521  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou - March 9 on: January 12, 2024, 11:13:04 AM
Even after Ngannou's showing vs Fury the books line him at 4.20, via KO at 5.60 and vs decision at 16.  I think the latter has a lot of value in it.  Ngannou has the cardio to go all through the end in a boxing match as seen vs Fury.  But the question is how does Joshua take a punch from Ngannou?  Will he be able to stand up and soldier on til the end?  I really have no idea.

We already have an idea, Ruiz fight and even in the Usyk fight wherein there were moments that AJ's leg was wobbled because he was hit by Usyk who is not known to be a big puncher but still it has enough to bring AJ's legs to move.

We all know Ngannou's chin could take a punch and he could prolly take Joshua's powerrr.  :/

That's the scary part of Francis, he can take punches as well as dish it out. Wish though that he will have the stamina or developed it through 10 rounds so that he will still looks fresh in the championship rounds against AJ if this fight goes to distance.
522  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is the bull run begun ? on: January 12, 2024, 10:30:46 AM
The market is just sideways and one cannot tell where it is leading now. The news of the spot bitcoin ETF has made the market very unstable and many speculations have been hovering around it. Since we entered January, we have been experiencing a lot of volatility and the market has been on uptrend and downtrend within short periods of time. Bitcoin ETF will have effect on the bull run but the real bull run will still come after the halving as it has been for years.
You could say this Bitcoin ETF is a seasoning before the Bitcoin halving occurs. Market instability and uncertainty about whether or not to accept it makes the market volatile. But the ETF has been approved and Bitcoin is on the rise again. The real bullish is just waiting for time, waiting for the Halving to arrive. But we will see Bitcoin correct first before reaching a new ATH.

Or we can say that bitcoin halving is the real catalyst for a bull run this year. So we will have to wait in April and see how the bull run will unfold specially that we have the Bitcoin ETF approval already and it started to make some noises.

And so with the approval though, the effect is not going to be felt, this companies will have to settle down first. But there's no doubt that once we see or hear reports that those entities and their clients are pouring their money already, it might trigger that bull run, so let's wait and see.
523  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A brief advice for the newbie gamblers. on: January 12, 2024, 10:14:21 AM
We countlessly experiences new gamblers on daily basis in the gambling boards. Not just in this platform of
a mere gambling discussion but in a reality of gambling. So briefly, I call to your attentions the newbie gamblers to be aware that>>>
"Responsible gambling is cordially adhered by your audible alertness to realize that temptations as irresponsible gambling is inspired by your desperacies of making profits or recovering your losts".

Fellow experienced gamblers, your brief contributions would also be valuable.

Just control your emotions when gambling, it might sound simply though, but it's very hard to do as there will be times when you want to quit but can't. Just last night, we went to a casino and my friend already won big like $1k but still he continue to gamble. Although I subtle tell him to stop and withdraw his money, but he didn't listen to me. And I will say that he is a newbie.

And when we go home, he contemplate on his mistakes and I said to him that next time you really need to be in control and that is already big money in front of you and we should have quit when he has that instead of regret discussions when we are in the car.
524  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Look out for a good Altcoin and buy now! on: January 11, 2024, 10:15:28 AM
Bitcoin ETF has been approved which is a good new for other Altcoin as well. As we all know, since Bitcoin is the pioneer of cryptocurrencies if there is a significant increase in the price of Bitcoin it will also affect the price of other cryptocurrencies. For instance if by the end of the year Bitcoin hit the target of $100k definelty other altcoins will experince a huge increase in their price. Bitcoin bull run is as well altcoin bull run.

My candid advises to people who do not have the opportunity to buy bitcoin, is to find an altcoin that they can buy and hodl. If it is difficult to know which altcoin to buy, then I'll just list a few here i think i can spend some bucks on. They include Solana, Ethereum, BnB and Doge.

Let's put some effort and hope for the best to happen.

