5121  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Calculate profits on: June 08, 2021, 05:22:29 AM
pooya has the best answer, but I guess you really have to specify certain things too especially where you are from. This determines how much you actually pay for your Bitcoin (where you can buy it, which is where the price is). If you pay in local currency you save the forex rate. If I buy from Binance for example I deposit in X currency which is converted at a bad forex usd rate. Then I buy BTC at Binance price which is not so bad.
5122  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io "Soccer Blackjack" @ 21.00 odds on: June 07, 2021, 04:33:07 PM
Always someone faster than me but happy to get in on Germany, Please destroy Latvia!

boltz about what you said, I guess you're right in a normal situation but I never read friendlies about anything other than exercise and warm ups, and a chance for coaches to experiment. Which is also not ideal because your opponents are doing the same. So it's more like a training match more than anything else for me:)
5123  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: POS vs POW - Coming for Bitcoin What is the Greatest Fear of the Rich? Poverty on: June 07, 2021, 03:09:16 PM
I don't think vitalik plays anything. He knows he's privileged and he knows he has influence but he as far as I can recall has never claimed to be either side of it. I mean, you can't really choose where you come from right?

I do agree POS seems only to make the rich richer but I guess PoS has all kinds of variations about delegating votes?

PoW isn't exactly something most of us can participate in either:(
5124  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who were the morons that bought 60k bitcoin? on: June 07, 2021, 01:41:55 PM
I remember being called a moron in 2017 when I didn't sell my bitcoin at $20k, or $15k, or $10k, or $5k. I'm pretty sure I bought more at all those prices, and was called a moron for that too. Doesn't time fly!

Feel free to call me a moron because I didn't sell at $60k, $50k, or $40k either.

Maybe see you in another 4 years. Wink

Man you have idiots surrounding you. But that's definitely why I don't tell anyone in real life I keep Bitcoin except my very closest friends, and even then, only they know I earn a little but I never tell them how much haha or they will tell me to get out and sell asap.

Let's all see OP in another 4  years asking about the morons buying at $100k who knows?Smiley
5125  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: June 07, 2021, 01:01:13 PM
I remember when people said the same about Real Madrid back in the day and then Zidane led them to a UCL title. Guess what people said? "It was just luck"

Zidane would then go ahead and win back to back UCL title, but people still continued saying that he was just lucky  Grin

My point is, Real Madrid can still achieve success even with the current squad. All it needs is proper game plan and tactics. With the same squad and so many rotations due to injuries, Real Madrid still managed to finish 2nd in La liga and UCL semi Finals. It could have been worse with any other coach.

They also said, well, he had Galacticos, so of course he won it. Well, tell that to City and PSG who still can't win CL titles, when Zidane not only broke their drought but gave them many more.

Not my team and a direct rival to Barca but I can never understand people who simply are just blind and can't see to give people the praise they deserve. Zidane is a treasure they'll be reminded one day.
5126  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Economic Costs of Gambling on: June 07, 2021, 11:50:38 AM
1. Gambling in fact has many negative externalities. If someone gets addicted, the likelihood is much higher to be depressed. Depression is factor, which leads to high costs for the society.

2. Gambling addiction leads to economic costs because of crime actions. Other market actors have to increase their security standards, which means higher costs.

3. Many gambling addicts go as a consequence to jail. Jail means EXTREMELY high costs to society.

What are your thoughts on this topic?

This is the cost of any of the things considered "vice" not just gambling but actually it extends to me to anything that has an addiction factor.

So that is gambling, that is alcohol, drugs, but even what seems normal and accepted. Gaming for example is a huge addiction scene in Asia. I've known people stealing, killing, ruining lives, dropping out, lying, all to play more, buy more game points, etc. Suicide even has been reported in the news.

So it's not gambling that's the sole bad guy but companies that don't help people with addiction.
5127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Scenario of the crypto market in near future. on: June 07, 2021, 11:16:25 AM
I will continue to trust crypto despite the bear market throughout the year. especially now that the crypto market is getting bigger and bigger in the digital world, with the current decline being an opportunity to buy back the best altcoins in order to get maximum profit. I believe the most appropriate moment when investing in crypto is when more people are selling than people are buying.

