521  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Tips or guid on how to upload your art work in the 2023 art contest by Mia Chloe on: December 25, 2023, 06:15:46 AM
Wow, I am so impressed to see a mate have the same thoughts as me, or I will call it a coincidence. I wanted to post the same thread as this since yesterday, but due to my tight schedule, I was not opportune. I am excited to see someone, and at the same time, my brother from the same country has done it.

What I will just say here is that all those members should partake in this contest because, even though you didn’t emerge as one of the winners, you can still share your experience by doing the art work or graphic design. Any time I am doing this graphic design, I am feeling some encouragement in myself that I can create something good that is capable of making others happy.

Kudos for your effort to see the improvement in others and arouse the interest of other members of the forum to participate in the art contest.
522  Economy / Economics / Re: Setting up financial structures before going into the family way on: December 25, 2023, 05:51:43 AM
Actually, it is very unlikely to be financially stable before you can think of taking another job for yourself or marrying someone’s daughter. Financial stability doesn’t mean being that rich or that wealthy. but to have good and complete access to money. Have what to do for a daily living in order to survive.
There is a proverb that says that all hands are not equal. That means we are all not going to be rich and wealthy, and some of us will still be poor. That is why I said you should be financially stable or have something to do to provide for yourself before you can get married, because even if you are poor, if you can meet some requirements of provision for the family, you are good to go. For instance, if you are married to the love of your life and you are working, you receive $50 as a monthly payment. In this situation, you can’t say you are rich or financially stable, but you have something to do that can provide for you and your family. What you need to do is just plan your life and that of your family on a budget so that you can live and manage your life.

Most of the people who have a lot of wealth and do not enable their children to earn rather they decide on child marriages believing in their earnings which is definitely wrong. Perhaps no matter how much wealth one has, one should enable one's children to earn for themselves. So that he can become a responsible member of the house and society.

There is something that I want you to understand about wealthy and rich; these two things have broad differences. because being rich means you have some amount of money and property that can sustain you, your family, and your friends and do other things for some certain time, which can finish one day. What I mean is that you can be rich and get broke within some years of your life, but when we are talking about wealth, this is not only having some property of money but a big collaboration and shares in many big companies and also owning many companies to the extent that the amount of money you are receiving daily can be spent lavishly for 100 people or even 1000 people for a complete year. Here we are talking about what you will receive daily, not weekly or monthly. That is what is meant by being wealthy. How will you think that those children that grow up in that family will lack or even think of starting something to earn money? What will he do with it while it is abundantly available?

Nice initiative! Op, you really try bringing this up; this will be an encouragement and motivation for us who still have low merit to the next rank. However, I will also drop my own here.

525  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Scam alert,,,,, Confirm before doing anything. on: December 23, 2023, 09:44:50 AM
To be sincere, scammers have a high IQ. If not from this story, how can you identify that this is a scam? Hmm, a lot has been happening and is still happening. Scammers are very wise. The only solution to identifying such scams is to just be calm and think wisely. If possible, you should start asking questions about your family or asking for information about who claims to be sick, which I think might help.

Though I also have such a scam story, the scammer almost got my head because when he called, he said with a friend of mine have a package to collect that has been ordered from a neighbouring country. And he put my number as an alternative, even though if they didn’t contact him, they could call me. I ask the scammer what the name of my friend is. And he called the name of the friend that we are even sitting with. I just laughed and told him to go and look for a good job or handwork that will sustain and help him feel To my greatest surprise, this scammer insisted that he was not a scammer until I told him,I am together with my friend, that he claimed to do the order. He just got off the phone immediately. So let's be wise and think before you believe in some people, especially in Naija, as everyone just hustles.
526  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is merit necessary for my survival here on: December 22, 2023, 11:37:08 PM
I really want to know if merit is necessary in other to secure my account, my friend who introduced this site to me said, I must have merit

To all indications, your friend that introduces you to this site didn’t orient you well based on the forum because if he does that, he won’t tell you to just acquire merit while he was supposed to share some links for you so that you will use those links to read and know the rules of the forum itself, how accounts work, and how merit and ranks are. With this, you won’t have to come to ask such questions, though asking questions is the best thing to do because asking questions helps a lot and will encourage your stay in the forum.

