528  Other / Off-topic / U.S. Millionaires Told Go Away as Tax Evasion Rule Looms on: May 09, 2012, 01:56:09 PM
Go away, American millionaires.

That’s what some of the world’s largest wealth-management firms are saying ahead of Washington’s implementation of the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act, known as Fatca, which seeks to prevent tax evasion by Americans with offshore accounts. HSBC Holdings Plc (HSBA), Deutsche Bank AG, Bank of Singapore Ltd. and DBS Group Holdings Ltd. (DBS) all say they have turned away business....

if I rent a VPS to mine the litecoin, will the VPS service provider ban my account?  It's using KVM.

It really depends on the hosts AUP, im currently mining LTC on a cloud and my hosting provider has not suspended my account.

530  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: AlertPay To Become Payza on: May 07, 2012, 12:36:44 PM
maybe they will finally become more professional, this company has been around for a long time, but a very poor performance due to lack of professionalism.

I think new name, same game, but we will see.

Well due to AP being one of the top payment processors for Ponzi/Hyip's, Autosurfs, MLM and many other types of online money making opportunities, i think they finally decided (or were forced) to stop serving the needs of these types of programs which most probably landed them in some hot water. Hence the re-brand and re-launch to help put its questionable past behind them.

they were banned from credit card processing for so long...
maybe they only got approved for a lower cost merchant account under a new name?

Yes they did have their VISA, AMEX and MASTERCARD processing halted for a while, but they did managed to get it back on track
and its been working fine since ever since. IMO i think the name change is to help them distance them self from whole Ponzi/Hyip's, Autosurfs, MLM industry that Alertpay had been supporting for quite a while now.

We are excited to announce that AlertPay is becoming Payza this month! The AlertPay you love is getting even better! With a new design, a new logo and a new name, Payza will also bring you:

New service offerings
Smartphone- & mobile phone-friendly access
More countries and additional currencies
Global bank wire loads in more currencies
Enhanced customer support
A completely redesigned and easier-to-use website
More e-wallet loading and withdrawing options
And more!

On May 14, 2012, the AlertPay platform will be transitioned automatically and seamlessly to Payza. What does that mean for you? Business as usual! You can access your money and use it the same way you always have. All of your information stays the same:

The same account (with your money in it)!
The same personal, business and financial information!
The same login and password!

Payza Worldwide

Payza will also be bringing online payment processing to countries that have never had access to such services as receiving convenient and affordable international payments and localized banking transactions. Under the Payza brand, existing AlertPay customers will be able to send and receive money around the world, and will now have even more options to transact globally. Payza will be directly contributing to local economic growth in underdeveloped and emerging markets by facilitating cost-competitive transactions across borders.

We are very excited about Payza, the new design and the new services, and we believe you will be too!
Stay tuned for more developments in the coming days!

Thank you for choosing AlertPay (soon to be Payza)!

Well out of the gate, since they are stating it will be able to run the Icarus bitstream natively, that would mean this thing is basically 2x icarus when running in that mode. So with the default icarus bitstream that's 760MHash/s but if you use the 200MHz icarus bitstream (if these boards can handle it without impacting the life of the chip, ngzhang didn't run it because he was worried about the chip lifetime on the actual icarus boards). That would bump it up to 800MHash/s per board.

That said they mention the Control chip can manage the clocks. So it's possible the control chip would allow some degree of throttling/overclocking based on temperature, or something like that. Meaning these could in theory (if cooled well) outperform the icarus even with the same bitstream.

Now that said, these guys have a professional FPGA design team on hand. So probably for a quick smooth release they will ship with the icarus firmware, but I would expect they plan to release an "improved" firmware which is designed/tuned specifically for this board in the future. But that's an unknown. Considering others are reporting success upwards of 250+MHash/s per LX150 FPGA, that would mean there is at least some headroom to grow with these chips. So if their team could pull it off there is the *possibility* that these boards could grow to be upwards of 1GHash/s or faster per board in the near future.

But ultimately until the boards are finished manufacturing. And testing, and have been actually benchmarked, we don't really know anything. It's all speculation based on the released info and specifications at this point.

Does that help?

Yes, it does. thanks for the explanation.

What sort of hash rate will the board be able achieve (sorry if this has been asked before)

538  Economy / Securities / Re: Red Star Mining IPO GLBSE Listing - FPGA double boards ~800MH/s@~40W - each on: May 02, 2012, 06:58:54 PM
~2.94 BTC so far , 2 days to go until 8 days of mining

Yeah but now nearly eighteen hours later only 2.83BTC has cleared.  My router went down Saturday night so we lost over twelve hours of mining so I will pay for the electricity this week out of my own pocket.  So it will be tomorrow (Thursday) morning about 9:00AM GMT/UTC that we have done a full 24/7 week.  I will start to transfer all available cleared BTC to the GLBSE at about 22:30 GMT/UTC tomorrow (Thursday) to pay the first weekly dividend at 00:00AM GMT/UTC (23:00BST) Friday (2012/05/04).  I should be able to fully predict the dividend to be paid in about five hours from now at 00:00AM BST (01:00AM GMT/UTC).

Any news of that FPGA announcement you have been promising for weeks now ?

I want to be able to weight my options : Lancelot vs yohan's board vs your mystery board Huh

Thanks !

540  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin price? on: April 28, 2012, 10:20:26 PM
I think whats needed is more everyday services and products to expand the usage of LTC.
and some good and constant marketing to expose the coin to more people interested in alternative currencies.
