Pogledao sam par epizoda novog dokumentarca David Attenborougha, Prehistoric Planet. Fali mi tu malo krvi i eksplozivnosti. Cool Zvuk je isto tako mogao biti bolji.

<Snip>
Nothing of what I read seems appealing to me so far. It looked more promising in the beginning.

But I did create a support ticket with DFINITY, the company behind the ICP project. I sent them a link to this thread and asked if someone from their team would be interested in joining the conversation, answering a few questions, and maybe making corrections if some of the information is not correct or up-to-date. I am curious if they will reply back.
5103  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [Blacklist] of unreliable, 'taint proclaiming' Bitcoin services / exchanges on: June 13, 2022, 08:21:44 AM
I think it is important to note that this is different than taint. I believe they are saying that if they conclude, based on the facts, that you are depositing the proceeds from gambling, they will close your account. I understand that they are not saying they will necessarily close your account based on a single metric on a single report.
It looks like taint to me. I don't think it's going to be difficult for them to prove (if they want to) that the deposited Bitcoin came from a gambling platform. The owner of the coins could have changed, but it's still the same "dirty" coins. Dirty in their own understanding of that term. If I can't use them on that exchange, it means they are tainted/tagged/dirty/unwanted/rejects... Call them whatever you want.

Just imagine being told the same thing when you use fiat. You go out to buy something and the shop clerk tells you can't use those bills because they have traces of this and that. Get out of my shop before I call the police.
5104  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammed by Fairspin.io on: June 13, 2022, 08:06:47 AM
aha, and the red flag is still above the ANN
so it is just the proof that solving it was my wish to help, but for the next time I  can easily skip it, as people on the forum think only about their problems.
That's because some community members no longer trust you and believe you might be capable of scamming. It's now up to you and your team to prove that issues like the one above won't happen again, and that you can be trusted with your player's money. Withdrawing support for the flag is a personal choice of every user.
5105  Economy / Gambling / Re: Which sportbooks allow winners on: June 12, 2022, 06:15:57 PM
I think it depends on what kind of sports and leagues you bet on. If they recognize similar betting patterns for low-level and amateur football leagues with thousands of $/€/BTC wagered per match, they will find that suspicious and most probably limit you no matter which sportsbook it is. Same thing if you bet on ITF tennis tournaments where it might seem like you have insider information, know the players, or they have reasons to believe the matches are fixed.

Normal gamblers shouldn't have problems on Sportsbet.io.
5106  Other / Meta / Re: How to change a text font within the forum on: June 12, 2022, 05:56:49 PM
Not planning to install it but I've read though the reviews and found out that the edit only works in the URL that's edited and not the whole domain.
Yeah, that's probably true. I wouldn't expect it to work in any other way. Each page is unique in its own way and uses different codes and styles. But I remember coming across some type of CSS code extension that allows you to copy/paste element style changes to have them registered for the entire domain. Can't remember what it's called exactly. Font changes should be an elementary thing to do I guess.

The developer also has a reply saying that it wont work if the CSS form is separate from the HTML form. (if I understand it correctly)
I am just playing around with the Inspect element features at times to do some basic changes and page manipulation for the fun of it. I certainly don't know much about it.
5107  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is BTC really safe from being hijacked? on: June 12, 2022, 11:12:22 AM
The good thing is, unlike Ferrari, if you spend enough money then you can build your own asic miners.

Meaning, you could literally build a warehouse type of manufacturing plant, and then build your own asics, it is not really that much of a difficult thing to build, quite simple if you spend money for it.
You are forgetting that the ASIC miners aren't made up of grass and leaves you can find all over the ground. You would need hundreds of thousands of chips in a world plagued with chip shortage. You are going to need the best-quality silicone, and you need to purchase that from somewhere. And again, you are going to have to get those orders from suppliers and manufacturers who are already working as hard as they can. The raw materials simply aren't there in that quantity. Andreas Antonopoulos has many great videos on this issue.
5108  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Act to defend privacy or resign ourselves to its loss? on: June 12, 2022, 10:39:29 AM
After each major event, they take away our rights and freedoms little by little. 9/11, the fight against terrorism, money laundering, COVID-19. Those rights will never be reclaimed again because they were taken away due to "national security" and "the needs of the many".

