I'm expecting this to be fully automated within the next week so that every time anyone issues assets there will be an automatic distribution. This may happen when the asset is created or when someone clicks the "start crowdfund" option our interface.

How many projects have created an asset that hasn't been distributed via Basic Income yet?  I believe Swarm Fund is one.

So far people can create a DCO but are not able to create assets as far as I know. A lot of testing has been done, I made a test-DCO myself to test the backend. A lot of others did as well to make sure things work correctly. I have no time schedule, but things are going well. So I personally hope to see projects go "live" and create coins as soon as possible.

I'm not sure what you mean here.  You guys just launched a project called Swarm Fund?

The website is open for people to create a DCO. Here's the latest Newsletter where people
with great ideas are invited to do so. You create a project-page, with all the information about your project and links to videos etc. You can take a look at some projects already.
Swarm Fund is one of them.

Also a moot point but votings very simple for common stockholders, I received several voting forms from my brokers in the post yesterday, they're laid out with tick boxes for voting decisions, which you can submit by mail, telephone or online at www.proxypush.com/IBUS. You authorize someone to give a proxy vote on your behalf, I can't understand why you think this is run through lawyers?

Hi there, I get this voting forms as well. Interactive brokers sends them to my home and I can choose to vote. But if you're a little start-up creating an App for Iphone and Android, how can this be
done? It can't. That's one of the great things when creating a DCO and doing a crowdsale. The coins/tokens make you able to vote on subjects for the little start-up as well, without the need for them to be traded on the NASDAQ or so. It makes smaller investors able to invest in little companies as well, so not only the big VC's and investment firms are able to get in, you should be able to as well. When it comes to cryptoequity I even think people should have the same rights as VC's as well. I wish I was able to get in to Oculus or Uber when they were small. The same for PONO, they made you able to invest in them, but you needed at least $5000 (and be in the US?) to do so. What I hope is that this will become different in the future. I think it would be great when even a 19 year old in India is able to become a "stockholder" or at least has the same rights as the big guys. Even if he has only $20 to invest. That's why I volunteered for Swarm. We should all be able to invest in little start-ups and crowdsales. And when a new Uber or Oculus gets funded, we should get more than an early buy of their product or a T-shirt, we should be able to get the same rights as VC's and others. That's my dream  Cool

I'm planning a crowdsale by the end of the year and have come up with a different conclusion on how to separate myself from a security, while still giving a solid incentive to investors. I'd be interested to hear what you think, the plan may change, and as of yet I haven't received any legal advice on the matter.

That's great. Did you had a look at the DCO-model?

I'm confused about how SWARM will make money? Will they be taking a fee?

They're making an Ethereum app which sounds amazing but Ethereum apps don't make money. I don't see anyone using an Ethereum app that isn't open source and decentralized?

At least 1% of the coins from new projects will go to SWARM-holders. Swarm is holding SWARM (the coin) themselves. So when successful projects launch on the platform, and these coins get distributed it's great for Swarm as well. Imagine if the new Maidsafe or new Ethereum or some other great projects would launch using Swarm, some of these coins would go out to the SWARM-holders. There is a little fee involved in creating a DCO and creating coins, at least some have to be payed for the Bitcoin-transaction. I don't know the exact costs, maybe @fractastical can answer that question.

Dietz further indicated that Swarm will be looking to distance itself from the idea that its projects may generate a financial return for those involved.

We bought SWARM as investors.  Bait and switch?

I bought them as well Wink The DCO-model is great for projects and companies that want to raise funds and make money for the investors. No doubt about it. You'll see
-hopefully a lot- projects that do exactly that. A lot of projects applied for funding over the last months. Most are about making money. But the point made in the article
is that not all projects have to be about that. The DCO-model is great for non-profit organisations as well. SWARM-holders got LOVENEST-coins some days ago, that's a project
about a community house. So far no money involved. But you'll see other projects as well that want to make money. I agree with you if you say that that point wasn't exactly clear in the article.

from Coindesk...

