1  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: FreeBitco.in Appears Hacked - Monthly Prize Money Stolen From Multiple Users on: Today at 08:55:05 AM
That's when I made the mistake of enabling 2FA

Even with 2fa, my default profile address never changed (pictured), and that's the withdraw I used.

2fa should protect... unless it's displaying a fake address, because I tripled checked that dude. (no emails notifying of account changes either)

I don't think it's by chance that the contest winners got hit.  It was a big way to leak that amount at once for someone that is in the system, but doesn't have the private keys + requires action from the user.  *shrugs*

I'm looking forward to an official answer or update...
2  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Future of testnet3 network. on: Today at 08:37:32 AM
Testnet fees are now higher than Bitcoin fees. I'd say that's a win!
The only thing weird here is that if you use the same tool to see fees on which network is higher, you get a different results.
Blockcypher reports higher fee on mainnet compared to testnet 0.00069 BTC/KB vs 0.00032 BTC/KB
mempool.space reports higher fee on testnet compared to mainnet 25 sat/vB vs 47 sat/vB

Sometimes these fee estimators either have bugs or use different methodology that returns different fee estimation. I believe mempool.space is more accurate though.

It's like this with Bitcoin too for these estimator services.  Bitcoin Core's estimator is likely the worst offender.

All that matters is what their client can see.  (I've clearly had this bite me in the ass a few times on main net.)

We used to use our own wallet to estimate our fees, but for some reason couldn't see the whole network, now we use Mempool.
3  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Future of testnet3 network. on: Today at 04:23:32 AM
Looking at above UTXO data and news i shared on this thread, it could be combination of Ordinal and Rune spam.
They should make their own version of Testnet: they can mine as much as they want, they can spam as much as they want, they can hype as much as they want, and they're not bothering the rest of us. Let's call it an altcoin. How ironic would that be, if Runes complete the cycle all the way back to the first thing created to get money from gullible people?

Testnet fees are now higher than Bitcoin fees. I'd say that's a win!

Shit is being tested... that much is for sure. Tongue

Win.

Let's call it an altcoin.

Testnet is already an altcoin.

Another problem they see is that the testnet started trading publicly about a year ago on altquick.com (the closed market has been around for a long time...) which is completely logical given its similarity to BTC (limited supply, mining...) Yes, I have no problem with that. The market also has positives, for example, people who need a quantity they cannot obtain from available sources will not misuse services such as faucets. People will not HODL testnet, it will circulate again, and people who buy testnet, will sell it again after use...

Altquick uses FreeBitcoins.com to provide a free faucet for those not needing whole coins or wanting to use the free market.

AltQuick doesn't determine prices... the market does, so if Bitcoin Testnet has zero value... the free market should reflect that.

It's the best way to run a faucet + keep coins circulating IMO.

We intend on listing v4 if needed.  *shrugs* No biggie... Testnet don't die, they multiple and it's our strongest market... (which is fucking insane).

it is a security freebitco.in issue.

I 100% agree.  People should avoid using FreeBitcoin until this is identified, patched, disclosed and rectified by FreeBitco.in's team.

I hate doing this, but I went ahead and made a post in the "Scam Accusation" section:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5495097.msg64024210#msg64024210

Again, I STRONGLY recommend not logging into your FreeBitcoin account right now.
6  Economy / Scam Accusations / FreeBitco.in Appears Hacked - Monthly Prize Money Stolen From Multiple Users on: May 02, 2024, 09:54:14 PM
Well, this is a first in my 10+ Bitcoin career... Hacked, but I *STRONGLY* believe it is on FreeBitco.in's side and I would strongly suggest NOT logging into your account until Support settles it.

(Background: I own FreeBitcoins.com and AltQuick.com.  We have used FreeBitco.in for years to help fund our own faucet.)

1. I received an email that I had won a $300 affiliate prize.
2. I logged into my account and saw the 0.004 flash to zero.
3. I received an email for a withdraw to an unknown account:15C8FetAcZ7fkdgf2FAHamwqX4EUE1zhgP
4. I deleted this email right away to prevent it from being clicked if I was pwned.
5. I changed the password and applied QR 2fa on my account.
6. I then received an email that my withdraw to the unknown account was canceled. (April 30 at 21:47)
7. I then requested an "Instant" withdraw to my Bitcoin address on file as fast as possible after the above time and confirmed that it had not changed.  Normally this withdrawal takes 15 minutes.  I used my profile address button and double checked my addy before clicking as well.
8. Roughly an hour later, at April 30 at 22:42, I received an email that my payment had been processed to 15C8FetAcZ7fkdgf2FAHamwqX4EUE1zhgP.  I never received a second email for the payment after the first one canceled... which seemed strange.

