521  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Aren't I still paying the same transaction fee with Lightning to open a channel? on: December 08, 2023, 02:39:39 PM
So basically Lightning is impractical for a small one time purchase, which makes switching over to cryptocurrency note expensive than dealing with fiat  Embarrassed

The Bitcoin Lightning Network isn't as impractical as some make it out to be, but you need to understand how to use it properly.  You wouldn't open up a payment channel just for a small, one-time transaction - rather, the Lightning Network is best used for repeated micro-payments.  In some ways it's like a prepaid credit card in that sense.  The Lightning Network allows you to bypass the slower, more expensive on-chain bitcoin transactions, but just as you wouldn't get a prepaid credit card for a single purchase, you shouldn't open up a Lightning channel for a one-off payment.

523  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: message Not enough funds. You need to set a lower fee. on: December 08, 2023, 11:42:13 AM
The balance was 0.379 mbts. I had to pay 0.22. The mining fee was approximately 0.9 mbts.

Something doesn't add up and seems there's an inconsistency with the balances and fees.  If you only had 0. 379 mbtc before sending, that wouldn't cover a 0.9 mbtc transaction fee. You should look into why Electrum is suggesting such a high fee for your transaction.  How many inputs are being used? That can sometimes drive fees up.
524  Economy / Reputation / Re: Light_warrior / Memorial thread ... 🕯️ on: December 08, 2023, 10:10:46 AM
The sudden passing of light_warrior came as a real shock.  He was a stand-up member of this community, and a great person to have around who'll be sorely missed. Although I didn't talk to him too often myself, from what I read of his posts, he always seemed like a kind, thoughtful, and intelligent individual.

My heart goes out to his family and friends right now.  I hope they can find some comfort and draw strength from each other during this terribly sad time.
I'll send my small contribution to a memorial fund for his family.
525  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: 1 Bitcoin 100 milijna USD on: December 06, 2023, 12:31:57 PM
hvatio Grin

526  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to view cryptocurrency prices secretly on phone? on: December 06, 2023, 10:33:40 AM
Anyone have opinion on this?

Wow, this sure is a long-winded post about something pretty simple! I get that you wanna stay on top of the latest Bitcoin price, but constantly checking Bitstamp exchange seems like overkill for just a quick price check.  No wonder your old phone couldn't handle it! Did you know there's probably a way easier way to do this? They make apps with handy widgets for price updates.  You even mentioned CMC in some of your other posts, so I'm sure you're familiar with that website. And there's about a zillion other notification and ticker options you could use instead.

As for the privacy stuff, I'm not really following your logic.  If you're worried about prying eyes just don't be checking your phone out in the open for everyone to see and use common sense, right?
527  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [WARNING] MIR Bounty Campaign - Fake Team + Fake Project on: December 06, 2023, 08:23:21 AM
This is such an obvious scam project, and any manager worth their salt should have recognized the red flags within minutes.
I'm tagging the manager for his negligence and blatant greed in promoting anything that could generate a quick buck, regardless of its legitimacy or warnings from the community.

Our team has carefully researched the project following several criteria as we did for all of the campaigns we have managed or published.
528  Economy / Economics / Re: Being rich = not looking at price tag on: December 05, 2023, 01:10:54 PM
Well, that's just human nature I guess.  Even folks who got money coming out their ears still watch the price tags.  I once knew this lady loaded with cash, but she'd haggle over a 60 buck pair of shoes like her life depended on it.  Which is fair enough when you're on a budget, but come on.

Anyway point is that people with money still care what things cost and  they'll compare prices and even bargain before taking out cash or swiping that credit card.  Can't say I blame them though.  I do the same when money's tight.
529  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading is not very easy; it took my friend a long time to understand. on: December 05, 2023, 01:04:39 PM
Even if a few lucky fools can pull off an overnight trading success story most of them will likely crash and burn soon after and  so don't try chasing quick wins.  You won't suddenly wake up one day and find yourself with bags full of money.  Instead, success as a trader requires patience, effort, and plenty of failures along the way.  Trading mastery is a marathon a lifelong journey, not something you can pick up overnight.  Gotta be ready to study, test strategies, and stumble a whole lot before finding your groove.

If you really want to make it as a trader, be prepared to work hard and accept the slow, meandering path to consistent profits and sustainable financial freedom.
530  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are bitcoin investors violators? on: December 05, 2023, 10:28:29 AM
Going against the rules isn't always a bad thing to do.  There's times when it's the proper response, like when folks were advocating for equal opportunities for all people no matter their skin color and  when laws seem unjust, weve got an obligation to speak up and object.

