5041  Economy / Gambling discussion / Are athletes also becoming problem gamblers? on: September 03, 2021, 05:35:15 PM
Accordingly to this article, athletes are more prone to developing gambling addiction than another individuals: Athletes and problem gambling: what do you need to know?

They present the following reasons to justify potential levels of addiction among players and athletes:

  • Quote
Players and athletes are technically more prone to gambling addiction due to the signs of compulsive gambling like winning expectations, energy levels, competitive spirit, and high IQ levels.
  • Quote
Athletes have higher tendencies of gambling because of their skill set. These people start gambling for the challenges and competitors attached to it but it adds to the risk of getting addicted over time.
  • Quote
The competitive spirit and potential have led the athletes to gamble in multiple forms. Along with these comes an additional addiction to alcohol and drugs. Gambling helps them financially and is highly lucrative. The cycle of addiction begins with wanting to get back what is lost which leads to more losses or wins and so on.
  • Quote
In the case of a normal person, after losing money in gambling, he might want to move to safer ways that would eventually help to recover his losses. Whereas, among athletes, it is a sense of superiority and power, and thus winning is the only option for them as they do not like defeat. More money is invested into gambling, and it goes on.  This is where their addiction begins.

It's not a secret many popular athletes had or still have issues with gambling addiction during their lifetime, which prejudiced their personal lives and careers. Is the mentioned competitive spirit a double edge sword, which helps the athlete to improve his performance, but at same time lead him to an insatiable desire for winnings that may end in a frustrated attempt of beating the casinos?

Or is it just bullshit and another attempt of distancing gambling sponsors from sports' industry? What do you think? Share your opinion, please.

5042  Economy / Economics / Re: New York Mayoral Candidates Turn to Crypto for Votes on: September 03, 2021, 06:00:05 AM
I'm surprised every candidates are trying to farm some votes with bitcoin. It doesn't even look that same bitcoin hated by the establishment anymore. Now every politicians want to be crypto friendly and that is a reason to be concerned, because politicians aren't to be trusted and if they are in love with bitcoin it's because there is a shady reason for that. Soon we will see.

Actually they would be more helpful to crypto universe by just not interfering on it. Let the businesses and independent individuals incentivize the usage of bitcoin. Since the beginning it's working this way without any "help" from politicians or governments and it has been a great success.

“We will open more crypto ATMs and incentivize businesses to accept crypto. We must modernize our economy and make it accessible for all,” he added.
I don't understand the obssession people have for ATMs since personal smartphones already fullfil the function of ATMs anywhere. All you need is internet connection and an account in a crypto app.
5043  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Spain bans betting adds - no celebrities, no sport sponsorship, no daytime adds on: September 03, 2021, 01:46:23 AM
The excuse used by the minister of consumer affairs to pass the new rule can be only considered legit if they make another decree declaring their citizens mentally incapable, as only mentally incapable people wouldn't have critical thinking to distinguish what they should do and not do by themselves, consequently acting accordingly to what a celebrity tell them to do or practing an activity just because a soccer player displays it on his uniform.

In a modern civilized society proud of its advancements in social and economical sectors such decrees don't make sense. Why do authorities keep underestimating the capacity of their citizens managing their own lives smartly and efficiently without external interferences?
5044  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: September 03, 2021, 12:01:27 AM

Glad that freebitco.in manages the situation very well. However, I feel sorry for another faucets which have been constantly drained and ended abruptly because of cheaters.

That's why we visitors get spammed with ads to cover up those loses.

Still, the amounts are not worth using multi-accounts or bots smh my head.
Yes, and I hate those pop-up ads opening after every click redirecting the user to different websites. What could be done in 1 second or so takes at least 10 seconds because of intrusive ads. That was one of the reasons I gave up on faucets with the exception of freebitco.in. If I could claim faster I wouldn't bother in receiving little amounts, because at least it would be possible to fastly claim at many different sites.

On the other hand, it's understandable they need this kind of source of income to maintain the site alive.