This seems to have happened to multiple prize winners and appears to be a targeted attack for the prize money.

It also seems to be that FreeBitcoin is likely has their system compromised.  I used no copy/paste.  All of my account information is showing the same as I've had it forever on my front end.

Something is seriously wrong.  I've used this website for *years* and hate writing this.

My normal and unchanged account address:

I strongly believe this was a targeted hack because I can't understand why I wouldn't have been targeted on 4/10 or 4/11.

There are also multiple users who won the contest that appear to have had the same thing happen to them as well.

For the time being, we've temporarily removed our FreeBitco.in affiliate links from AltQuick.com and FreeBitcoins.com.  (Which I hate doing as well, because we have over 5,800 affiliates...)

I waited a few days to see if their customer support would answer in their thread before making this post.  My OP is here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=320959.msg64015156#msg64015156

I'm certainly not compromised because if someone was changing my addy's... lol.. 0.004 btc would be the least of my losses.

It feels too strange to be random.

Hoping this gets rectified and solved on FreeBitco.in's end.
7  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: May 01, 2024, 11:24:17 PM
Who is the sender of this email precisely? Is it a TLS email signed by Freebitco.in? Does it really come from Freebitcoin(mail.freebitco.in) or could it be a fake email forged by an external hacker for example?

The email is definitely from FreeBitco.in.

This is when it was canceled.

You've said above you are confirming your withdrawals through email links and now you say you're using "2fa" for that. It's a little bit confusing because AFAIK when the 2FA option is enabled you don't receive email links to confirm your withdrawal requests CMIIW.

The account didn't have 2fa.  I installed that while waiting for the first withdrawal attempt to expire.

This was my first 2fa withdraw.  Normally, if I withdraw to my account on file (which is what I did), it doesn't even require an email.  It did however require 2fa.

I never received a second email attempting to withdraw to the hackers address... just the email saying it was sent.

<br>

It has to be FreeBitcoin's side + a targeted hack because why would I get pwned along with all these other folks, but not on 4/10 or 4/11...?

I didn't copy/paste an address or anything.  I clicked "Use Profile Address".

8  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: May 01, 2024, 06:14:41 AM
I have lost the least (tenth place in the referral wagering contest). My first ever prize!

This is a big service.  I'm sure they will make it right.

It's obviously something on their end.

1.  So many of us are similar.
2.  I did my shit right and it still went to that canceled/nonclicked addy and not my default...

I'm not worried about it.  Just wait for their customer support and pray it isn't deeper.  It was definitely targeted / used some fuckery to get around withdraws.

I'm sure this will get worked out.  I've never been hacked before and I felt I did everything right. *shrugs*

If I was compromised... I'd have WAY bigger issues than 0.004 btc with my services I use to affiliate here.

Just relax and wait.
9  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: May 01, 2024, 03:45:38 AM
We won an affiliate wagering contest.  Then within a hour.  The balance showed in my account when I logged in and then flashed to zero and is stacking back up.

Suddenly I got a email about a withdraw that I did not submit.  I deleted the email right away and activated 2fa + pw change.

User ID: 3272909

Is there a way to see withdraw history?  Can I see this pending withdraw in my account anywhere or does it just come back after the email expires in one hour?  I feel like normally I see pending withdrawals at the top of the page, but that maybe after the email has been clicked. (Which the email was not clicked)

It's strange because we've had larger balances... seems it got nailed right after the prize notification.  (Forwarn for others)

My withdraw canceled.

I submitted a fast withdraw and it required 2fa.

Should be on the blockchain in 15 minutes or so. (Roughyl a hour later and nothing... I chose the fast option.  I think FreeBitcoin is having some issues.  I'll update)

So so so weird......

I just got this email three minutes ago...

We have just sent a payment of 0.00496080 BTC to your bitcoin address 15C8FetAcZ7fkdgf2FAHamwqX4EUE1zhgP.

