I wonder what kind of stuff members would be doing with btc at $500K (10 tril)?
Make plans? Too early? 30 mo is just 2.5 years.

one step at a time bro

a new ATH at 70k next year
maybe 100k gets topped next year.

oh hats off to buddy 28k!

buddy doing the lift 27k was passed . Lets hope it goes to 28k

hey buddy keep lifting!
5082  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: ASIC Miner's Efficiency , Where Does it Stop? on: June 20, 2023, 04:16:17 PM
well considering  that s7 to s9 was 4.7th at 1300 watts and s9 was 14.1th at 1300 watts about 3x the hash for the same power the drop off was huge
since the s-9 came out.

I do not see 10 watt gear anytime soon.

hoping to get a bigger share.
than 96b

96,415,795,387.686

actually 53t works fine.

It needs to be close to 53k or a shit ton of mines will fail.

Most mining gear is in large farms.
A 1 megawatt farm is not that large I am about 200kwatts of power I am a small commercial farm.
Plenty of farms are 5 megawatts and up.
So I see a strong move to near 50k or a disaster for large mines.

I estimate that a large farm now needs a 40k price for next fall to breakeven.

Fall of 2023, I assume.
The large difficulty move is perplexing, for sure, although price made a move similar to difficulty in % YTD (50-60%).
I saw the price of btc at about 35-40K at the halving, but now, with Blackrock submission, it could be higher as ETF, if approved by the EOY, would front run it.
Maybe 50K or even higher, however, if miners would also add into this, they would have troubles around actual halving because the 'flow' would be cut in half.
Is it possible that a newer silicon would be ready by then? S20 or something like this with 12-15 J/T.

Diff added 34 to 51.

in 6 months.

efficiency is reaching the bottom or the top

s1 2000 watts a th
s3 1000 watts a th
s5.  500 watts a th
s7.   250 watts a th
s9.      90 watts a th
s15      60 watts a th
s17.     33 watts a th
s19.      29 watts a th
s19 xp.   23 watts a th
s21.  may only do 17 watts

much like a gallon of gas there are limits to what it will do

ie no car burning gas get 1000 miles to the gallon

a 15 watt or 17 watt miner does not fix price when coins are 3.125 a block.

if you hodl fall of of 2024 next fall price will be over 50k or mines will fail bigly

this fall mines can survive at 25k.

Blackrock’s (BLK) iShares Bitcoin Trust application to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) this week might stand a better chance than previous attempts by other fund managers thanks to the promise of a “surveillance-sharing agreement” between exchanges.
On page 36 of the Nasdaq (where the proposed ETF will be listed) 19b-4 filing, it's stated that to mitigate against market manipulation, Nasdaq will be brought in to enter into a surveillance-sharing agreement with an operator of a spot trading platform for Bitcoin (BTC).

https://www.coindesk.com/business/2023/06/16/blackrock-may-have-found-way-to-get-sec-approval-for-spot-bitcoin-etf/

-------
“If the Blackrock ETF does get approved, the real winner here is going to be $GBTC,” Adam Cochran, a partner at venture capital firm Cinneamhain Ventures, wrote in part of Twitter commentary at the weekend.

“Because Blackrock will show the path to conversion, and GBTC’s 40%+ discount will resolve on top of industry growth.”
Cochran said that he thought BlackRock’s offering has “good odds” of getting U.S. regulatory approval.

“Very different structure than other efforts by a behemoth who doesn’t lose. ‘30 act redeemable trust w/ redemptions (unlike GBTC) + proposed rule change filing. They came to play,” he added.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/grayscale-bitcoin-trust-2023-high-blackrock-etf-filing-buyers
----
P.S. It is intriguing also what will be the outcome of Greyscale vs SEC case. There are some unconfirmed rumours that Fidelity is also preparing a spot ETF acquiring Greyscale trust. All this looks pretty promising for better times. Who knows, perhaps this is the last chance to buy Bitcoin at these low prices?!?

This news matches the constant difficulty increase for all of 2023.

The largest difference in this price drop slump after 2021 compared to 2017 is we never had a difficulty fall off like the oct 2018 to june 2019 time span.

A lot of big companies are pouring cash into mining. We are doing 2-4% diff jumps all of 2023.

Jan 2023 diff = 34t
June 2023 diff = 51t

a full 50% jump in diff a lot of cash turned into gear.

Me mine has jumped a bit over 100% in this time frame.
5088  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Free electricity, just the equipment left. on: June 19, 2023, 01:55:46 PM
And the site platforms that you can trust that are good for buying bitcoin mining are Canaan, Nicehash, Bitmain and Hut 8 Mining.

Nicehash has mining software, but it doesn't have mining gear, and neither does hut8 they don't sell Asics anymore.

I live in a federal school environment, and as a result, we have free-constant electrical supply,

What the hell is a federal school environment? And how would electricity be free just by that?
Some guy might open a workshop and draw 600kw of power every second, would the infrastructure even hold?
I see you have a post in the Bangladesh subforum, just yesterday I was reading of another member bitching about daily power cuts, how do you expect to start mining for free with this happening?
https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/bangladeshs-worst-electricity-crisis-decade-2023-06-07/

If it's the old school meter it's better, because there is no measurement on the electricity consumption, only bills monthly,

An s19 burns 72kwh a day, 2100 a month, by European standards that's how much a 5-8 classrooms will consume a month.
Do you think that adding 3-4 times the consumption will not be seen?

at best one L3+ pointed to nice hash will earn close to 1 dollar worth of btc at nicehash.

it will burn 20kwatts a day which is 600 kwatts a month.

the gear is quiet but I can tell you 600 kwatts will likely be caught.
5089  Economy / Economics / Re: I thought there was an egg shortage. on: June 19, 2023, 03:00:04 AM
I prefer jumbo or largest sized eggs.

