5182  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Proof of pure luck on: October 09, 2020, 01:27:38 PM
Lottery is a pure luck-based game which is really hard to win. You need to combine a lot of numbers that has really a low probability of winning due to a lot of possible combinations that might come out. Let's say that you need to choose between 1- 50 and make a combination of 6 number in any order, that's really hard to do and to guess. That's the proof that pure luck can be experienced in playing lottery, roulette, and etc. It is obviously a pure luck gambling game if it make you lose a lot of money first until you win.

I agree with you, a lottery game is probably the closest we can get to pure randomness and also the proof of pure luck. Winning in the lottery is so unlikely that its more likely to get hit by a lightning than win any of the big lotteries
Casino games like roulette and dice are getting very close to such randomness
But the luck is not pure, because you can adjust your strategies and change your luck/odds with every round.
5183  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Coronavirus Outbreak on: October 09, 2020, 01:06:14 PM
Does anyone saw any real recent information about the corona outbreak? All I read in the past is that China was not allowing independent international scientist to come and make a investigation. So we have to take the Chinese at face value without any real chance of investigating the truth. I wish there was more pressure from the international community to get more facts about the corona virus outbreak.
5184  Economy / Economics / Re: The only thing goes up is debts! It’s inevitable! on: October 09, 2020, 12:55:58 PM
Debts go up and so do asset prices. In principle this development is only bad for those who own cash or Fiat. Sooner or later debts will be offset by inflation and therefore those who hold valuable assets will have advantages, all others will lose. In this point history repeats itself again and again. Unfortunately.

I agree, it's a cycle we have seen so many times in the past. A country is piling up debt that is can repay and will eventually default and likely get a new currency in the aftermath. And losers in such scenarios are always the poor little guy trying to save. Asset prices might go up for a long time, but once the currency is worthless it will be hard to sell and find alternatives. The only real alternative to these bubbles is diversifying your assets across different currencies. Crypto currencies are the perfect tool to get out of the FIAT trap.
5185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Finally!! McAfee is arrested in Spain and now facing extradition on: October 09, 2020, 12:45:42 PM
I think everyone understands the risks of trading cryptocurrencies. But this does not stop many people when everyone sees the opportunity to get unlimited profit. In this case, only a loss can stop it. And everyone makes a decision for themselves either to leave the trade, or to switch to other types of trading, such as holding. In any case, long-term trading will be more profitable than daily trading.

The best thing we can learn from McAfee is that we shouldn't be doing tax evasion. In todays times it is much easier to find people who are not paying their taxes. Data can be accessed and analysed so much faster than 20 years ago that it's just not paying off anymore. Poor John going to jail with 75 years doesn't sound like a good deal, but at least he had a great life before.
5186  Other / Off-topic / Re: Anybody have a Bitcoin tattoo? on: October 09, 2020, 12:02:51 PM
There are some cool bitcoin tattoos posted here. Unfortunately when I got my tattoos I wasn't into the crypto world yet. Just got 2 gaming tattoos from back in the days. Maybe I get a bitcoin tattoo when I reach 10 BTC, my current goal. I think its a cool way to show your friends and family you are really into bitcoins for the long run.
5187  Economy / Economics / Re: How many bitcoin is enough? on: October 09, 2020, 11:54:09 AM
I don't think you can say there is enough bitcoins. It just depends how much money you own in fiat currency. If you have  only 15,000 USD at your bank account then buying 1 bitcoin is enough. I would not recommend going into debt just to buy more bitcoins. But if you have a big stick portfolio of 500k-1 million USD, then it's better to start diversifiy more Fiat money into cryptos. I am targeting to have 40-50% of my money in bitcoins and other cryptos.
5188  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why do people go into prostitution? on: October 09, 2020, 07:14:59 AM
The common reason is poverty. Some women can only think of prostitution as the solution to their problem to have an easy money specially those uneducated. One of the prostitute I know is a single parent and a breadwinner of her family. So its all about money, I dont think women enter prostitustion for other selfish reason.

