coin dead

how do you figure? its only been two or three days of low volume trades, but its also the holidays.

if you analyze the chart patterns over the last month, we started out with a double bottom pattern between dec.10 and 17th, with the support return by the 28th reaching above the resistance the security met on the 13th of december, on somewhat higher total volume. the rise to the new peak was formed by a triple peak/valley reversal pattern, with each valley meeting resistance at a higher level than the previous valley and each peak reaching a higher level than the previous peak, with a diminishing volume along the whole of the pattern. this shows a diminishing selling pressure, and historically results in a higher volume breakout. since december 27th, we have experience a low volume plateau, bracketed between 750-850 satoshi. all of this is easily attributed to the shift in supply/demand with our block reward halving and increased targeted block times, with the market adjusting to it. this is healthy, expected and in no way portends the death of SOILcoin by any means.

before making such prognostications, you should really study the chart patterns and do some research on them regarding bull and bear markets on the exchanges, how they relate to overall trade strategies and i think you might see things in a whole different light. its simply irresponsible to make bold predictions like yours based on two or three days of low volume on the exchange.

anynow, there are new developments in the pipeline, with one project likely ready for public deployment early next week, which should increase the overall exposure of SOILcoin in a very positive way. im presently working on the website for this development, which is a bit of a personal project, but all the pieces are pretty much in place already. im simply waiting for certain outside circumstances to be concluded tomorrow before i can finish setting it up. ill be making an announcement on that monday or tuesday at the latest, when its up and running for the public. i think you will all find it very interesting and have great hopes that it will bring in a new set of consumers for SOILcoin. the history behind similar ventures seems to point that way, although this will be the first attempt using smart contract platforms on the EVM in this way.

(yes, i know im being purposefully vague, which is very much unlike the way i generally communicate our upcoming developments, but this is one of those few times i dont want to let the cat out of the bag until its ready to be shaved.)

couple that with our impending inclusion as a base currency on the ROKOS OS for Raspberry Pi, which is presently accepted and being tested against their system (as they had not had experience with ETH-based currencies previously) [with much thanks gong out to community member, crypto4jan, for bringing SOILcoin to their attention]. this development will make cross chain interconnectivity much easier to attain, which is a definite desire for us right now, not only to be able to have a true inclusion of other cryptocurrencies on the forthcoming SOIL-Ex, rather than merely pegged subcurrencies for them, but will also enable us to begin building a community of similarily themed altcoins. (ie: renewable energy conscious, agriculturally aware currencies and projects)

our network global hashrate is very low right now, certainly, as the system adjusts to a mega-farm having mined against the system which raised the difficulty very high. thanks to the kimoto gravity well, this difficulty is decreasing as it should, and the lengthy block times of the last few days are quickly correcting themselves.

stick around, you may just see things get very interesting in the short term.

check this:

EnergyCoin is on that platform and I asked if they want to add SOIL.
They want to and I think that is great news for SOIL!
We can create Internet of Things co-creation applications!

that is INCREDIBLY interesting! i have heard of raspberry pi, but hadnt done any real research into it. having now had a good look at their website, im quite excited by this news. ill be writing OKtoshi immediately. thank you so very much for bringing SOILcoin to their attention!!

I think a nice change for SOILto get attention

thats an interesting link. i wonder if it would work for SOIL, seeing as we are cross-continental, though... with peter in europe and myself in north america..? id be unable, due to funds, to go to amsterdam, for such a pitch... although.. honestly, amsterdam is one place in europe id desperately like to visit. the only place in europe ive ever spent any time is landstuhl, germany.. and it wasnt much of a "vacation" although the nurses were cute.

2 miner on suprnova that is toooo low.

