521  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: "Mattress Mack" loses nearly 10 million dollars on Astros Loss on: October 26, 2023, 10:18:12 PM
McIngvale won a record $75 million when the Astros won the World Series in 2022. If the Astros would've repeated as World Series champions, he would've won an estimated $118 million over the last two years.

It's not like he's going to suffer from a 10 million loss... only that it wasn't 10 million, like you're saying but 7.9 according to the article. 8 million and 10 million is already a big difference, but forgetting to mention that he bet only close to 10% of his wins from last year is a crime.

I too thought $7.9 million isn’t nearly $10 million. The article called it a considerable chunk of change. I think that perfectly describes it after looking at his gambling history of wins and losses. He’s not going to lose any sleep over this loss.
He’s not scared of staking big to equally win big. Moving on, he’s probably already started thinking about his next bet.
If I had as much as 75 million, I would be quite willing to spend about 7-10 million on various bets. There’s no rush. Haha.
522  Economy / Economics / Re: Women are more economical than men. on: October 26, 2023, 07:29:49 PM
Most times those men who give her especially the husband could come back to her to borrow same money he gifted to her in loan. That is the point but it is unfortunate that men will always be giving while women receive despite her things have changed, this aspect is yet to change.

I do think women being more economical than men is not entirely true and is arguable.
In most cultures around the earth, Men has over the years, assumed and had the role of the provider in the relationship and despite having gradual societal changes, a lot of men would still feel the responsibility to provide. And personally, I don’t think it’s much of a big deal. Everybody is free to do whatever with their funds even if it means giving someone who don’t reciprocate.

In a lot of marriages today, the man would seem to be the one who provides while in reality, it’s the woman doing more or all of the providing.
523  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: October 26, 2023, 06:59:57 PM
I just see Haaland as a small game player, never scoring in big games because he's usually locked by the defense. I still maintain that he's a flop no one is talking about. Imagine not being supplied passes by the wingers, midfielders and fellow attackers, you will find Haaland getting exhausted and easily dribbled. To be frank, nominating him for the ballon d'or is not something he merits, he should rather focus more on not allowing everything be centered around him. I think if he had not being nominated to taking spot kicks and De bruyne hadn't been feeding him those passes, his goals will not have amounted to the 36 he netted last season and even though he has 8 goals in 8 games for now, we are still seeing if the second season syndrome will grip him.

Haaland is definitely a big game player. He may score more goals when going up against no so tough teams than really tough ones. Isn’t that to be expected playing against a stronger and experienced opponent? You think he’s a flop but I bet Man City thinks otherwise and he wouldn’t have been brought in if he was indeed a flop.
He’s a good player and he always strives to score goals which are vital for a win in any game. He can’t help it if his goal scoring abilities are noticed. I’m curious on what you would have him do so everything wouldn’t seemingly be centered on him.
524  Economy / Economics / Re: What does being rich mean in your perspective? on: October 26, 2023, 05:01:19 PM
Rich is where you feel enough with your daily needs e.g. foods, place to live, afford to buy clothes, have a party etc. Having a party and afford to buy something like clothes are daily needs because you need a self reward and entertainment to enjoy the life.

Perhaps it would be better to take out partying and maybe put in some savings and investments. That is, if the person wants to remain rich. With inflation telling heavily on our finances, your savings alone no matter how substantial it may seem now may not be enough to cover daily expenses in the long run as well as emergencies that may suddenly arise.
Having a party can hardly be considered a daily need and there are more pocket friendly ways if I wanted to reward myself.

Victor Osimhen has an impressive record at Napoli, one which will live on even after his career but I have a feeling that his stay at Napoli is gradually coming to an end after issue that surfaced earlier between him and the club. That’s enough reason to make a player feel unwelcome. I also feel it will play a major role in his decision to continue or stay and in my honest opinion I want him to leave.

I think the clubs actions and refusal to formally acknowledge their wrongdoing and apologize for the insensitive “joke” that the player didn’t find funny or acceptable helped to make things worse. If they had apologized, no matter how insincere it may be, I don’t think he would be thinking that much about leaving Napoli. He has obviously enjoyed playing at the club and the club should respect all its players especially one that has contributed so much to the success of the club.
He may not feel respected after all of that and his position is perfectly understandable.
526  Economy / Economics / Re: Small Scale Business Ideas on: October 25, 2023, 11:37:49 PM
Trade via the Internet is very easy to reach but hard to accomplish  Grin I mean I see dozens of people ending up losing so trade also needs good knowledge before doing any kind of trading.

If you sell a product nowadays also hard because the competition is very tight and yeah you need a ton of money to do marketing and advertisements. I heard something on the internet about dropshipping but I dont know if that gonna worth it

I don’t think a trade done with a client over the internet is hard to conduct successfully. On the contrary, the internet has made it so much easier to find prospective customers from all over the earth for our business. But like any other service with good intentions, it’s open to abuse. Hence the constant need to make proper research about all parties involved before doing a trade with someone over the net.

