Don't listen to the people spreading FUD about the Firefly labs Mk1. They're just haters who missed out on the pre-order window!

527  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][YAC] yacoin: yet another altcoin. START is now. on: May 12, 2013, 08:30:29 PM
Now that we're crossing the threshold where difficulty is high enough to warrant shutting down Xeon-based servers, even at very low power prices ($0.065/kWh over here), I believe the cat is probably out of the bag regarding whether GPU mining of Yacoin is occurring.  Just examine the current difficulty and block rates, and work out what the hash rate is even after power prices start swamping even high-power-efficiency Xeon servers.  Sure, there's going to be some small amount of people who have free power (as in, "free to them"), but I doubt it accounts for anywhere close to the apparent network hash rate at the present time.

After GPU mining becomes economic, I'd like to call for everyone that experimented with scrypt+chacha/kekkac modifications to cgminer to post their modified source.  I doubt it'll be useful for any more alt-coin copypasta launches in the future.  Just like what happened when Amazon become uneconomic to mine with and everyone started posting details in this thread about their Amazon-hosted server farms, it would be even far more interesting (at least to me) to see what everyone's approaches to implementing scrypt+chacha/kekkac in OpenCL was.  As has been pointed out, it's not a trivial copy'n'paste.  But it's also not catastrophically difficult for anyone with decent amounts of OpenCL experience.

Anyone willing to post GPU hash rates for Yacoin at least, prior to it becoming uneconomic?  That should at least dispell the myth that N=32 somehow made CPU's faster than GPU's for mining YAC.  N=64 in another couple days isn't going to change the GPU vs. CPU performance ratio all that much, and as Taco pointed out earlier, GPU's are still going to have the edge at N>1024.

Botnet operators don't care about electricity costs.

530  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ZeroCoin Whitepaper Discussion (is it the first truly innovative ALT coin????) on: May 12, 2013, 05:56:24 AM
And if everything accepted bitcoins and nobody paid taxes, how would you pay the state to provide services like: police, emergency services, infrastructure, public services, public buildings, etc?

And jails, to hold scum like limitless. Wink
531  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Aahzman .He's a SCAMMER! on: May 12, 2013, 05:39:19 AM
It is likely that the hacker is controlling more accounts, not just Aahzman's account. Be EXTREMELY cautious who you trade with until the mods address this issue.
532  Other / Off-topic / Re: Talk to limitless. on: May 12, 2013, 05:31:16 AM
I hope someone figures out your real identity and posts your name and address on the web Angry. It happened to a scamming twerp last month and they called his mother. He ended up returning the bitcoins he stole and was humiliated on the forum where he got exposed (Not this one Wink).
533  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Aahzman .He's a SCAMMER! on: May 12, 2013, 05:21:48 AM
I knew one day that being too trusting would get me. Aahzman is indeed a scammer. 30K YAC loss for me. I Guess he wasn't someone trusted like Cyberdyne, blastbob, xorxor or zulzedd Where I could send massive amounts first. Out 30k YAC. Oh well.

It's not him, his account has been hacked.

Edit: Sorry for your loss.
534  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Aahzman - Beware !!! on: May 12, 2013, 05:15:12 AM
If you want the mods to see this thread you should move it to the scam accusations sub-forum: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0  Wink

535  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: YAC will be on BTC-E confirmed. on: May 12, 2013, 05:12:00 AM
He was reported as scammer in numerous posts in docs sheets recently, I take that in my book and stop really caring about it after. There are moderators who are in charge for tagging him with scammer marks, I have enough things to care about..

You had loads of chances to go after him but you went after him in the middle of yac fud and in post that was dealing with him apparently spreading the virus (never proved) posting links to that thread all over yac related threads so don't really expect me to buy your humble intentions, I've seen enough from you to judge you on my own and I'm not really bad in that.

I went after him as soon as I put the dots together (Saw some threads reporting him as a scammer and then I noticed that he started a thread for a YAC miner). It was you who had loads of chances to go after him but as you say in your post, you don't care if people get scammed and it's the mods job to go after scammers. Some community this is, people won't even watch other people's backs from scammers Sad
536  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: YAC will be on BTC-E confirmed. on: May 12, 2013, 04:55:55 AM
kooke why are you trying to defame yacoin?

Ask the YACers who were on this morning insulting me when I exposed one of their scammers: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=202292.0

They deleted or changed their posts defending him once he got banned. Before that, I had never mentioned YAC before.

Nobody defended him but I called you and anyone else dumb who were using virustotal results as a proof that the miner he posted is virus. And I stand with that. Reports about him scamming people were floating around for days but nobody ever proved that link he posted is virus and I proved to all of you that original pooler's miner has 33/45 on virus total.

Your purpose of attacking him was not because he is scammer but to talk negativity about coin itself. You just used him as medium for that purpose as him being stupid idiot was a great chance. There's no him now and yet you're jumping from one coin to another coin thread and talk negativity all the time. Hopefully you're not like that in real life, it would be really boring to live around you.

Limitless would likely still be here scamming people had I not done what I did. My purpose of attacking him was precisely because he was a scammer. How come none of you said anything if you heard reports of him being a scammer? Why would you accept a reported scammer to be at the forefront of YAC? (He was running the YAC faucet and even offered to be in charge of the YAC bounty money)

Don't try and say you had no opportunity to tell that POS scammer to get lost and report him, you were all nice and fuzzy with your 'pal' limitless here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=200311.msg2093577#msg2093577
537  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Aahzman .He's a SCAMMER! on: May 12, 2013, 04:48:06 AM
Move the thread to the scam accusations section: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0

The mods won't see it here Wink
538  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Buying YAC] WTB YaCoin - Paying 0.002 per YAC on: May 12, 2013, 04:44:33 AM
Just had a look at Aahzman's profile and he wasn't posting from April 29 to May 9. The real Aahzman probably had his account hacked by this scammer. Aahzman, your behaviour is highly suspicious and foolish if I may say so. I suggest you contact a mod if you're innocent to clear this up.

Well, the 5 red X's look pretty damn nice to me.

The only bad thing is that people won't trust me doing trades with them anymore Sad

Has your new scammer account gotten out of newbie jail yet?
