5081  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Announcing BPIP - The Bitcointalk Public Information Project! on: March 23, 2019, 02:51:38 AM
We had this option in the past here but it has been disabled for some reason, you know that.
By post or by views, there's already one here in the forum, why do we need it in BPIP?

To get there:
Go to the Homepage by clicking "Home", scroll down to the bottom of the page, then click "[More Stats]".
Or just click that link above.                                                                                                ↗
5082  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [PSA] Fake Wasabi wallet from wasabibitcoinwallet [dot] org on: March 23, 2019, 02:08:23 AM
Wasabi's GitHub page also share short guide on GPG verification along it's public PGP key.

https://github.com/zkSNACKs/WalletWasabi/blob/master/WalletWasabi.Documentation/Guides/InstallInstructions.md#gpg-verification
Great, just like Electrum,
but just like Electrum, that wont help most newbies since most of them prefer download-install-open method.
Glad they have taken down the site that quick.

so it seems virus total failed to scan the file if we input the link directly, but they can scan it if we upload the files directly. i don't know if this is a bug or not but they should've fixed it already.
It isn't a bug, if you input a URL, it will scan the server of the URL, not the specified download file.

If you download and upload the file to Virus total (like the image in the OP), it will scan the file using different antivirus engines.
If nothing was detected, the file doesn't have any malicious code even though it steals data, it might be programmed like any other software that can send and receive data to its server.
5083  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Can I get my coin from bitcoin core wallet without waiting to sync on: March 22, 2019, 02:20:03 AM
I tried responding last night but it wouldnt let me. I think ive got the key but when I go to my eletrum wallet -wallet-private key- sweep-and add the key. It tells me "no input found(note input needs to be confirmed)"
just to be clear this is what Ive done:

I put
                  walletpassphrase(...) 60
 answer      nul
                 dumprivkey " recieving wallet address"
 answer      L5EXXXXXXXXXXXXXCENSOREDXXXXXXXX

Im hoping this is my private key. I put this in my eletrum wallet and I get that message. what am I doing wrong
That's the private key, edit your post and remove most of the characters immediately!
All you need to display is the first or first three characters, it will be stolen even if the last 10 characters are crossed-out.

What seems to be the problem is the address that was derived from the key doesn't have any balance (inputs).
This could mean that the format of your Electrum wallet and BitcoinCore's are different.

When sweeping:
If Core's address starts with "1" type: p2pkh: before (prefix) the private key.
If "3" use: p2wpkh-p2sh: ; if "bc1": p2wpkh:

Also, you might wanna check on an online blockexplorer if the "recieving wallet address" that you've specified has a balance.
5084  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Double Spend Error on: March 22, 2019, 02:08:18 AM
I supposed to order something and this order's value 23 Euro. But site had an error after ı sent the money and it seems my order valu 46 Euro.

İt's a screenshot.I'm really so angry it's been 6 days
You still haven't answered the most important question that everyone asked: What is the name of the site?
The invoice (screenshot) looks like came from an unprofessionally designed site which might be a scam.

5085  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My friend told me a new concept Lightning Network, but I don't fully understand on: March 21, 2019, 02:35:36 AM
LN isn't new, it has been implemented for over a year now.

If you're not fond of videos, try to read these infographics by bitcoinlightning.com.
Non-technical, colorful and easy to understand.
5086  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: My 12 word seed phrase is not working on my ledger, it is getting `invalid` on: March 21, 2019, 02:19:05 AM
I was hesitant to post my written reply yesterday about the SEED not compatible/generated by Ledger since I don't own a ledger Hardware wallet.
But based on his reply, I guess I'm partly right.

Here's some parts of it:
Ledger generates 24-word SEED by default, any of the two will always be invalid if used alone or...
it wasn't generated by that device in the first place.

TypoEdit->TWhat bugged me now is his btcrecover log that says "3 unknown words" while Electrum's SEED still uses BIP39 SEED words.
Must be a typo, at least.
5087  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cryptopia exchange hacked on: March 21, 2019, 02:07:39 AM
The lost funds are replaced with the CLM token as a loss marker. The exact method of how this will work they haven't announced yet.
That's B****hit.
If clients get their hands on their lost balance as a single token (CLM) all at the same time,
its price will decrease drastically after the obvious "sell race™" that users will do to get their preferred "exit coin".

