5181  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Hastfast Sierra any advice on: February 29, 2016, 10:02:52 PM
Lol

Surely they can't be that bad.

Is there a pool I can for Eco 7 electric so just mine 7 hours a night on 4.5p

Tom
Yes they are that inefficient. They are many generations of ASIC old now.

It doesn't make a difference if you mine only for a few hours versus the whole day. You get paid for the 7 hours you mine regardless of which pool you choose. There is no magic way to get paid for 24 hours mining when you mine for 7. I'd suggest mining at kano.is but I'm biased.
Hashfast Sierras run at 1w/gh. That kind of efficiency is what you get from an antminer s2. From 3 years ago. 'Dyou see those profiting? Nope. Even though their hashrate is high, their efficiency sucks and so you're better off selling them on a website like ebay and first pulling out the psu like ck said.
5182  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Periodical Cleaning of Antminers on: February 29, 2016, 09:43:26 PM
Well just thought I'd update this seeing as I started it.

Cleaned out the 2 S3's I've got with a small brush and a vacuum cleaner. Both intake sides of the heatsinks were pretty clogged up with dust, so were the gaps around the fan motors.

Just got them up and running and after a few minutes they are already running 2-3 degrees cooler and seem to run quieter too seeing as the fan speeds have dropped around 200rpm (so the gui says anyway).

Ill update again in a couple of days to see if the hashrate has been affected.

Should be the same, that sound pretty much in par from what happen whenever i clean any kinf of miner and even my GPU's when i clean them after they've collected some dust. I enjoy the noise drop a lot. Smiley

I have them running under my desk in my bedroom (free heat so the radiator is turned off  Wink). I used to be able to hear them clearly from downstairs but now I can hardly hear them at all. Needless to say a clean once they get noisy again will be in order.

On the hashrate side of things they have been running for about 4.5hours and its not any better. I was being optimistic thinking I might be able to squeeze a couple of GHs out of them with a clean  Cheesy
You're pretty lucky you can't hear your s3s at all. I have one next to my wifi router next to my tv, and at night I hear the whirring of my s3 hashing ALL NIGHT. The good thing is the sound makes me sleep faster, bad news is if I wake up at night and I hear it, I can't sleep ;-; It's probably just old components. My antminer used to energetically mine at 450 ghs without O.C , now it mines at the slow speed of 430 ghs.

For the lazy:

#1 Ledger
#2 Breadwallet
#3 Airbitz
#4 Darkwallet
#5 ArcBit
#6 Samourai
#7 Bitcoin-QT
#8 Trezor
#9 LUXSTACK
#10 Bitcoin Wallet
#11 MultiBit HD
#12 GreenAddress
#13 Armory
#14 Copay
#15 Mycelium
#16 Electrum
#17 Blockchain
#18 BitGo
#19 Hive
#20 Coinbase
Great guide! I linked this to a few friends via email so they can find some other wallets other than my beloved blockchain wallet. I like breadwallet more than Ledger, because it's a lot more portable for me personally. Only bad thing about breadwallet is that it appears to only be available for apple. If there was an app for android or just an apk I would be happier, and it would be much more portable.
5184  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to collect BTC ?? on: February 29, 2016, 09:23:38 PM
Collecting Bitcoin is not simple. You can get bitcoin in the easiest by getting jobs from the services section.
Better trying for a freelance programmer or developer job looks to be a faster earning solution.

You can also earn some Bitcoins using signature campaigns. They really do payoff. Faucets and miners still work nowadays.
There's still one thing to remember, though. I don't think any of us joined bitcointalk just for the signature campaigns. When I found out about them, I was shocked. People really do this stuff? Now I know that people are spamming them everywhere. If everybody would post like normal instead of spamming one-liners everywhere because of "free money", I bet campaigns would pay us more and we would be much better off than we are now. Yeah, you can try cloudmining as well. Platforms (especially hashnest) sometimes offer cloud mining markets where you can buy hashrate, and it works out quite well. I've found ways on Hashnest to make a lot trading hashrate and earn a lot more from trading than I'd make mining. Faucets do work, but its truly a waste of time unless you like solving captchas. True captcha solvers pay more than faucets. Make a choice accordingly.
5185  Economy / Services / Re: YoBit.Net - Signature Campaign - Realtime Payouts (daily) on: February 29, 2016, 09:16:13 PM
Do you guys really need to pointlessly repeat the same thing over and over especially when the outcome is always the same? Just wait.

I've got a list of well over 100 users who are going to be removed from the campaign over the next couple of days so I suggest if you don't want to get removed you start putting more effort in because anyone posting streams of one liners will be included and now secondstrade has closed their campaign you'll likely have no where else to go.