Seeking for a solution to make the experience more enjoyable for users, some faucets get inspired by freebitco.in and try to introduce the hi-lo game feature as well, but without success.
5045  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: September 02, 2021, 12:11:29 AM
What happens is that some people use bots to farm the faucet all day long. If they purchase the 100 RPs boost per claim (acquired in rewards tab), it's possible to profit extra 1100 RPs daily, plus the normal RPs users already receive by just claiming the faucet.
It should be pointless for cheaters. I guess freebitcoin can easily detect such bots on their website because claiming a faucet every hour is unreal for usual users. I mean that it should be suspicious activity even if a couple of dozen accounts claim 100 RP every hour throughout the day.
Well, I don't know if more than one person is allowed to operate a same account. If so, the excuse of having a brother or relative sharing accounts and consequently farming the faucet all day long because they can't create one for themselves due to the IP restriction could be used. But as many users were alredy blocked there must be another security measures to prevent such abuses from happening.

Glad that freebitco.in manages the situation very well. However, I feel sorry for another faucets which have been constantly drained and ended abruptly because of cheaters.
5046  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Affiliates (Paid Streamers) - Fair or Not to other non-paid gamblers? on: September 01, 2021, 09:44:17 PM
The other side of the coin is this... he is betting on these Slots and he is feeding those Slots for other people too, so if he does not hit the big wins on those Slots he was feeding... then those Slots are filled for other gamblers to win. (Remember : He is filling those Slots with the casinos money too)  Wink
Hmm, thinking this way it doesn't look so bad, right?

But to say the truth I think this kind of advertisement is being more negative than positive for casinos. Everyone is aware about streamers using fake money to gamble and most opinions from the public I've seen reject this concept of propaganda. These guys are actually ruining their reputations as social influencers by pretending to gamble insane amounts of money they wouldn't for real.

I believe casinos should change their marketing strategy. Instead of giving fake money to streamers, just increase their payrates, so they will have to use real money in order to gamble. And of course, they will keep the bets under a reasonable and realistic size, because if the gambler makes huge bets, it will be blatantly obvious that is a fake gambling session leading to unconvincing marketing campaign in my opinion.
5047  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can we do what China did to gaming with gambling? on: September 01, 2021, 07:32:10 PM
It will only make matters worse.

The more you restrict people from doing something, the more that they will do things in order to just get their fill of it. Just take a look at lockdowns during the pandemic. Most people hated being restricted within the confines of their homes, hence some of them are breaking quarantine restrictions in order to just go outside and do what they normally do. This can be the same with gambling, and with that strict of a regulation, people will seek underground gambling platforms in order to just play, or to get their fill of gambling.
Indeed. In my country, for example, gambling is forbidden, but it doesn't prevent lots of people from betting. They just go to illegal houses or virtual casinos instead of the old legal physical casinos we had before the law passed. When the industry was considered legit, there were many people who legally worked in casinos and now these people are unemployed or have to work in the shadows of clandestinity.

Also, morality comes second to the government, especially if they are gaining a lot from the industry. They are earning billions from gambling alone, so why would they restrict it or put some heavy regulations about it?
In some countries restrictions happen for religious reasons, but in China's case I think it's more like a strategy to not let the population fall for addictions of any kinds (as even children are being prevented from playing videogames accordingly to OP). Addictions make people weaker, less productive, so chinese government wants to avoid that, just like they did with opium dens back in 1950's, when they totally erradicated the production and usage of opium.
5048  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: September 01, 2021, 06:48:16 PM

tell me is it true that the site will soon be closed and will be redirected to another casino?

Of course not, Freebitcoin will remain as a faucet with some gambling elements while DPLAY becomes their full-fledge casino

I'm pretty sure they know it isn't true. It's just a troll.
There seem to be a lot more "attack" towards freebitcoin these days, do you have any clue why? I mean aside from hating you for being this good and wanting to pull you down so that they could grow bigger and hiring people to make that work, that has been here for better part of a decade now.

