5021  Economy / Economics / Re: Covid 19 shows how weak People are in the it mind on: September 24, 2020, 02:15:18 PM
Stop complaining and see this as Opportunity!
That's nothing but a sound advice. Challenges throw up opportunities but the weak minds may not be able to grasp it. In Africa where I come from this pandemic has thrown up a lot of opportunities. One of such is the boom of the POS services. Because banks take time to process transactions as most of them shut down some branches and placed their staff on routine shifts in order to adhere to the social distancing and crowd control policy of government, customers in haste now revert to making use of the POS. It's a welcome development for me because a whole lot of new jobs have been created through that means. Another is the mask making opportunities by cloth makers and their merchants. However, the sad part is that it truly exposed the ineptitude of government on the education and health sectors, showing how shabby and ill prepared those are in the face of the pandemic.
5022  Economy / Economics / Re: Food prices doubled this year on: September 24, 2020, 09:24:14 AM
This is a classical case of one having the flu and the nose dripping liquid. These two go hand in hand.

What do we expect when manpower was drastically cut down in huge number within a few months? Of course, productivity will be affected and that is what has led to food shortage with the adverse consequence being demand higher than supply. Invariably, this always results to inflation. We also have this inflation in my country, and it cuts across countries. The world is in a financial jeopardy and I sincerely hope we don't have the 2008 global financial kind of meltdown again.
5023  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Will privacy shrink to the point where it becomes a thing of the past? on: September 24, 2020, 09:05:07 AM
The irony of privacy is the security of it. Every medium that exposes our details and location could serve as protection as well as expose us.
I am a bit lost here with the bolded sentence in your comment. How is our exposed details also serving as our protection? If you don't mind, can you throw more light on that.

Back to the OP, the google location map makes it even scary in exposing us without our consent. You check into a hotel and your location is marked, sometimes on social media especially Facebook. I am always conscious of switching my location off on my phone because of this. You don't want to get whacked for something you don't know.  A lot of crypto holders have been traced to their homes through this. Another is social media sites using data analysis to push adverts to you online with what you might need because of sites you frequent. Facebook does this a lot. Just check up a fitness site, and the next thing Facebook begins to push adverts related to it to you. So scary. We are gradually coming to am end of privacy. Not even the crypto industry which was initially set up to guarantee privacy is keeping it. KYC is now the order of the day with most projects and exchanges.
5024  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When we think that crypto is being used by criminals to move tons of money on: September 23, 2020, 05:44:48 PM
So the next time we hear reports that bitcoin or any other crypto is being the 'choice' of criminals, now, think again!.
Those who give Bitcoin a bad name will expectedly act like they don't see this article. For me, I don't let negative news on Bitcoin twitch my ears. I instantly conclude that such is a FUD. Criminal activities and money laundry have been in existence decades before Bitcoin (and cryptocurrency industry) came into existence. So, I don't see why these detractors are hell bent on tagging Bitcoin alone in it. The banks are the chief culprits.

In other news.. water is wet.
🤔 ... Like the tyres of moving vehicles touching the ground.
5025  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Folgory exchange, the biggest scam ever !!!! on: September 23, 2020, 04:31:52 PM
What a pun, Folgory sounds like forgery and I don't joke with words that look suspicious. I strongly believe in the implications of words. If I must trust an exchange with my money and data, it better not sound funny and suspicious. Users should always check and read up on the Scam thread here before making any investment choice. Sometimes they're saved the headache if they get to find out there's already a scam accusation hanging on the site they intend to register with. Doing one's research ahead has always been a fertile engagement. DYOR, always!

From the look of things, Folgory Exchange has had several scam reports on it. The OP shouldn't have missed it.
5026  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: YFMoonshot Possibility to Scam Hunters on: September 23, 2020, 08:50:54 AM
Few days ago YFMoonshot bounty telegram group deleted.
Whenever an action like that happens, it only points to one thing — Exit Scam. If access to post in the telegram handle were closed and participants migrated to a new one that would've been quite understand in a manner to control spams. But to entirely delete it is an omen of what every bounty hunter dreads.

