1  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: EU is set to delagalise decentralised mixers on: Today at 06:46:49 PM
(...) Using centralized mixing services never made any sense to me because of that.
Could be, but I don't recall ever hearing about anyone being prosecuted based on evidence from government controlled mixing services.

Decentralized services will be available anyway. Not every dev lives in a country they can reach. Can they get to a dev that lives in Russia for example? I don’t think so but this time your data will be in the hands of Putin.

Sure, but now any potential developers will have to take special measures to remain anonymous when working on any decentralised exchange, mixer of any sort or coin/token with anonymity feature. Even if they're not based in EU, the thought that you might get arrested anytime that you set foot in any of the EU countries is not going to be pleasant. And most people appreciate the option of traveling freely and would not be happy to give that away.
And from users' perspective, there's a risk of coins suspected to be mixed to be red-flagged by crypto-businesses, depending of how deep of a surveillance they'll be expected to do.
2  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ POLL ] The Unification Fight: FURY vs USYK 18th MAY 2024 re-scheduled on: Today at 06:32:55 PM
Regardless of the number of judges they have at ringside when the fight eventually takes place, what are the chances of there being a huge row if the fight were to go the distance? We all already know in that scenario the blame of the outcome will be put on the judges because the result will inevitably be contested and will be a controversial one.

For those reasons I really hope the fight ends before getting to the judges scoring.

Don't they have the rematch clause in the contract? I'm not 100% sure, but think I've read it somewhere.
If so, the controversial decision would be the best thing that could happen from the promoters perspective, as the rematch would hype-up itself.

It's fair to say that if it goes to the judges, then Usyk would come on the top as he's technically much better. Fury will have to search for a KO or score a knock down or two.

Not sure if this has already been posted in this thread, but here's a face to face interview between both of them (from few months back) where Fury looks more mentally dominating (to no surprise):

3  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: Today at 06:10:10 PM
Remember when during the walk to octagon Tsarukyan, on ufc 300 tried to punch (or managed to punch) a fan? Now athletic comission is on him for doing that. This is considered as an assault and now his reward for ufc 300 is blocked. Not sure if blocked is the right word (translating it from Russian media), but he gets no more until they sort this case and find way to punish him.

He explained his reasons punching/attempting to punch the guy here:
https://youtu.be/Kb3aNNeiaY4?si=gkvQRpkQviQTaYTt&t=168

I kind of understand him, we're all humans, if you're flipping a middle finger to the other guy and disrespect him, you should expect some violence. On the other hand, when he publicly announced that he will keep responding like that to fans' provocations, he's guaranteed to have more of them in his next fights.

According to the DailyStar, he only got an equivalent of Ł28,000 withheld by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, which is 20% of his Ł126,000 earnings from the fight. Source:
https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/ufc/arman-tsarukyan-punches-fan-ufc-32713844

Now we have something else to talk about. Ł126k?? Seriously?? For a fight in the most hyped-up UFC event in recent years? I understand he might be getting some other share of gate/PPV on the top, but come on, that's really low if true.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MemoryDealers aka Roger Ver Arrested! on: Today at 05:49:26 PM
It's also amazing that Ver hasn't been a US citizen for a decade and they come up with that right now? I feel like this isn't a coincidence and either some model citizen reminded the IRS about him, or maybe it has something to do with the recent attack on bitcoin wallets.

This is insane. You'd think that after renouncing the citizenship you could just be left alone but nope.
I'm also puzzled if there are any expiry dates on such charges, if the "exit tax" was due at all, the liability arose over 10 years ago, so I imagine any country would just let it go (unless he was ordered to pay by the court etc).

This was his last post in bitcointalk forum:

(...)

Not drawing any conclusions, but it's a bit strange that he decided to return after 5 years long inactivity just to casually reply in a thread that has been dead for 10 years and got necroposted by a newbie with a total post count of 1.
5  Bitcoin / Legal / EU is set to delagalise decentralised mixers on: Today at 05:13:13 PM
Topic says it all, in a not so unexpected move, the European Union pass the vote to ban mixing services and force crypto-business to implement more surveillance on their customers as part of the Anti-Money Laundering Regulation (AMLR).