I still prefer the 100% free haircut over an ECR20 token.
5088  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Can I get my coin from bitcoin core wallet without waiting to sync on: March 21, 2019, 01:45:02 AM
I dont know why I cant reply. My electrum wallet is fine and up to date
It isn't related to Electrum's version or whatsoever, your address must be a bech32 SegWit address that starts with bc1.
Most services doesn't support native SegWit addresses yet, that's the issue.

But since you've already downloaded and sent the bitcoins to another wallet, please tell us what is this "first wallet you've seen from Google search"?
Without the name, we can't help you with the proper command(s) to export your private key.

In case it was Bitcoin Core, follow poordeveloper's instructions;
to open the console (debug window), click "help" (top-right corner), click "Debug Window", then select "Console".
5089  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: My Electrum wallet takes forever to synchronize. on: March 20, 2019, 12:55:47 PM
I downloaded the official electrum android wallet and select the import wallet from recovery seed from the given option but on the next window I can't be able to write the recovey seed but when I copy past it still there is no next button option available.

All I can do is create read only mode of my existing desktop wallet on android.
That means that the SEED that you've copied is invalid, it's either your seed wasn't created by Electrum (was it an imported BIP39 SEED?) or there's a typo.

If if is a BIP39 SEED, you need to import the Master Private key of your Desktop Electrum because Android version doesn't have an option to enable checksum for BIP39 SEEDs.
You can get the master private key from the desktop wallet by typing:
Code:
wallet.keystore.get_master_private_key('ENTER-YOUR-PASSPHRASE')
to Electrum's console tab (View->Show Console).
Take note that by doing this, your passphrase will be logged to electrum's log which can be accessed by a hacker if your system is vulnerable.

Alternatively, (must be offline) you can create a temporary no passphrase wallet using the same seed and open it using a text editor like notepad;
Then search (CTRL+F) for xprv or zprv in the search box, that's your master private key.
After copying, delete the temporary wallet.
5090  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: May be a dumb question: MultiSig wallet Electrum on: March 20, 2019, 02:54:46 AM
Hypothetically, every trace of Electrum being deleted (even offline copies) is too far fetched.
However...... you don't even need another tool to recover the funds in those multisig addresses.

Here's my answer:
Always keep an offline backup of the last Electrum executable/installer, together with your wallet file if you want and you're safe.
How? With offline copies, even without any working servers, you can still create and sign transactions and broadcast it to any online bitcoin broadcaster sites (there are tons of them) or to any other bitcoin wallets (almost all supports broadcasting raw tx).
If you ever forgotten to make a backup of Electrum, others might happen to have a copy at least.

That said, you don't have to worry about your coins getting locked in case Electrum cease to exist.
5091  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: My Electrum wallet takes forever to synchronize. on: March 20, 2019, 02:04:50 AM
First check the address where you've deposited the bitcoins in an online blockexplorer like live.blockcypher.com.
If it has a balance, you're safe.

Next, it's a new PC so it's a freshly-installed Electrum.
If the connection indicator (Lower-right circle icon) is green, you're connected to a server.
Keep your Electrum open for about 20min-1hr depending on your internet speed to fully download the block_headers (44mb+) file.
That's it.

Also, your electrum must be V3.3.0 or above since old version wont be able to connect to any "good" servers anymore.
5092  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin lost? on: March 20, 2019, 01:41:58 AM
i have the seed...but the transaction completed...Eletrum turned off their servers during the transaction.
-snip-
Your Electrum version was outdated.
This error is the combination of the developers and the legitimate servers' efforts to "tell" users with vulnerable versions of Electrum to update to the latest version.
And just recently, they are using DOS attack to old Electrum versions.

You must verify it as HCP said, you'll never know if it was the old redirecting eIectrum.org <-Fake Site from google search.

Follow these guides (select depending on your OS):
5094  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Software to access to additional data within the BTC blockchain on: March 19, 2019, 03:05:00 AM
Blockcypher can do this (but not automatically) without a HEX Converter but the "data" must be less than or equal to 40bytes (or 80?).
Here's the link: https://live.blockcypher.com/btc/embed-data/
The address must have a balance for the transaction fee and the minimum BTC transaction amount.

