Local bit coin was not excepting my Electrum address so I downloaded the first wallet I seen on my google search. Without reading their home page, I got a receiving address and sent the coin. Its been almost 40 hours and its still not synced. I tried using the command "dumpprivkey"<address> but it is telling me to input the wallet passphrase first. Ive tried to put the passphrase both before and after my bitcoin core address. I get an error. The address I used was the receiving address I put on localbitcoin. Can someone please help me

Tell me what Electrum version that you installed? The recent Electrum version is Electrum-3.3.4 if you have Electrum below 3.3.4 version you will experience synchronizing issues as they disconnected all public server older than Electrum 3.3 version.

Let me ask if where did you download it? Because there are many fake Electrum wallet out there so beware.

The correct website is https://electrum.org/

And if you are trying to dump the private keys you can just go to addresses tab and find the address you use and right click> private key> enter your password. Copy private key backup and you can import it to any wallet you want.

Edit: I think you need to delete this post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1067056.msg50248001#msg50248001
Because the thread is almost old.

Weird that localbitcoin is not accepting electrum address as it the same as other bitcoin addresses from other bitcoin wallets?

Which commands are you using to unlock the wallet?

AFAIK, this should be what you would need to do in order to get the private key from <address> using passphrase <passphrase>:

It isn't related to Electrum's version or whatsoever, your address must be a bech32 SegWit address that starts with bc1.
Most services doesn't support native SegWit addresses yet, that's the issue.

But since you've already downloaded and sent the bitcoins to another wallet, please tell us what is this "first wallet you've seen from Google search"?
Without the name, we can't help you with the proper command(s) to export your private key.

In case it was Bitcoin Core, follow poordeveloper's instructions;
to open the console (debug window), click "help" (top-right corner), click "Debug Window", then select "Console".

That's the private key, edit your post and remove most of the characters immediately!
All you need to display is the first or first three characters, it will be stolen even if the last 10 characters are crossed-out.

What seems to be the problem is the address that was derived from the key doesn't have any balance (inputs).
This could mean that the format of your Electrum wallet and BitcoinCore's are different.

When sweeping:
If Core's address starts with "1" type: p2pkh: before (prefix) the private key.
If "3" use: p2wpkh-p2sh: ; if "bc1": p2wpkh:

Also, you might wanna check on an online blockexplorer if the "recieving wallet address" that you've specified has a balance.

To clarify to the OP: in Electrum, when sweeping the private key, you must use those prefixes depending on the type of address you got on Bitcoin Core.

If Core's address starts with "1" type:   p2pkh:PRIVATEKEYHERE   as the private key when importing.
If it starts with "3" type:   p2wpkh-p2sh:PRIVATEKEYHERE   as the private key when importing.
If it starts with "bc1" type:   p2wpkh:PRIVATEKEYHERE   as the private key when importing.

It's obviosly the same the last poster said, but it's extremely important you do this as fast as possible, that's why I tried to explain it with other words.

However PLEASE, as nc50lc said, edit your post NOW to avoid getting your coins stolen. Google provably already cached this page, so it's just a matter of time that address is compromised and the funds it has now and in the future are lost.

Never ever use the address associated with that private key again. Make a new wallet immediately and keep the seed/private key safe, never exposed it online ever again.

@OP Also don't email it to yourself or keep it in an online cloud storage, don't keep it saved on a shared PC or one you use for all kinds of online activities.
Don't carry it around in your phone either. Encrypt the file if you must have it on your PC or encrypt and save it to an external password protected USB.