"Swarm is pivoting toward decentralized governance, a decision that finds the project shifting away from its original focus on distributed crowdfunding.

The move follows the release of a research paper commissioned jointly with DATA's Constance Choi and Harvard Berkman Center research fellow Primavera de Fillippi that suggested distributed collaborative organizations (DCOs), which utilize cryptographic tokens to denote membership in a decentralized organization, are among the 'crypto 2.0 models' that are unlikely to attract negative attention from US regulators.
The subject has been fiercely debated in recent months, following rumors the US Securities and Exchange Commission was seeking to crack down on projects that sell cryptographic tokens."

Coins are coming in. Here's the link to the "Swarm Example Wallet" in the block explorer. That wallet started with 1000 SWARM some weeks ago. New coins are coming in. Probably more in the coming weeks as well. Read about it in the online version of the latest newsletter.

"Friday April the 24th not only the coins from MANNA will be distributed to the SWARMCoin-holders but the Housecoins from COINSPACE as well. Housecoins are the internal currency at Coinspace, created on the Counterparty platform. COINSPACE is a Round 1 project. Housecoins can be used to purchase day passes and memberships to Coinspace. To receive the coins you have to hold your SWARMCoin in a Counterparty-compatible wallet. They probably won't come to you on an exchange because not all of them support the distribution of new coins."

I set up an example wallet on Counterparty. It now has 1000 SWARM. I'll update the topic when new coins come in.

I guess you missed the deadline..

*not surprised*

You're right, they tried to get the stuff out for over an hour yesterday. Some tech issue, don't know the details. But they will come, they'll try again today. If you feel
uncomfortable with that, I think I can't help you on that. I volunteer for Swarm and helped them to get the message out as early as possible (twitter, newsletter, forum, bitcointalk)
so everybody was able to get the coins to a wallet where they will come to them. Otherwise some people would miss them while their coins were on an exchange or so. There's even an Example Wallet
on their forum so everybody can see all that happens in the open, transparent for everyone to follow. So I hope to see them coming in soon. Just like everybody who hold these coins.

Can we still buy swarms?

Absolutely, the coins are traded on Poloniex and Melotic. There's a tutorial on the website on how to buy SWARM and how
to store them in your own Counterparty-wallet. Here's the link and here's the link to Coinmarketcap.

What's status of SWARM development?  Huh

A lot of work has been done on legal questions and the backend technology. In the next coming weeks a lot of new stuff will be made public. As far as I know
a new Newsletter will go out today. If you subscribe you hear all about it. But feel free to ask questions. I'll answer them here as well.

MANNA is a Swarm Round 1 project and they're building a Developer Kit for MANNA Dove, the 1st “Smartdrone” that is self-flying & programmable. To receive the coins you have to hold your SWARMCoin in a Counterparty-compatible wallet. Please note that coins at exchanges probably won't come to you! Swarm distributes the coins even over all the coinholders but we don't know if your exchange supports new coins payed out on Counterparty."

Can you tell me which Round 1 projects distributed tokens and on what date they were distributed?

As far as I know none of the Round 1 coins were distributed to the SWARMCoin-holders. The only coins that
were distributed so far are the Comic-coins ( https://www.blockscan.com/assetinfo/COMICCOIN ) and some voting-coins.
But these coins weren't part of Round 1, they were before that.
The voting-coins were used to vote on topics regarding Swarm and "Bitcoin Comic" ( https://www.blockscan.com/assetInfo/SWARMVOTEONE and https://www.blockscan.com/assetInfo/COMICVOTEONE )
What I've learned is that some of these Round 1 coins will be distributed after all. When I have a time and a date I'll update this topic.

534  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SWARM] Swarm - Cryptoequity Crowdfunding - Official Thread on: April 13, 2015, 04:18:52 PM
I thought the Round 1 projects did distribute tokens.  Is that incorrect?