I don't know, but I still believed that regardless of ETF approval we will go on a massive bull run after the halving. It is still the catalyst way before and it has proven already. Perhaps this is just a icing on top so to speak to have this ETF in our ecosystem that will push the price even higher.

As for the coins that you have shilled, yeah, it's solid already and I think experience investors knows that it as well.

But there could be other coins that we haven't discovered yet that will make a huge splash this incoming bull run, so we better research further this diamond, a needle in a haystick.
525  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you think gambling every day is better? on: January 11, 2024, 06:10:16 AM
If you have the capital, then you can gamble as long as you want, it might affect your physical and mental health though. And as far as we know, everything in life should be done in moderation as we don't want to be addicted in gambling and other vices.

So for me, no, gambling like everything will bring more harm that good even if you win big. And we all know that sooner or later the house edge is going to caught up with us. And then we also have the luck factor. If you are unlucky, you can have a string of bad luck in days that will make you lose money.
That's right, even no matter how much capital you have, if you play continuously and excessively, it will even affect mental health. especially if when playing you encounter defeat, you will definitely experience more losses because you are mentally unstable.

It's just good though that gamblers here are discussing about mental health right now, not just the money that we can lose in gambling. I mean before it's like a taboo to discussed the mental effects of gambling, worst scenario is gambling taking their lives because they can't take it anymore specially if they have debts and they think that they can't repay it.

Everyone should be careful when gambling, again, it's not about the money, but it's also about the well-being.

And if you are unlucky, then don't force ourselves to play like everyday just to recoup as this is really bad idea that could affect us in a negative way.
526  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: January 11, 2024, 03:08:49 AM
Warriors is down against the Pelicans right now.

I will go with the Pels going -9.5 @1.85. It seems that the Warriors mentality right now is very off as a former champion.

As they are down 13 points in the middle of the 3rd quarter.

Hawks and Sixers going into OT.
527  Economy / Speculation / Re: Heading into 2024 crypto year: what are your hopes and fears? on: January 11, 2024, 02:28:49 AM
I have a number of hopes and fears for Bitcoin this year. But just hours ago, some hopes are not anymore just hopes because of the approval of a total of 11 Bitcoin spot ETFs by the SEC. That's one of the biggest hopes within the year. Now, it has already actualized. At the same time, that has also effectively removed some fear about rejection by the SEC which might result in a significant price decrease.

We are now having a smoother ride in 2024. The halving is near. We are on the road to $100,000.

I do agree, even if there is no approval, I think we are still on the road to $100k as we are in the halving year. And we all know that throughout bitcoin's young history, the halving is the catalyst for the bull run cycle.

And now that there is approval as well, we have another big factor to look at in the future as obviously, more money is going to flow in the market that will really push the price to 6 digits or more. So we need patience here and wait for the next 24 months.
528  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: January 11, 2024, 01:30:09 AM
I am not sure what Lakers could offer to get Mitchell, or Lavine to be fair but at least Lavine is not doing anything so he could be traded for not much in order for Bulls to potentially tank, whereas it doesn't make sense at all for Mitchell to leave, Cavs are doing fine.

It makes sense because Mitchell has already made it clear he won't resign with the Cavs, so it's a trade him or lose him scenario.

An interesting statement from Kevin Durant saying he doesn't want to be traded.  I guess he's been doing a lot of complaining lately and wanted to make it clear that he wants to be on the Suns now that trade rumors are starting to heat up and even mock trades happening online.  There's an article about it I've pasted below.  I don't think the Suns will trade KD unless it's for AD from the Lakers which won't happen.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nba/kevin-durant-i-don-t-want-to-get-traded/ar-AA1mLjnu

I guess I can say Kevin Durant practically understands that to build a championship team now is not about trying to buy one outrightly and more about building around perhaps a few, but core franchise players and looking back at last few trades and how much is left of his career, he’ll never be able to find the needed chemistry if he keeps getting traded at every deadline and only plays about 30-40% with supposedly co-championships worthy players that are being trade for as well.

