5141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.8 Required Update on: March 14, 2015, 09:49:24 PM
Hi,

Are there plans for further block reward reductions?

1st page says it will remain at 10,000 per block: Block 600,000+: 10,000 Dogecoin Reward

Yet, when I looked at this site:

http://cryptocoinstats.com/supplytracker.php?s=tt

It clearly shows another block reward reduction:

Dogecoin   142,857.14285700 (204,480/day)   71,428.57142860 (102,240/day) 1 month, 23 days, 4 hours, 50 minutes   (net coins in circulation 98,615,504,519)

So, is the 1st page of this ANN incorrect?

1st post is correct, there will be no more halvings. 10,000 is the final block reward and will not change (unless community agree on any hard-fork changes).

5142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 1st European BTC embassy closes down on: March 14, 2015, 09:22:49 PM
Basically they write that the were intimidated and one of the workers was beaten up, there were loads of bad words, emails and calls with threats. Somebody was not happy that something like Bitcoin Embassy was working. The creators of that embassy got scared and decided to back off and close the place.

If this story will be confirmed, I think that bitcoin is working very well. Who has threatened them is scared by bitcoin and want all the bitcoin related "services" shut down, now I hope that the police station will intervene and investigate.

That's all bull shit. I haven't followed the story much, but they seem to have had some serious internal conflicts (between founders?) for a long time. There was some heavy dispute about the ownership, lots of accusations etc on Polish bitcoin forum.

Some say they decided to close down in to avoid paying their debts:

Quote
Ebassy stays clear 0 without any debts.
Instead of one – of the person who transparently took part of closing Embassy.

Anyway, it's probably for the best.
5143  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there a "test" forum? on: March 14, 2015, 02:33:32 PM

I don't think creating spammy half assed unfinished threads is a good idea. There is a preview button next to post so you can see what your thread will look like. It also saves them into drafts for you.

He can always delete them (if there are no replies), 'preview' is a good feature, but you can't test polls this way and that's what he mentioned in the OP

but still, using preview is the best idea.

For many things - yes, but how are you going to test polls, locking/unlocking, editing, deleting and moderating threads with 'preview'?
5144  Economy / Gambling / Re: SafeDice.com ★ Bitcoin Dice ★ Low 0.5% Edge ★ Referral ★ Fast Cashout ★ Fair on: March 14, 2015, 02:27:29 PM

I do understand where you coming from, but every site needs big winners. People wouldn't trust the site if there were no winners. Plus, most of such winners will likely come back for more... you know what that means.

But I don't expect anyone to gamble big today, it's Fri the 13th after all, and many gamblers are pretty superstitious.

IF a site is on minus profit, i think it would serve as a marketing purposes for the other to come and play in the sites since the sites is legit, i remembered moneypot went up to minus 26 btc , this serves as marketing, sites got more traffic and have recovered since that time

Not really works for crowdfunded sites (with investment option). If the operator takes commission from the amount wagered, he doesn't really have any incentive in rigging the game one way or another.

If the site is on loss, players could take it as indicator that the site is legit, but investors could get suspicious and get the opposite impression. That's what happened to dicebitco.in, one player (likely operator himself) had almost impossible streak of high wins and wiped out most of the investments. That didn't attract masses of new players, but was final blow that killed that site (they had skipping-nonces issue shortly before that).

But most of all, if the site is legit, they don't have any influence on whether the site is currently on profit or loss, so they cannot use it for 'marketing purposes'.
5145  Economy / Gambling / Re: PocketRocketsCasino.eu - 196BTC max payout! NEW 30% AFFILIATE + ROULETTE + DICE on: March 14, 2015, 02:00:21 PM

The only thing we'd need to work out is how the prizes are given. With a lottery there might be no winner so a raffle sounds better.
The same raffle system could be used to pull tickets for multiple prizes too.

I don't have much experience in lotteries/raffles, but I imagine it could go like this:

- you'd need a record/list of all the current players and their amounts wagered at the start of the week (to exclude this from promo)
- at the end of the week you'd need a similar record (including all the new players), then deduct the above
- now you have a list of all the players and amounts they wagered during the week
- for each player: divide amount wagered by 0.1 = number of tickets. Quick example:
Pawel7777: wagered at the start of the week: 2.112, wagered at the end of the week 3.7798.
   3.7798 - 2.112 = 1.6678 / 0.1 = 16.678 - rounded down to 16 tickets

- now you have a complete list of eligible players + number of tickets each of them has earned. The total tickets number won't be known until the week ends.