Link1:
https://www.consilium.europa.eu/en/press/press-releases/2024/01/18/anti-money-laundering-council-and-parliament-strike-deal-on-stricter-rules/
Link2:

In short:
- crypto-firms will be compelled to collect more data on users;
- anonymity services tools will be banned.

Quote
The legislation also prohibits the use of tools that enable anonymity, including privacy tokens. Additionally, offering crypto-mixing services, which obscure transaction history, will no longer be permitted. Obliged entities are required to verify the identity of users, monitor transactions, and gather more information about both senders and recipients.

For crypto transfers below €1,000, service providers must conduct basic KYC to authenticate their users. However, for transactions exceeding €1,000, customer due diligence measures are necessary, involving longer-term monitoring of user behavior and identity in addition to the standard KYC.

Apparently there was also an initiative to force offline wallet providers (aka non-custodial wallets) to do KYC checks on their users, but that was dropped. I suspect it could've been a tactic when they propose something ridiculous, so when it gets rejected people see it as a win and are no longer angry about all the other restrictions that have been passed.

As far as I understand all this, offering mixing services will be illegal, but using such services will not be outlawed.
6  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Beterbiev vs. Bivol - Undisputed Light Heavyweight Championship on: Today at 04:37:39 PM
Looking at the results of the poll, the majority thinks Beterbiev will continue his undefeated, 100% KO streak, but my money would be on Bivol, likely winning by decision. He's simply a better rounded fighter with very high tactical discipline and high "fighting IQ".

It's good to have this fight finally happen, especially when both are still in their prime. Say what you want about the Saudis, but I'm glad they started to make great fights happen.

Here's a link to the press conference:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzgQcJIAzlI
and 6 mins highlights of it:

I can't understand why they wouldn't just let them speak in their own native language and just get an interpreter, the results would be much better imo.
7  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ POLL ] The Unification Fight: FURY vs USYK 18th MAY 2024 re-scheduled on: Today at 04:16:41 PM
(...)
He said he took it serious both before and after the fight, but we all know we can't believe what he says given he lies so much, but there's also the possibility that he's just not as good as we thought he was. I guess this Usyk fight really is going to be the litmus test because there's no sleepwalking into this fight out of shape as Usyk will dismantle him and if Tyson loses then he's lost to a 'jumped up middleweight' in his own words.

Does he lie a lot though? I always considered Fury to be one of the most honest in the boxing world and speaking his mind. The fact that he wasn't making any excuses after the Ngannou fight somewhat proves that.

There's a little over two weeks for the fight now as the promo hasn't even started yet nor have either parties been posting about it on socials.

This is bizarre, I'm getting much more feeds about Bivol Vs Beterbiev fight, which is also great, but it's not happening until 1 June, whereas Fury Vs Usyk is only 2 weeks away.
It really looks like they exhausted all the marketing budget before the original fight date, although I don't recall seeing any massive promo back them either.

Anyhow, originally I thought it'll be an easy fight for Fury, simply because of the reach/height advantage, but now I'm having second thoughts about it, given Fury's poor performance in Ngannou fight, as well as that he got knocked-down few times in the Wilder trilogy.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Usyk has ever got knocked-down or really struggled in a fight in his professional career (he did have some troubles against Beterbiev during their Olympic fight though, but still managed to win).
Also, I was sure Usyk is only around 180cm tall (~6.0ft) but apparently he's 190-191cm (~6.3ft) according to the internet, but think a lot of the height metrics are wrong or based on self reported data etc, so not very believable.
8  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 Tyson Fury Vs Oleksandr Usyk (18 May) 🥊 discussion and prediction topic on: Today at 03:59:25 PM
I'm sorry but we already have a thread about this unification fight by @JollyGood [ POLL ] The Unification Fight: FURY vs USYK 18th MAY 2024 re-scheduled. It's just buried several pages as there are a lot of gambling topics.

