5101  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Translations of some of the best posts on the local language boards. on: May 27, 2018, 07:27:58 PM
Another good one in the Spanish board, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3514647.0
She's talking about cloud-mining with no consent and which kind of websites have this practice. Coinhive seems to be an enterprise dedicated to cloud mining in some websites. At the very moment you get into the site, they put immediately your computer into mining, making the computer suffer and stealing your computational power from you. There are some websites in which they ask for your permission, but, apparently, there are few.
in the post, she also explains how to discover the plugin by searching into the code. Maybe we should ask her to translate it, but, due her rank, I'm afraid she cannot post in here.

This one has a merit form dmrdmr, who by the way writes excellent posts and has done good analysis of the forum.

A newbie with a brain  Grin (Spanish Board): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3922124.0

Translation:
"Do not repeat the SUPER ADVISORS history in the ICO

In the long road we have undertaken in the world of blockchain and cryptocurrencies, we have found a recurring theme, which apparently is a vice that comes from something older than the original idea of these projects.

In many societies, the state pretended to make us believe that citizens were and are unable to protect their interests, and this incapacity could only be covered by superior beings, called in ancient times wise, touched by the grace of the gods, in the Currently, these are social protection institutions, which, for example, protect the worker from himself, keeping and controlling social benefits, since if they receive it, they will not be able to manage it.
In closer cases, there is traditional banking, where not long ago, a specific surname was required, or the membership of a defined club, which would allow the foundation of a bank, taken to extremes in the form of banking associations and other , where they come to demand the incorporation of people with "trajectory" within the work team, because otherwise, there could be a disaster, since more nobody knows about that topic.

All these aberrations of the financial system, were those that the cryptocurrencies in their fundamental objective, wanted to abolish, to remove from the control of few the control of the personal finances of each and every one of us.
So much so, that as a fable or reality its founder disappears from the map once the birth of this new technology is consolidated.

But the customs of the past, seem to have remained, today, for each new venture is necessary to have a group of "experts" in the field. A group of self-anointed advisors in super beings, who for the few who have not tried to innovate in this area, will see that the cost is not low, at least we are talking about 5% of the company that will be in the hands of these people, which do not work for contribution to the technology, if not, they have a price, that if you do not cover it, it happens that the market will not accept you.
the projects are evaluated by the associated work team, it does not seem bad, but how many Ponzi schemes have been made in front of these supposed advisors, or those advisors did not share a cubicle with which today they talk about a speculative bubble, they are experts who are in favor, not against?

The market requires new methods of evaluation, more individual responsibility in the evaluation of projects and ICOs, we can not expect everything to be chewed and protected by a superior being to be held responsible for, we must be able to evaluate and assume our risks.

This new era requires us not to change the old actors for new ones that do the same game, and create the same club to which very few will be invited, unless they pay the membership, we can not just change one for another, we must change the scheme and assume total control of our decisions based on our evaluation, and not the evaluation of a third party, which sometimes does not even evaluate, only charges for it."

(I used Google translator 'cause I don't have much time, sorry for that)

I read this one a while ago. I am sorry but this does not deserve merit in my view. Maybe some other member will consider it.
5103  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Translations of some of the best posts on the local language boards. on: May 27, 2018, 07:23:38 PM
I've read a lot of comments about the difficulties that non-English speakers have in gaining merits
...

The first think that comes to my mind is that this post would need to be in local languages  Grin

It is relatively easy to get merit on the Spanish forum but... I had in mind opening a merit review thread there and this may be a good time. So, if anyone feels that his post in the Spanish forum has not been properly considered just ask for a review. Just make sure that the post is decent and no older than a few weeks -  if it is real crap I will ignore you for a month.

Please, make sure that the post does have a decent chance of merit and also please make sure that you have not participated in merit trading with your alts or friends. Also, I am suspicious of newbies asking questions that have been solved many times. Sometimes those are the reasons why merit is not given.

There are a few people that are very active in the Spanish forum bringing news. I sometimes merit those, but I would be happy if more knowledge about the market, mining and original problem-solving were brought here. Some hints:

- A long post is not always "meritorio".
- An opinion is an opinion and if it does not bring knowledge or something new I won´t merit it.
- I will merit you even if I disagree as long as your post is well thought. A merit is not a "like" and I don´t have ownership of all truth.
- I don´t merit more in my threads than in others.
- Helping others effectively is highly recommended.

What I would like to drive is a section that is a source of good information and help for everyone and increase the number of people who regularly visit it.

Now... let´s go and talk crypto.

I really hope that BTC price goes back to 3000, it would be like a second chance to get one of the best trains that have passed through the crypto railway.
5106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Market Goes Down and Down on: May 27, 2018, 06:55:07 PM
There is a correction, no reason to deny, but this year there are wonderful news about many of the projects built on blockchain and that will drive real growth.
5107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XRP Goes Green on: May 27, 2018, 06:49:46 PM
I would not go within 100 meters of that "coin". Most of what the Ripple team are developing have nothing to do with the currency itself, which is terribly centralised anyway.
5108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NEX - NEO based token for decentralized exchange :o on: May 27, 2018, 06:46:58 PM
I think that there are several NEO based exchanges such as NEX and Switcheo, but I am really waiting for Spotcoin that will pair everything with fiats.