There are others mining though, either solo or on other pools.

is actually worth to mine this coin with a cpu or not actually? do we have some mining calculator fot it?

thanks

i generally only mine with GPU, via the official pool at http://45.63.4.165:5000/
im not sure if you have read much back in the thread, but im planning on initiating what im calling a "miner's equity subsidy" on the pool, so that at the end of a week, i will be splitting the pool fee 50/50 between the server costs at vultr, and dividing the remaining half equally to the miners who are spending cumulatively >51% of the time during the week (i.e. greater than 85h/w) with an average hashrate <26Mh/s (i.e. the rate youd get mining using ethminer with a single high end video card).
i have a pretty crappy card. i manage MAYBE 2Mh/s on average, but still manage to find blocks as i mine, not a LOT, maybe 4 or 5 in a day.

we havent implemented a mining calculator yet, but it *IS* one of the features that ive discussed with altsheets for phase 2 implementation of his ABEE block explorer.

wallet no sincr .........block 320.000

did you update your SOIL wallet package before that point? the new packages that take the hard fork into account at that threshold are available for download on the OP. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1176709.msg12385424#msg12385424)

SOIL on yuanbaohui.com 25 december

were you able to actually confirm and get SOIL included there? if so, massive hero cookies to you my friend. and likely a decent bounty. (laughs) i had a chance to look at the site, and while google translate makes things... interesting (DOGE="dog currency" for example) it looks like a good site, healthy volumes for BTC. SOIL marked against the yuan is also intriguing (presently .02 yuan/SOIL) but the idea of opening against that large of a market, asia, is amazing.

what would SOIL translate into in chinese? im simply curious. also, are you conversant in chinese, because itd be great to have our "white paper" (i.e.:the main page and FAQ at the website, whichis being edited right now) translated into chinese. the agricultural industry there is HUGE and would be a great benefit to begin to make inroads there. toss me a PM if youd like and we can discuss that further.

one thing, though.. getting listed on some of the exchanges that hadnt hosted ETH-offset cryptocurrencies before seemed to have issues in implementing our wallet onto their system. there was one exchange from eastern europe that had nothing but troubles before he gave up. others, of course, had it easy peasy. if they have any problems setting up SOIL on their exchange, have them contact peter ("soil") or myself either here, or they can reach me on my personal email "abvhiael@live.ca" as well.

i noticed you had also mentioned poloniex as a favoured exchange awhile back, ive written them a few times but response to tickets for currency inclusion on these exchanges isnt much of a priority for many sites. a short note to them, if you are a user there, requesting our addition, would go a long ways. most exchanges are looking for that... a community that wants to see us listed with them rather than just hearing from us.

im VERY happy with bittrex, ritchie has been a wealth of information and understanding, especially as we have been getting this fork cemented so that proper implementation of the vote results are carried thru. anyhow... thanks again!

Wow congratulations for the block explorer port, it seems really promising, i would like to know if this coin have actually some working faucet for test a little before buy it?
thanks in advance

there is our official faucet at faucet.soilcoin.xyz
its only one payout per day, .5 SOIL, but its always around.

and thanks for the development update abvhiael,  Smiley

sounds like alot of good things in process for soil.
we are a tiny, slim market now, but im sure once some things are being developed for soil, it can move fast.

(laughs) oh, we NEVER rest here at SOILcoin. both peter and i truly believe in the platform and what can be built with it. while neither Ethereum or ourselves have launched the "killer app" that will bring us WAY into the mainstream, we *DO* have some ideas that could see fruition by 2nd quarter of 2016 that will make some waves... a tiny market right now actually helps us, but naturally, we are constantly seeking further market availability and saturation... remember if you want us on YOUR favorite exchanges, write them and let THEM know what theyre missing out on (chuckles)
531  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SOIL - fair launch, environmentally conscious, community driven on: December 21, 2015, 01:45:45 PM
i want to start mining for SOIL. What is the best and most recommendable multipool for mining SOIL? Thanks!

our officially hosted SOILpool is up and running at http://45.63.4.165:5000/
use a .bat file in your folder with ethminer like the following to connect:

Code:
ethminer.exe -F 45.63.4.165:5082/miner/ADDRESS/HASRATE IN MH/S -G

for example:
ethminer.exe -F 45.63.4.165:5082/miner/0x123458237b2e362e67280160667e1bd5dabcdef/25 -G
*where 25 Mh/s = 25000KHS*

there is a 3% pool fee, 50% of which is used to help cover the VPS costs with vultr, where we are hosting the pool. we will also be implementing a "miners equity subsidy" program, where once a week, miners with a >51% connectivity and hashrate <25Mh/s over a weekly period will take an equal share in half of the pool fees, which is our VERY SMALL way of trying to help democratize the mining process for folks who are using a single video card of whatever hashspeed.

its not a PRETTY pool, but its effective and running smoothly with pretty much immediate payouts upon each round's completion.

need china market!!!