Competition is always there as there are other businesses offering the same type of goods or/service. While you do need a lot of money for marketing and advertisement purposes, goodwill would speak more for your business than any marketing and advertising campaign.
527  Economy / Economics / Re: Young people needs productive mindset to be happy in life on: October 25, 2023, 10:57:14 PM
The way society views a person who does not work is often disturbing. Although many young people are well-equipped, the conditions in their countries may prevent them from starting a business. In other words, young people need to be provided with the necessary support to start a business.

The jobs provided by the state are generally not sufficient and the number of unemployed is increasing day by day. The state has important duties in this regard.

It's not easy to start your own business. In such a bad economy, losing your capital is a big risk. That's why most of those who want to start a business are hesitant and give up on starting a business. If people in the market could predict the course of the market, they could establish their businesses or work better accordingly.

You would admit that an idle mind, being idle isn’t filled with much not less productive thoughts. And there’s a difference between someone not willing to work and someone willing but can’t find work.
The government cannot provide jobs for everyone who is willing to work and it’s mostly the private sector who employs the bulk of job seekers. Any government seeking to reduce the unemployment rate in a country should create an enabling environment as well as put in place favorable policies that would encourage people to start and run their business.

Not everyone is cut out to be an entrepreneur and cannot safely start and manage a business. I also think people should seek accurate information that could be easily accessible about government policy currently in place that could be favorable for their business.
528  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keeping your gambling habit a secret. on: October 25, 2023, 08:51:35 PM
I always sort of thought that if you’re engaging in behavior that you want to keep a secret then you probably shouldn’t be engaging in that behavior. This is especially true with things like gambling. If it isn’t illegal and it isn’t a problem, why wouldn’t you want to share things you enjoy with the people that you care about? Seems suspect.

Illegal acts and other acts we indulge in that is generally frowned out by society and could be humiliating when found out are things we would likely keep secret from close friends and family but i think It mostly depends on the Individual and the penchant for sharing information.
It’s not necessarily a must to share with the people you care about, things you enjoy doing and while it may seem suspicious, it’s actually not.

Asides that, the people you care may not care much and could have a distaste for those activities you enjoy and may overtime become judgemental without realizing it.
529  Economy / Economics / Re: Population: Economic strength or weakness on: October 23, 2023, 11:24:34 PM
The population of a country is not always a headache for a state rather it will give huge benefits. let's take the example of China, it's the most populated country in the world but still, its economy is stable not only stable but is in competition with the superpowers. The more the population the more will be the economic strength. This shows that population does not negatively affect a country's poverty.

China is an example of a country that planned ahead for its population growth. They’ve got a strong economy simply cause they manufacture and export more than they import. Being trade partners with lots of countries, there is no shortage in demand for these goods.
There are lots of examples of countries having a considerable high population but poor economy with a low standard of living for most of its citizens. The more the population, the more the economic strength is wishful thinking as a growth in population in a country would overwhelm any government that fails to envisage and plan for the population growth.

Chelsea played well, even with the draw, I was impressed with their performance. Even Chelsea fans didn’t expect a draw from the match, most of them were expecting Arsenal to win the match, but Chelsea played a mature ball, especially in the first half of the match. Their performance wasn't bad in the second half also, but they conceded two goals. A lot of people will lose their bets because they didn’t expect a draw in the match. Chelsea are getting back to form, and I am expecting them to perform better this season. Pochettino already knows the position that needs amendment, and he will work on it. Let’s expect a better performance from Chelsea.

I had expected Arsenal to win the game with some resistance here and there from Chelsea. I sure didn’t expect Chelsea to score two goals and had the opportunity to secure a win over Arsenal.
When Chelsea got their second goal, I lost hope in Arsenal to win the game and the possibility of a draw looked really slim to me. I had figured Chelsea would hold on and possibly press on in a bid to score another goal and increase their lead. Arsenal also didn’t totally let down their supporters and managed to come back from being two goals down. It was quite impressive.
Chelsea did play well but ultimately failed to tightly defend their goal. They almost had it.
531  Economy / Economics / Re: Young people needs productive mindset to be happy in life on: October 23, 2023, 02:58:12 AM
There is a reason why you've become a graduate and that's for you to find a job easier. Unlike the others that didn't finish their studies, you've got more chance and edge.
But if you've been stuck into thinking that it is still the government to provide job and things for you without finding one and you want to depend on them, that's on a different level.
It's not about working for the government but you just want things to come like provisions to you from the government.

Admittedly, a good number of people detest working and would rather have handouts from the government but there are also people who want to work and having gone through college in hopes of getting a good paying job later on, find out there are not enough jobs opportunities in the job market.

