521  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buy more bitcoin or wait for August 1st? on: June 26, 2017, 05:00:56 AM
You have nothing to worry about actually. That August 1 date is not the end of the world; neither for man nor for bitcoin. So if you want to buy, buy anytime you want, regardless of that August 1 schedule. That does not matter at all. If you want to invest in bitcoin in a long-term basis, you go ahead now. If your plan is to invest in it, hold it for a short period of time, and then sell it when its pricey already, you can still buy right now. That August 1 schedule will actually fix bitcoin-related problems rather than cause some more. Feel comfortable and easy.
522  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's going on? Bitcoin for the rich only? on: June 26, 2017, 04:53:52 AM
Yes, bitcoin has become a mode of payment among rich peers. The rest are suffering from incredibly expensive transaction fees. I hope they will fix this problem because a lot are leaving bitcoin as a form of payment, transferring to other alternate cryptos that require them to pay much lesser fees. This is aside from the confirmation time problem that a lot are also complaining about. Hopefully, the August 1 date that they give will all put these problem to an end.
523  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin make Banks disappear? on: June 25, 2017, 12:32:37 PM
I'm sure one days bitcoin will make banks disappear and take over the function of fiat money.

Wow! Really huh?
How come is that? Even though bitcoin is popular today and widely use in the internet world its not enough to say that.
Some banks run by the private sector some are by government, do you think they let that happen?
Just a like a bubble that disappear? Of course they dont. Banks are well establish enough to maintain its financial status.
Think twice.

Absolutely! Bitcoin cannot just simply pop the bank balloon just like that. In fact, insofar as this particular phase is concerned, bitcoin is really a no match for banks. Banks have been here for a long while already, much established, much trusted, much services are also offered, etc. Bitcoin, on the other hand, is just beginning to walk. They cannot threaten the banks enormously. Although it has already got their attention.
524  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What to do with the people who don't like Bitcoin? on: June 25, 2017, 12:25:49 PM
Explain to them as patiently and properly the basics of bitcoin in such a way that they will learn to appreciate it. Make it a little simple that somebody whose knowledge about it is utterly zero will understand. In that way, their minds will slowly open up. Remember, bitcoin topic is not as easy to understand as we may think. Better yet, show them where bitcoin has brought you. Perhaps their interest will double up.  Cheesy
525  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO 19 JULY] AVENTUS - ANTIFRAUD ANTI-SCALPING EVENT TICKETING ON ETHEREUM on: June 23, 2017, 07:15:51 AM
The developers behind this amazing project is indeed hardworking. Aventus devs always make sure that we are updated in every step of the way. Just look at how they post updates on time, answer queries and many concerns almost in no time at all. I mean, how can one doubt the legitimacy of this project? Everything's pretty much clear and smooth.  Cool

Many thanks for this new update. Great job to all the people behind this great project. However, I share the same confusions posted above. I hope those will be clarified as soon as possible for us not to be misled.
527  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Aventus - Event Ticketing Antifraud Solution on: June 22, 2017, 02:16:14 PM
I think the social bounty prize is too small for only 0.5%.
You should separate bounty for bugs with social bounty.

Fair enough. However, it means that for e.g. the Twitter campaign each user will receive around £100 for something like 50 retweets/likes. That's quite a lot for the task.

Either way, we will be adding more AVT to the social bounty. Stay tuned! Announcements coming soon Smiley.

That is good to hear from you.  Cheesy I am eagerly waiting for the next announcement, which is hopefully bringing some good mouth-watering news.  Grin I sincerely believe that everything's fair and square nevertheless. That twitter campaign you mentioned, for example, is already paying more than enough considering that 50 retweets and likes are no-brainer tasks. My support sticks with you devs, till the end!
528  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin transaction fees fair? on: June 21, 2017, 01:19:49 PM
Everyone wanted higher bitcoin price and we achieved this but another problem become transaction fees. When bitcoin's price was low, we had to pay also low fee and now when it rised, we have to pay high fee in bitcoins and plus that high fee is more higher with current price. Is this fair? The higher the price, the more money miners have with bitcoin exchange.
To my mind when price becomes high, we have to pay low fee and when it becomes low, than fee has to be high. To my mind it had to be done like this from the begining.

I agree with your logic, mate.

When the price is high, transaction fees should be low, because the value is high. It is logical indeed. When the price is low, one needs to increase the transaction fee because the value of what is being paid amounts to a little equivalent. However, what is happening right now seems to be the other way around.

That is why when the price of bitcoin rises, we will all be feeling both happy and sad at the same time. Happy because the value of what we have increase but sad because when we use it to buy something the transaction fee is also huge. It becomes impractical therefore to buy some small stuff with bitcoin. It is not worth it because of the fees, high fees, incredibly high fees.
529  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you keep your bitcoins? on: June 21, 2017, 01:10:26 PM
We have the same way of storing bitcoins--in a trading site. Poloniex and bitterex for mine. I guess it is because we are holding a small amount of it. It is actually doing some movements though, some are traded with some other cryptocurrencies. For now, the larger portion will be in a buy and sell movement. And a little portion is being held for a while, waiting for the right time and price to be sold.

But when storing a huge amount of bitcoin, perhaps the suggestions of most people here which is to use an offline wallet sounds great.
530  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are You Holding On To Your Bitcoin? on: June 21, 2017, 09:18:57 AM
Yes. Hold Hold Hold is the current mantra.

The central bank of the Philippines is already acknowledging it. Japan is also accepting it. Just recently, India had also opened its welcoming doors for bitcoin. In July, it would be Australia's turn to recognize bitcoin. These 3 countries legally opening up for bitcoin is just the start. Soon, others will follow suit.

