5061  Economy / Goods / Re: Looking to sell $125,000 bottle of Brandy. Looking for leads, ideas or trades! on: September 04, 2015, 04:05:42 PM
125k and it's not VSOP or XO? That seems... odd.

Sorry I can't be more specific on the bottle, but I can say that people may or may not be right about which bottle it is on the first page of this thread.

I mean... there aren't exactly many $1 million dollar bottles of Brandy out there.

aaah damn...
i was looking for a good drink.... no pic no honey

Eh sry.  I hate listing shit without a picture.  I just have to stay within my set guide lines.

We will send pictures to interested buyers.  (gay I know, but it is what it is)

Edit: Picture added to the OP.  Additional pictures can be provided.

5063  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase Decides Not to Refund Customers in Double Billing Glitch on: September 03, 2015, 11:38:09 PM
It's not a scam.  They accidentally double billed.  Happens all the time.

They are refunding it and offering to also refund any bank charges.

Stop acting like a doofus.

It doesn't "happen all the time".

They aren't refunding peoples cash.  They are giving them Bitcoins they didn't intend on buying.

Do you have a business that drafts from peoples accounts?  It's kind of a big deal to double tap peoples shit and then not give them their money back at least...

Actually, they are refunding the money.

Quote
Originally we decided it was best to resolve this by crediting the amount of bitcoin for the second charge, but customer feedback indicates a strong preference for a direct and immediate refund of the full amount.

That's directly from an email from them.

OP should correct the misleading title of the thread.

Sorry for the insult, I thought it was clear.  Perhaps it wasn't.
Now it should be.

Thanks for your follow up post.  Happy to see them doing the right thing.

I don't get whats the notable news here. They made an error, i get that, but they are crediting user's accounts with counter value in btc, which seams
to me like the most reasonable solution in this case. It's unfortunate how this even happened, but that they are "shady" because of this, definitely not.

They would prefer not to incur overhead costs that would be incurred if refunding customers correctly. They are forcing customers to take on additional capital investment positions that they never sought to take. And since the price of bitcoin has downtrended during/after the period in question, everyone affected is in a losing investment position.

I think it's despicable, actually.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Coinbase is willing to do some nasty ass things to support their shit.

That pump n dump on the downtrend market was fairly beastly as well earlier this year.

Just keep pounding them with complaints to Local, State and Federal people.

They are one of the easiest places to get coins in my experience
and despite this error (all businesses have errors), I still think
they are a great company.

You want to take down coinbase?  Don't see how that will be
good for adoption.

Fuck adoption if it requires getting scammed by these bastards.

Pirateat40 and the Silk Road were good for adoption... Coinbase just road the coat tale and leached off the real hustlers.

Bitcoin vendors are pimples.  Once you pop one about 3 more larger ones show up.

I don't find this sketchy, its pretty standard.

I feel horrible for your "standards".
5066  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Selling 12 BTC for PayPal on: September 03, 2015, 10:43:08 PM
I have 12 BTC for sale, I want to sell them all in one trade.
Escrow is a must (unless you send first)

If you want the coins right away asking BTC-E +10%
Asking +5% if you can wait 48 hours to receive the coins. (In 2 days I can have the money out of PayPal in my bank)

You do understand escrow isn't going to protect you.

I feel like a broken record, but don't take Paypal for BTC.

You can buy stolen Paypal accounts with BTC for like 10-25% face value.

Seems like a shady ass way to sell twice as many Bitcoins and then tell people to fucking bad.

I will be filing complaints against this company in regards to this and strongly suggest others to do the same.

The more complaints... the faster the FED can pwn these fucks... the faster we can sue them into the middle of next year for their pump and dump "Rick Roll" scam news without as many worries if the FEDS didn't pwn them.
5070  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If CoinWallet.eu is stressing BTC... Do you support stressing CoinWallet.eu? on: September 03, 2015, 08:37:24 PM
The attack is actually a joke, just add the following to your bitcoin.conf and it won't have any effect.
Code:
blockmaxsize=1000000
mintxfee=0.00005
minrelaytxfee=0.00005
limitfreerelay=5

The attacker simply increases the transaction fee at no cost to the attacker. There is a lot more to this attack than meets the eye. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1157584.msg12277703#msg12277703.

Noticed this post right under yours.

5071  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: [ANN] a-ads.com: advertise your business, monetize your traffic, earn with us! on: September 03, 2015, 06:45:58 PM
Started using your ads the other day and noticed some problems with how the information is reported.

I posted ads from one domains code to another domain and it is very clearly not matching the sum of the two domains traffic vs my Google Analitics.

I'm going to make a separate code for each site from now on.

Feel free to PM me and I'd be happy to show you what I'm talking about.

tl;dr

Make a new a-ad for every site!