SOIL on yuanbaohui.com 25 december

china is a HUGE market, and something ive looked at way back when. something ive had difficulty in doing, the google translations of sites leaves much to be desired, as is generally the case (its worse reading scientific papers on archaeology in sweeden, though.. thats an exercise in both futility and abject silliness) if you have suggestions for particular markets, that would need personal developer attention to realize assimilation of SOIL into, let me know. id love to have a new market opened to us.

ive got a few projects going on here that're keeping me crazy busy right now... rewriting the soilcoin website to reflect where we are now rather than where we were before launch; writing ANOTHER website to serve as documentation for the decentralized exchange that *IS* live and being tested and refined right now as well as building/deploying the other contracts that will need to be integrated into the overall system to fully implement the features i want to have on it (likely mid-january when we can release that, at the earliest); helping with the testing and debugging of our smart contract toolkit application (it works with developing/deploying/interacting with solidity contracts seamlessly right now, but its still somewhat CLUNKY)... the bigger and more featured that application, the more bugs there are to squash with impunity and steel toed boots.

happy winter solstice to all!

with regards to altsheets' crowdfunding initiative for porting his ABEE block explorer platform to SOIL, he has asked me to act as escrow for those funds that have been pledged to him, releasable when he has finished porting it over. i have set up an escrow account at:
0x63f671d9fc32d310175b0b56cf900f228fc78161
and will hold on to those funds until ABEE is set up for us.

the wallet at bittrex is presently disabled again. id contacted ritchie there regarding the update package for the hard fork on block 320,000 and i assume they simply upgraded their package right away and this may have caused an issue. ive been in contact with them regarding this and hopefully the wallet will be re-enabled without much delay. i will be contacting bittrex immediately again upon teh fork so as to prevent further disruptions in market accessibiilty.
535  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SOIL - fair launch, environmentally conscious, community driven on: December 18, 2015, 11:41:27 PM
in order to hard code the 60second block time into SOIL we are going to have to hard fork the currency. we will do this on block#320000 (we are presently on block302427) so the fork should be monday or tuesday. the updated packages are available from the OP for windows and mac and the github repository has been updated as well. it seems as though it is indeed an inherent flaw in ethereum that leads the block time back to the original setting of 15seconds by default, so we're doing this the hard and permanent way.

ill fire off a message to ocminer tonite regarding the payouts at suprnova. and will continue to update here as we approach the fork. let me know if anyone has any questions. hopefully, this will be the last fork we will need to do on the system for a long time, at least until we switch over to proof of share when that sort of updated algorithm becomes available.

we've spent the evening testing it out on a testnet and it worked perfectly.

weve also been testing our contract toolkit wallet and the earliest version of our SOILhosted exchange, so watch for those developments to come online within the next couple weeks as well. lots of little pieces to work into the exchange but we've got the basic architecture built and are playing around on it right now.
536  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SOIL - fair launch, environmentally conscious, community driven on: December 18, 2015, 07:20:01 PM
If it fork - Bittrex and suprnova on it  Grin
I checked http://explorer.soilcoin.xyz/
4 SOIL reward and it takes some time for a new block so I think it is ok now

soil.suprnova.cc still pay 8soil per block

we began the halved block reward at block#263707. if you check via our block explorer (explorer.soilcoin.xyz) you will see a total minted amount of soil on block#301563 is 2261080 SOIL. this corresponds to (263707*Cool+(37,856*4) = (2,109,656)+(151424) = (2,261,080). im not sure WHY suprnova would be continuing to issues block rewards of 8SOIL when they were well aware of the change to the system, and facilitated the switchover very quickly. do the deposits from suprnova to your account reflect this? our SOIL-hosted mining pool reflects the proper payouts, and blocks i have solved using this pool have lately resulted in a reward of 3.7SOIL, as opposed to the 7.7SOIL i received prior to the parameter change.

as for the targeted block time, we did implement the change to 60 seconds thru the soft-fork when we changed the block reward. i have seen the average block time up at 35 seconds and then have seen it, as of yesterday, back down to 19 seconds. peter and i have been discussing this at length and attempting to find the reason behind this, especially when one can see the difficulty algorithm has dropped again... what will likely be necessary is to take the same course as the EXP team did when confronted with similar issue and conduct a hard fork in order to set the proper block time in stone upon a new chain. the likelihood is that this is an inherent flaw within the ethereum platform itself. we will make announcement very soon regarding what change we will have to make if indeed a hard fork is necessaery.