Privacy focused coins are very much valued by the community but they have and will have many problems with the regulators, so keep than in mind when defining your strategy.
5110  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Seriously, why would anyone want $20 Billion Dollars? on: May 26, 2018, 10:04:59 PM
Please help me understand the thoughts of people who actually want (for example) $20 Billion Dollars. Depending on where you live, wouldn't $5M be about enough?

.....

So be very careful with what you wish for cuz maybe, when you become a gazillionair, you'll find out that you're not such a good guy after all.
I already know that I am not a "good guy", money would just make me even more happy of not being so.
5111  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Seriously, why would anyone want $20 Billion Dollars? on: May 26, 2018, 10:03:09 PM
Gentlemen, I suggest you look into the story of Hetty Green if you're not already familiar with her.  She basically lived the life of a miser, living in an old apartment in New Jersey whilst being one of the richest people on Wall Street.

Everything depends on your standard of living, and it's that standard that determines whether $5 billion or $5 million would be enough to live comfortably.  Some people just cannot stop spending money, and they buy the best of everything until they have nothing left.  Remember Ken Lay of Enron fame?  He was earning tens of millions of dollars A YEAR, and it still wasn't enough to support his lifestyle.

So yeah, for me $5 million would be waaaay more than enough to live like a pimp.  $20 bln would be overkill.

That´s a famous case yes. Oh... some people just can´t avoid spending money. In my case, I just can avoid earning it  Grin Cool
5112  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Seriously, why would anyone want $20 Billion Dollars? on: May 26, 2018, 10:01:00 PM
Guys, we are all so poor that our dreams don´t extend beyond "a few millions". There are things out there that are really cool and cost much more. Not that I know of many, but if you want to f*king cry go here

See... confortable middle class now looks terribly boring, don´t you think?
Ooh please even the most expensive is not even up to a billion dollar.
We talking of 20 billion here.

I would love to have my own archipielago  Grin
5113  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Improvement of ICOs ratings check on: May 26, 2018, 09:54:02 PM
I didn't mean insurance of investment as it may seem.Of course nobody can guarantee success of the project.  I wanted to say  that if resource publish ICOs, advertize and have profit it would be good if this publisher/web site put some effort and spend some ernings to check what is published in order to minimize scam and fraud. Itcould be even prepayed access in order to cover spendings on ICO research. It could be premium ICOs data "storage" but with checked data and not only based on words and colorful ads.

You mentioned compensation - it is pretty much a definition of insurance.

If there is money to be made by providing such service then somebody will provide it. I wouldn't hold my breath though. There is a lot more money to be made by providing shilly "reviews" and it will continue as long as greed and stupidity continues to drive the whole ICO shitshow.

That type of service exists already of course. Many law firms , lots of them, are specialised in performing "Due Diligence". Scams were not born with cryptos, they happen even in large company merges and acquisitions, typically with false audits or hidden debts.

Does the OP think that whales invest without DD?

However, it is obvious that you (nor me for that matter) have enough resources to pay for that, but there is no justification for not doing at least the very basic research on a project.
5114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Why up to 80% bounty campaign extend the deadline? on: May 26, 2018, 08:16:06 PM
Not that many extend the deadline, you may have been unlucky. But it is your choice to continue or not, it is not fair I know, but you can always go to another.
5115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why are you investing in Qurrex? on: May 26, 2018, 08:14:13 PM
I agree, this is a cool project to be in. I think it is very likely to be one of the best ICOs of the season and they have a huge community waiting for news.
5116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I am so stressful with trading coins, I lost 13000$ on: May 26, 2018, 08:09:37 PM
You don´t loose if you don´t sell and this market has lots of up and downs. Just hodl in there and you will eventually recover and even make plenty of profit.
5117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Now that the EOS ICO is finished ETH will suffer? on: May 26, 2018, 08:08:33 PM
Now that EOS has finished a year long ICO, are they going to sell all the ethereum they have and thus make the price go down? Will this be an opportunity to buy cheap?

Guys, we are all so poor that our dreams don´t extend beyond "a few millions". There are things out there that are really cool and cost much more. Not that I know of many, but if you want to f*king cry go here

See... confortable middle class now looks terribly boring, don´t you think?

Some of those look very affordable, like only an order of magnitude more than a house in a decent neighborhood. What's the catch? No high-speed internet? Commute 100 miles by boat? Island-owners association fees?

Stupid question: what stops your island being invaded?
On a more realistic point if your island is just off a country, the country gets taken over (say it's a hostile country) can your island be forfeited - I suppose this is the same as regular land.

Therefore, once you buy your island, you might need to employ guards or people to patrol it - unless you make a network of tunnels and just hide below the surface forever but that's not a great idea (you might end up stranded).

$72M isn't that bad for an island.

I would assume that despite being private it's still part of some country like a regular private plot of land in some suburb and not a sovereign entity. So I shouldn't need to have my own army. But it probably implies another catch: taxes, particularly property taxes.

Yes of course, you own the island, but it is not your own country. If someone invades your Island in, lets say, Dubai, they are effectively breaking the law of Dubai.
