it trophy head?

The trouble is that it... hm. It sort of ends abruptly.

Also, not sure if dividends have been paid on Pure.Synth. None are listed on the asset page or in my statement.

It's true that dividend payments don't currently show under statements. In the interim all dividend payment events are announced on the twitter feed (hashtag "dividend"). F.PURE.SYNTH paid twice so far, as follows:

Your dividend payment for F.PURE.SYNTH in total sum of 951390000 to a notional float of 6000000 has been issued on April 18, 2012, 4:39 pm. Feel free to publish this receipt to your shareholders.

Your dividend payment for F.PURE.SYNTH in total sum of 1763640000 to a notional float of 6000000 has been issued on April 23, 2012, 3:52 pm. Feel free to publish this receipt to your shareholders.

The 2nd is an aggregate of the quasi-daily dividends PUREMINING pays. The 1st is the dividend corresponding to the 2012-04-17 dividend. There was an earlier payment that doesn't show on twitter because the feed didn't exist at the time.

In general MPEx will be paying dividends no more frequently than weekly, with a monthly payment as the golden standard. All dividends paid on ETFs and SYNTH underlyings will be paid in aggregate at that time.

When can we expect dividend statements and statements of interest payments?

This is on the to-do list.

Would be nice to be able to get a complete transaction history (as a separate command) for auditing purposes.

The current STAT command gives you the transaction list since ~ 1 hour before you last ran a STAT command. As long as you keep all your STAT results you should be doing pretty ok auditing-wise.

Hey guys,

While we started to update the systems, we noticed a little bug that seemed to get bigger and bigger with each update.  So we halted the update process and attacked the bug but its clever one. So we took the whole system down overnight to find out what's going on.

WE WILL BE BACK!!!

Good luck with that. (Nevermind me, just wanted to get the first post in right after pirate's last.)
5033  Economy / Securities / [MPEx] Introducing O.HASH.C10TH and O.HASH.P10TH on: April 22, 2012, 09:31:24 PM
These are difficulty-based options. Each option entitles the holder to either buy or sell 10 Terahashes (that is ten million million hashes, or about 115.7 Mh/s running for one day) at the fixed price of 0.075 BTC. Obviously if difficulty increases the value of the O.HASH.P10TH increases, whereas if difficulty decreases the value of the O.HASH.C10TH increases.

All options expire on the last Friday of their respective month (so currently April). Based on overall trade volume we might in the future introduce more strikes as well as next month settlements.

You can read their description pages here: O.HASH.C10TH and O.HASH.P10TH. Happy trading!

5037  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Interest in a Thoroughbred Racehorse on: April 22, 2012, 05:37:54 PM
I must confess that this is very interesting, but bear in mind we're mostly newbies when it comes to horses. A few more details would be very helpful.

Evangeline Downs is nice, but what's first prize? 2nd? What's the entrance fee? Maybe break everything down for us in simple terms: if 1st place the horse makes 5000 dollars, of which net 2300 for shareholders. If 2nd place 3000 dollars, of which 300 net. Etc.