Merit is not necessary to secure your account, but it will help to increase your rank in the forum, so even if you have a lot of postings and you don’t have merit, you will still maintain your rank as a newbie, but if you have merit, you will see your rank increasing. Though I see they have already shared the link, you will understand this more there, so I will encourage you to go and read it well and understand how it works.

Quote
Please how do I get this merit and how is it important.

You can acquire or get merit due to your quality postings that are of use to the forum, and to achieve this, you are supposed to have a broad knowledge of bitcoin and how it works in order to be able to respond to others when they create a thread or ask questions.
And if you read and didn't understand it, you can create a thread yourself to ask questions when others find your thread, so educationally, they might give you merit in order to arouse your interest, so I will encourage you to do quality posts and always engage in research.
527  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and Behavioral Change!!! on: December 22, 2023, 09:01:17 PM
It should be a must to know how to control emotions as a gambler so that you wont use out of frustration to destroy what you have built in years in just one day. An alternative to control emotions if its difficult is to get a little bit of alcohol go inside your room, lock the door, drink and sleep till you wake up. After your awake you will have a different feeling and your mind would be at peace because the anger anf rage that was there when you lost huge will all be gone

Actually, you have a funny solution, but somehow it is not recommended health-wise because drinking alcohol to solve such issues is very bad. Let me clarify something for you. For instance, if you drank alcohol to sleep just to forget that you lost your game, did you think that when you wake up from sleep you will forget about the loss you made? So when you need the solution to such issues, I don't think it should be alcohol, because instead of getting a solution to your problem, you will end up creating problems for yourself because high consumption of alcohol causes a lot of medical complications.

So to have a solution to such issues, I can recommend some solutions. I know that no human is perfect, but I will recommend some solution which include, you believe in acceptance, get a limit on the amount you will spend on gambling, take a break when you discover that you are losing more, engage in things that will make you happy, and so on. I believe with this, you can have some peace of mind when ever you lose.

What I will say to you is that you are welcome to the Bitcointalk forum. Although you are a newbie to the forum, similar topics of this nature have been discussed several times in this forum, where you will see newbies are just after the merit or the rank, not maintaining the space of learning. As someone who is new to the forum, I didn’t expect you to start by asking how to get merit but to ask for help or questions about how you will be a beneficiary Bitcointalker.

Some people came here to achieve knowledge, some came for the money in signature campaigns, and some came to share their experience with others, so if you are new to a place, you should first of all learn what it is all about before thinking about achieving what others have. From your post, you said you have known about the sites for around a year now but don’t have any active accounts, so I will share some links with you, though you didn’t request for them, but I see they will be very helpful for your stay here in Bitcointalk, and I will also encourage you to engage in reading and research.

532  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / D RISKS WEY DEY EXODUS EXCHANGE FUNCTIONS ( HOW COINSWITCH SCAM PEOPLE ) on: December 16, 2023, 07:03:27 AM
Original Topic: Risks of the Exodus exchange function (“coin switch scam”)

