Как я понял, токенов продано уже на 800 000 долларов. Не плохо для начала пресейла. Учитывая, что сам пресейл длиться месяц, должны собрать полную суму. Хотя само Ico начнется в 2018 году и тоже будет длиться месяц.

524  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-10-28] Bitcoin Helped This Australian Pay off His House Mortgage on: October 28, 2017, 05:31:07 PM
A businessman has paid off his house mortgage through his bitcoin investments and is now using his profits to fund the development of a new home.

Michael Sloggett, based in Townsville, a coastal city in northeastern Queensland, Australia, initially started trading in bitcoin five years ago in order to purchase overseas supplements for his store Second to None Nutrition. He did this to avoid the slow settlement times and the high fees between banks.

It wasn’t until the start of 2017 that he decided to begin investing in the currency. Such a move has proven to be quite profitable to him. At the time bitcoin was trading around AU$1,100 before eventually soaring to AU$7,700, reports the Townsville Bulletin.

He said:

" We paid off the mortgage and bought a block of land at Townsville out of the profits. We are now building a new home."

In addition to running his nutrition business he also runs My Bitcoin Academy. This he launched five months ago to teach people how to invest in the cryptocurrency. So far he’s helped around 2,500 people. He also runs a Facebook site called Crypto Calls Australia.

As a result of his investment in the digital currency and the profits garnered from it, Sloggett now has five stores: two in Townsville, one in Mount Isa, one in Bundaberg and one in Sydney.

This news comes at a time when many critics are claiming that bitcoin is a bubble about be burst.

Jamie Dimon, JPMorgan Chase CEO, is notable for taking a shot at the currency when he called it ‘a fraud‘ last month. Whereas, Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal believes that bitcoin is ‘going to implode‘ due to a lack of regulatory supervision.

Yet, while Sloggett states that people should conduct ‘due diligence’ first before giving their money away, he claims that he holds much of his wealth in the digital currency.

525  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-10-28] Law Firms Are Opening Bitcoin Wallets to Prepare for Data Breaches on: October 28, 2017, 05:28:10 PM
Rather than waiting until it’s too late, law firms are opening up bitcoin wallets to pay ransoms in case their data is stolen, according to a cybersecurity expert.

John Sweeney, president of IT and cybersecurity advisors LogicForce, said that law firms are taking proactive steps rather than reactive steps. However, while he doesn’t necessarily agree with paying ransoms, he said that it ‘makes sense’ to be prepared, reports Business Insider.

This year has seen several data breaches where hackers have demanded ransoms to be paid in bitcoin. At the beginning of the year, an Austrian hotel was ordered to pay a bitcoin ransom to regain access to its rooms; in May, Disney’s Pirates film was held for ransom by hackers; and in June a South Korean firm paid a $1 million bitcoin ransom in order to retrieve its data.

Unsurprisingly, the Financial Supervisory Service of South Korea has told local banks not to cave into threats by DDoS attackers, following the million-dollar ransom paid by the South Korean firm.

Yet, while countless individuals have paid ransom demands to hackers to regain access to their files that’s not always the case. One example is the NotPetya hack, which occurred this summer. Even though victims paid the ransom, it was reported that they were unlikely to have received the decryption keys to access their files.

Sweeney believes, though, that firms must do more to protect themselves. According to him, the chances of the hacker being caught is slim and the probability of them being prosecuted is even smaller.

He said:

"We are predicting there are going to be more sophisticated attempts to intrude at firms that work with highly visible clients whose IP or business information is extremely valuable."

LogicForce is reportedly going to be opening up its own bitcoin account in the next few weeks in order to assist with client ‘disaster recovery.’

526  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-10-28] Putin Approves Framework for ICO, Cryptocurrency Regulation on: October 28, 2017, 05:25:05 PM
Russian President Vladimir Putin has personally approved a timeline for a framework that will regulate initial coin offerings (ICO) and cryptocurrency mining operations.

Putin Orders Parliament to Regulate ICOs

According to official Kremlin documents published this week, Putin signed several orders intended to regulate cryptocurrency usage within the country. Most notably, the orders mandated that Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and central bank chief Elvira Nabiullina must draft regulations that bring ICOs in line with existing laws governing securities.

Medvedev is also tasked with two more significant responsibilities. One order instructs him to implement regulations that will require Russian cryptocurrency mining operations to register with the government and determine the appropriate procedure for the government to tax income garnered from those operations. Another requires him to determine the legal status of cryptocurrencies used within the financial sphere “based on the obligation of the ruble as the only legal tender in the Russian Federation”. All of these tasks must be completed by July 1, 2018.

Finally, the government plans to establish a regulatory sandbox that will allow the central bank consider additional regulations for cryptocurrencies and other fintech products, as well as draft proposals for a  “single payment space” created for the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

As always Vit is right. Fortunately most of the ico`s will not bring real value to their investors. It is very difficult today to weed out the good from the fade, but we must do our own due diligence, nobody will care about your money, only you.
528  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-10-27] Kansas Gov. Commission Forbids Bitcoin Donations To Politicians on: October 27, 2017, 05:09:41 PM
Kansas Governmental Ethics Commission Forbids Bitcoin Campaign Donations To Politicians

Kansas Governmental Ethics Commission (GEC) enforces campaign financing laws in the state. After a local politician asked the GEC for guidance on the issue last week, its new Executive Director announced that bitcoin is “too secretive” to permit Kansas office holders, potential and incumbent, to accept the world’s most popular cryptocurrency.

