5161  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: show fees paid for past transactions on: June 06, 2022, 05:59:14 PM
I have never seen a proposal such as yours before. Can you tell me what you were planning to use the data for if it's not a secret?
If it has something to do with using the historical records to try and predict future fees, you are not going to find any correlation there because history doesn't repeat itself when it comes to fees.
5162  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: trouble with bitshield on: June 06, 2022, 05:11:50 PM
If it did not it goes back to probably a scam or just poorly written.
One can always contact the support and make up a fake story to see how they will handle it. Tell them that you have the wallet on your phone and whenever you are trying to send Bitcoin from it, the app won't let you and it just crashes. You then ask them what derivation path they use for Bitcoin, how to recover the wallet on a different device, or how to send BTC out of the wallet.
5163  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Foundation Passport (FE) hardware wallet review and walkthrough on: June 06, 2022, 12:04:50 PM
<Snip>
I guess you have a lot to catch up on when it comes to hardware wallets. Luckily, you are in the right sub-board for that. Start reading the threads in the Hardware wallets sub that you think look interesting.

Let me give you a few recommendations and then we should get out of this thread because this discussion is about the Foundation Passport and not HWs in general. If you have additional questions, ask in the appropriate threads.

[BIG LIST] Hardware wallets (80+)
This is a big list of popular and not so popular HWs.

Open Source Hardware Wallets
This is a shorter one focusing only on devices that are open-source.

Show off your hardware wallet
Here you can take a look at some picture posted by forum members and see how they look in real life.

Sorry n0nce...
5164  Other / Archival / Re: Announcing Wasabi Wallet 2.0 on: June 06, 2022, 09:33:39 AM
you need to download the program though right?
Yes.

So you are trading btc for physical cash in these situations or do people do bank transfers or wires?
Depends on the person and what payment methods they use. If you want to be paid via bank transfer, you find someone willing to send money to your bank in exchange for your Bitcoin.

So the dencentralized exchange needs to be downloaded as oppose to just visiting the site?
You asked this in your first sentence.

What rates ido they offer compared to say coinbase or gemini.
Check it yourself! Generally, Bisq offers less favorable exchange rates. But you remain anonymous and in full control of your money, which is not something Coinbase, Gemini or any other centralized exchange can offer you. As we speak, Coinbase might be considering blocking or limiting your exchange account for reason X or Z. Bisq can't do that because there is no traditional account to block. You create a non-custodial wallet and are given a seed to write down. You can import this wallet elsewhere if there is no Bisq tomorrow.

Got to assume you are paying more in fees for this?
You are charged trading fees. You can read about it here and come to your own conclusions.

i see payment methods in that picture include zelle and money order.  But who typically pays more?  The person selling or buying btc for zelle or money order?
Pays more in what? Are we talking about fees again? Check the FAQ section link above where you can read about everything you need to properly use Bisq.
5165  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: trouble with bitshield on: June 06, 2022, 09:17:50 AM
Why do people use such wallets? What's the selling point of the Bitshield wallet? I don't get it.
Inexperienced crypto users unfortunately get their information from non-trustworthy sources like social media or Telegram crypto groups. Those are the places that will bombard you with information about investment opportunities, crypto software, fake mining apps, etc. They also trust the ads they see and believe they are legitimate, otherwise they wouldn't be advertised. But that's far away from the truth and brings nothing good.

I am sure you won't find Bitshield in any legitimate reviews or as a recommendation by anyone who knows even the slightest bit about Bitcoin.

...if you check out the reports you will find most hacks and scams are done to window users only as it's not as good as Linux when it comes to security perspective.
It's not just that Windows is not as good and as secure as Linux, Windows has a bigger userbase than all the other operating systems combined. That means a greater chance for effective malware distribution and infection. It's also important to consider what kind of crowd is attracted to Linux and who uses Windows. Linux is a OS that is not that user-friendly as Windows. So you would expect that it's used by those who are more experienced. Developers, technology enthusiasts, security experts, privacy advocates... That's not your usual target group that will get phished, open unfamiliar emails and attachments, or install fake software. Those who do that use Windows.

In your case the thing is different like you are not sharing any of the device plug ins and not having cryptos on your computer but for many they are storing funds on Metamask...
My crypto is not on exchanges and desktop wallets. It's on a hardware wallet. But I don't use that machine for other activities.
5167  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies and their Bounty scams on: June 06, 2022, 08:53:38 AM
Seniors, please answer my questions The number one question is how do I know if a project is good or bad?The second question is how to verify which project can pay and which can cheat it will
99% of the bounty projects are bad and will amount to nothing. There probably still are legitimate projects out there, but they don't need to run bounty campaigns to increase their visibility. They collect their funds from investment firms and credited investors.