Author: 1miau

I go just they leave dis tori for here as I dey hear say plenty newcomers dey use exodus together with the exchanges function as fah say the thing no get wahala to use (but e cost oo)
But as the matter day go e no tey wey some bad experience don they sub oo as some people wey they use am don dey bring the matter come Reddit. I no sure say this scam happened to small number of people wey day use the wallet but sha e no be one big issue like dat, but newcomers suppose dey know say the matter don happen to people, so as them dey use dis exodus of a thing make them dem dey extra careful and aware say e get as e be.
People wey them they use this thing suppose know say exodus no be exchange on it own ooo, but common a normal computer wallet wey join hand with coinswitch so that dem go fit perform exchange. Dis exchange of cryptocurrencies wey they sub for exodus no be only them day do am but with the other partners dem join hand with, so exodus dey send this cryptocurrencies so dat dem go fit exchange am with their partners dem. So tey The end of 2018 wen them exodus joins hand with another partner again called shapeshift, wey they work from Switzerland and Denver. E come reach the time wen the SEC (U.S securities exchange commission) say make the exodus bring KYC to dem wallet, na dat time exodus begin dey look for another partner wey them go join hand with.
Dis function e day under the performance of 5 provides, dis 5 provides include changelly, coinswitch and many of them, but sha report don drop as people wey dey use the exchange feature don dey complain of losing their coins

Some month wey don pass people they wey them don they complain give about it on Reddit:

https://www.reddit.com/r/ExodusWallet/comments/e6rydc/beware_exodus_exchange_scam_ripped_75_via/
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/ei0h8m/coinswitch_exodus_scammed_6500_euro_coinswitch/
https://www.reddit.com/r/ExodusWallet/comments/egphm2/exodus_coinswitch_are_a_huge_scam/

This nah small tori on how them scam them:

Some people don use the exchange function in exodus and them don sent the coins, but the coins wey them exchange no come back as them promise. After they don contact the exodus nah him them tell them to contact their partners wey day incharge of the coin exchange which is the coinswitch.

Some of the people wey be victim of this don do so to contact coinswitch, but coinswitch no gree do the exchange for them and still dey no come give them their money back again, including the money wey them suppose give as compensation for the cost of transactions. Coinswitch come say they must do the exchange and request for complete KYC or they go block all the money:

Source

They don freezes another person 6500$ and him don send the request information for the KYC o .
After the coinswitch don receive the information wey him send, they no still gree return the person coins for am but tell him say make him send video with complete information, him do dat one oo but still e no enough them and coinswitch say make him prove where him get the money from.
After him don do that one again, still them no gree release him money for him, e come reach the stage wey him mount pressure on coinswitch, him come do post for Reddit an him come lucky Exodus come day him side nah his coinswitch come return the coin o

=> E come be like say coinswitch try use KYC scope to scam the people oo (the users) and steal their coins.

Last last, I go say all this cases wey I don bring no be them be the major ones o but the unexpected ones, but sha no be only people wey get big amounts be victim o but even the people with small small amount fall for victim also. But sha I no blame Exodus but coinswitch because nah them day Incharge of all this coin exchange, which them come dey put doubt for people mind by freezing their coins, but after all this palaba people wey they use am still lose their coins o.

The question wey I get here be say after 2018 you don use Exodus for coins exchange again and him dey work well?
533  Economy / Economics / Re: Why do people rush in to buy things when rates are about to be lowered? on: December 14, 2023, 05:14:09 AM
From the subject of the topic, I will like to clear up some perceptions of your thinking in economics. If you have ever encountered what is called the theory of demand, you would have understood why people rush for certain goods if the prices are low.

The theory of demand stated that as the price of the product increased, the lower the demand for that same product in the market, and as the price of the product decreased, the higher the demand. So, in marketing or economics, if the price of a product is high, the number of people purchasing that product will be low, and if the price of that product is low, the number of people buying the product will increase, which is the main reason why people rush to buy things if the price of such things is low.

535  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 5 Resources to teach Average Joe about Bitcoin on: December 09, 2023, 05:44:03 AM

Hello, @fillippone I will like to translate this topic of yours to my local board (Naija local board).pidgin

When you translate this topic in your own language, be sure to find resources in your language as well.
What is the point of translating the thread if the linked resources are in English?

Find 5 resources in Russian or pidgin, if you want to translate the thread, please.

If I could understand your point well, you mean I should identify five reasons in Pidgin if I want to translate the thread? Am I right?