I think you really need to evaluate where you are now. People keep talking about bear market but we're still seeing Bitcoin way more than 75% up from the last ATH, so that's hardly a bear market in my eyes. When it's bear you'll know. You'll be worried sick to the stomach watching your portfolio go down, coins will die, projects will disappear. Then you'll ask yourself what you were thinking in June 2021 thinking it was a bear;)
5128  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Maximalism on: June 07, 2021, 09:04:53 AM
thats just scamming
any service promising automated profits by simply depositing funds into them is a scam

Correct. And so I can't stand when all these so called laser eyes people who tell the world Bitcoin is they way and only Bitcoin, then go and also get paid to promote companies like Blockfi. Into the Block is a nice show but he also promotes and brings in so many influencers and big names that are also promoting a lot of well as you say, scams.
5129  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Cryptos VS Apple on: June 07, 2021, 07:58:23 AM
People are now being practical, and the competitions are very tight as many companies are also introducing different approach, but like what you have said, Steve Jobs established the brand and until now the company still harvesting the success of what he did, but sooner or later it won't be enough and the market will go to other directions.

It's applies to anything, if you can't sustain it the bigger chance that you'll lose investors, moving to Bitcoin now, it's what also happening right now, sideways and the money are moving out for a while.

Yeah I think what Steve Jobs did was one of the first leaders to really shape the company culture and attitudes, and that's translated into continuity even after he's gone. But that's a corporate thing and very opposite to what Bitcoin does, where there is no culture except the ones the separate communities decide to adopt. And there's no right or wrong or continuity:)
5130  Economy / Gambling / Re: List Of Crypto Casinos with The Best Faucets on: June 07, 2021, 07:25:43 AM
I think it's important to also say the equivalent amount in Bitcoin, or to use the same unit as all others so it's easy to make a comparison.

And to add about Bitvest, where 10 tokens = 1 satoshi or equivalent at the maximum exchange rate (you get the max amount when you convert 1 million tokens, otherwise you don't get as much). Your faucet also goes up in level plus you can choose different styles (smaller amounts but more consistent, huge max amount but 90% of the times you get tiny amounts, for example).
5131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: How i define scam project? on: June 07, 2021, 05:55:16 AM
The most frequently used way to identify a scam project is to look at the developer team, track record, scale of their business, any documentation material related such Whitepaper, Roadmap, Website etc. but sometimes projects with good plans and preparations also still had possibilty to be completely faild or abandoned. and end up with completely fails. I prefer to choose some project that already running and is in a position that many people are interested in.

This would make most companies still operating in the crypto sector scams.

1. Anonymous teams more majority than others. Track record impossible to look at because you don't know who they are.
2. Scale? Everyone started from zero. Bitcoin scale was 2 people sending each other bitcoin.
3. Documentation? Defi projects now don't even do a whitepaper.

I agree, look into these things but having them all and being impressive about it costs a few thousand dollars on fiverr:)
5132  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: looking for a active trading companion on: June 07, 2021, 05:22:07 AM
Personally, I think the idea of a trading companion is great. I have talked before in the gambling section about a Buddy system and I think the same thing should work in Trading.

But less about sharing news and strategies and more like a real buddy system where you take care of each other. Notice when discipline is lacking and emotional play is coming, and tell the other guy: hey, respect your stop loss, man. For example:)
5133  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Maximalism on: June 06, 2021, 06:45:08 PM
by including sidechains..
.. all it does is push people out of bitcoin to then play with those silly tokens on the sidechains and altnets

true bitcoin maximalists like bitcoin. not other networks pretending to be
yes have sidechains for daily play/waste funds.
but dont expect bitcoin maximalists to lock-in their entire hoard

Also true maximalists don't support centralized platforms that "stake Bitcoin". Anthony Pompliano for example shills Blockfi like crazy and calls himself Bitcoin lover, but tells people it's okay to put their bitcoin into blockfi to earn more. You would never see a true maximalist shilling or even getting paid for any corporates.
5134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Full of get-rich-quick opportunities at Bitcointalk on: June 06, 2021, 04:52:29 PM
Bitcointalk is full of knowledge sharing about different cryptocurrencies. Taking the discussions as reference we need to analyse ourselves and make the investment. Sometime we'll be earning big, sometimes the expectation gives big loss. Here OP is lucky to invest and make good profit out of his investment. He shouldn't expect the same to happen all the time.