All bounty campaigns can cheat you and there is nothing you can do about it. The forum doesn't moderate scams and it's very likely you will only be wasting time advertising these faulty projects in one way or the other. Stay away from the bounty world altogether because there are better ways to use your free time.
5168  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Dealing with ISP block on Gambling websites on: June 05, 2022, 01:16:05 PM
You already know the risk, so it's up to you now if you will take that risk.

Using VPN to bypass the restriction could be called cheating, so once the site knows that is what you are doing, then they can always implement a ban on your account and worse is you'll not be able to withdraw your funds, so just carefully evaluate the risk, if you can take it, then go and enjoy using VPN.
The ban isn't issued by the gambling platform. His internet service provider is restricting OPs access to the site.

This is what I would do.
Contact the support, preferably via email so you are left with written proof. Explain to them that your ISP is blocking access to their site. Ask them if players from your country are allowed to gamble on their casino. Ensure that you read their TOS as well just to be safe that there are no territorial restrictions where you live. Ask them if you are allowed to use a VPN to bypass your ISPs restriction. If they say you can, great. If not, find another casino and do the same.

You can of course disregard everything I have said and just gamble with a VPN, but you could then get into the kind of trouble you mentioned yourself where you are accused of multi-accounting, etc. Save the email from support as proof they allowed you to use VPN (if that indeed happens), so you can show it to them if they limit or ban your account due to VPN usage.
5169  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: LTC CASINO NOT paying winnings . 1496 Ltc to be paid on: June 05, 2022, 09:13:32 AM
What about SoftSwiss? Are they also lying about SoftSwiss?
Where is the proof that SoftSwiss was even involved? Do you know that for a fact? A forum post is not proof of anything. Share their findings here, share the report, share the results of their investigation. LTC Casino didn't do any of that.

I met 3 SoftSwiss executives on Friday night. We had a few beers and talked about the NHL playoffs. I asked them if LTC Casino requested that they investigate bambolina's jackpot wins. They laughed and almost choked to death saying of course they didn't. See? This statement is equally strong weak as the one by LTC Casino where it is said that SoftSwiss found the gameplay to be fraudulent. And because of that you shouldn't believe me or them unless one of us can back up what is written with actual proof.
5170  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What Do Centralized Exchanges Consider as Taint? on: June 05, 2022, 08:54:05 AM
Yes, but it is helpful to see it in writing...
It is, but I also don't think it's going to make much of a difference. Most people aren't really reading the Terms and Conditions anyways. Writing and talking about it on crypto news outlets, social media, and forums like this one will draw more attention to the problem. People aren't concerned with house fires until their kitchen appliances go up in flames. When that happens, it's already too late.
5171  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What would you do if you are me on: June 05, 2022, 08:43:30 AM
If you are using Windows 10, you already have basic protection with Windows Defender and a firewall. I doubt neither can be considered world-class though. They are probably average at best. But that doesn't matter. You are supposed to be your computer's antivirus and firewall protection. Just like Bitcoin teaches you how to handle your finances, you are supposed to learn about online security as well. Each click of a mouse can have serious consequences, so think before you act.

Keep your work and financials away from the machine you use at home especially if you are into pirated software, torrenting, and girl-on-girl action after midnight.
5172  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: MS Word vulnerability could lead to stealing your bitcoins on: June 05, 2022, 08:29:53 AM
How to prevent this
1. Don't use Windows, but we both know you're not going to change that.
Like many others, I have to admit that I am guilty of that myself. Windows is all I have ever used since I was a child and I have gotten used to it so much. The thing is, if I had negative experiences, hacks, and stuff like that, I wouldn't hesitate to try something else. But I haven't. I am generally quite cautious and I use different devices for different things. Even stuff like USB devices don't get shared among my laptops. I treat almost all emails as spam and fraudulent and have no need to experiment with unknown software or even mobile apps.

Maybe when things calm down on a personal level I can take the time to start researching Linux and setting it up on one of my computers. I don't consider it a priority at the moment.
5173  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Creating a prepared mindset before the reality emerged. on: June 05, 2022, 08:14:54 AM
It's a good and interesting story, but I am finding it very hard to believe how possible it is for somebody to buy a new car, drive the car to the office himself with joy, and in the closing hour, he forgot he came with a car, am sorry to say but it's only motivational speaker that tell this kind of story.
It does seem like something you would expect to see in a movie or TV show. Think of it like this. He has gotten used to riding the train and using public transportation so much that it's become instinctive. He forgot about his car because public transportation is all he ever used for years.

I remember an episode of OFAH when Rodney got married and moved in with his wife (of course). After his first day at work, he returned to his brother's flat like it's the most normal thing. So Dell tells him: "can I tell you something Rodney? You don't live here anymore! That always makes me laugh.