Yes, based on the thread, you give some tangible and educational links that will help a beginner accumulate or achieve bitcoin, and you also explain how a beginner to bitcoin can truly understand what bitcoin is all about.
Seeing this great and educational thread that will improve a lot on my local board is the main reason I developed an interest in translating this thread. because many members of my local board understand pidgin, even though some understand English, but sharing this thread with my local board will increase the number of those who join the forum without knowing what bitcoin is all about or even what the forum is all about, and some like to explain bitcoin to others but find it difficult to give reasons for the advantages of bitcoin. But if I share this thread with them, I think some of these issues will be reduced, and bitcoin will be understood more on my local board because all the information is already in the thread.

If I have in any way made mistakes in not answering the question correctly, please forgive me because no human being is perfect.

I am sorry to say op, but when you are trying to create a topic or bring something to the public where discussion will be made, you should do good and adequate research before you can write one of those things.

If I may ask, do you direct this to only the rich and wealthy in society or the world at large? If you are directing it to the rich and wealthy society, I will say you are right, but if it is to the world entirely, you are very wrong, because let's not even forget about the luxury brands and clothing. Let's just discuss food. The poor living in some parts of the world are not in a small population to the extent that it is so hard for some people to even have a single meal a day. So please, I will encourage you to delete or lock this thread because it is of no use and very low quality to be pasted to the public.

Sorry but there is life like this around me and truly they throw away alot food the fast food places do a lot waste.
And now days when fed cut rates covid19 times we was bored and bought a lot things what we don't need so many

Then that is my point: if you find yourself in this type of situation, you can divert these items to the less privileged (the poor). If those things have no use to you, they will be very useful to the poor because they will need them more and also appreciate you for giving them those items.

So don’t take my reply so irritating, but I'm just trying to make you understand your mistakes and solutions to such situations to avoid waste of goods.

Chelsea have qualified, but we can’t predict because the game is still ongoing, but I have more trust in Chelsea that they will win the game because I am actually a fan of Chelsea and am very sure we have this game because from the indications of the game from the beginning, I know we have the game, but I will reserve my word till the end of the game so that I can speak and say what I want to say about the strongest of Chelsea.Though I know Brighton tried and they usually try their best in matches, and I know they are also strong, here I am to support my term in any circumstance, so I say, Again, we will win the game.

539  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / More clarification on sane miniscript and valid miniscript on: December 02, 2023, 07:13:39 AM
I was conducting research and, at the same time, studying to understand more about the smooth running of bitcoin. I came across a content miniscript. Reading deep in it, I came across two types of miniscript, which are sane miniscript and valid miniscript. Although I read and understood a bit of it, I knew that sane miniscript is a scripting language that was also created for the simple and enhanced flexibility in the creation of bitcoin transactions, and it also allowed users to create complex spending conditions for their transactions in a more simple and reliable way. While a valid miniscript focuses on or adheres to the rules and syntax of the miniscript language, valid miniscripts are used to define the spending conditions of transactions. These conditions can include some requirements like multi-signature approval, time lock, etc. I hope I am not going out of the box, but just going on the way.

The main reason for creating this thread is to understand more and also to know the advantages of both the sane miniscript and the valid miniscript. I know I will have more explanations from other intellects.

4th Halving event expected is of April 2014 and block expected is around 840,000.

I will say you made a mistake. Instead of writing April 2024, you wrote April 2014.

Based on my research and experience, bitcoin halving occurs after every 210,000 blocks, and the last halving block was 630,000 blocks. But what is confusing me more and more is the journals and websites. I usually conduct my research because some journals say the next halving will occur when the blocks hit 840,000, which based on calculations is right, but what makes me confused is that some websites are showing me that the next halving will occur in April 2024 when the blocks hit 740,000, which makes me more and more confused. Though we all know the reward will drop (fall) from 6.25 to 3.125 bitcoins per block.