The created environment will be such (or is such) that if you are fighting for your privacy you are an enemy of the state. They like you more if you obey and listen. Very few will keep trying to preserve their privacy, but the majority will just go with the flow.
5109  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [Blacklist] of unreliable, 'taint proclaiming' Bitcoin services / exchanges on: June 12, 2022, 10:19:51 AM
I wrote What Do Centralized Exchanges Consider as Taint last month.

I was told by Gemini support personnel that if they find out that you are depositing coins from a casino/sportsbook or you are trying to conceal the origin of your coins, your account will be permanently closed. Binance.US said something similar, although they didn't specifically mention the closing of accounts. "Actions will be taken" is the wording they used.
5110  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pricing things in Bitcoin rather than in US dollar what this could mean for BTC? on: June 12, 2022, 10:09:18 AM
1.  But don't you think maybe sometime in the future that Bitcoin's price volatility could stop?
Unlikely it ever will. Bitcoin is publicly traded and its price depends on the supply and demand effect. Throughout its history, it has often reacted negatively to bad news and positively to good news. This is evident from the price movements after important news regarding regulations is released. Whenever there is talk about Bitcoin being banned, or important players requesting stricter regulations, people start panicking and begin dumping their coins. The price can't go up if more investors want to sell than to buy, especially selling at a loss. Apply the opposite logic in situations when more buying is registered for whatever reason.

Don't forget the market manipulations and whales colluding to get your coin at cheaper rates. We wanted decentralization and unregulated markets and that's the price of it.
5111  Other / Meta / Re: Why The Number ‘‘120’’ Is Important On The Forum on: June 12, 2022, 09:15:34 AM

Many of signature campaigns ask for the users who wish to apply the number of merits the received in the last 120 days and of course when one takes a look at one's profile (on the merit section) one can see the history of the merits we all received within this period of time. Now, would not be great if above the total history of merits there was a summation of all those merits received/sent?

I have found myself in the situation where I counted those merits manually before applying to a campaign  Roll Eyes
If you don't want to deal with extensions, simply bookmark your BPIP profile page > https://bpip.org/Profile?p=Hispo.

It shows you all the merit information you could need:
  • Total number of earned and sent merits, including the posts and users that got merited/merited you.
  • Number of earned merits in the last 30, 90, 120, or 150 days.
  • On the right side you can see who merits you the most and which users get the most sMerits from you.
5112  Other / Meta / Re: How to change a text font within the forum on: June 12, 2022, 09:02:51 AM
Reloading the page refreshes it to the server's version, the edit works in that session and in your browser only.
I don't know about Brave, but there is a way to permanently save changes done on Chrome with Inspect Element on your computer. It's a browser extension called Permanent Inspect Element.

I haven't tested it personally, but came across it in a video explaining different things you can do with Inspect Element. I remember that the person said you have to click the save button dozens of times because it doesn't always save the changes with just one or two clicks. Install and use at your own risk of course! It hasn't been updated since 2020 though.
5113  Other / Meta / Re: Creating tools to populate /ANNS/ with current projects on: June 12, 2022, 08:43:38 AM
There are no restrictions in place where someone couldn't create an announcement thread or update an existing one informing the altcoins community about the launch of a new project or important changes made to any existing network. There is no reason to introduce new tools. Most Bitcoiners don't care for Ethereum updates and those who do can find anything they need in different ways.
5114  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammed by Fairspin.io on: June 12, 2022, 08:28:45 AM
I can assure you that there were no messages
It's interesting how you didn't see the messages in your ANN thread for two days, but you have no problems seeing and replying to posts in this thread just minutes after they are submitted.

If I had not wanted to help I would not do it right now
The reason for the sudden change could be because of the negative trust ratings next to your name as well as the big warning box that now appears on top of your ANN page. You want to get rid of that as soon as possible.

Anyways, the problem has been solved, and this thread can be locked I think.
5115  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DISCUSSION: Bitcoin’s Integration with The ICP Blockchain on: June 12, 2022, 08:02:24 AM
@franky1
I appreciate you taking the time to explain all this.

If I understood you properly, Bitcoin isn't being moved around within these canisters. It gets locked up and then cansiters, subnets, and regular users deal only with ICP tokens. Why would this be interesting for the end user? What new possibilities open up with this integration? DeFi, staking, maybe NFTs? And you have to prey that the value of the ICP tokens doesn't crash so you can get your initial BTC deposit back and not just a 1/4 of it.