537  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SOIL - fair launch, environmentally conscious, community driven on: December 16, 2015, 03:07:50 AM
in other news.. with a rolling supply figure available thru our explorer, we now have a more featured expression on coinmarketcap.com, listed as #243 with a market capitalization of $10,815 USD based on our current valuation of $0.003370 USD (total supply, including reserves, of 3,209,188 SOIL) and a 7-day value change of +79.89%. keep that momentum going folks, and we will, as always, keep the developments rolling out.
538  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SOIL - fair launch, environmentally conscious, community driven on: December 16, 2015, 02:45:51 AM
a great article, which is really quite relevant and related to the SOILcoin project:
https://medium.com/@InnFin/blockchain-predictions-for-2016-238bda7d0752#.zb90h799g

i think some of the predictions are very important.... data STORAGE on the blockchain, possibly thru the use of merkle trees where the hash of the lead chunk of data is held on the blockchain, with sharded data retrievable thru the contract; or by porting something like Storj or IFPS onto the platform as a complex "smart contract" where the renting out ones unused harddrive space can be used to incentivize this, especially where we are seeing 1-2 terrabyte drives becoming more and more affordable and accessible. as smart contracts become larger, and we move towards such projects such as GIS map data storage and analysis for smart farm management, this is one of the sorts of things we will need to focus our energies on in the coming year.

Quote
There are a number of companies and groups either porting the Ethereum virtual machine to other Blockchain implementations, or creating their own alternative rich smart contract environments that extend the the Ethereum ideas.

i think the above neatly describes what we are trying to do with SOILcoin, namely "extending" the idea of Ethereum from a sandbox of unrelated DApps into something that, as is later mentioned in the article, serves "industry consortia". we have, from our genesis, envisioned the blockchain and encompassing programmatic environment as something that would provide solutions to an emerging market with massive forecasted growth potential, something that already has been migrating itself towards cloud computing and experiencing massive costs related to that. as a business model, providing the SOIL blockchain towards this, at what would be essentially 95% cheaper, it will wind up making good business sense to use our system as opposed to something subscription driven like microsoft's azure rendition of the EVM.

of course, with a lot of this, another point in the article comes into play... "data security" which we can provide in a "cryptographically secure" way, and i think the evolution of the Distributed Applications we are using and building will work themselves naturally towards that, ensuring that while the EXISTENCE of the contract on th eblockchain is public, the data therein, is only accessible by certain "subscribers"

ive stated from the beginning that we see SOIL as something so much more than JUST a speculative cryptocurrency traded on the markets, and why our low valuation isnt very bothersome right now. when buterin explained how ether wasnt a currency but a fuel for the contracts, it made a lot of sense. and of course, with low valuation, *RUNNING* those contracts on the SOIL platform will be very cost effective. i remember reading, soon after we launched, that i seemed to be disregarding the miners, that i didnt care.. which isnt the case... i view the mining and currency trade as the engine that keeps the network "vehicle" running, but ive never viewed it as the most important part. SOIL is about the smart contracts and the platform with which to deploy them on, and thats why ive encouraged you, the community, to get involved with that, to get your fingers dirty with them. a capable DApp development, deployment and interaction mechanism will be important to those ends, and is something we should have an announcement on regarding a toolkit for in the coming week, as this is essentially in the testing stage as we speak.

we need to start "recruiting businesses / clients / organizations to the network and we've been working on that, communicating with industry representatives and introducing them to the idea of the SOIL globally realized programmatic network. these things take time to filter out of cryptocurrency into the real world, as the ideas we are working with are so brand new, so disruptive and revolutionary.