Summer 2021 $1.59 to $1.89  USD per dozen

Jan 2023 $6.99 to $7.19 USD per dozen

June 2023 $2.16 to $2.36 per dozen

I know for a fact as I know a local large egg farm that feed cost was mooned to them.

3x the price for feed.

Feed prices dropped Around April 2023 and eggs prices are close to normal.

This is central New Jersey, USA

the egg farm is:

5090  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 4 Altcoins to look at in 2023 on: June 18, 2023, 08:07:32 PM
Seriously, Doge? still becomes one of the coin to look?
I willl not get into this.
Ethereum is the first that I will pick from these lists. And others are not yet. I prefer to get top altcoins that still have small price at this time, but have quite good ATH and probabilities to rise up again. I am now focusing also on Matic, ADA, and XRP on my lists rather than other altcoins listed in here. But I understand very much that everyone has different consideration, research, and decision. So, whatever your decision, go for it without any regret.

eth = pos = piece of shit

doge = pow
doge has an endless supply of rewards so miners will never stop mining it.
doge's rate of inflation is smaller every year = far better than fiat.
doge year 1
doge year 2 2x coins 100 percent inflation
.
.
.
doge year 5 5x coins
doge year 6 6x coins 20% inflation
.
.
.
.
doge year 10 10x coins
doge year 11 11x coins 10% inflation
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
doge year 20 20x coins
doge year 20 21x coins 5% inflation

failing to understand the clever design of doge reward system

and mocking doge as an inferior coin is not very wise choice.

In the long run eth will simply become a large closed garbage corporation with all control centralized to mr v.

BTW mr v owes me 2 eth and an apology which he will never do.

"new" scam...a call saying that "there was an attempt to log into your account (at one of CEX), please provide credentials so we can secure it further".
beware

wait.. that was a scam?

oh no you fell for it.
5093  Economy / Speculation / Re: [POLL] Should the Fed stop raising interest rates? on: June 17, 2023, 09:39:41 PM
I have asked about this a few times.

Longterm care insurance policies are paid by private people.

They will die with 0-2% rates.

So every 5-10 years the feds jack rates to bail them out.

there are trillions in bonds as long term care must do ladder buys of bonds to survive.

We are getting 2 more rate raises this year.

July 25 + Sept 19 are likely +0.25%

October 31 we pause or drop

December 12 we drop

BTC has a strong fall move above 35k maybe above 40k. and we stay there for months until the ½ ing in 2024.

Pretty you can make bank on this.

Or I am tripping and why would you believe me.

So the market is heading up again.

Are you willing to take the risk and take exit from the market by selling all Bitcoins in this price range?

No. Some of us are adding coins.

OT:
Good news. Mum is going to rehab next week. I was fighting hard for that, the usual waiting time is around 8 weeks  Cool
Another week of mommysitting to go. Rehab relapse quote is a ittle under 90%. We'll see how this will go out., it's a one time opportunity, next time she be touching the bottles, she's going to be fucked up. Giving her 300mg of Benfothiamine daily, which should resolve dementia and imbalance in a few days *fingers crossed*

Drink responsibly, fuck sleeping pills (Z's) and Benzos.

I just read few of your old posts to get an idea of what your mom is undergoing.
Its good to hear that your mom is recovering from side effects of excessive use of alcohol and anxiety reducing pills. Hope she was on time to quit these things.
How precious is health, we only came to know once it start deteriorating.
Take good care of you mom, as she took care of you when you were a kid.
May God bless her with good health.

Uh, oh... in fact she didn't. I was more or less in the way of her working career, practically spent three quarters of time at home with my grandparents, got kicked out at 17, because i didn't meet her expectations. She always had troubles raising me, i got beaten up a lot of times and my father was a workaholic and rarely at home, so he couldn't help me either.
On the other hand, i was practically born altruistic, i had to learn to hate people for reasons but i never really got used to it, it just felt bad at all times.
Still, i am not emotionally bound to my mother, as most people are, which keeps me away from experiencing all that drama while i'm still able to help her. Why? Because i feel sorry for her. He dedicated her life to her career, she never learned to love and accept herself. When my father died, i overtook a part of his role because she was lost, that's my other motivation. Dismissed my 2/3 of inheritance for her, i didn't need another house, but she took her part in building it together with my dad, so who would i be to take it from her?

And yeah... that would have fucked up my karma completely, too.

Sometimes i caught myself thinking that it would be better for her to die. I don't mean it in a hateful way at all, but as a good wish for her to end her miserable life, in which she got stuck since a dozen of years now.

EDIT: Forgot to thank you for your wishes. I'd also love to see her experiencing the joy of life again.

So between our mothers and my bro-in-law we are very similar.

My my the world is not that large a place.

I needed both of them as a composite to equal your story with you mom but when I combine the two of them it is amazingly close.