So, hold on to your bitcoin. It's value is still rising.
531  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much risk in bitcoin investement ? on: June 21, 2017, 08:47:59 AM
I just wanted to know that, what amount of risk is there in investing in bitcoins.
Right now i am planning to buy btc approx 3-4 btc and just hold them as i guess the price of bitcoin will increase in future and i will get some good profit. But i want to know what is the risk involved. Can bitcoin price decrease and is this right time to buy the bitcoin.

There is no certainty, my friend. But I guess the future of bitcoin is bright. There is really no threat to its increasing value. There are fluctuations along the way but the general trend is upward. However, there is still a considerable risk involved as we really cannot tell what happens to bitcoin several years from now. I think the best thing to do is not to put all your savings into it. 3-5 btc is already a significant amount. Also, you may try some other cryptos. Etherium is also fast rising.
532  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hotels accepting bitcoin on: June 21, 2017, 03:45:48 AM
This is good news, definitely another step forward for bitcoin.

I am sure, if it goes well, other chains of hotel will follow the example. I hope this will be replicated no just to the rest of the states in the US but also in other countries.

Little by little, establishments are accepting bitcoin as payment. The future is bright for this technology. Soon, even grocery stores will accept bitcoin as payment. Will wait for that day to come.
533  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Evolution is a hoax on: June 21, 2017, 03:24:05 AM
I was kind of amazed by the exchange of ideas here.

Well, for me, evolution remains to be a theory, yes, just that, a theory, until now. I don't know how Charles Darwin became a celebrity scientist right after he theorized that what we are now are different centuries and centuries ago. Perhaps because his idea was sort of radically new? The discovery actually caused a bandwagon mentality among a lot people. The entire world was stirred by his claim. Established religion was terribly shaken to its core. School curricula are challenged. The people's comfort zone was rendered uncomfortable.

534  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crime funded by bitcoin on: June 21, 2017, 02:49:11 AM
It just so happened that bitcoin is also used in funding some illegal transactions, paid to people who commit crimes. But it is also the case of the rest of the fiat currencies that we know. Crimes are everywhere, paid in all forms. It is not the money that is to be blamed. Money is there as a neutral invention. It can also be used for good things. Bitcoin is the same.
535  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitCoin for Retirement on: June 21, 2017, 02:20:09 AM
That is a good initiative to set aside at least 1 bitcoin for your retirement. But be careful also. You will have to keep track of its price fluctuations because everything's possible. We all want bitcoin's value to regularly go up high but we cannot be 100% certain of in the future. There are also several other cryptos that you might want to invest in. A lot of them are also promising, having very high appreciation. Of course, having a business is also a great thing for you future retirement.
536  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you save bitcoin for fun or for future purpose? on: June 20, 2017, 11:19:24 AM
I save bitcoin for everything there is to come.  Cheesy Cheesy

I'm saving bitcoin because I am optimistic that its value will still increase in the future. It is for fun like buying some future gadgets, traveling, vacation, and so on. It is also for my necessities as well. Bitcoin, for me, has a very bright future because it is still growing. It has not yet reached its peak. It is actually a very good investment. If one saves in time deposit in the banks, the interest that will be earned is much smaller as compared to the price increase of bitcoin in the future. But of course it depends on how much bitcoin or money is involved.
537  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you believe in god? on: June 20, 2017, 10:49:59 AM
Yes, I do. But it's all about faith, a leap of faith. If I try to reason out why I believe in the particular god that I believe now, it is because I grew up with a family that taught me to believe the same god. And I did learn to with all my heart.

Scientifically, I also do. Even the great Albert Einstein believe in a god. But it is not a religious god. It is a god of harmony. When you look around you, you would be amazed at how orderly the world is, how minute the details are to cause life, for example. Such observation would make you stunned in awe at it. So that you would believe that there must be some kind of a god to cause all these.
538  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you hate muslems? on: June 20, 2017, 02:27:57 AM
I don't necessarily hate moslems. I have several moslem friends considering that I am living in an island where moslems abound, and where the Islamic City of Marawi belongs. But there is really something in them that tends to put a gap between them and other people with different religions. As with the rest of the religions, it seems to me that they could co-exist together peacefully. I don't know with these moslem friends of ours why they seem to be aloof with people coming from other religions. Perhaps there is some kind of implication in their teachings to really hate people coming from other religions.
539  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BItcoin needs to die on: June 20, 2017, 01:54:32 AM
What use is Bitcoin if in 9 years you cant even buy groceries with this shit

You cant build a business on bitcoin because of the volatility and even if you try to runa business on bitcoin you have to wait forever for a transaction to be sent

whats the point of bitcoin, if you cant do anything with this shit?

Perhaps when the person or people behind Satoshi Nakamoto invented a decentralized monetary technology, he or they envisioned the invention to be used for day to day stuff like groceries. So far, the invention which is bitcoin looks successful and promising in the future, however it is not as easy you might think for bitcoin to simply put the current fiat monetary system old and obsolete. As a matter of fact, bitcoin is still fighting a great battle for its place under the sun. However, due to its features such as absolute anonymity for transactions, it became a great mode of payment underground. But it's not what it is made for, I believe. When the time comes for bitcoin and its use to be as ubiquitous as a particular fiat currency then perhaps grocery stores would accept bitcoin as payment. We're going there definitely. Help spread the good news which is bitcoin.
540  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What were your experiences with Bitcoin when you first started? on: June 19, 2017, 11:42:11 AM
Although I already stumbled upon the word several times before, I never devoted a single minute to actually get to know it. It was only late 2015 when I got introduced to it properly. My workmates are into it, earning and trading in particular. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are more often than not ways to make some more money. It was here in bitcointalk.org that my rudimentary knowledge of this new technology was developed and honed. I am still in the process of learning some more though. Campaigns also provide me some other alts.