Again, I think hunters should just relax and not jump into any bounty that has a "YF" tag to them seeing how well the trending YFI pairs are doing. The sad truth remains that most of these bounties don't in anyway have anything related to the YFI pairs. Beware all.
5027  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: It is not easy to make money in cryptocurrency on: September 23, 2020, 07:47:06 AM
Likewise, if you see trade signals that promises certainty, or bounties that promises you a fixed price for your token, be wary. It is not that easy nor realistic.
This is apt and I sincerely hope newbies read and assimilate it because the promises aren't going to stop, at least not anytime soon. Projects promise heaven on earth but often can't deliver on that. Apart from bounties, we also have such crisscrossing other aspects of business. It's there with brokers of Forex trading platform and signal providers promise  mouth watering ROI on investment. I don't waste my energy on such. In fact, I tag any investment promising me more than 1% daily return on my investment as a ponzi scheme.
5028  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: bloody market on: September 23, 2020, 05:46:28 AM
I think people sell their bitcoin and altcoin to join in the defi party because I think they will make a lot of money from the defi.
Obviously, this isn't in a anyway a close reason to that effect because even the popular DeFi project YFI is also down. For me, I think the cause is simply a correction of the market. The way the market surged a few weeks ago it became a source of concern (for me though) that a crash was imminent. That's practically what we're witnessing now and it's the only way to build up Support on the Technical. There should be something to sustain the rise otherwise the crash will be so huge that the market could go further down and flat like it did in 2018. This is a minor crash. I expect the market to be up in a few days' time. However, there is another crash to expect in Dec as investors will expectedly pull out their profits.

But seems its temporary and no major impact we will see down the line. Let's hope the market again starts and will head towards previous highs.
Of course, expectedly the market will soon head north. This won't be the crash that will cause a market Armageddon 😏

5031  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I need advice about my portfolio, can someone help? on: September 20, 2020, 05:50:56 PM
I want to restructure it between these coins (Or other coins).
I am someone who likes to tweak with risk, and your "other coins" mention drew my attention. May be you can still retain your 50% Bitcoin, then do ETH & LTC 30% (between them) while throw 20% to "others" These other coins will give you a better ROI than Bitcoin or ETH and LTC if you pick a gem among the "other coins". Just force yourself to imagine the ROI on YFI for someone who picked it early on before it skyrocketed. Can you? Yes, I know a lot of people will argue here that most of those other coins are shitcoins but that doesn't rule out the rare gems we find among them.
5032  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: India looking to Re-ban Bitcoin on: September 20, 2020, 04:25:37 PM
Just let them be and actually people got already tired on kind of news which do ban and then lift off then ban again like situations. If they totally get rid of it then so be it if they go back then its a good news, just like that.
Exactly my thought too. You just took the word out of my mouth. India may have the population close to China but her activities shouldn't determine what the rest of the world does or believes. From the look of things, Bitcoin isn't going away. The industry has come to stay. Banning Bitcoin will only cut India off the phenomenal tech. It will eventually be her loss, and that will end in regrets. When China banned Bitcoin in 2017, honestly I thought that would be the end of Bitcoin. But look at where we are today without China. I think campaigners should take the Bitcoin awareness thing to Africa. There is a huge emptiness there and a large market too for this tech.
5033  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin such a big risk? on: September 20, 2020, 02:53:37 PM
Is it riskier to place your money in Bitcoin or hold them in a fiat savings account? What's your opinion?
Let me plunge directly into your question while leaving out your bias in the first paragraph (of course, every business is risky). Having said that, I think the technicality of your question still beggars choice. However, relating it with today's world (giving the pandemic) you can easily see that it's a better choice to hold one's money in Bitcoin than in fiat. Amidst this pandemic a lot of countries have suffered loss to the strength of their currencies and financial records, yet Bitcoin keeps soaring in price and value. This, as it stands now, is a simple testament that Bitcoin is the choice to make.
5034  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: The bounty scam will gradually go away on: September 20, 2020, 01:48:12 AM
Bounty scams will never fade away as long as evil won't disappear from the surface of this earth. The only thing is that scams can be mitigated just the way the penitentiary is there to serve as punishment for crime loving individuals. Yes, I agree that Twitter bounties paying in BTC are springing up and I bet one of the major reasons that is even succeeding now is because a few of the trusted managers here are handling that. Very soon more projects and BMs are going to lash onto this angle and that's where problems may likely ensue.
5035  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Someone heard or know about this bitcoin website? on: September 19, 2020, 04:28:58 PM
... the site looks so legit and on .com
so I had to check before I might lose my "free BTC".
Don't be deceived. A site being on .com doesn't prove it to be legit or not. After all, BTT (this site we're on) is on .org, and not .com yet it's as legit as it can be. The .com thing is an old trick of scammers. Flee, bro. BTW, always use coinmarketcap or coingecko to access any exchange you want to make use of to ascertain level of authenticity.