You explained a different hierarchy. I thought subnets were on top and that each subnet had multiple canisters. The Bitcoin deposited by the users end up in these canisters. But according to you, it's regular users > subnets > canisters.
5116  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Integration with Rootstock's Sovryn on: June 11, 2022, 02:04:16 PM
Sovryn is a lending and borrowing platform right? Plus there is a staking feature if I am not mistaken. It operates on the RSK sidechain. Electrum works with the base layer + the LN. I guess they could integrate with Sovryn as well, but why is it needed and what do you gain from this partnership/integration? Do you want to connect your Electrum wallet directly to Sovryn to be able to lend/borrow other assets and stake them?
5117  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: blockchain.com error on: June 11, 2022, 01:48:27 PM
You must mean the entire website, right? But then why would a block explorer need to block VPN IP ranges? It's not like they have an account system with special APIs for them.
I can't comment on blockchain, but I have noticed that my VPN doesn't work with blockstream.info at times. First time it happened, I thought it was a problem with the site itself, but when I noticed it a couple of more times, I tried with the VPN turned off and I could visit the site just fine. It's been a while since it last happened though.
5118  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammed by Fairspin.io on: June 11, 2022, 01:41:18 PM
All the massages appeared in the ANN today, probably they were on pre-moderation
We never ignore our players
I assure you that there is no such thing as pre-moderated messages on Bitcointalk. I saw the OP's posts two days ago and so did other users. You could have seen them as well if you wanted to.

- You deposited on the 13 and withdrew on the same day double your deposit
Why is that a problem or reason for suspicion? Theoretically, I can deposit 1 BTC, play one round of dice which takes a few seconds, double my money, and request a withdrawal a few minutes after the coins were deposited into my account. I did nothing that should raise any suspicion besides being satisfied with my winnings and wanting to withdraw them.
5119  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DISCUSSION: Bitcoin’s Integration with The ICP Blockchain on: June 11, 2022, 12:55:39 PM
in very short.. the central body can move funds without the individuals permission.. and do other risky things like change the contract rules at a whim..

.. summary.. not a good network to trust. in any way
It does seem to rely a lot on trust and the notion that the central body (as you call it) won't or can't abuse their position and simply steal all the coins from a container or the entire subnet that handles Bitcoin transactions. ICP is open-source, I would love to see the thoughts of someone who knows how to read code explain exactly who has access to what? Is there a central body or organization that knows all the private keys and who has the means to recover shares to reconstruct private keys?

I haven't checked if ICP has any kind of presence on the forum, but inviting someone from their development team could be interesting as well. I will see what I can find.

* We have to trust that there won't be too many rogue nodes
Some questions remain unanswered. For example, they talk about a functional network even if 1/3 of the nodes were to go offline/become malicious. But then the same person says that even if an entire subnet were to be destroyed, that wouldn't cause the loss of funds because master private keys can be reconstructed from shares spared out among nodes in other subnets.

OP, or anyone who's smart, from a technical standpoint, what would the net-positive of this "integration" be for Bitcoin?
I am sure their goal is not to make Bitcoin better, but to increase the use of their network by adding popular coins like Bitcoin and Ethereum to it.

Wouldn't it break immutability on their network?
No, I don't think so. A confirmed transaction remains a confirmed transaction. They can't revert anything that happened on Bitcoin's blockchain. I think that an example was given in one of the videos to highlight possible dangers of human-controlled containers. So they talked about lending and borrowing use-cases for Bitcoin. A malicious human-controller could perhaps change the smart contract logic so that withdrawals could only be done to a specific BTC address (one that belongs to them). Since they have both human and non-human controlled containers, and they will make the decision which of them will be allowed to work with Bitcoin based on some security standards, the human-controlled group should never have access in the first place.
5120  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: blockchain.com error on: June 11, 2022, 08:50:38 AM
I have recovered 0.7 btc from a wallet I almost knew no details using their support.
That's a positive outcome but also worrying at the same time. What did you know and what didn't you know about your wallet? I am just trying to figure out what information they managed to retrieve for you and how. And if it's data they supposedly shouldn't know or have access to.