I don't know if this is really the reason why woman go into prositution. There are so many other ways to earn money without selling your body.  I my country it's very common that the woman is forced into prostitution by their husband or boyfriend. You will see a lot of guys standing outside of the brothel where their woman is working and drinking coffee. It's a clear form of exploitation because I am pretty sure they will take all the money away. I would wish for the government to step in and protect the woman.
5189  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin can be a part of N N Taleb's "Antifragile Barbell" Investment Scheme on: October 09, 2020, 06:59:37 AM
Bitcoin is a high risk - high reward investment, but it's not suitable for hedging, because recently is has been moving together with the stock market, so there's a pretty big chance that if a crash comes, Bitcoin will crash even harder. For this strategy the 10% investment needs to be something that is likely to perform well if a crisis happens.

I agree with you that bitcoins is a high risk/reward invesmtent similar to stocks, but I don't see such a high correlation with stocks like you. If we would have a big crash I think people would dumb stocks and try to invest into cash items, Bitcoins for me is similar to cash so I think there should be a lot of people trying to switch out of stocks into bitcoins. The problem we are facing at the moment is that there is not a lot of hedges available that are affordable. For example gold was the natural hedge for many people during a crash. But right now we are seeing Gold near it's all time high while the stock market is still looking strong. The long time of low interest rates over the last 5-10 years made many old hedges obsolete.
5190  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker Worthwhile freerolls and low stakes high prize and fun games on: October 08, 2020, 09:02:21 AM

Exactly this, I have been playing alot in micro stakes few weeks ago (< $5 buy in ) and have tried tournaments with around $5-$10 buy in for few days . Its totally different in alot of aspect, In micro stakes its pretty much consist of alot of shoving action with premium hands / pocket pair . On higher buy in tournaments people tend to let it roll slowly, they try to get as many chips as possible if their hands have win

However its get harder when it gets to less than 20 players, the battle for the last table is truly time consuming. I have played a $7.74 buy in tournament and its almost 2+ hours just to get from 18 to 17 players because there are around $5 differences for the prizes

It was a marathon tournament though, 20 minutes blind lol

I agree, most of the micro stakes tournaments and also cash games are a lot of pre flop all ins with premium hands. And most of the time you are flipping with 50/50 or 60/40 odds. And once you get close to the bubble people tend to switch to super tight gameplay. I usually just play the $1 or $2 bankroll builder tournaments which are alright, but get boring after a while. So playing a bit of micro stakes cash game while playing the tournament is a good mix for me. Even though this won't prepare me a lot for mid stakes games it's still a good way to keep building up the bankroll.

One of the biggest mistakes we can make in poker is moving up to bigger buy in games without enough bankroll. There can always be a longer period of bad beats and we have a much higher risk of going broke.

5191  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Favorite gamemodes on: October 08, 2020, 07:57:31 AM
I've tried only DICE, because I'm lazy af so I like games that's easily to know the results and could be easily understand the mechanics as well because it's simple. However, just like other gambling games, we're always gonna end up as a loser, frustrated how we wasted our money in just a flash, and having a problem where we're going to get another stacks of money to be able to spend in gambling to take back our losses.

And this keeps on cycling until we get addicted to it.

I agree with you, only focusing on one or two games increase the chances of getting hooked on that game in my opinion. I prefer to switch around with games. One day I only play Black Jack, and next day I just play poker or Dice. Another thing I try to do is after losing  some games in a row is just to stop playing it and switch. For example last weekend I lost like 10 games in a row of Black Jack, I switched to Dice and was able to recover of my losses. I really got lucky there.

Bitcoin market is fiery, what should we do

Please give me advice on what to do in this market

It's always hard to give recommendations because we don't know the future to a 100%. But what I noticed this year that any drop in bitcoin price is very short lived. The price of bitcoins is very stable over $10,000. So if you can buy at the current levels and just hold your coins until next year it would be the best strategy in my opinion. And if you already hold coins, I would not sell them at the moment.
5193  Economy / Economics / Re: Stocks fall down due to trump catching the virus on: October 08, 2020, 07:43:11 AM
From what I read it looks like Trump deliberately tanked the stock market. Was there some insider trading involved?

I was in the middle of selling some stock when that got announced. Luckily I still sold but missed out on $4 / share...eventually it went down $8.
...but it will likely be up $10 tomorrow.

Why would Trump participate in insider trading? That is crazy. He is already rich, no need for illegal activities.

Also why would you sell in the first place? It was some random panic selling. The Dow is already up again on a weekly basis, and still positive on a monthly basis.