- next step is to give each ticket its number and assign those to players. Example, let's assume there are only 3 participants:
  player 1 (earned 21 tickets)
  pawel7777 (earned 16)
  player3 (earned 8 )
There's no need to randomise it imo, so lets keep it simple:
  player1 gets tickets numbered 1-21
  pawel7777 - 22 - 37
  player3 - 38 - 45

At this stage, it would be a good idea to make it public for transparency (google doc or post in this thread) so everyone knows their tickets' numbers.

Next of course is the draw. You could use an external site for that (preferably one allowing excluding player who has already won) or even roll the dice on your site.

0.1 wagered for a ticket sounds fair, allows anyone to join in.
I wonder if players should be allowed to buy tickets also for better chance?
We could even give some away in chat via rain bot throughout the week.

What do you think?

+1 for ticket giveaway. Don't see any reason why not. I want 1 free ticket for the idea Smiley

As for allowing players to buy tickets - if you do that, you'd probably need to allow players to win multiple times (I don't imagine anyone keen to buy if they can win only 1 prize).

If the whole purpose is to promote the site (reward existing players and attract new ones), you should do 1 player - 1 win limit.
If there are total of say 21 prizes (1 big and 20 small) then you have 21 happy winners, each of them with positive impression of PRC and each of them more likely to come back and play.
But then again, there's nothing to prevent anyone from creating multiple accounts and abuse the system, so maybe there's no point in such limit...

Also, the 0.1 wagered = 1 ticket was just an example. Maybe lowering it to 0.01 = 1 ticket could give a better results by attracting more people?
You can easily get 0.1 even with very small deposit, but some less experienced players are not aware of that and it could seem too high for them.

Also, make sure every game is included, not only dice, but if you want to limit the promo to dice only, make it clear from the start.

Hello,

I am a bit new here and wonder if there is a test forum where I can create new topics, polls and in general can try out things before I participate in 'normal' forum discussions.

Just go to off-topic board:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=9.0

and play around with creating threads, polls etc.

You can put a short disclaimer:

"I'm just testing forum options, please do not reply" and delete it once you're done. That's just so the mods won't ban you for spamming (but there's high level of tolerance in off-top)

In 3 weeks Pocket Rockets Casino turns 2 years old!

Feels like a lifetime, especially in Bitcoin gambling  Smiley

Hoping to have a few more new games on by that time but most importantly I want to do some special promo.

Open to ideas from every one so feel free to post suggestions.

I'll post more details as we get closer to the big day.

Thanks for playing at https://pocketrocketscasino.eu

The last promo was pretty good, with physical items as rewards (+ equivalent in BTC option). But after few days many realised they don't have much chance to win anything, so the competition was limited to few players.

What about promo-lottery?:

- multiple rewards (preferably physical items). 1 main reward (higher value, i.e. tablet etc) and many (the more the better) lower value items.
- set period of promotion (say 1 week)
- every 0.1 wagered (any game) during the period = 1 lottery ticket (0.1 seems pretty low, but otherwise it could discourage small players)
- 1 player can win only once.

This way everyone will have a chance of winning and will have incentive to be active throughout the whole period, but still, the ones who wager more will have higher chance.

Just an idea...

actually im quite happy to see there is no major win in the sites today, I hate to see that big roller win up and take up the sites balance thus lowering my investment profit, and congratulations to you 1gal, how many rolls do you need to win that btw,?

This is big news! But why do they pick such random locations? Testing purposes? Lol! Cheesy

What's random about Poland? They've got ~15 million customers there.

Which country wouldn't be random and why?
5151  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What can you -not- buy with bitcoin? Let's get that list down to zero by 2016 on: March 12, 2015, 05:30:26 PM
You know what you can't buy with Bitcoin yet?  Yachts.

I mean you can probably go through https://www.bitpremier.com/, but I mean you can't go to your local yacht dealership and point to a Yacht and say you want that model in navy blue with gold trim.  Can't pick and choose, just whatever's posted on the site.