But there is a "new" situation, it is brand new, I have always seen people attacking you technologically, like try to make bots and multiple accounts and many other things and try to win as much as they can, I have even remember some crazy number like some guy having a thousand accounts working on a bot that also gained him affiliate income at the same time, all of which combined would make a proper huge amount. However I do not remember a troll attack all that frequently that looked like they were just trying to drop the quality, credibility? Sure, but quality? I don't know, why would anyone do that?

I really don't think there are more now. I've been doing this for a few years and it seems much better to me now than when I first started. You'll always get a few like this one who is just bitter because he lost $100 gambling.  Then there's always a few cheats who get upset when their bot farms get banned. You'll probably see more of them for a while because we have some big improvements to our anti-fraud system recently.

I really don't see the logic in using a bot in freebitco.in, maybe hitting the roll? but it is something that does not make any sense, at least for me it does not, unless I do 1M accounts and they do everything like that, but I think it is something exaggerated, and now the platforms have a lot of security, in fact freebitco.in It has the captcha, besides that it is a platform that has been in the crypto world for years, I knew the crypto world thanks to Freebitco.in, I am really very grateful to this platform for it, since 2017 I have been in this world, and I do not see that There is a reason to close it, I think there are many players who do not resist losing and seek to blame the sites for their failures.

To gamble it doesn't make sense, moreover the site already offers a kind of bot for gambling. What happens is that some people use bots to farm the faucet all day long. If they purchase the 100 RPs boost per claim (acquired in rewards tab), it's possible to profit extra 1100 RPs daily, plus the normal RPs users already receive by just claiming the faucet.
Also, I believe they attempt to run several accounts simultaneously, increasing the profit considerably if using that strategy in multiple accounts, although bankrupting the site at same time.
5049  Economy / Economics / Re: El Salvador retirees protest against Bitcoin as legal tender on: September 01, 2021, 06:16:29 PM
I am not entirely sure if I am understanding this correctly or not, maybe it is just me and I would like it if someone explains to me what the problem is all about. I personally thought that this was given as an option to people who live there, if it is an option then why are they going against it? If you are a retired person who doesn't want anything to do with bitcoin then all you have to do is ignore it? I mean if it is just an option then do not pick that option. Don't they have their own currency as well?

Also do not get me started on volatility, it usually goes up and it made everyone a lot of money if they stand here and not sell their coins whereas the fiat currency in every nation dropped in value by a large margin, so it is a good thing even for a retired person, they would have been richer. If it is just an option then why are they not ignoring it, could someone explain that to me please?
I've seen these protesters are afraid of receving their pensions and welfare in bitcoin futurely, so they want to make sure the government keeps the payments in dollar (the country doesn't have local currency), while demonstrating their insatisfaction with the digital currency and the low value of pensions paid to retired citizens by the government.
But of course, I think this protest is following a political agenda from the establishment which isn't confortable with the change in the financial system. The statement from supreme court of justice's member presented in OP gives a good clue about it. It really doesn't make much sense to say no to Bitcoin since no one is being forced to adopt it.

The man below was selling badanas during the protest. Since the main complaint of the protest was poor pensions, lack of decent income for veterans and pensioners, I suppose he didn't profit a lot... Or is there anyone sponsoring protests like this to uneducate the population regards bitcoin?
5050  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: September 01, 2021, 04:38:56 PM
Russia - Croatia should be a decent game for the neutrals today. Both teams opened the qualifications with 2 wins and a loss and occupy the qualifying positions currently.

I hope Croatia goes for the win today, in a few days we play away to Slovakia as well before hosting Slovenia. 3 of the toughest games in the same international window, not much room for error. Most of our players are out of form, but from what I've seen so far - so are the Russians. Could be a high scoring game.
It will be an important game for both teams in order to guarantee their positions in group H. Only a winning is interesting, because Slovakia is close at the third position with serious chances of reaching the top one if they win the next game against Slovenia and if Russia and Croatia tie their match. So Russia and Croatia need to put themselves in offensive position and score at all costs.
Furthermore, without the star player Modric, the game must be more balanced, giving Russia more chances to beat the adversary. I expect it's going to be an energetic game full of emotions with players putting a lot of effort for their national teams.
5051  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: September 01, 2021, 03:52:46 AM
Finally, we have some national games also.  Grin  France are going to be hosting Bosnia & Herzegovina and they are the absolute favorite of the game. They should be able to destroy Bosnia here. Portugal on the other hand are going to play against Ireland. Ronaldo got an arm injury but it looks like he bounced back. If he plays in this game, Portugal would win this game very easily.