It sounds like you guys are taking a very unique approach to solving this problem.  Have any particulars been published online?

No, not all of them. But a project like "Bitcoin Comic" worked very well, people got coins, could vote on different subject etc.  http://www.bitcoincomic.org
If you want to know more about the DCO's and the way they work you can join the discussion on the forum  https://discourse.swarm.fund

Thx for the questions!
535  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SWARM] Swarm - Cryptoequity Crowdfunding - Official Thread on: April 11, 2015, 08:54:25 PM
Thanks for your response.  How is that different from what Swarm did with the Round 1 participants?

Will SWARM holders automatically receive a portion of the crowdsale coins from each of the projects in Round 2?

You're welcome! Swarm tried to do this in Round 1 as well, but the lawyers said no to a lot of ideas because of legal issues. This
is a big problem to a lot of projects in the cryptospace. Swarm decided to get a lot of legal advice and partnered with some universities
as well to try to get this thing solved. Here's a long document about the legal part. http://www.scribd.com/doc/255347578/SWARM-Working-Paper-Distributed-Networks-and-the-Law

So, after that research project, Swarm worked on an answer to all these legal questions. And the Distributive Collaborative Organisation (DCO) came out as the answer. And yes, the tokens will be distributed
to the SWARMCoin-holders (in a counterwallet), they can also be bought directly using a creditcard or BTC. Even some of the Round 1 projects could be changed to the DCO-model, after that some of these projects could distribute their coins as well.
536  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SWARM] Swarm - Cryptoequity Crowdfunding - Official Thread on: April 11, 2015, 07:14:35 PM
Could you tell us more about this great stuff?

When someone wants to launch a project using coins, there are different options. You can sell coins which give you the right to use software (eg. Ethereum, Factom, GetGEMS etc).
Swarm is working hard on a different option called a DCO. This stands for Distributed Collaborative Organisation. When you have tokens from a DCO, they can bring you much much
more than just the right to use software. They'll give you the opportunity to vote on decisions to be made about the project, while at the same time you can make profit on your coins when
the projects makes money. So a non-profit organisation can issue coins to do blockchain-voting while a great App for your phone can issue coins which let you vote and make you some money
when they become popular. Over the last few months a lot of projects applied to be launched as a DCO trough Swarm. Five of the projects were selected for Round 2 and in the coming months
they'll do their crowdsale on the Swarm-platform.

PointNurse Partners with Swarm to Create first Global Distributed Telemedicine and Telehealth Collaborative Organization.

PointNurse, a new telehealth and telemedicine startup company, has announced a partnership with Palo Alto based Swarm Fund to help create the first Global Telemedicine and Telehealth Distributive Collaborative Organization. PointNurse will be joining four other companies selected by the Swarm Fund community in February in their incubator and crowdfunding program.Unlike other telemedicine and telehealth companies such as Teledoc, DrOnDemand, and MDLIVE, in which providers are paid fees for service, PointNurse will be deploying a community model in which providers can join the community as members, receive fees and have a proportional stake in the software platform.  “We believe, unlike Uber and AirBnB, where only a small group of individuals have control and say in the business or economic upside, our distributive collaborative organizational structure gives our healthcare providers a vote in the governance of the platform and pro-rata upside in its potential value as demand rises for its use,” says Cyrus Maaghul, Founder and CEO of PointNurse. “Telehealth and Telemedicine are inherently collaborative environments involving many different groups of providers to effectively engage consumers and provide high quality care and better outcomes.  We think this model is superior to existing models in this space today.” PointNurse is a consumer oriented service designed around a highly secure and encrypted peer-to-peer video, voice, and text technology to enable easy access to clinical nurse practitioners, doctors, psychiatrists, social workers and other licensed professionals to have prompt and confidential conversations.  The community is comprised of over 60 healthcare practitioners and rapidly growing.