Even though some officials have wanted to limit or outlaw Bitcoin, a lot of people see these as old-fashioned ineffective tries to regulate something that's already shown it can take whatever's thrown at it and keep going strong. Just as we get to pick the products and services we pay for, we should also be able to choose the money we like to use.

533  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Stories on Bitcoin's Value on: December 04, 2023, 10:36:04 AM
If something doesn't have intrinsic value but is offered to the public, the issuer of that thing must redeem it. The thing has to have redemption value.

That is not true! What about art or collectible items? Do they have intrinsic value? Or redemption value?

It's not right to twist facts to try and make bogus arguments.

Art and collectables have intrinsic value because they can be seen and thus satisfy human needs via the sense of sight.

No. That is a flawed argument. Art has no intrinsic value just because it looks real pretty to our eyeballs.  That don't work - if it did, a photo or copy of some famous paintin' would be just as good as the original.  But we all know that ain't the case and  plus, this logic also fails to account for other art forms, such as music or literature, whose value extends beyond sensory perception.

In fact, your interpretation of value suggests a very limited understanding of the concept, as it seems to be centered solely on your personal perspective. But that's not how the world really works. I already mentioned collectables. What gives them value according to your interpretation?
534  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the difference between a BTC Mixer and No KYC casino on: December 03, 2023, 06:47:33 PM
A no-KYC casino isn't really an alternative to a mixer.  They both provide some privacy, but work differently and  mixers are specifically designed to obfuscate where your bitcoin comes from.  Exchanges and casinos don't do that.  They're made for trading and gambling, not anonymizing coin history like mixers. So, for example, you can literally get your own coins back when you make a withdrawal from a casino or exchange.
535  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will you sell your bitcoin to blackrock? on: December 03, 2023, 11:07:19 AM
Well, in either case, it really just depends on if you're willing to take a gamble or play it safe.  I mean, if your money situation's pretty solid right now you could probably just chill with the Bitcoin you already got.  Who knows - their values might keep going up over time and you'll make out even better down the road.

But say you really needed the cash this surprise buyer's offering. and  That'd change things.  Like, if selling could help get you out of a tight spot or let you check some big goal off your list, then you gotta think about it more seriously.

Me personally? I'd take a hard look at what they're bringing to the table and weigh it against what I'm trying to do money-wise.  Whether it's a real estate flipper or crypto whale, the question's still the same - am I better off sticking with what I have or cashing out for whatever they're paying? At the end of the day it depends what risks you're cool with taking versus potential reward.
536  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I'm looking for sites with good sports predictions on: December 03, 2023, 10:54:40 AM
Please recommend good sites with quality sports predictions and detailed analyses of predictions

I'd recommend poking around on Google first.  There's tons of websites with sports picks and break downs.  When deciding which one to use, think about what sports you wanna track and how in-depth you want them to go.

Out of curiosity, what kinds of sites have you tried so far? Was there anything in particular you didn't love or found lacking about their coverage and predictions? Knowing what hasn't worked for you might help us to give you better alternatives.

539  Economy / Reputation / Re: Royse777 will not pay anyone for the last week /Sinbad campaign/ on: December 02, 2023, 10:25:39 AM
I was the participant of this campaign and i received funds from this escrow address few times.

My concern is that should i be worried about this ? I do not live in the US and the funds are in my Electrum wallet. Can law enforcement agencies can approach me  Huh

If you keep your coins in your own non-custodial crypto wallet, no one can access them without your private key.

Could the cops or whoever still figure out it's you if you slipped up and left an internet trail back to yourself? I mean yeah, technically they could if they really wanted to dig into things and connect some dots.  But why would they bother for such tiny buys or sells that got nothing to do illegal stuff happening? You're small potatoes man, they aren't gonna care.
540  Other / Meta / Re: Mixers Signatures : A challenge or Respect on: December 02, 2023, 09:57:39 AM
Mixer campaigns might be popular, but they're not the only fish in the sea.  People make it sound like banning Mixer sigs will totally wreck the forum ecosystem.  That seems pretty overdramatic.  Heck, even now there's more non-mixer signatures than mixer stuff.  I'd bet my bottom dollar folks will keep on advertising in signatures and  well probably see more instant exchange services, decentralized exchanges, and stuff like that advertised instead.  Banning one thing doesn't get rid of people's drive to promote their biz.  It just redirects things a bit.