However, you can always return to the parking lot and get your car. You can never retrieve your coins if you misplace your seed or don't write it down.
5174  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much do you care when you wear a commercial Signature? on: June 05, 2022, 07:59:09 AM
I have been in a few campaigns where different casinos and gambling platforms were advertised before joining ChipMixer. I don't read opinions on review sites because most of them are paid and unreliable anyways. I check the forum reputation of the sites I advertise in my signature space. If they have scammed before and have legitimate negative ratings, I don't apply for such campaigns.

It's tricky when we are taking about casinos because even the best ones have people claiming they scammed them and stole money. Sometimes you have to make your own judgement when a case could have gone in anyone's favor. Since 1xBit was mentioned by the OP. Anyone who cares about his forum reputation would never advertise this casino no matter what money is being offered.
5175  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: MS Word vulnerability could lead to stealing your bitcoins on: June 05, 2022, 07:30:33 AM
This does not mean everyone who has office installed can be hacked in 2 seconds, luckily. You would need to download an infected .doc file and open it. Then you're screwed!
You don't necessarily have to open it. Previewing it is enough to run the script according to the twitter posts DdmrDdmr shared.

The same recommendations that have been repeated many times still apply in this case:

  • Don't download unknown files from the internet.
  • Don't even download files from friends and family without checking with them what it is that they are sending.
  • Even if you know what it is, if it isn't essential to your work and life - you don't need it.
  • Don't save your private information in digital formats on your computer or online accounts. That includes seeds and private keys.
  • Keep your crypto away from your every-day computer. Keep your work away from your crypto and your every-day computer.
  • If one of your computers gets infected, not everything you have and do will be considered to be compromised.
5176  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bounties and Airdrops on: June 05, 2022, 07:03:45 AM
Airdrop Issue: Currently Bitcointalk has declared the initiative illegal so that no Airdrop is launched on Bitcointalk.
On-forum altcoin giveaways in connection with incentivized posting is against the rules. There isn't a big difference between an airdrop and a giveaway if both of them include a requirement to make post on the forum with your account address. You aren't allowed to do that.

Bitcoin giveaways are allowed. Off-forum altcoin giveaways/airdrops are also allowed as long as they don't generate any spam on the forum. The person giving away the coins/tokens can announce their intentions and request the forum members to sign up on a Google sheet, for example. That's allowed. They can also redirect users to a 3rd party website where the giveaway will be hosted.
5177  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Wrong foot on bitcointalk on: June 05, 2022, 06:55:06 AM
Good for you that you realized that there are better ways to spend your time on Bitcointalk. There is greater earning potential outside of bounty campaigns, and the best of all is you surround yourself with very knowledgeable people that you can learn from just be reading what they are writing. Take a look at the Bitcoin technical boards if you want to know more.

If you are looking for a collection of the best threads and discussions started on Bitcointalk, I would recommend taking a look at and bookmarking Beginners & Help Encyclopedia [UPD: +Electrum Board]. You can find everything you could possible need there.
5178  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies and their Bounty scams on: June 04, 2022, 06:01:38 PM
Those are not your traditional bounty managers like the ones you see on the forum managing multiple bounty and signature campaigns as a service they provide. They are probably part of the project and they are only here to manage the campaign and that's it. That's why they are newbies and have no or very few previous posts. Some purchase copper memberships to be allowed to post images.

Bounties overall aren't worth it. Especially those paying in unlisted and brand-new tokens that will get dumped even before bounty hunters get them into their wallets. And once they do, they will kill them off for good. Even if they pay, what kind of future does the asset you receive have? Most of them don't have any. People think that a scam project is only the one that doesn't pay its campaign participants. That's not true. It's also a scam to pay in a token that will never ever be listed anywhere and can't be sold or will never amount to anything.

Regarding the objective of such campaigns. It's to collect your Bitcoin and other valuable digital assets and sail off into the sunset while you are left standing there holding a big bag of nothing.
5179  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: how can i get the hash from this wallet? blockchaindotcom on: June 04, 2022, 05:00:44 PM
I don't use that wallet, but judging by this support article, there isn't much you can do if you forgot your password.
What happened with your seed phrase? You should be able to recover your wallet using that recovery phrase.
5180  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum 4.2.2 2-of-3 multisig: sign transaction with remote wallet? on: June 04, 2022, 04:46:34 PM
You asked something similar back in March.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5390338.0

Hardware wallets don't always perform as expected in multi-sig environments. I am not sure if that's true for all of them, but I have come across topics where users are having problems with Ledger devices. o_e_l_e_o also mentioned this to you in your other thread.