Bitcoin Not in Kansas Anymore

Peter Hancock of Lawrence Journal-World reports “the digital currency known as [bitcoin is] simply too secretive and untraceable to be allowed as a form of campaign contributions in [Kansas’] state and local elections.”

The state’s new GEC Executive Director Mark Skoglund “received a request from a candidate who wanted to know whether it was legal to accept campaign contributions in bitcoins,” Mr. Hancock writes. In turn, Mr. Skoglund, who would not name the candidate, asked the GEC for guidance.

Director Skoglund explains bitcoin is “just alphanumeric characters that exist only online. It is not backed by any government.”

GEC Commissioner Jerome Hellmer fears with bitcoin donations “would be the strong probability of the influencing of local elections by totally unidentifiable lobbyists.” Mr. Hellmer explains, “If you think the Russians affected the presidential elections, just wait.”

Maybe Warren is right, Bitcoin can be a bubble, but it helps to build new financial system for new generations. It already helps a lot of young entrepreneurs get rich, they are free from hard work 9 to 5, and are able to put their mind and ideas in something important projects for humanity, like Elon Musk did.

Head of Kazakhstan national bank does not fully understand what the cryptocurrencies is, but he wants to restrict is. He said people can make money on speculative transactions. That is bad things on his opinion. But this speculation exists all the time, hundreds of years by bankers and merchants, rich people can do this, and ordinary people cannot?

That is the reason why i uninstall most of plugins from firefox and chrome. You never know if they can track your ethereum or bitcoin adress. You cannot be 100% shure if firefox or chrome itself collect your personal data. Maybe it`s better to use Thor browser for myetherwallet site, and forget about all that popular programs, that can be infected very easily.

533  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-10-27] Paypal Co-Founder Says Bitcoin is Underestimated, Compares to Gold on: October 27, 2017, 05:19:16 AM
Billionaire venture capitalist and PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel has been a long time proponent of Bitcoin. At the Future Investment Initiative in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Thiel once again reiterated the potential of Bitcoin, stating that people are underestimating it.

Long time Bitcoin supporter

Peter Thiel has long been one of the early proponents of Bitcoin. As early as 2013, he stated that Bitcoin has the potential to change the world. As one of the co-founders of PayPal, he recognized the ability of Bitcoin to revolutionize the monetary space. He had long held the view that monetary sovereignty’s time is limited and encrypted money would be the future. In a speech at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business, he stated that unlike PayPal, Bitcoin had actually succeeded in creating a currency.

Digital gold

Peter Thiel believes that Bitcoin could be digital gold and take its place as a reserve currency. He compared many of the features of Bitcoin to gold, like its limited supply and that it is mineable.

"It's like a reserve form of money, it's like gold and it's just a store of value. If Bitcoin ends up being the cyber equivalent of gold, it has a great potential left."

However, Peter wasn't as enthusiastic about other cryptocurrencies. That should be discouraging for altcoin enthusiasts who have ridden the altcoin boom for most part of the year.

Is the prince listening?

While Peter Thiel is pretty bullish on the potential of Bitcoin, in Riyadh, a certain Saudi prince has a different view. Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, the richest Arab in the world, believes that Bitcoin will implode like Enron. While Bitcoin trading is allowed in Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority has warned people about the risks of investing in Bitcoin. The Middle East is a region teeming with billionaires and if Peter Thiel has managed to convince a few people to invest their oil-dollars in Bitcoin, the price of Bitcoin could receive a boost.

536  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-10-26] Segwit2x Developer Says November Hard Fork is Full Steam Ahead on: October 27, 2017, 04:26:57 AM
The Segwit2x working group has been quiet lately, but now it seems the development wheels are turning once again. On Wednesday, October 25 the lead developer of the Segwit2x (BTC1) working group, Jeff Garzik, addressed the public with a status update. According to Garzik, everything is “still full steam ahead for Segwit2x upgrade” scheduled for mid-November.

Segwit2x Upgrade is “Full Steam Ahead”

The maintainer of the Segwit2x code, Jeff Garzik has revealed an October “status update” to the development community through the Linux mailing list. The last time Garzik greeted the public was back in August when the Segregated Witness (Segwit) protocol was applied to the Bitcoin network. Like the previous time, Garzik’s email seems upbeat and cuts to the formalities right away with the developer stating:

"To state the obvious, everything is still full steam ahead for the Segwit2x upgrade in mid-November."

I do not understand why to carry out second token sale circle. Price for current token supply still below the ICO level, developers should focus on rolling out real project things. We are all in anticipation and await of something substantial that can push up price.

Hello ivanpoldark, that's what I said. Nobody hurry with the second Token Sale.
That was preliminarily said in thу roadmap update and was confirmed by Liam during AMA, as he said:
Honestly, nothing has been confirmed yet. The reason for this is that the tokens are locked in the smart contract until the time period of the second sale anyway (Q2 2018)
https://medium.com/@OAX_Foundation/oax-development-ama-1-transcript-a02a173ccd8b
Yes, agree to you, a lot of depends on real project things.
I hope we'll see the first results in nearest months, and the working prototype in Q2, 18 as stated in the Milestones.

Thank you for your answer, it`s very important when you say or ask something and get a quick response with information injection. I hope the team is really working, looks like Honk Kong now turns into blockchain Mecca, the cradle of such disruptive project as OAX, GatCoin, and others.