To view the transaction, go to https://www.blockchain.com/en/btc/tx/fe0bb6f5974ecc25860bbc44d4b251d347f6c1e19010e7e170d716d35a4abf2f.

It might take upto 6-24 hours for the coins to appear in your wallet.

This makes no sense.  I used my default payment address on the withdraw (3NxEDLbpNSvugEXpuz1kGcUm1GWcfSVdRP).  The first payment to that "15C8FetAcZ7fkdgf2FAHamwqX4EUE1zhgP" address was canceled, and I received the email saying it was canceled, then I submitted to my normal profile address + used 2fa, then I got the email that my txid was sent to this "15C8FetAcZ7fkdgf2FAHamwqX4EUE1zhgP" address.... (No second click verification for the outside address, just the notification it paid out.)

Is FreeBitco.in hacked?

Does it matter? Because developers are actively working on testnet4, and discussing the network reset: https://groups.google.com/g/bitcoindev/c/9bL00vRj7OU

Which means, that even if some faucets are working right now, they could become worthless, if the network would be resetted.

It does matter.  I was going to donate.

Also, v3 Testnet wouldn't just stop working suddenly.

Finally, v4 Testnet would be easily able to obtain I'd imagine...

People need to be testing, learning, and building.

When goerli testnet after have some value i noticed a huge use in the blockchain so much that surpassed 20000 tx per day and the value ethereum start gain more value, ethereum devs decided deprecated goerli testnet for sepolia testnet months later sepolia have a low use less than 600 tx per day.
what ethereum devs did was a really big mistake. this make shut down  many test dapps, swaps bridge etc, lossing millions of dollars in value and lossing millions of new users for ethereum mainet.

Bitcoin testnet was hard to find, faucets already was empty, now thanks to the small value in TBTC people can get them easily and thanks for  that millions of persons use it, this will bring huge value for BTC mainet due many people are starting testing with TBTC. you can notice the huge amount tx per day in tBTC mempool.

due that developer started create new applications and solutions for BTCmainet, bridge, EVMbtc, ordinals etc. that will bring millions of new users to BTC is obvious what is going to happen to btc price thanks to Tbtc.

so is very clear that economic principles are obvious in any ecosystem, any one that say that x thing have no value is just a marxist. i have study the economy in very different systems and is clear the conclution, all system find the nature equilibrium, in this case value due the lack of supply and the constant demand.

this kind of equilibred systems will be attaked by group of persons, devs(marxists), or attakers haters. i have studied many ecosystems attaked by the devs due their laks of knowledge in economy (not keynes or marx) always destroying  them from insde.

thanks to atlquick for a great job, this will allow me to study more about nature equilibrium in systems.

lets see what happen in the future with this crypto - systems.

That's what I saw as well.

Thanks, it's been interesting.

Projects using testnet and rewarding users with airdrops is not something I had on my list of guesses for this market. Tongue  Tis interesting.

Apparently these projects are doing airdrops for people that help them test their product.

67,159.31634687 Bitcoin Testnet coins traded between users since Sunday... Lol that's wild AF.

If this isn't the "golden" pink sheets of Bitcoin, IDK what is.

Damn, that's wild... we are talking about 0.41772030 BTC in the weekly volume, someone is going big with it. And I personally think this is a really risky move because as we know, sometimes the testnet blockchain resets, from what i understand it has happened already 3 times, so, those who are buying as crazy could lose them all.

And the question is, why would someone want to have tons of tBTC?

Lots of developers looking not to beg or faucet with rented VPNs who have a small budget and then bill their clients... that's at least one type.

Bitcoin Testnet allows them to test a product on a network vs the other types of Bitcoin Testnet.

After they are done testing, they have more incentive to return them... Kind of like a quarter for a grocery cart at Aldi's.

Then the next round of folks buy.

I imagine there are some pretty large individuals testing huge systems that have more money than time... I honestly have no clue, but I do try to ask when I get the opportunity.

A better question is:  Who are these people with these monster stashes and how long did it take them!!!!! Gawd, why?!

The whole market is wild.  Sellers don't care, buyers don't care, and it rocks n rolls.

If Bitcoin Testnet updates, we will too, but I'm really not worried about that consider what small fries it is + how much it helps vs dev using some fucking meme token that this world has devolved to. Tongue

Lots of people testing this: https://leak.motoswap.org/