Both the games are going to be close and I won't be surprised if an upset occurs with either of them. France is very strong on paper, but they are the same team who couldn't even qualify for the Quarter-finals stage in Euro 2021. And remember all the controversy after the match? The family members of Adrien Rabiot and Paul Pogba insulted each other and fought in public, with Kylian Mbappe's father also joining in later. Same goes for Portugal as well, but at least in their case they lost against the no.1 team in the world.
France is always unpredictable. Sometimes they are very good and sometimes they are really bad. It's actually hard to see the national team in an average position. For the next game I guess it won't be a difficult challenge for France, because the adversary Bosnia hasn't won a single dispute since 2019. They have scored only 1 point in two games, while France has won two games in group D, including one game against Bosnia last march already.

There isn't much at Bosnia's favour besides the fact french national team will be composed by many first-timer players, as the regular ones are treating injuries, or maybe Deschamps just want to preserve their strength, effort and energy for a stronger opponent ahead.
5052  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: September 01, 2021, 01:07:18 AM
David Luiz is now without a club? He's quitting Arsenal FC and no one has taken him? Something's not right. In his career there were €120 million in transfer fees, more than any other central defender in the world. At the age of 34, the Brazilian is available on a free transfer. His expiring contract with Arsenal FC will not be extended and that was already certain in May this year. There are still 2 years possible to play at a good level.

There was interest from Turkish and Brazilian clubs but he wanted huge contract so he couldn't get what he wanted. I know Beşiktaş was pretty interested in him as a starting eleven defender, they wanted to put Luiz next to Vida and goes to Champions League with that strong defense but Luiz wanted 5 million Euro per year. This is impossible for any Turkish clubs, we can't pay that much money to anybody. It's over now as Beşiktaş got Montero for defense. Adana Demirspor was also interested in Luiz but they have no money for him, this looked impossible from the start.
Now I see latest news that Benfica might sign him. Maybe he will go there as it's clear that he won't retire this season at this age.
There are many clubs interested in David Luiz right now. Last news I have seen said Benfica gave up on him, because he doesn't fit the style of the coacher, Jorge Jesus, who prefers a defensive player with different characteristics (probably different team play behavior).

Hard to know precisely what is happening on the backgrounds right now because there are lots of speculations going on at different sites, but Sporting from Portugal is also trying a contract with David Luiz as are more 3 brazilian clubs, Flamengo, Atlético MG and Corinthians. However I'm not aware about the values offered by the clubs yet.
5053  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Next US president pro-bitcoin? on: September 01, 2021, 12:15:47 AM
What would happen if someone, lets say Bob. Goes out and says "We got a problem. Previous governments have been doing too much QE. Inflation is going wild. We will now adopt Bitcoin as legal tender."

Would Bob get elected? Or would majority of people not like Bob?

LOL.. such policies will make Bob a Libertarian. And Libertarian candidates usually receive around 2%-3% of the votes in the POTUS elections (back in 2020, Jo Jorgensen received 1.18%). So that gives you an idea how practical it is to make claims such as this one. Democrat and Republican parties are solidly behind the national currency (i.e the US Dollar). Trump is believed to be somewhat pro-Bitcoin, but even he won't approve what you have posted. So my prediction is that Bob would receive some 2% of the vote and zero electoral college votes.
Actually Trump said he doesn't like bitcoin and that it looks like a fraudulent scheme. He said bitcoin prejudices dollar and he totally supports dollar currency as the main world's currency.
But you are right about the votes percentage. A bitcoin proposal isn't enough to push a candidate up in an election. What really matters in a political campaign is money. If the candidate has money plus influence to buy support from another politicians and from the people he wins, that is how it works. Proposals play a little role in political disputes. They are just smoke screen.
5054  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: August 31, 2021, 08:59:38 PM
PSG is just very rich club and doesn't care. Putting a star in their shirts is the ultimate goal of the owner and he is ready to sacrifice Mbappe for free for that. PSG tried its best directly and indirectly via his father and friends to convince Mbappe to renew the contract but everything seems to fail. We will see if there is something that will happen in the last few hours.