He learn it the hard way when he did get out of the Warriors move to the Nets and then he thought that they have build a good and championship caliber team with Kyrie and then James Harden. However, they don't have the a solid team, with Claxton still very raw talent that time and the Joe Harris, on and off with injuries.

So had matured already and we all know that he is not getting any younger that another trade might take him 3-4 years of rebuilding a championship team. It's a good mentality for him to stick around with the Suns and him and Booker trying to bring the best of each other.
529  Other / Off-topic / Re: Who does gambling addiction affect the most? on: January 10, 2024, 09:06:21 AM
So I want to ask, between the gambling addict and his immediate family, who does the addiction affect the most?
I'd say the immediate family specifically children. while I understand the addict is suffering from addiction and its effects, the family is feeling the impact of it too, especially the children(if they have children). gambling addiction can ruin families, childhood, stability, security, etc... all of these things will greatly affect a child if they are exposed to these things.

I do agree that children might be the one affected here, if there parents turns out to be a gambling addict as those people decision are really clouded and you don't know what's they gonna do next just to continue with their gambling.

And with that, they might neglect the basic responsibilities to their kids like bringing food in the table 24x7 or provide them the basic needs these children have. So it's really pity to see this kind of effect to them and hopefully none of us here are not taking care of their children and instead pushing themselves to gamble more.
530  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: January 10, 2024, 08:50:16 AM
My parlay for the day is looking good so far. The Kings, Knicks, and Timberwolves came through for me. Now I just need the Dallas Mavericks to beat the Memphis Grizzlies. It’s not looking good at the moment with Dallas down by 15 at the half, but without Ja Morant I feel like the Mavericks can still pull out a win.

Damn, I also had the Kings + Knicks with the handicap that they covered and then Mavericks, no handicap at all all they have to do is beat the Memphis team.

Unfortunately, it's not just me that they ruin the parlay, and they thought that it's going to be easy without Ja Morant. But not sure what happen to the Mavericks, maybe they got overconfident on this game making us lose our bet.
531  Economy / Economics / Re: Pay discrimination on: January 09, 2024, 08:32:30 PM
Some will say that an white collar employee is more mentally drained out hence they deserve better pay but people who do menial job stop working the world will just rot as everything cannot be done but robots and AI.

It's sometimes sad to see how they are treated disrespectfully, be it a waiter, delivery workers, cab drivers, carpenter, or construction workers as they are the pillars and without them things will start falling apart. I know some of these can be automated but not everything.
Looking at the blue collar jobs in my area, I can say that white collar jobs are filled with people who graduated from college for no reason at all. Back in the day, during our parents time, people with a college degree ended up making a lot more money, so the whole world pressured the kids to go to college so they would be one of those people who make that money, but because we all did, now it means nothing at all.

In fact, I worked 4+ years without a degree and made about the same amount of money as afterwards, only after I found my current job that I got paid this much, and on my current job, that I have been working for 8 years, I have never proved my college degree, meaning I could have been uneducated person with not even graduating from elementary school, and my boss wouldn't know, never asked, I have my job, because I am good at it, as simple as that.

But normally they ask for your education certificates when you apply for a job. You are a lucky person that you have found your job, and your boss is a good person(from the words you describe him). Many white-collar jobs look like they could be performed without any education, but in fact you need an education to get them.

I do agree, I do in fact travel to other countries in mid 2000's to obviously look for job. I did get one, however, they are looking for your credentials and experience and diploma. In short you need to educate yourself to get a good job not just in our own country, but even outside.

So he might be lucky to have a good boss who understands, or perhaps his talent is valuable and hard to get that his boss never ask for his education and diploma. As long as he can do that job the right way and make his boss money, then it's going to be fine.
532  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Every New Year's Eve in Bitcoin History on: January 09, 2024, 01:01:18 PM
Nevertheless, I will say congratulations to those investors who risked their money during the bear market in 2022, and accumulated some Bitcoins at that time. If you bought at the bottom or near to it, you already doubled your money in just one year. I mean which investment doubles your money in only 1 year? Stocks on average gives only 7-8% per year and other assets give below 7%.

