522  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Is there anything wrong with my configuration? on: May 15, 2011, 11:18:48 PM
Well i'd like someone to confirm that my 6990's will run on linux if I have 3 of them before I drop all this money on it..

I can confirm that for you.

Ubuntu allows up to 8 GPUs to work on 1 board at any given time.
523  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "bitcoin is the most dangerous open source project ever created" on: May 15, 2011, 11:17:06 PM
the headline is more linkbait than anything else I imagine. take it with a pinch of salt.

Typical Calcanis for you. Don't get me wrong though. I want this guy behind us more than anybody.
524  Economy / Gambling / Re: Texas Hold'em Poker Room - NL, Limit, Potlimit tables available. on: May 15, 2011, 10:35:00 PM
Can you check the account history for user `eof`?

I thought I should have a couple BTC in there, and I am seeing nothing.

Last Thing I knew is i took 16 btc to a table and donked it off.. while there was like 18.something in the account.

If I had a dollar for every time I thought there was still some money in my online poker account... and there wasn't... I'd be playing poker.
525  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Quick Crash Course In Setting Up Mining Pool? on: May 15, 2011, 10:30:38 PM
If you're just mining solo, you can run bitcoin -server and point all your miners at your local bitcoin.

That's not why I want to setup a mining pool.

Can anybody give me a quick setup guide for setting up pushpoold? Anybody done it before?

Are there any alternatives?

@error: some form of the Bitcoin client must be running on the pool's back-end I would assume, yes.
526  Bitcoin / Mining / Quick Crash Course In Setting Up Mining Pool? on: May 15, 2011, 08:44:51 PM
I want to setup a small personal mining pool by the end of today.

Anybody care to post some quick hacks of instructions for pushpool or similar software?
527  Economy / Gambling / Re: Texas Hold'em Poker Room - NL, Limit, Potlimit tables available. on: May 15, 2011, 08:34:43 PM
I signed up... but there only seems to be 3 players online?

Sunday afternoon is pokerstars.com's busiest day....?

That, and the two players I saw playing were almost definitely bots. They were folding and betting hands within fractions of a second.

529  Economy / Marketplace / eBay Auction For 1250W OCZ PSU 80+ GOLD (ALMOST) Brand New! on: May 15, 2011, 08:23:09 PM
I figured you guys could appreciate this: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250820261532&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT

Explanation as to why I am selling is on the eBay page. Basically it works but not with the motherboard I have. Apparently one of the "question askers" via eBay has claimed that I probably just have a bad cable.

The thing powers up my motherboard, lights up the lights, but then everything hangs. That's all I know.

Oh well, I have already purchased another PSU and need to recoup the money spent on this one (about $250 CAD) so bid away!

Free shipping to anywhere in continental USA or Canada. Buyer pays actual rate for shipping to other countries.

532  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: best way to get family and friends interested? on: May 15, 2011, 06:43:08 PM
I found that telling my friends that my $50 investment has multiplied to well over $1000 in under a year turned them from "It's a scam" to "How to I buy these things again?" a rather effective approach Wink

That's another good way.

If you find any doubters. Tell them the current value, and then talk to them in another month.

Oh, and also ask them if they hate banking fees.
533  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: best way to get family and friends interested? on: May 15, 2011, 06:42:00 PM
Easy peezy.

I simply show them weusecoins.com's video to start with... http://weusecoins.com

And then I show them bitcoin.org's "reach" graph at http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/bitcoin.org and explain that not many websites fizzle off after they begin to look like that.

535  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: New swedish bitcoin pool: Swepool! on: May 15, 2011, 06:38:44 PM
Will payouts occur right after each found block, after a certain number (which?) of conformations, or…?

Cheers,
Payout will occur after 120 confirmations.
If you switch from no-ip I'd be more than glad to join the pool Smiley
C'mon, a .net domain costs ~$10 (70SEK) a year. Invest! Wink
New address is now www.swepool.net/index-en.

Or setup a .bit domain?! Tongue

Can I ask, what software did you use to create this pool? PushPool?
536  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: easy protection from a trojan attack on: May 15, 2011, 09:37:11 AM
this only works if the drive is not mounted when the trojan is active. so it's pretty much useless.

I mounted my drive without an active trojan. Now I have to pay child support.

I'd click [lol]+1. Cheesy

WTH happened to that applaud/smite system anyways!?!?
537  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Daily Bitcoin Demographics -2- How old are you? on: May 15, 2011, 09:36:29 AM
My sentiment is that the entire bitcoin community is quite young.

It try to explain this to my parents, and they just smile and nod. As do all of my friend's parents.
538  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Donate to dot-bit project on: May 15, 2011, 09:35:42 AM
Quick question khal.

Are you and vinced partners or is this a separate project or what's the deal with dot-bit!? Has vinced even acknowledged the name or does he need to?

As I have said before: I get a small sense of satisfaction every time I see a western union now in thinking "your yellow sign wont be lit for long".