Even though PSG is rich, refusing 220 million euros is a reckless act because with that much money PSG will be able to do a lot. As a result of this action, PSG must be ready to lose Mbappe for free because his heart is not for PSG anymore, no matter how many times PSG offers a contract extension, I guess it will certainly be rejected by Mbappe.

I agree with you. Mbappe no longer wants to stay at PSG. No player should be forced into the team. PSG should sell him. Besides, Mbappe is a bit selfish. He does not want to adapt to Messi. Which would not be good for the team. PSG should sell Mbappe to Real Madrid. 220m is a big amount.

Psg wants 220 million, but this does not mean that Real Madrid will pay that kind of money. And it could be that PSG will raise the price even higher. They hope that they can persuade the player to renew the contract so that they can dictate terms to any club. But I think Mbappe's desire to move to Real Madrid is strong enough to achieve his goal and fulfill his dream.

Real Madrid were actually ready to pay €200m. As far as I know, their last offer was it. But PSG still resisted the offer and didn't even say anything. I know that PSG are a really rich club and they won't care about his being free agent at the end of the season. But still, I don't think that it was a wise decision. If they let him go for that amount, they would pay an incredible amount of money for Erling Haaland and get him. Maybe it wouldn't be easy but I believe they would manage somehow.
Real Madrid was really generous to increase the offer from €180m to €200m since the last negotiation, and even after that PSG didn't accept the offer. It makes me believe PSG didn't want to sell Mbappe since the beginning. PSG wants him to play at least one season partnering with Messi and Neymar, composing a top tier 1 unbeatable trio.
Is this approach more profitable for PSG than the offer made by Real Madrid, or is the symbolic meaning of this trio for the history of soccer and PSG itself more important than financial profits for the club?
5055  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Credit card bans introduced in Ireland. on: August 31, 2021, 08:19:07 PM
Worthless proposition from worthless authorities. Gamblers won't stop gambling and going into debt because credit cards and advertisements are going to be censored. There are another ways to acquire credit to gamble and I would say they are much more dangerous if compared to credit cards...

I guess you're thinking of them ending up borrowing money from a private lender, mobster or something. But even today there are much easier alternatives. You can get instant loans for example. Then you deposit in the casino with a debit card the money you have borrowed. In other words, the ban will be of little use.
Yes, you guessed right, that is what I mean. If the gambler's mind isn't in order it's too dangerous to take loans. He might even start borrowing money from safe sources, like a relative, a bank or something like this, but once the debt keeps rising and he can't figure out how to paid it back, he will keep searching for new sources and at some point only private lenders, mobsters will take the risk of lending money to this person.
Then it's when the situation becomes really dangerous, because these people won't solve a non-paid loan issue through a legal action in a court. They go after the gambler and his family and in worse cases, well, you know what I mean.
5056  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin assets cannot be blocked - is that helping terrorists? on: August 31, 2021, 08:10:20 PM
While bitcoins can't be blocked, the terrorist still need to convert their coins. Either directly use bitcoins for doing purchases or to exchange it into fiat and then use them for illegal purposes. Both of these ways can easily be tracked. In my opinion it is just a matter of time until the punishments to help terrorist will increase. If you for example except bitcoins from terrorists to buy chemicals which then will be used to make bombs you will be held accountable.
That is a good point. For some time bitcoins held by terrorists may be safely hidden, but money isn't useful if stored forever. Sooner or later, as this money is moved, it will left some tracks and intelligence department of USA plus their allies will find it and everyone else involved on the financial operations. Furthermore, funds held in bitcoin must have came from somewhere else, what means there is also a fiat origin that can be tracked.