Edit: OP messaged me and I now understand what I was seeing and were to see it.

5073  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Devianttwo is a Pedophile AKA Robert Christopher on: September 03, 2015, 02:42:31 AM
I would love to see the mathematical equation that solves for you NOT being a pedophile and knowingly downloading CP.

The fact you got caught and suddenly find "Jesus" is meaningless to your guilt.

~BCX~

He admits his guilt:

<snip> I made a poor judgment call with what I did and I will pay for it. <snip>

Very "brave" of you to admit your guilt.  One day I bet the masses will be giving awards to chomos just like the trannies & gays... hang in there Champ!

On a serious note.

Devianttwo, I'll be praying for you that you get better and your time isn't to hard.  At least you have time to repent & get in shape.

on that same thread Gavin proposed a one-time bump to 20mb with no further increases (as he'd tested that already). Wladimir didn't even bother replying to us.

Not in favor of dos'ing these guys (although they do deserve it...). The reason is, they might be mad and retaliate and we really should't be giving them much attention...

I agree to not retaliate. They are acting wrong, blocking lots of users (I have two transfers waiting for hours now), but we cannot fall in the same actios or it would be chaos.

Eye for an eye makes the whole world go blind I suppose.
5076  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If CoinWallet.eu is stressing BTC... Do you support stressing CoinWallet.eu? on: September 02, 2015, 08:01:27 PM
Dunno who they are, but I'm pretty sure Coinwallet.eu has no business. It's just a front for someone's agenda. ...

Yes, I believe this as well.
It is most likely a fake company created for a purpose of covering (1) an actual attack, or (2) a real world system test.

Coinwallet.eu is not an actual business and will one day disappear.

If Coinwallet.eu are the FED... there is no telling how many BTC they have stashed from selling cocaine (and such) to the SR vendors.
5077  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If CoinWallet.eu is stressing BTC... Do you support stressing CoinWallet.eu? on: September 02, 2015, 03:36:15 PM
Stress testing a product is part of every sound engineering process that wants to improve a product and make it more robust. While very inconvenient when this happens it can only get out stronger. The problem here is that testnet can't simulate every real cases.

No.

You and I both know sound engineering isn't the reasoning behind these attacks.  They are attacking the network trying to force a sketchy ass fix.

Perhaps Coinwallet.eu could use some stress testing on their product to assure their engineering is sound... you know... to help make it more robust.  Roll Eyes

Why? Because he is pointing how the decision making process is actually broken which is true?

Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on this?

The way I read their PR thing is that they are using this attack as a way to promote their business because their customers won't be effected because of Coinwallet.eu fucking shit up for the rest of the unknowing folks.

Quote
I wasn't asked to sign it. The first time I saw it was today.
Regardless, now I've read it, the letter contains a few statements I would have found it tough to agree with.
It refers to "the consensus building process". There is no such process. This point has been hammered home over and over again by now, but unfortunately, the Bitcoin Core developers seem to be in denial about it. Whenever we ask somebody to write down this process or tell us what it is, most of them go silent and Adam points to "BIP 1", which doesn't specify any decision making process or means for resolving disagreement. It suggests a continuation of the mentality that every decision has one clearly correct answer on which literally everyone can agree if only there is enough time spent talking. That's clearly not the case here.
I'm honestly not sure what else I can do at this point. The Core developers continue to insist that they have some deeply scientific, academic and professional decision making process. They just won't say what it is. They will say, though, "give it more time".
It says:

Quote
We ask the community to not prejudge and instead work collaboratively to reach the best outcome through the existing process and the supporting workshops
This sounds fantastic - there is an existing process and the workshops will support that process.

But this just continues to reflect confusion around what these workshops are actually intended to do. The website FAQ says:
https://scalingbitcoin.org/montreal2015/

Quote
Absolutely no decisions are made at workshops
There will probably be no debate

Additionally it says governance will not be discussed.
So we have a project that has no formal process (or even an informal one really), yet claims the workshops will help support that process, whilst simultaneously saying that the workshops won't involve any decision making or governance discussion.
I find this to be a rather inconsistent approach.
The final statement I'd disagree with is this one:

Quote
We believe this is the way forward and reinforces the existing review process that has served the Bitcoin development community (and Bitcoin in general) well to date

The process that served Bitcoin well to date was Satoshi being maintainer, and then Gavin. That was the case up until April of last year. Lots of people really don't like this idea because it sounds so fragile, but for most of Bitcoin's history technical disputes were resolved through Gavin making proposals, listening to feedback and then making a decision in reasonable amounts of time. Bitcoin was not being served by this non-existent fairy tale process that the existing Bitcoin Core guys want so badly to believe in.