The government whose job includes increasing the standard of living for its citizens obviously can’t provide jobs for all its citizens in the public sector. Hence the government has to create favorable policies as well as an enabling environment so new jobs to be created by the private sector and thrive in the midst of already established companies. That’s why I think people majorly still look to the government whenever unemployment rate rises.

Now Lionel Messi has denied the rumors circulating involving him with Barcelona. As we know, there are rumors that Barcelona wants Lionel Messi to return to the Blaugrana on loan from Inter Miami. But Lionel Messi feels he is having a good season with Inter Miami and he is very happy to be there. Lionel Messi also added that he wants to continue having a competitive season next season and wants to experience other extraordinary moments with Inter Miami.

I think with a statement like that it's quite clear that he won't be going anywhere even until February next year and he will stay at Inter Miami. I think Barcelona should give up and let Lionel Messi be happy with his new family at Inter Miami. Besides, what are they still looking for, will Barcelona, by being able to get a loan from Lionel Messi, be able to make money again and is that really their initial goal? What do you think?

Source: https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1716151482054001011

I won’t be surprised if Barcelona may be behind these rumors if any. I bet they probably miss him and would just love for him to come back to play for them while he’s still actively playing football.
But I doubt we’ll be seeing Messi play in a Barcelona jersey again. He has had an amazing time at Barcelona and should now be left to continue his career wherever he chooses.

He seems happy playing at Inter Miami and has indicated he intend to remain playing there. Barcelona should look elsewhere as I don’t think he would even consider returning to play for the club.

533  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your nice hit to leave the casino. on: October 22, 2023, 11:32:54 PM
This could have an negative impact as well. For a lot of gamblers with no discipline and no restraint on when to stop, this could lead to losing all the money you budgeted for gambling and even more as you could withdraw more funds cause you just have to win that specific amount you had in mind before leaving the house.
This could lead to even more financial losses as in a bid to win the amount you hoped to, you could play more with funds not initially budgeted and what happens when you’re not just lucky, you’ll leave the casino playing with more money than you bargained for.
534  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: October 22, 2023, 10:59:49 PM
I didn’t expect Manchester United could come back into the game after the first half, both teams had the same number of shots and on targets in the game but Manchester United found the edge over Sheffield united in the 77th minute and was enough to seal the win for them. You are absolutely right, Manchester united need to be productive even when they play away. I heard Maguire was in spotlight yesterday.

Although I was hopeful for Man United to win the game against Sheffield as they’re obviously the stronger side, I decided to keep an open mind and see whatever outcome would come out from the game. I had hoped they could score another goal in the first half and when they played deep into the second half and couldn’t, I felt the game would end in a draw until the incredible goal scored by Dalot.
Man United had some good attempts, particularly the two attempts that hit the woodwork. Sheffield shouldn’t be that much of a challenge and it wouldn’t have gone down well with supporters to have Sheffield get a win over Man United.
535  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: October 22, 2023, 10:38:16 PM
I think Manchester United's motivation to win this match is very big because they have lost 2 times in the 2 matches they have played so if they don't manage to win this match it will be very difficult for them to qualify from the group.
And after seeing Manchester United's performance slowly improving in the last few matches, I think winning against Copenhagen is very possible.
Losing their first two matches does not mean they will win their next match. Manchester United will be playing their next match against Copenhagen, if Manchester United is not careful, they are still going to lose the match. Manchester United performance is poor, and I am not seeing any improvement in Manchester United. Their last two matches played in the Premier League, they struggled to win matches that they should have won comfortably, but they are always finding it difficult to win. I won't be surprised if Manchester United end up playing a draw against Copenhagen. With Manchester United's current performance, I am not really expecting much from Manchester United in the match.

Manchester United had a win in their recent Premier League game with Sheffield. I thought they played considerably well and managed to keep their opponents from scoring another goal giving me the impression that, without the penalty awarded to Sheffield, they probably wouldn’t have scored any goal.
Irrespective of the win, I’m still not certain of their performance when they go up against Copenhagen. They’ve become so unpredictable in their performances and despite seemingly being better than their opponents and also being favorites to win the game, it would be best to watch the game having no expectations. Sadly, I too won’t be surprised if Man United comes out with a draw.

536  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: October 22, 2023, 09:50:36 PM
Arsenal was in better form than Chelsea and that is why many people  predicted arsenal will be the winner but as Chelsea finish first half with one goal many people was not now expecting draw or Chelsea to win because of Chelsea spiriting of that one goal and also the second goal in second half for Chelsea many people easily concluded that Chelsea have won the match ready because they was also having good attack over arsenal but surprisingly after the Chelsea sub some set of players they became weak that arsenal started given Chelsea dangerous attacks which lead to equalizer of Chelsea two goals but despite the equalizer of two goals Chelsea really performed well because I never thought that yesterday Chelsea will be able to net two goals or able to draw arsenal with Arsenal current form compared to Chelsea.