It would be worse if the funds were held in paper money. Then I would say it is helping terrorists, because that is the only kind of money which leaves no traces. Ironically, it's the favorite method of storing money of politicians. Cheesy
5057  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Factors affecting bitcoin business on: August 31, 2021, 05:58:39 PM
Political instability - when political system in the country is not stable, everything will get down.
That is totally right. Many countries live under total political instability nowadays. It happens because we have a very splitted population inside a same country. Half of the population doesn't agree and wants the opposite of the another half of the population. It leads to a hostile climate, which affects the society negatively in all aspects: social, economical, professional, ethical...
One of the main consequences is the lack of interest from investors for those countries, because they don't know how it is going to be the next day, as they be affected by sudden abusive regulations. Since it's a risky deal to invest in such countries, they just prefer to move their money to places where they can find stability, a pacific society that literally speaks the same language.

Just like investors, bitcoin can be also negatively affected by those same regulations. I believe a solution would be if unstable countries were finally splitted in half or more, like the old kingdoms of Europe, so each citizen could live on the territory he agrees with the political spectrum.
5058  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why should other countries did not accept Bitcoins? on: August 30, 2021, 08:01:18 PM
Often I hear the main reason Bitcoin cannot be accepted by the government is because it is not controlled, and I think that makes sense.
Yes, because bitcoin's volatility many governments don't want to incentive or make it legal. They say it's too risky to use bitcoin as currency or investment. Actually that is the only government's excuse that makes some sense.

The government doesn't want to lose the value of taxes from people who previously reported the price of their wealth to the government, but if Bitcoin is accepted then the government can't demand someone to pay taxes because the Government can't know how much wealth the people have.
Well, bitcoin isn't totally anonymous. Businesses paying their employees in btc would have to report the data to the government and pay taxes anyway. Furthermore, employees' btc addresses would be attached to their owners as well, so nobody would be able to hide their wealths.

The second reason if Bitcoin is accepted will threaten the existence of Fiat in the country, because if people know how easy it is for someone to profit from Bitcoin, people will prefer Bitcoin over Fiat.
People still need to take some risks in order to profit from bitcoin, but if the government really fears fiat may become useless if bitcoin becomes accepted as legal tender, it's the proof they really don't believe fiat is a good option when another alternatives are offered to the population. That means they are aware fiat is weak, fragile and just want to forbid anything that could replace it to preserve the currently system.

Or maybe these gamblers can just move to another country to play without any problems.

If the people who introduced this ban were really worried about gamblers, they would firstly worry about the mental health of the players and help them with that. That is the root of the problem.
5060  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Every altcoins has chance on: August 30, 2021, 01:47:58 AM
I've seen several times that every altcoins doubles the price in a single day which means every coin or token has its opportunity to boom. IF BTC price does down they drop but suddenly they skyrocket by the next day itself, it's pretty hard to judge which coin might pump for the next day. Is there any specific website which might help me to identify? Kindly share your thoughts.

No not altcoins have a chance, investors are wiser now and they know what to look for in a coin, this is not 2017 where developers create a coin and investors will just pump it, we are past all this, if a coin is not attached to any platform and has nothing to offer to the community that they can use then this coin is useless, some of the coins with real usage are Binance, Ethereum, Tron if you've invested in a coin that has nothing to offer then it has no chance in the market.
But what about the called meme coins? They are useless, don't offer any useful feature to adopters, investors know about it and still invest on them anyway, pumping their prices to ridiculous levels. That is an evidence any altcoin has some chances of returning decent profit to investors on short run. However I agree with the altcoins options you mentioned and I think serious investors should really stick only with solid crypto currencies.
A good way to check if an altcoin worths the investment is to check for what reason people are using it. If there is a real demanded product behind the coin I would say it's a good investment.