^
We should start putting in more effort now. There's no point in bitching about the button unless you want to be removed from the campaign. I don't know about you, but yeah, i'd want to stay. There's nothing else to fall back on, and you don't have anywhere else to go, so we should all man up and do some better posts, or deal with it and get kicked out of yobit. I've already made my decision, I hope you guys will follow me and do what hillariousandco says we should do.
It's just such a big nuisance when a little button breaks and people start posting one-liners about it. Don't you have anything else to do? I didn't join this forum for money, and I don't think you did either. I joined to have fun and talk about bitcoin, not about some little button that everybody is shouting about. So stop, and don't post more crap about this button. You can't fix it, and neither can I, so just wait and it will all be resolved.

I have the money to buy a coupon and I want to, but their withdrawal is stuck in space and I can't. I really cant buy one right now, but good luck. You need to be brave to buy one tomorrow- march 1. That takes guts that I don't have Smiley
5187  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: all4btc.com - buy all amazon products with bitcoins on: February 29, 2016, 08:52:13 PM
I have been waiting 3 days and my order is still not confirmed! Suppport hasn't said anything and its kind of sad that a good looking company like this would make people wait this long...

Did you hear anything from them yet? I am debating on using it but am weary when it comes to these things. Could you let me know if you make contact, and if your order is successfully placed (on the site you buy from)?

--MisterCoin
They just confirmed it 7-8 hours after my post. What I suggest now is not to use the service for items on ebay that could be sold out quickly, because obviously you'll have problems when it sells out. I bought 3 heatsinks for the back of my block erupters. Hopefully it ships soon Cheesy
But again, its all luck and they could confirm in one day or two. only time can tell.
5188  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to collect BTC ?? on: February 29, 2016, 12:56:18 PM
Bitcoin mining consumes a huge amount of enery and by design its energy consumption will get worse and worse. Gridcoin uses useful computation that is already taking place to mine coins. Most energy from mining GRC goes to help scientific research in stuff like cancer, clean energy, astronomy, mathematics, etc.
You're saying bitcoin mining is bad indirectly. You don't have to mask that, bring it Cheesy
No, bitcoin ain't bad. Without mining transactions would be stuck indefinitely, and there would be no new bitcoins in the world. Gridcoin just uses GPUs and CPUs, and you don't wanna know how much power those use.
Again, its just opinion, you can't just stop mining farms. They're not yours.
5189  Economy / Services / Re: YoBit.Net - Signature Campaign - Realtime Payouts (daily) on: February 29, 2016, 12:53:59 PM

I think yobit should consider that all post in this thread should not count so everyone will stop spamming here weekly for the same reasons.

It is eventually fixed over time. The promised daily payment is still there and the problem is only encountered during weekends. It's not a problem anyway, it's that the wallet from the bot seem to not have any coins to pay. People here are spamming for an obvious reason why the bot is not woking. Shouldn't you guys just be thankfull that yobit pays daily (besides during weekends) and even pay some people with shitposts?

they will not stop, because this campaign is not controlled at all, all this users are spammers and on this way there are adding posts. i am sure 99% of these users know that this button isnot working on weekends and have read about it many times, but what to do?! there are no moderators neither to this signature campaign to the site

hilariousandco is the moderator of this campaign. If you are actively reading the campaign thread then you would know.

be a moderator is one thing and do something is other.  every weekend pages of this topic is raising with 4-5 page with these same questions and answers.

I got solution for that.
Yobit should keep the button working so people wouldn't need to ask about it every week...
And if people wouldn't ask about it when it is broken they may not even notice it and they would not fix it at all then.

I think this is the best solution. but i think they need more Bitcoin to fill yobit signature campaign balance.
So that the button will always work.. But i think they don't care bout that because they are just budgeting their signature payout every week..
I was wondering why people have to make a fuss about the damn button. It's just at most for 3 days is around $6. you can considered it as a saving mechanism that stops you from freaking burn the money Grin
Yobit will run out of money with the posts we're making right now. Yep, the beginning of the end is here. The button is only the beginning. IF PEOPLE STOPPED SHITPOSTING, WE WOULD BE A LOT BETTER AND MAYBE THE DAMN BUTTON WOULDN'T BE DEAD! I really don't care about the button, as long as i'm getting anything from this campaign, it's all good.
5190  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Tremor Games - Best Bitcoin Offer Site to earn free Bitcoins on: February 29, 2016, 12:13:20 AM
My account just got banned while I was waiting for a payment of 0.015. According to them my account was banned for being in violation of the TOS so I read over it just to see what it could possibly be and I was not in violation of anything there.
Not surprising. I had a payment of 0.045 btc waiting and it was also banned. I call scam on these guys. They had worked pretty well for items like csgo skins (20$ skin sent almost instantly) and crap. But now.. REALLY?