And maybe one reason is that there are no promotions whatsoever about this important fight. This is a unification in HW division and not sure when was the last time we had it.

Thanks for the link. I searched like first 5-6 pages and got nothing, so assumed there isn't one, which seemed a bit odd.
And yeah, given how big the fight is and how many belts are on the line there doesn't seem to be as much hype and promotion as there should be. I'm getting way more news/feeds about the Bivol Vs Beterbiev fight, which is like a month from now. I guess they've used up all the marketing money before the originally set date.

Anyhow, locking this topic now as there's no need to have 2 of them.
9  Economy / Gambling discussion / 🥊 Tyson Fury Vs Oleksandr Usyk (18 May) 🥊 discussion and prediction topic on: May 01, 2024, 10:32:39 PM

I think such an important, unification fight deserves its own topic.

The legendary fight for the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion is only a little over 2 weeks away. Both fighters are undefeated in their professional boxing careers and both put their belts on the line, which are as follows:
WBA (Super), WBC, IBF, WBO, IBO, The Ring

So far, Fury is a favourite but only a slight one with odds as follows:

Fury: x1,84
Draw: x16.0
Usyk: x2.00

Feel free to share your thoughts and predictions.

I was ready to put my money on Fury, but having some second thoughts after his rather poor performance against Ngannou.

11  Local / Polski / Re: jak zbudować początkowy kapitał bez KYC? on: May 01, 2024, 10:00:06 PM

12  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: May 01, 2024, 09:45:33 PM
Borussia was the biggest underdog out of the 4 remaining teams, but they say there are no weak teams at this stage of the tournament and BvB proved this statement to be right.
The outright odds for Borussia to win UCL were x10.0 before today's game and I wonder if the bookies will still give them the least chance when the odds get updated.
The 1-0 win might not sound like a lot, but it'll put PSG under a lot of pressure. Moreover (as per the league statistics) BvB tends to perform slightly better at away games.

Bayern fans must feel disappointed. It was a pretty even game but it looked like Bayern could drive the win to the end until that completely unnecessary foul in the penalty area by Kim. The rematch in Mardid is not going to be easy.
13  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football/Soccer Winning Strategy on: April 30, 2024, 11:08:48 PM
So here are his words: Find a sport like Hockey where teams normally just score a few and usually the first team that scores wins the game. And then find a casino that lists live matches. And then Parlay on 2-3 games. Don't go more than that or it gets riskier he emphasizes.

As they say, if something seems too good to be true, it probably is.
If a simple strategy like that worked long-term, all sports-betting sites would've gone bankrupt long time ago. The reality is, the only good strategy is when you can get the pay-out rate exceeding the actual chances, which rarely happen and requires bookies to misjudge the odds.
When you bet on live events when one side already took a lead, you'd usually get super low odds to the point it's not worth the effort. I'd argue that the opposite strategy has a better chance of success: bet on live events on the losing team. You'd probably lose most of the time, but the proceeds from the fewer wins could be high enough to make it work.

(...)
So what I did is apply this same strategy on Soccer as well. Remember to do this on live matches.
(...)

Has anyone seen any statistics on how often the teams that take the lead first end up winning? Would be interesting to see.
14  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Premier League 2023/2024 Discussion Thread ⚽ on: April 30, 2024, 10:50:33 PM

Man City PPGD +0.17, 4 games left:
- Wolves PPGD +0.38 (currently 11th), Away
- Fulham PPGD +0.79 (currently 13th), Away
- Tottenham PPGD +0.62 (currently 5th), Away
- West Ham PPGD +0.09 (currently 8th), Home[/b]

Damn. Except Tottenham does something about City, I don't think we'd get any different results from the teams on this list. Maybe West ham but still, they've been sub-par all season amd got hammered hard by Arsenal a few weeks back at the London stadium so I wouldn't count them but if they manage to cause an upset, I'll be pleasantly surprised.  Smiley