the last point made in the article is something ive been talking about here and with others for awhile, the idea of cross-chain technology, and whereas my focus to start is in relation to the distributed SOIL-hosted exchange, which i continue to work on a piece at a time, its something that will enable us to scale towards communicating with other network subsets as well as other altcoins. i have had interesting conversations with other players in the cryptocurrency world regarding this and how it might be implemented, either with a intermediary blockchain or something similar to shapeshift, converting other currencies into fuel for the SOIL machine.

the challenges there have been many... not just cross-chain inter-connectedness, but in pegging tokens to the drive real world prices (for the sake of the SOIL exchange, the hard and soft commodities), and enabling the trade, on chain, between SOIL and other currencies.. whether they be similar algorithmic blockchains such as ethereum, shift and expanse... or other altcoins that "fit" into the essential message of SOIL (EnergyCoin, GAIA, EarthCoin, Greencoin, etc) as well as user-created tokens... theres a lot of working parts that need to be set in place to make it work the way i envision it, and im thinking we're a few months out from that, but we are constatntly looking for solutions to implement to take us steps towards that...

we ARE at the forefront of a pioneering technology, and we are here at the very outset of it, and for those of you who have been with us from the very beginning, or just jumping on board now, enjoy the ride. we are building something very special here, and a mere two months into our system, we are already making consistent progress towards our goals.

539  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SOIL - fair launch, environmentally conscious, community driven on: December 15, 2015, 02:27:58 PM
All the pledging and crowdfunding talk really makes this coin seem bad!

you'll notice that MANY coins have crowdfunded developments such as the block explorer. in this case, the crowdfunding was iniated by the developer of the block explorer, searching for incentive beyond what we, the development team, would pay towards implementation of such. the other crowdfunding iniative, found at https://www.btc-funding.com/campaigns/5658e2b2069f95ce56000005#/info is an endeavor to raise the capital towards swift inclusion of SOILcoin on coinpayments.net, which would speed up our retail integration. using the community fund of SOIL to create 2BTC would require nearly empying this development fund.

as the development team, we are working hard on new improvements and have been implementing these augmentations generally on a weekly basis. as we are a young currency, many of these developments are basic user-experience applications to enhance usability of the SOIL platform. the framework DApps are being created in the background that will enable the large scale applications to be deployed which will bring us steps closer to the service model we have set from our genesis.

bear in mind that we had no initial funding drive, nor have we have set up any corporate or third-party capital investments at this point, and we do not take a wage for the work we do as other altcoins do (such as the ethereum team). there are situations that for evolution of real world assimilation (retail usage implementation, etc) which require these sorts of financing. for the community, retail integration of SOIL is a leap forward to realization of positive market valuation.

personally, i see the positive responses to altsheets' personal funding drive for his block explorer development as a sign of a committed and involved community. we may have a small community FOR NOW, but we also have a vibrantly engaged community.

as a development team, peter and i remain very communicative with this society, posting regular updates and remaining very engaged with the members. there are short periods of time where real world commitments take us away from the coin, such as my silence over the last couple days due to an active search and rescue operation in my county where i act as a search director.

It works thanks. Bittrex.com wallet disabled.
Do you know other exchange like bittrex.com for soilcoin ?

we've, both, been in constant contact with bittrex regarding getting that situation fixed. im hoping itll be done soon. we dont have another exchange set up for SOIL at the moment but ive contacted several again in the last week. the exchanges arent the best at replying to emails though, which as far as im concerned is shoddy business practices, but nothing i can do about that other than write them again and again. bleutrade i was REALLY disappointed in, id been a loyal member there for almost a year and they expressed early interest in us and then just stopped replying. things like that will eventually shut down exchanges like that.

Pop into IRC freenet and join #bittrex - write to bittrex-richie or ryan there, they are almost always around.

Sorry guys, I've been out of office the last two days moving homes.  Didn't see the upgrade notice till today.  I've pulled new sources and it looks like we're back in sync with the block explorer.

Thanks,
Richie

moving is never fun, especially during the holidays. i did that last year, it was the exact opposite of fun. hope it all went well.
anyhow, many thanks for your attention to this. if we can get the wallet re-enabled, thatd be great. you guys are the best.