So quick selling and paying transaction fees and now rebuying at similar levels with transaction fees again seems a bit like an overreaction to me.

Did you make a good profit? Don't forget the taxes on top of that.
5194  Other / Politics & Society / Re: All Christian Countries Got Fucked! on: October 08, 2020, 07:33:49 AM
Best time to change the religion to save the as*
Don’t be Christian I think?

Why care about religion in the first place? Most of the developed nations are predominately Christians, but you also see that number of Atheists is growing rapidly over the last 50 years. With increasing wealth the value of religion becomes less and less important. I mean honestly, going to war over some books written more than 2000 years ago seems crazy today. Under developed countries behaving like in the dark ages. It's just sad and we must stay above them, because in the end it's just a few rich people profiting from those wars.

How many of you lost your virginity to one of his songs?

Sad

RIP Eddie, he was the last great guitar player of our time. 65 was way too young.

All the best for his family.
5196  Economy / Economics / Re: Rise in US unemployment. Thoughts? on: October 07, 2020, 12:39:53 PM

That's right, but looking at how the covid situation is evolving I believe many businesses will slowly think to prepare for a long term depression. This might translate into few new jobs and lots of dismissals. And I am not taking into account that hyperinflation could soon kick in even in the West. For those who have a few bitcoins that will be the time to understand how fortunate we have been to got into it in the first place.

I agree with you, as long as the corona pandemic is going it's very hard to make predictions for the future. If we have to fight in the next few years with corona than it's very likely we will see a long lasting depression. But if we get vaccines for everybody in 2021 I don't see a reason why the economy wouldn't pick up again. Growth is always depending on the expectations of the future and we need a solution for corona to be really optimistic about the future.
5197  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why support TRUMP on: October 07, 2020, 12:30:18 PM

I like the way he runs the country the way the CEO runs the company.
The unemployment rate decreased
And don't let China become the top 1

I am not American, so it's a bit hard for me to answer this. But I think it just depends on your general views. Most of the people are long time democrat or republican voters. So they will always support a candidate from their own party over others. Probably only a few percentages of the voters are changing their political party regularly. And on top of that is you vote for people you find more sympathic than the others. That is why Hillary lost.
5198  Other / Off-topic / Re: So how many of you went camping this summer? on: October 07, 2020, 12:14:27 PM
I mean real camping, with a tent and trying to figure out that two-can stove thing without burning your hands off and the whole bit. Fun stuff, isn't it?

I usually go camping with some friends once a year for 7-10 days. Two years ago we were in Scotland, last year we stayed in Germany and this year we had to cancel due to corona. I love camping, but with the pandemic being on such high levels this year I didn't really go for a vacation. Hopefully next year is going to be normal again.
5199  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is Addictive...Pay Attention to your Gambling Habit!!! on: October 07, 2020, 09:10:34 AM
I was once an addicted gambler. It happened few years ago, I cant control myself when im playing. It all started when I play dice because I heard that my friend managed to triple his money through it. Unfortunately im not lucky just like him and lose. From then, I often try to recover what I lost, end me up to a worst situation. Though I overcome those moment its a lesson learned to not enter into something you're not aware of, about the possible consequences. Gambling is addicting but it depends on the gambler itself, if you have control and discipline then you wont end up as an addicted gambler.

That's sad to hear, but also a good lesson for new gamblers. It's good you manage to break the addiction yourself. I would assume you never played dice again, or are you still gambling? I read in an article that people suffering from a gambling addiction can relapse very easily. It's similar to an alcohol addiction where one drink can send you back into a downward spiral again. You must be careful with your condition.
5200  Other / Politics & Society / Re: All Christian Countries Got Fucked! on: October 07, 2020, 09:03:00 AM
All Christian Countries Got Fucked!

All Christian Countries Got Fucked! Why, because all the muslim countries now helping Azerbaijan against Armenia but the Christian Countries including UK are now sleeping.

I don't know, this seems like a very simple view on the escalation between Azerbaijan and Armenia. First of all it's not a war in the country of Armenia. They are fighting on Azerbaijan land where Armenian people trying to create an autonoumus state. Its actually not supposed to be part of Armenia.

Also Russia and Armenia have a defensive pact, if Armenia gets attacked Russia will automatically join the war.

I would prefer Russia as an ally in a war over UK any time.