You don't know that. For such high value items, dealers could be pretty flexible and open-minded. If they know (roughly) what the Bitcoin is and that it can be quickly exchanged to fiat, if they know you're a serious customer and if the agreed price is right (protecting them from rate fluctuations etc) there's a big chance they would agree to take BTC as a payment.

please could you give us an answer?
Read the post, silly. It's mentioned. Posting in local boards should be paid for.[1]

[1] Am not sure. I thought I saw something about this a few days back, just haven't had time to re-read the post just to answer your question.

And I still don't know what they do in that company
does someone exactly know?

That's the point, it hasn't been publicly revealed yet. I guess the only people who know more details are investors and 21 Inc themselves.

But I'd expect them to shed some more light rather sooner than later.

Also, you can sign up for email notification on their website.

Vote here please :

Create a last payment list in bitsig.website\beta ?

- Good idea , i can see what I received last days

- Not a good idea , keep privacy ; also users can saw their last payment from the pms and ,,,

Kind of Respect ,
Bitcoin Boy

I vote for the first opinion, I think it will be an useful feature. If it is not possible I suggest to add at least the day when each of us will be paid.

Thanks for the attention.

Missed that voting request.

I also think it's a good idea. Privacy has nothing to do with that since post count and rates are public anyway, also you could just enter anyone's UID and check their earnings.

I wonder what these guys are going to do... I'll definitely follow them in near future. I hope it's something related to Bitcoin ATM's, or a serious exchange Smiley

Nah, it must be something bigger than ATMs or yet another exchange. We already have enough of those and I don't think they would raise a record amount if it wasn't really unique/revolutionary.

Time will tell. You can sign up for the email notification on their website:

Hey guys! First week of the bot has been completed and the payments are being made as users pass the 1 week mark.

New rates (due to the high number of posters and no limits) are:
Staff: 0.0014
Hero and Above: 0.0013
Senior: 0.0011
Full Member: 0.0008

Still no minimums or maximums! Please avoid making useless posts, I will start being tough on spammers as soon as my ban is gone.

Local posts do not count anymore.

I will be restructuring the campaign soon (perhaps switch to a more efficient monthly payout or once a week payout for everyone at the same time and increase rates again).

What do you guys think?

I’ll be unbanned in 5 days or so.

Regards,
Marco

The only objection I have is that payment reduction should've been announced during the first week (effective from next week) not after the 2nd week has started (for most). Otherwise is not in line with the camp. manager - participants agreement, you shouldn't be changing the rules during the period in question.

Fair enough. Strict but clear rules are better than the vague ones.

I personally prefer weekly payments. Same-time payment for everyone seems fine (think Fri or Sat are best)

Sorry, didn't mean to duplicate, I did forum search before posting but it's pretty useless...

Sometimes it doesn't work for me too. But what are your thoughts about the said start-up, since you've posted a thread regarding that matter.

I posted this for informational purpose (as I didn't know that there already is a thread about this).

You want my opinion on a start-up which operations are not revealed and remain secret? They have a nice name.

If you have anything to contribute - don't be shy.
5158  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Domain Ideas on: March 11, 2015, 08:25:00 PM
1) xbt.money - no, it's crypto

what do you mean? I think XBT is the BTC alternative, this is how Kraken & CNN Money shows it, i think... I might be wrong though.

I agree about bit.social.  It sounds like... i don't know, i just like it.

Think he meant that Bitcoin is 'cryptocurrency' not 'money', but he's wrong as 'money' is not limited to 'fiat money'.

If you don't know what to do with domains, you can list them for sale on Marketplace board.

bit.social sounds really good, but cannot think of any type business it could be used for, other than maybe some social networking (not necessarily bitcoin related), but we already have plenty of those. I wouldn't be selling this one cheap though.

Some big news from yesterday. A record funding of $116 m raised by secretive Bitcoin startup "21 Inc."

The nature of 21's operations is yet to be revealed.

List of investors include chipmaker Qualcomm, PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel and renowned venture capitalist Andreessen Horowitz.

http://www.wsj.com/articles/big-names-put-cash-in-bitcoin-startup-21-inc-1426029318

Quote
Nor has it publicly disclosed precisely how it will use those funds, though Chief Executive and co-founder Matthew Pauker flagged “several interesting developments over the next weeks and months” that will deal with software and hardware products designed “to drive mainstream adoption of bitcoin.”

Can't wait to hear more details.

The official (I assume) website for 21 inc doesn't say much for now:
