521  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-08-12] Bitfinex Drops US Customers on: August 12, 2017, 12:35:52 PM
This is actually great news. It won't allow them to make more victims if they at some point close their doors and run like there is no tomorrow.
It's not really about that.  It's about the fact that Bitfinex is shit at abiding by regulations and they really don't want to abide by regulations.

Their fears are that working with US customers without abiding by US regulations could leave them in the same situation with BTC-E.  Their concern is completely reasonable, because the only other thing they could do is become really strict with KYC for US customers, and then become really strict for everyone because otherwise it would be hard to prove whether someone was a US customer or not.

If they didn't do this they would either:
-End up like BTC-E
-End up like Bitstamp in that everyone complains that there are way too many KYC regulations.

They are not shit. US laws and regulations are fucking shit. Why should they invest into lawyers when they can invest into security for example (they should do it lol). I think it's smart move
522  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Overfeat Bitcoin Gambling Script [ Cheap ] on: August 10, 2017, 10:03:19 AM
How can so many people sell the same thing?

Well obviously it's leaked somewhere.

@OP

Do you think it's okay to sell someone's work , ah fucker ? It's someones work, time someone put into creating this, but i guess you don't understand that little kid. Since i'm web developer myself I know how much work has gone into this and people like you straight up annoy me.

It cannot be leaked as it uses a license system and you get to add your domain first in the overfeat account before you can use the script. So, Others maybe scammers or I don't know. I am willing to use a Middleman or go first to legendary or senior members with trade history.

For someone with programming knowledge that is not a big issue really, as that check can be removed easily. There are ways to protect your code, but none are really irreversible for now. So again, if it's leaked it would take someone less than 30 minutes in order to make it work without domain check etc.

525  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Fees Will Only Rise Now: Lightning Dev Rusty Russell on: August 08, 2017, 03:51:44 PM
This is why I think Bitcoin isn't going to be mainstream digital cash. I think other altcoins will replace Bitcoin in digital cash while Bitcoin become something like digital gold.

Problem solved http://www.bitcoincash.org

Because it has "cash" in the name doesn't mean it will be mainstream digital cash. I don't see how it's possible with BCH as it's juster worse version of BTC. I don't understand why would anyone support it or mine it, or invest in it. Only reason why we are even talking about it is because everyone wants to dump it and they are complaining about long confirmation time now...
526  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New To mining on: August 08, 2017, 03:45:58 PM
If you can find them go for AMD RX 480/580 (more power consumption but that is not a problem for you) or if you can't find them go for RX 470/570 . Nvidia GPUs are only good for mining Zcash and taking into consideration nature of the coin, who knows for how long it will be profitable.
527  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FileCoin on: August 07, 2017, 06:29:51 PM
I don't see anything about this coin that isn't already there. HDD mining is known to be not profitable (in case you invest money and expect return) so only hope is if they can do something about that, but then again for that there must be enough buyers for their storage...
528  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-08-06] Road to $10,000: How Bitcoin Price Broke $3,000 and What’s Ahead on: August 07, 2017, 06:20:56 PM
But, the civil war isn't over yet, because there is segwit2x which require another hard fork on November, whether people will support it or not.

It will be same as august 1st. Press drama, price drop (buy buy buy), successful outcome price going up again and it's more than it was before.
529  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Spending BTC from paper wallet using offline transaction signing in practice on: August 07, 2017, 06:16:53 PM
I would like to spend bitcoins from paper wallet without exposing my private key to online computer. I tried it with Electrum following guide http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/coldstorage.html but it I couldn't https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2068804.0
How do you do it?

You can use Armory wallet (will have to run full node). It can sign transactions offline return returning raw transaction in hex. After that you need online computer to broadcast it on the network. You can use this link to do that: https://blockchain.info/pushtx
530  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Help - Power Cord getting hot and melting on: August 07, 2017, 06:13:38 PM
Hello,
I decided to run my two S5 miners for a bit again, got them all connected to my evga 1300 (110V), but after running them for a couple days, I came back and when I touched the power cord going from the UPS into the wall, it was cooking hot, the shielding was soft and sticky. So I quickly shut everything off.

What would cause this?
Cheap power cable?
Wall outlet not providing enough power?

I really don't want to try a different cable before I know what caused that to happen, since I work 10-16 hours a day, and don't want to start an electrical fire.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well most likely it would be cheap cable. But even cheapest ones are pretty cold in my case (running 1000W+) so best bet is to try with better cable first, see if it'll make any difference.
531  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Litecoin mining on: August 07, 2017, 06:10:59 PM
Has any one got a decent Litecoin mining set up they would advise using?
Thanks

If you really like Litecoin just buy it and support it that way. If you want to mine there are better alternatives. Avoid mining ASIC coins because of hardware. When difficulty goes up your hardware will be worthless, but someone will always be in need of GPU if you chose to mine other coins Smiley
532  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Block and Node.. Do they mean the same thing ??? on: August 06, 2017, 09:02:47 PM
So does it mean that we can actually have many or multiple nodes (or many full nodes) in the Blockchain and one node can help the other to validate transactions in the blocks that are in it??

In the context you mention node, it's not used for validating transactions. Nodes are used for creating raw transactions, sending them to the network, signing, verifying etc.. Miners verify transactions and usually pools run nodes for them
533  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: I Want to start a big mining pool, is it profitable? and wich script? on: August 06, 2017, 12:27:06 PM
Judging from what you wrote you are pretty new to this, so I can tell you right away chose something else to do. Anyway to answer you questions.

Do you think i can earn much with it, how much per month if so?

Pools earning are percentage based, so your earnings will be based on number of users mining

And wich script do you suggest? CoiniumServ , Unomp or another?

Big pools are running their own custom made scripts. If you chose to run pre-made script, you will be just like 1000 other pools

And are there other things that i need to know?

Should be experienced in server management. Running a pool is not that easy, if something breaks and inexperienced guy like you is running pool, how do you expect to fix a potential problem ? Other thing, there are thousands of pools now, why would someone mine on your pool ?
534  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Block and Node.. Do they mean the same thing ??? on: August 06, 2017, 12:20:33 PM
I have been reading some bitcoin books and online posts and I discovered that when talking about the bitcoin blockchain, block(s) and node(s) are being used interchangeably.

Now I'm getting confused. Do they mean the same thing or are different ?? Can anybody give a non complex explanation of both. I actually understand basically what a block means but it's the Node term that confuses me..

Thanks

When you say "node" usually it's referred to full blockchain (130gb+) and block is basically transaction data recorded in a file that is then organized into sequence called blockchain
535  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Gaming Altcoin on: August 06, 2017, 09:27:35 AM
Recently, I find one kind of gaming coins, ENJIN COIN (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2042871.0). Maybe you can read them carefully and check if it is what you want to find.

Never heard of it before, just look at it now since you posted it. I can say that this one is looking pretty good. Best gaming-related one I saw till now
536  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Minimum spec computer for mining? on: August 06, 2017, 09:18:14 AM
Cheapest CPU+Mobo combo you can find with desired number of PCIe slots (if it's still in production it will work fine, assuming you are mining on GPUs).
2 GB RAM.
16GB USB Stick for linux distro of choice (hard drives cost more and use more power).
Power switch
Powered USB PCIe risers

If you are mining a CPU coin you will probably want a better CPU.

2gb of ram is not enough. If you are mining with 6+ gpus you might need at least 8gb as I have read that some ppl have problem with 4gb
537  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: One address with 770 small transactions, Armory and Electrum can't handle - Help on: August 05, 2017, 10:38:15 PM
If nothing else works for you, download bitcoin core wallet and use cli to manually create raw transaction and send it to network. That must work for sure
538  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Investment advice for my $100 savings on: August 05, 2017, 10:35:03 PM
Everyone will say just buy BTC, then wait. You'r probably not in for that. What should you do in my opinion is this. Create offline wallet, get that address and put it away (put private key on usb and give it to parents or someone you can trust) but save public address. Put 50$ on that address now and use other 50$ to trade some altcoins on exchange. With profit from trading, deposit let's say 40% of profit on that offline wallet. Trade with rest. Repeat.

Why do that thing with offline wallet you may ask ?
Well you mentioned that you are new. When buying BTC you are looking in long term profit, that means months-years. If you see price drop let's say 30% you'll get scared and started selling. That's first thing newbs do. By not holding private key to your savings wallet that is not an option, and in a let's say 6 months from now, you'll see profit Smiley
539  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-08-05] Bitcoin breaks $3,000 to reach new all-time high on: August 05, 2017, 10:29:47 PM
Kinda expected after august 1st. Yeah it will probably go a bit down when newbs decide to cash out for small profit but after that we go up up up again  Roll Eyes
540  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-08-05] WannaCry Bitcoin Proceeds Converted to Monero Through ShapeShift on: August 05, 2017, 10:25:44 PM
They say that is not a good sign for a company. My ass it's not. With bitmixer.io down, just look at all people start buying monero with ShapeShift. In their eyes it will be only $$