5192  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why is my Bitcoin transaction not confirming? on: February 28, 2016, 11:59:42 PM
I beg of you to never send transactions without a fee, EVER. The first time I tried, my transaction went through smooth (0.03 btc) without any problems. Second time, it took 4 days and was promptly dropped from the mempool. Don't ever do it, and if you do, pray that it will get confirmed because that's how hard it is for a no fee transaction to go through.
5193  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Why is my u3 only pushing about 47Gh/s on: February 28, 2016, 11:55:40 PM
I took it apart, cleaned it deep, put it back together, gave it an external fan for extra cooling, but im only pushing 47, it would start out with 60, then just drop, why is it doing this?

Most don't hit the 60 number I think you will see if you read through thread.  You can change your commands and should be able to get in 50's.   But I don't think I ever got 60 out of my 3 I had, then again I did not push hard on them to do it.

But I think 50's is more in line for most as far as what they realistically will get.
I can confirm what phil said, but yeah, none of my 4 u3s ever get to 60. I tried overclocking it to oblivion once and I nearly broke one with the temps. Tiny little fan spun like crazy and reached ~65 for a while then made tons of hw errors. You probably got a bad u3, if you bought one from a website like aliexpress or from russia, you're screwed. Those cheaper u3s are tempting, but they all are low hashrate. Most u3s tend to peak at 55 without o.c.
5194  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.319/GH & 0.51W/GH on: February 27, 2016, 10:21:55 PM
I'm one of those people trying to get cheap antminers on ebay because even if you bought bitcoin on an exchange and used it to buy cheaper s5s here, the price would be the same as these overpriced exchanges.. well... yep.
You think S5s are being sold expensive? Look at s3s and crap. Even s1s are being sold at 45 a pop, and s3s are for 70-90 commonly.
5195  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntRouter R1: 1st wireless networking device with bitcoin mining chip on: February 27, 2016, 10:19:01 PM
i actually switched mine to mine peercoin.. you have a better chance of getting a block.

What Peercoin solo pool are you using?

http://ppcoin.securepayment.cc/

i got 2 blocks so far.

Is that just with an R1? If so over what period of time, that sounds better than I would have expected.

Rich

no i have the R1, 3 compacs and 3 underclocked S3s on there..

the diff is just around 500M so its not hard to pull that high of a share.

digital coin is also looking pretty good, so i might try to stick the compacs on that for awhile.

i think mining bitcoin is coming to an end.. these alt coins will take off as more people switch to them.

Altcoins aren't just now taking off. Bitcoin is not nearly dead yet, but in the 2100s (assuming we haven't nuked ourselves to death or world war 3 destroys the world) people will only be mining bitcoin to keep payments going. block reward will be miniscule and altcoins will be takin off.
5196  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Bought myself an antminer s7 but dont know what software to download on: February 27, 2016, 10:15:05 PM
the antminers are all plug and play.

Now if you are looking at the software page for updates then dont. hit the little red X at the top right of your window and you will be thankful. Several units/people have ended up turning their units into expensive paper weights because they updated to the wrong software.
That's only if you flash an antminer. Unless you're doing some really high level software flashing, installing software like kano shouldn't do anything bad. I assumed that's what OP is looking for right now.
5197  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Zeus Thunder X3 VS Antminer s3? on: February 27, 2016, 10:13:14 PM
To be blunt, both are outdated tech that are at best VERY VERY marginal to unprofitable even if you have very cheap electric.

I really can't recommend either, though an S3 at least has a good rep for reliability and MIGHT manage RoI if you have free electric (and Sidehack is working on boards that should upgrade an S3 to competatively current sometime in the next few months or so).

There's a reason Zeus quit selling miners - they never managed to make a competative product, and the ones they DID get made were very inefficient for the timeframe they came out (even their later X6 models couldn't match the Innosilicon A2 machines despite showing up quite a bit later).

Yeah don't bother about the profit, if your miners will break down within a period of just a few weeks.
I know Bitmain is quality but really buying a 2 year old miner? Why would you do that?
If you really didn't have money, an s3 would be a great idea as they have decent gh/w ratios and are very.. good. OP has 1k to spend on miners, I would suggest buying a S7 miner and sticking with it until block halving. It's now or never with current generation miners, as soon as halving comes and goes, profits will take a nosedive and these "current" miners we have now won't profit much anymore.