@Stedsm and I sorted it all out in only 1 PM and we are cool and are aware that nobody had no ill intent Cheesy
Oh! You two already had the marriage worked out via pm without a priest 😘. Great one...
5037  Other / Meta / Re: Merit giveaway: is it a good idear? on: September 19, 2020, 05:25:49 AM
I think there's a fine line between merit giveaways that are beneficial, and merit giveaways that are toxic.

Merits should be reserved for quality content imo.
Honestly, this goes a long way to show that the merit thing is highly subjective. What makes a worthy or quality post to one may not make to another. It's different strokes for different folks. Perhaps the OP who merited the two "supposed spam" posters didn't see them as such. It's the same way a guy fancies a lady other guys despise.

A member should not need an incentive to read the rules of a forum they have been in for a couple of months or years.
Well said, and aptly carved out.
5038  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ranking up is possible! 2900 Merits earned in less than 12 months! My 11 Hints! on: September 18, 2020, 05:14:56 PM
Just jumping in to correct you slightly. He certainly didn't mean Hhampuz nor Yahoo when he stated that generalism about BM's and quotas. He mentioned altcoins board and neither Yahoo nor Hhampuz do altcoin bounties, only BTC ones, so they don't fall into that category.

But of those that do fall into altcoin bounties category, there are for sure present, bounty managers that only care about mechanics and quotas and completely disregard the quality.
Thanks CryptoViking for your ease of understanding of my comment. Stedsm, I also understand your perspective on the issue. However, I was strictly thinking of managers who are only involved in managing bounties. Perhaps I should have used the word "few or some" as prefix to make a case for exceptional bounty managers therein (though I have yet to find any.) Going forward, I don't think anyone will be right to refer to Yahoo or Hhampuz as Bounty Managers (even if they may have managed one or two bounties in the past). Most of us here know them as reputable BTC-paying Signature managers and we can't take that away from them. It didn't even cross my mind that anyone would tag them as BMs.

Now guys, let's move on. There is no point quarrelling over that 👨‍❤️‍💋‍👨
5039  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ClipX steals KYC data and shuts down on: September 18, 2020, 12:25:09 PM
~

I wish me has encountered his bounty topic a month earlier. To left in the lurch the bunch of bitcointalk users ... hm, it  does no credit to  the manager somehow related to the project. I have tagged him today.
Well, honestly I don't think the BM deserved to be tagged for that (at least not now, except we can prove a case that BD is a part of the ClipX team). Otherwise, tagging BD is for me too harsh a decision. From BD's claim, said to have argued it out with the ClipX team to drop the idea of a KYC. It's also a loss for them. I think BD also innocently fell prey to ClipX too. However, I believe it should've stood its ground and warned hunters not to go ahead with the KYC

Nevertheless, I opened that thread so that innocent participants can be brought to the knowledge of what dangers lie in exposing their private data to bounty projects and also of what a scam the ClipX team turned into. Nobody should expose their passports, no matter how enticing the bounty seems. As hunters, we should avoid any bounty that demands a KYC that is more that a validation of email addresses.

That was very impressive...There are only few users like you value that much of the forum and this should be inspire us also low rank users to do the same.
You can say that again 😏. Exceptional (or impressive) is even an understatement a description for what the OP has achieved in ranking up. "Very Exceptional" won't be a bad choice of collocation.

As been observed that bitcoin and altcoin discussion had huge spam posts and moderators had already told about this how heavy thier work on moderating in that sections.
The spam is worst in the altcoins board and this is simply because Bounty Managers hardly find time to run through the weekly post history of their participants. The BMs are only interested in meeting up with the quota.