It's not the risk, it's the mental fortitude as well to buy the dip during the November crash in 2022 due to the FTX collapse. Because if you don't have the mental toughness, you might have sold and lose hope that time as the market goes down to $15,500 and there are a lot of doom sayers that Bitcoin is done.

But after that, 2023 was a good year, we have like 150% or more increased from the collapse.

And up to the opening of 2024, we are still moving forward after the New Year.
533  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Nery For Undisputed 122lbs Title - May on: January 09, 2024, 12:20:13 PM

As expected, Inoue is set to defend his title against Luis Nery of Mexico. Just don't understand why the venue will be in Tokyo, Japan as Nery was banned from fighting in Japan due to cheating but I guess it has already been lifted (for confirmation).

No odds yet but as usual, the Japanese Monster will be the heavy favorite on this fight.

So Nery would really be first on the line, it is really just that not shocking that they would be lifting that ban in Nery just because it do have a fight against Inoue. So its not really a surprising thing.
Why they do really love for Inoue not to fight outside Japan? This is why its never been that avoidable that boxing  fans around would really be having those rumors and sayings
that there's something behind but well, if everything is fair then it wont really be an issue but even me, would really be loving to see Inoue to come out and touch up another soil
when it comes to his further boxing matches.

Nery? would stood a chance.? He has power but i cant say about the speed on which i would really be still sticking on Inoue
for this upcoming fight.

Yes, it was speculate that he will be the first to have a crack at Inoue after winning the undisputed title. But you raised a very important point, he is supposedly ban in Japan, but according to the links, it will in Inoue's country, so it was a big surprised that the Japanese boxing commission is going to give exception to the ban on Neri.

In any case, I don't think it will have a bearing in this match.

Obviously, Inoue is going to be the huge favorite here and not sure if Neri has the tools to beat a prime Inoue at this point.
534  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao II on: January 09, 2024, 09:57:49 AM
I have mixed feelings about fights like this one.
On one hand, we all know they are only doing this for the money, they are both retired for quite some time now, they could've re-run it for the second time before retirement, but chose not to. Oftentimes when fighters decide to return from retirement is because of some financial problems and they have no choice, which is kind of sad.
But, on the other hand, it's still more exciting than most of the current boxing fights and I'd be happy to watch it, provided both of them are at least in decent shape and it's not a pure money-grab.
It's good for boxing, and if both of them are fit enough, with no serious health issues, and if both are willing - then why not?

I don't think that fight will break any PPV records as some here are suggesting. They are too far past their prime for that.

We can't really tell, but for sure the PPV numbers are still going to be huge, there are still a lot of interest coming from boxing fans, and so there is a demand. And we all know that if there is a demand, meaning fans are willing to buy the ticket either PPV or live gates.

Of course both of them are way past their prime. But their names still magnifies up to this day, arguments as who is the greatest amongst the two and that kind of discussions in not going to end. So we are still very curious as who is going to win when they face each other again even if it is just for exhibition fight.
535  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: January 09, 2024, 02:38:14 AM
I'll also back the Pacers here now that the Celtics won't have one of their key player in the starting lineup and even though the Celtics can still thrive without Tatum, i'll still trust the Pacers to have a better shooting day compared to their previous meeting. Hopefully, none of the Celtics players would suddenly put up a career-high performance only because Tatum is out.  Tongue

And that's what I'm talking about, although Haliburton got injured, still the Pacers with a huge comeback. But it's not without controversy, tied 131-131 all, KP fouled Matherin sank 2 FT and intentionally missed the 3rd one.

Boston had one timeout with .3 seconds and almost tap the shot in.

So congrats to those who back up the Pacers here to win this very close game.
536  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: January 08, 2024, 09:36:52 PM
I was torn between the Pacers vs Celtics game the last time, I wanted to beat on the Pacers and I thought that they have a chance to win when they cut the lead by 3 points in the 3rd quarter. But Celtics eventually make a run pushing the lead into 8 and won by double digits.