I was almost sure Arsenal would win the game with some resistance from Chelsea. I didn’t expect the game to go the way it did having Chelsea scoring two goals and almost winning the game. Their first goal, scored by a good penalty shot was perhaps motivating as they had a good run and played well in the first half of the game.

The second half began with the beautiful strike from Mudryk. Personally, I think he intended to cross the ball into the box but had a much better outcome as the ball sailed into the back of the net. After that goal, I thought there wasn’t much hope for an Arsenal win and Chelsea would go on to win the game.

Arsenal didn’t totally disappoint their supporters as they took advantage of Chelsea’s sloppy passes and scored their first goal. That goal obviously renewed their confidence and following a long and precise cross from Saka, Arsenal equalized the game and denied Chelsea the full three points.
537  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keeping your gambling habit a secret. on: October 20, 2023, 02:25:52 PM
Those that keep their gambling habit a secret is it that they're not proud of what they are doing?.
I think it's not about that they are not proud of what they are doing but maybe they just don't feel exposing themselves publicly with gambling or they just need some privacy. It could be that they have justifiable reasons why they did that. Common reason is of family related issues second one is the nature of the specific gambling or there is an issue about regulations or legality.

People have different reasons a for doing what they do. And if I decide to keep to myself the fact that I gamble doesn’t mean I’m not proud or ashamed about it. I just choose not to tell anyone.
Some people value their privacy and don’t see the point in telling anyone else about what they do with their time and money. It’s that simple.
What does it matter if someone decides to keep their habits a secret? It really shouldn’t concern anyone what someone else chooses to do with their time and money.
538  Economy / Economics / Re: Young people needs productive mindset to be happy in life on: October 20, 2023, 09:56:54 AM
This is a common problem today, the education the young are receiving does not lead them to have a job on their field of study and many have to work in a completely different field, and in that case we need to wonder then why waste so much time and money studying a subject just to do something completely unrelated? This is a problem that needs to be fixed, but in may countries the education sector has been kidnapped by teachers that want to teach the same stuff for decades, when there are fields in which everything can change in a matter of months.

I fail to see how that’s the fault of the teachers or the educational system. If an individual goes into college to study and later earns a degree but can’t seem to utilize that degree into being productive, how’s that the fault of the educators who taught exactly what the individual came to learn?
I think a lot of people do not think thoroughly enough on what they actually want to do later on and understandably, would end up studying what may seem appealing at that moment only to find out how difficult it can be to get a nice job with the earned degree.

Witnessing how increasingly difficult the job market can be, a college education would only get you so far.
539  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: October 20, 2023, 08:16:39 AM
I'm just reading everyone's comments on the match between Chelsea and Arsenal, and I notice that many people believe Chelsea can defeat Arsenal. I don't know about the other people, but I'll bet on a straight win for Arsenal to defeat Chelsea. Sometimes, we need to look at a team's past record before making predictions about a match. We all know that Arsenal is performing well in the Premier League to ensure that they win the league, and Chelsea is having poor results both last season and this season. In fact, Arsenal's performance is much better than Chelsea's, and if some of the teams that Arsenal has defeated this season were the teams Chelsea was playing against, I doubt the Blues wouldn't even be in the position they are in right now.

I too would bet on Arsenal having a straight win in that game as I don’t see Chelsea winning that game. Admittedly, there is always a possibility of having a win against Arsenal but that possibility, in my opinion is extremely slim. Arsenal, who’s in a much better form simply plays much better football than Chelsea who if we’re being honest, haven’t been really consistent in their games.
Ordinarily, I would have expected the game to be really tight and competitive, and perhaps have a goal or two from Chelsea but I’m not so sure of having a tight game or Chelsea scoring goals. Arsenal is simply the better side of the two and is looking set to winning the game perhaps with some sort of resistance from the home side.
540  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never gamble in front of your kids. on: October 20, 2023, 06:49:04 AM

Before doing so make sure the kid already knows and understands responsibility. Sometimes it has to have timing before you can show them gambling otherwise the kid will ask why you gamble when it can do harm to you. Remember that parents are their superheroes, you don't wanna look at you like you are more confused than them.

As much as possible, it is best that they learn gambling not from the parents themselves. The impression to them is a lot different.

I didn’t imply the parent should directly open them to gambling or should be the one to teach them gambling.
And yes, the kid has to have some sort of understanding about responsibility so it’s best to gradually open them to things as they grow older and matured enough to have a better grasp of how our actions and habits has consequences and can affect our lives.

Kids are innocent and naive. It’s best to learn as much as they can about how life works from their parents who likely wouldn’t lead them astray. Sadly, some parents today are careless and lack any moral value to impact on their children.