Take note: [1] OP_return is mainly for "phrases", not images, if you wan't to check the embedded data in the blocks,
you can visit this site: https://bitcoinstrings.com/ and select any block cluster.
[2] Its pretty hard to convert an image into HEX with 40byte file size without compromising the quality, but some claimed that they've done it.
5095  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin stolen instantly? on: March 19, 2019, 02:46:00 AM
There are several ways to get hacked like getting infected by malwares, viruses, visiting malicious websites and software vulnerability exploitation.
But most malware and viruses are detectable by AVs, so if you've been hacked, it must be through malicious links.
Some examples are those fake links to images posted by hackers here in the forum (so far, I've reported 2 posts) or through Winrar's bug by sharing a malicious .rar file.

But the hacker must also know your wallet's passphrase if you've been hacked, unless it came with a keylogger.
Okay, in case that's not what happened, how did you created the wallet?
  • Through Standard method (create a new SEED)
  • Import SEED
  • Import Private key(s)
  • or the wallet file came from an external source?

Because there's no other reason except the SEED being compromised if it wasn't a hack or the famous phishing scam.
5096  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Multiple satoshi 0.16.1 with strange behavior on: March 19, 2019, 12:57:13 AM
Any idea of what can it be? Is it legitimate?
Strange, my hard guess is:
Ping request will just display the delay of the connection between you and the peers...
so if they are from China and you're from US (with 1mbps upload bandwith), 1000+ms is pretty normal specially if the other party's connection is too slow. (could be wrong)
5097  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin stolen instantly? on: March 19, 2019, 12:48:32 AM
If others already got your SEED, they can definitely do that but I doubt it.
You must be hacked or downloaded a fake Electrum version.

From where did you downloaded Electrum (it must be electrum.org), double check your browser's history to be sure.

Also, did you received an error message in Electrum regarding a mandatory update and followed the link (not the official site or Github page)?
If that's the case, you've been a victim of a Phishing scam by malicious electrum servers.
5098  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cryptopia exchange hacked on: March 18, 2019, 06:33:15 AM
I just received an email from cryptopia regarding their stand to this "hacking" incident. [March 18]
It's pretty much the same as the link on the post above. ^

Here are some parts of the email:
Quote
Dear Cryptopia Customer
We are writing this letter to update you on the progress we are making after the event that occurred on the 14th of January 2019. You may have heard various comments about this event being an exit scam but rest assured we are 100% committed to reopening the exchange, bigger and better and to continue trading.
.......

I wonder where did they find those "exit scam" comments  Grin

DID YOU KNOW???

Cryptopia, the New Zealand-based cryptocurrency exchange that was the target of two hack attacks in January, is gearing up for relaunch by taking new steps. In what could be a novel development for a cryptocurrency exchange, Cryptopia announced on 11 March, the option for users to cancel orders.
Reported for Plagiarism.

5099  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How does shapeshift/changelly work? on: March 18, 2019, 05:52:29 AM
They definitely hold money in those Exchange and at the same time they must have multiple dedicated wallets for sending out the computed amount, receiver addresses and hodler of balance for/from day trading.
They base the current best exchange rate from those exchanges as the quote said then trade the amount using their own balance
but the sent coin to the user didn't came from the exchange, it's also from their own wallet.

If that's not the case, exchanged outputs will come from those exchange's addresses and would take hours to days since most exchange do "batch withdrawals".
5100  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to create your unique Bitcoin-Address – step by step on: March 18, 2019, 04:24:17 AM
feel free to post your created public key here  Smiley
Did you mean Bitcoin address? I can't see any reason to share the public key.

Request for an edit for #3 and additional option for #4:

[3] If you press Windows+R, it will just open the "run" dialogue box.
Just add "type cmd and press enter" to complete the instruction.

[4] You can totally disregard #3 and the directory selection by opening the command prompt directly from where Vanitygen is stored.
  • Browse to the folder where vanitygen/oclvanitygen is.
  • Press CTRL+SHIFT+RightClick on an empty space within the folder (not on the executable/files), click "Open command window here".
  • Then you can directly start either vanitygen or oclvanitygen commands without extra directory selection command(s).
  • Example (for verbose or "displayed output"): oclvanitygen.exe -v "1test"

Took literally 2 seconds for oclvanitygen.