Call me crazy but I'd give Arsenal a slightly higher chances of reaching for the title. Sure, it's all in Man City's hands, if they can withstand the pressure and win all the remaining games, the title is theirs and there's nothing Arsenal/Liverpool can do about it. But I don't think people here realise how hard it will be for them to win all the remaining 4 games. They can't even afford to have a one draw as they'd lose to Arsenal by the goal difference.
The Tottenham match is the hardest in theory, but other teams can be unpredictable too. West Ham did get a proper beating last time from Arsenal (6-0), but let's not forget they defeated Arsenal in their first game in December and they also managed to steal points from Liverpool only 3 days ago.
It's not going to be a walk in the park for the City.
15  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: April 30, 2024, 10:33:54 PM
Bayer Leverkusen have done it again. They scored the equaliser in the 96th minute of the game (additional time was only 5 mins but hey).
As much as they again confirmed their undefeatable aura, I think their performance was not that great and they should seriously consider themselves lucky for earning that 1 point.
The way they lost those first 2 goals was appalling and not what you would expect from the new Champions.
I'm not sure if they get overly relaxed after securing the championship, but they need to put themselves back together and stay focused ahead of the Roma match on Thu.

Sporo ludzi (wliczając mnie) pisze i tu i tam.

19  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: 📝[Discussion topic] Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns📝 on: April 28, 2024, 10:07:08 PM
Latest developments in the signature campaigns world:
Apparently Stake campaign has switched to USDT payments and consequently got moved to the Bounty board as well as removed from the Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns thread.

hilariousandco's (Global Mod) statement:

LoyceV posted something close but not anything saying you cannot post a campaign paying in altcoin.
I'm curious where you read that:
Services provided/demanded on-forum for Bitcoin.
It literally says it's for Bitcoin services, and I've reported many topics over the years saying "Non-Bitcoin service", after which they got moved (or deleted). There's no need to say it's not for altcoins, altcoins are not Bitcoin.

Correct. If it doesn't pay in bitcoin it belongs elsewhere just like if threads don't pay in some sort of crypto at all threads are trashed.

Any thoughts on that?
I understand the logic, but I wouldn't be surprised if other major campaigns also decided to switch to stablecoins (due to the unpredictability of BTC fees), in which case, either Mitchell would have to change the policy for his Overview thread, or we could need a new summary (perhaps in the Altcoins section) that includes all types of campaigns.
20  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Premier League 2023/2024 Discussion Thread ⚽ on: April 28, 2024, 09:49:49 PM
It's a good time for a quick analysis of the remaining games of two teams still in the race for the title, Arsenal and Man City. Yes, I wrote Liverpool off already despite them still having mathematical chances. It's not going to happen for the Reds this season.

Arsenal PPGD* +0.24, 3 games left:
- Bournemouth PPGD +0.26 (currently 10th), Home
- Man United PPGD +0.35 (currently 6th), Away
- Everton PPGD +0.27 (currently 15th), Home

Man City PPGD +0.17, 4 games left:
- Wolves PPGD +0.38 (currently 11th), Away
- Fulham PPGD +0.79 (currently 13th), Away
- Tottenham PPGD +0.62 (currently 5th), Away
- West Ham PPGD +0.09 (currently 8th), Home

* PPGD: Points Per Game Difference. The difference between average points scored at home and the average points scored in away games. The higher the PPGD with a +, the better the team's performance at home as compared to away games. The PPGD of zero would mean the team is performing equally at home and away.
Source: https://www.soccerstats.com/homeaway.asp?league=england

Both, Arsenal and the City, are performing only slightly better at home. Arsenal has only one away game to play against Man United, while Man City has 3 away matches, 2 of them against teams that performed notably better at home (Fulham and Tottenham).
Conclusion: still anyone's game and way too soon for the City fans to be popping champagnes. The game against Tottenham is potentially the toughest one. They can't really allow themselves to draw any of those 4 matches as Arsenal has a goal difference advantage of 7 over Man City, meaning they would snatch the title.
