If the only thing you don't like about the new logo is the shape, then submit a new one? As long as it's the same colours and logo as the winner of the vote, then I will consider it. There is more elegant solution. I'll remove all my YACoin-related posts and myself from this whole YACoin debate and community. Bye! New logo is way too generic and trendy, and now practically replicated and to be used with another altcoin
I respect your opinion, so..... come up with something better? No offense to whoever created the yak_giving_birth logo, but to me it looks like it was done by an eight year old.. The new logo might be a similar layout to others, but if was done by a professional and looks as much. Also, the yak logo never won a vote, it was just what those who run yacoin.org decided they like the best. No matter what, there's this-> “You can please some of the people some of the time all of the people some of the time some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time.” |

Is it a good idea to send all my coins to a new address to start POS minting?
I switched to Ubuntu now, and I have my old .dat file and also can dual boot win, so I was thinking of doing that.
If you send them to a new address, the POS mining date starts over - I would just use the old wallet. I thought the small transactions would be worse, since I mined most of the coins, then bought some more. How can I import my wallet dat? Just copy and place it inside the yacoin folder in my home directory? If you've already compiled YACoin in Ubuntu, then replace the wallet.dat in .yacoin That's a hidden folder, so you will need to show hidden folder in whatever file manager you have. If you haven't compiled yet, just create a .yacoin folder in home and copy your wallet.dat there. Then compile. |

This is a testing release that contains coin control, the icons and images, and many other updates and will likely be the next stable release soon. So, test it out if able.

I did see this happen a few times in my wallet - where several small transactions merged through a POS block and ended ~11 YAC in size. I did have a POS that didn't again recently. http://yacexplorer.tk/tx/996917e79b248e35cb4c5f98df7e7cda6a5bd1caf1dcb908e2f871fe51681dbf#i0I'm not sure why sometimes it will merge small transactions, and other times it doesn't. As you can see from the link above, when it doesn't merge with another transaction, any profit is lost. IMHO that's a rounding "error". The minimum PoS reward is 0.01 YAC (at least I think it is) and if your reward is below that, you get nothing. Are you sure you had multiple sufficiently small inputs on a single address (beware of change addresses!) when you minted that block? EDIT: BTW, is the new logo already added in the official repo? If not, can someone please make those so I can build a new wallet with all the bells and whistles not yet included in joe's repo? Need 16x16, 32x32, 48x48, 80x80, 128x128, 256x256 px PNG logo and 48x48 ICO icon. EDIT2: Found most of the images on github, just need the 256x256 px PNG. Also, fuck... I'm having troubles mining PoS blocks. In last few days, I've used both CC and classic YACoin versions (including yacoind daemon) but no PoS blocks were mined. I'm PoS mining occassionaly, in few hours sessions, and there are plenty of inputs older than 30 days. Compared to previous PoS mining session times, at least few blocks should be mined by now. Another odd thing is that CPU usage is almost constantly at 50% which is much higher than it used to be with PoS mining previously. On YACoin explorer, I have noticed less PoS blocks than one month ago but due to PoS reward splitting there should be more PoS blocks, or it is others having PoS issues and / or not PoS mining? What are prerequisites for PoS mining on WinXP? What OS services or add-ons YACoin uses? I have reinstalled OS recently and went for "minimized" WinXP created with nLite, everything works fine except now YACoin PoS mining is acting strange. It should be completely self-contained (and if something was missing it'll let you know and wouldn't start at all). The PoS mining is completely random just as PoW mining (it's the same process - hashing a block header until the hash is lower than the difficulty target). The increased CPU usage can have other causes, like validation of new blocks or coinstakes (coinstakes take much longer to validate IIRC). The PoS reward splitting is not an issue (it also joins multiple small inputs into one large output - this already happended at least once, so I'm sure it works). 1st PoS session, over 2 months ago = all coins were on 1 address and 1 input, it took few hours to generate stake 2nd PoS session, over 1 month ago = coins were on 5 addresses and like 100 inputs, it took 2 weeks to generate stakes (1 block every few hours) 3rd PoS session, started 5 days ago = coins are on 10 addresses and like 1000 inputs (all over 10 YAC), no stake generated yet As soon as I unlock wallet, CPU usage goes to around 50% and client starts reacting slowly. Few hours later client is almost not responding and walletlock command (as a way to stop PoS mining) takes like 30 seconds to execute with yacoind (with GUI client I need to terminate process). The vote was completed and a majority voiced their opinion. For solidarity reasons, it would make sense for the explorer and website to use the new logos and name, but either way, let's move on to things that matter WAY more than the logo and name/slogan, such as: Moving over to LevelDB so that it doesn't take 20 minutes for the client to start. If you're able to code, submit some pull requests. There is much that still has to be done. sairon - since you're the only one that currently contributes code, we should coordinate our efforts so that we're not working on the same things at the same time. For those that want to help out, but are not programmers, help out by positively promoting YACoin in a way that you're able. |

Yes! So... when is the www.yacoin.org going to change to the new logo? How about the client? Does anyone even know if the site is still under ownership of someone who is involved with YACoin Community? I had read somewhere that the person or group had abandoned it, is that true? I believe that Sahtor is still involved with the site and may be able to change the logo. The logo has been added to beta testing https://github.com/yacoin/yacoin/releases/tag/testing_0.4.1-b which will be the next stable client. |

You said 10 copies max for the beta and see how it goes but I don't think you can prevent any of the 10 winners of this auction share/sell as many copies they want . Do you think that inserting their priv key into the code for each winner is enough to prevent the "unauthorised use" by others smart enough to code some lines?
This is no way to prevent unauthorised use. It's not a problem of C.A.T., is a problem of each software in the world  Anyone "smart enough" should realize that each new client will dilute individual potential profit. Unless the auction goes to an obnoxious amount, it will likely not be worth it to sell *your copy. |

I'll try making some code tweaks to show this in GUI.
Hmm... The best I seem to come up with is adding an RPC call to determine if PoS miner thread was started. Dunno how to interact with the Qt gui from the bitcoind code (not a GUI coder). Signals and slots sairon... signals and slots I will try to find some time to do this before the next release. |