But this time it might be different though, so I will now go with the Pacers by ML @2.22.
537  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling on: January 08, 2024, 09:06:37 PM
Theoretically speaking if you could predict the algorithm in an online casino wouldn't you be able to predict the game and win a lot let's just say you had access to the algorithm and you were able to replicate it you would practically be able to win all the games

Lol, if there is such algorithm in gambling, but now someone could have discovered it, but it's not that easy. Even those who are great in mathematics who try to beat the system might be successful in the beginning, but it's the randomness and the unpredictability that makes gambling difficult to win.

No offense OP, but this just happen on movies, wherein someone see what is the card under,  Grin

Just play how it is, if you win then good for you, but don't day dream that you can predict the outcome or you have some kind of magic powers to see the future results.
538  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: January 06, 2024, 08:58:10 AM
Perhaps the Warriors are playing against the worse team in the league in Detroit Pistons hence the need for the Steve Kerr to give more playing time to his bench and even non-role players enough minute, but I hope this proves the he should be able count on these guys more going forward, and the game is quite significant a statement for Jonathan Kuminga, Trayce and Pod as I mentioned after their loss last night!!!
They did well tonight. Podziemski, Jackson-Davis, and Saric all contributed pretty well to the win against the Detroit Pistons. There were some bad moments in the fourth quarter where the Pistons got the lead but Steph Curry was so awesome at shooting his specialty 3-point shots and that put a dagger to win the game.
The sad part is that CP3 hurt himself and had to exit the game. I hope it's not that bad. Also, Steve Kerr must think about a plan for how he can calm things down whenever his team is in the lead. Because what happened today is just like what happened with the game against the Nuggets.

And this is what worry me if you are a a Warrior fan,

Quote
After sitting for the final 18 minutes of Thursday night’s loss to the Denver Nuggets, Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga has lost faith in coach Steve Kerr, and the 2021 lottery pick no longer believes Kerr will allow him to reach his full potential, sources close to Kuminga tell The Athletic, adding another layer of turbulence to an already complex Warriors season.

https://theathletic.com/5181608/2024/01/05/jonathan-kuminga-steve-kerr-warriors-lineup/

He was doing great against the Nuggets, but then again Kerr substituted him with Wiggins and then he didn't let him go back the usual in the last 6 minutes of the game. So Kuminga is frustrated and we all know what happen as they meltdown in the 4th and Kuminga was in the bench and can't do anything.
539  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Eight reasons why BTC will Fail. Thoughts? on: January 05, 2024, 01:19:41 PM
Not sure about the 8 reasons why BTC will fail, but the question to the OP, can also think of reasons why it will not fail as well?

Bitcoin has been with us for the last 10 years, and if there are chances that it will not succeed, then it should be in it's early years. And it almost happen, many early adopters quit and few of them really stay. But still even if the disappearance of Satoshi, the market continue to thrive to where it is right now.

So to say that there are reasons now for Bitcoin to fail? it could be just pure hatred on it, in my opinion. Then we think and insert terms, and what not to confuse Bitcoin enthusiast and then preach all about the so called fiat system.
540  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is Bitcoin Bear Market over? on: January 05, 2024, 12:51:32 PM
Well now it is starting to feel like that the 'bear market' is over. There has been some big corrections in the last month and now are waiting for the big news about Bitcoin ETFs. And that news might come tomorrow.

It's different now, unlike the previous years, pre-halving, we suffered in worst bear market, just like in 2020, wherein the price goes down hard before the halving due to pandemic at $3k.

But now, with all the anticipation for a Bitcoin ETF approval, we've seen like 150% increased from the last lowest low of $15,500 in this bear market (FTX collapsed, November 2022). So we will see how far can we go, at this early, we already jump 3% and higher and it could increased at the end of the month.