Yeah but speaking of expectations, the way the discussions happen in alt and compare that to the ones happening in BTC related threads, you see the vast difference in expectations. Alt people look only at markets. Bitcoin looks at bigger picture. Alt people think in profits in 1 year, Bitcoin people look at longer periods. All that says something:)
5135  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: June 06, 2021, 04:04:25 PM
...Lots of questions for the new coach.
You don't have to ask all these questions since you know that it's only time that will tell. You don't need to speculate until you see what changes he brings to the club starting from bolstering the squad in the off season. He has enough experience and won trophies in the past so at least he's qualified to handle a huge task in front of him.

Exactly. New coaches bring a lot of expectations but everyone forgets they inherit a team and a playing style that needs to be untaught. And EURO makes it more difficult because they then have short preseasons to get everyone on board on the new dogma of playing.

Action speaks louder than words and in football all that happens on the pitch.
5136  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin can't break out anymore. it's done. on: June 06, 2021, 02:40:26 PM
But I think that Elon is far from McAfee. We owe to Elon that he is not a 100% pure moron like Jon McAfee clearly is. Elon isn't involved in all the shenanigans that McAfee is and also Elon isn't shilling a small cap project for 100,000 bucks no matter what the project is. Sure we are all shocked he is hardcore DOGE as it seems but McAfee shilled everything for money.

We don't actually know that. McAfee was a really brilliant programmer too, in the past. He is old school too, I think he just became very caught up in the fast life with drink and drugs and girls. I could easily see Elon going down the same path. They just came from different backgrounds.

Not defending either of them just that if Elon had the same path he might also lose it but unlikely agree with so many people around him to advice him against.
5137  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sextortion - more than 4000 BTC cashed on: June 06, 2021, 02:08:41 PM
Can we also make the difference between Bitcoin actually being the bad guy here?

Sextortion cases themselves I bet if you did a study, Bitcoin (and the same with ransoms) only account for less than 1% of the funds being used. But does it make it better than fiat? Also not. Does it make gold better because maybe no one uses it in sextortion? No:)
5138  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin can't break out anymore. it's done. on: June 05, 2021, 08:03:00 PM
You are one clueless person. Do you still have Bitcoin with you? Sell it right now and see you when Bitcoin hits $100,000. And that's going to happen within the year.

Elon is the new John McAfee. They are the same persons who are talking about something without necessarily checking the facts. Elon's words right now are being taken with a grain of salt. He is not anymore the person treated with credibility when he speaks about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency.

I said this a while back, saw it coming. First he becomes popular, because newbies love him and he looks bold and makes daring statements. Then people start to get smart and see he's in it for his ego (and maybe some profit too) and doesn't care about his followers.

The hate is already starting and he's losing his credibility even with Tesla people now.
5139  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: June 05, 2021, 02:40:57 PM
I don't think the Barcelona club authorities want to sign Ronaldo at the moment, Barcelona have renewed their contract with Messi. Barcelona can no longer afford to pay the salaries of two legends like Messi and Ronaldo. Secondly, Ronaldo is still a legend to Real Madrid fans. He does not want to tarnish his honor. If Ronaldo joins Barcelona, Real Madrid fans will start hating him. So Ronaldo will not decide to go to Barcelona.

Yeah, like I said, it's all policy and and all club culture, no way they'll ever consider a move unless it makes financial sense. Also they have to think about the longterm effect if they make a decision like that. Not that owners really care anymore but at Barca supporters are also part owners so you can't mess with shit like that anymore.
5140  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Doge and coindbase on: June 05, 2021, 02:07:33 PM
The safer strategy is wait for dips and buy it.
Dip: $0.3 take profit around $0.35
Dip: $0.25 take profit around $0.3
Dip: $0.19 take profit around $0.24
Dip: $0.15 take profit below $0.2

I haven't looked at dollar prices very much so I can't tell, BUT I have seen btc/doge price and I can see just the same. I didn't watch it fully either but ever since it was 1000 satoshi++ per doge, it has gone to dip below 800 satoshi THREE times now.

That is 25% profit every dip and that's just what I noticed.
