There's alway some sad feeling going with newbies in any community, including this forum.

Firstly, newbies do not understand all neccesary regulations, thus may easily get hurt when their posts are deleted due to not conforming to rules.

I like to welcome newbies, but seriously.... Can you not think of a quick solution to not knowing the rules? Hint: There are pinned post in which these are written.

Throughout my experience, i came across a lot of ICO scams. Wouldn't it be great if we can find a way to fix this? Apart from doing due diligence & research on your own, is there any other way to invent some kind of safety features for the ICO dilemma? Let's share our thoughts & idea here...something that's realistic perhaps?

you can't. do you homework... and if the guys don't answer all questions of all analyst remember it's a big RED FLAG !!!!
i came across this https://www.acoplatform.com
could you please take a look & tell me your thoughts?

I don't know this one and it would take a while to do a proper research. Sorry.

One initiative I am very happy with is the "Inverted KYC". IcoBench asks members of the ICOs team´s to prove identity and possibly a bit of the background and makes an special mention of those who pass this requisite.

I see, that's a good step towards due diligence. Only IcoBench is doing this? how about others?

Only this one that I know. Some investment syndicates are also guaranteeing their investor that the due diligence are properly done as an Incentive.
what kind of investment syndicates? please share.

Typically discount buy groups such as Bank to the Future (which I don't like) and some investment funds that sometimes disclose their research to members, such as Astronaut (formerly Picolo Research). I am sure there are others that have the time and resources to do a true Due Diligence.

Ok, so posts on ANN threads, of which I am currently moderating and updating do not count. Ivory and Serious do not count. I am ok with that, in fact I am asking this out of curiosity because I do not care at all about my post count for practical purposes.

But, the "trash thread" thing is a bit more intriguing. How do I know for certain, apart for my own judgment, that a thread is considered trash.
Posts in ANN threads do count if I am not mistaken.

And about judging a thread whether it is thrash or not, here are some outright examples of sort:

- Thread started in spam boards(bitcoin discussion, economics, speculation, trading discussion, and altcoin boards) and the thread is absolutely worthless with no legitimate ongoing or any discussions.
- Threads talking about <insert any crypto here> going to the moon or any stupid stuff.
- Threads being duplicates of the ones in the past and same posts being posted again.
- Threads being created by breaking any of the forum rules.
- Threads asking for illegal advice/things.
- Threads saying stuff like this , this, this, this etc. You'll start to get it once your posts starts to get thrashed.
P.S. your title is way too misleading.

You've previously posted in the Serious Discussion section, and any posts in that section, and it's child boards don't contribute towards post count. Other than that the thread is almost certainly being trashed. Your post count isn't being miscalculated.

Bitcoin Forum > Other > Serious discussion > Ivory Tower

These are the two boards, Welsh was explaining earlier.

1, 2, 3, 4 etc are some examples.  Smiley

5208  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it normal to wait for 6 months for a bounty reward? on: May 17, 2018, 01:11:53 PM
There is a tendency to mistreat bounty hunters and that would be another example of this. It is just ridiculous that the people that make your project great are treated like beggars. A real marketer should know better.

there is one guy name Gary. he first asked if im crypto trader. then he said he is crypto miner who works with Antpool and says i coul earn 0,08 btc weekly, all i need is mining wallet and send him my email address and he will send me mining address on email. and then to invest i think 0,04 btc, idk. so yeah..

Many times is not as obvious as "send me yer money nowthhh", the channels appear authentic, people are eager to invest and many times complete newbies. I think that I had to make this post so at least some new members will read it.

Right now, they are in the process of coin voting for possible listing and as mentioned above will be live on the third quarter of 2018. I want to check a lot of details about this concept of them but it seems the website are only limited to subjective topics and no explanation yet on how this idea will work. If some of you bumped and known much information about this, I hope you can share it cause I'm really interested with it.

For those who doesn't know anything about it. Here is their website for information https://shardax.com

5214  Other / Meta / Re: [Request] 1 Merit to become junior member and access to bounties sub on: May 16, 2018, 09:23:13 PM
What do the people who operate these bounties think of the newbie invasion? Also, people should not be required to post in order to get paid; that's already against the rules.

An idea I had in this vein was that upon registration you'd have to pick one of two paths:
 - "I want to discuss things"
= Banned from all money-making/spam-hotbed sections until Jr Member
 - "I want to make money"
= Banned from the more serious sections until Jr Member
= You have to pass a quiz before posting which tries to inform you about basic forum rules, how not to get banned, maybe some basic English knowledge, etc. (Quizzes are pointless to stop dedicated spammers, since an answer key will quickly be compiled, but it may help in cases where clueless people are ending up here.)

I am in favour of the request of 1 or 2 merit points to become a Junior because I have seen tens of alt-Juniors farming bounty campaigns - which means thousands of useless posts a day -  and it is going to continue since getting to Junior is just a question of just posting at the moment.

It would be hard for me to choose between money or knowledge, I want both, and probably a newbie would have an even bigger problem with that decision (or make an alt account since day 1).

Regarding the quiz, it is an excellent idea - upon registration the user could get a link to a thread with the very basics, like a 1 minute reading really, and be informed that he/she has to pass the test to become Junior. It is absolutely fine if the answers are eventually compiled because in any case the user will actually read the right answers and at least be aware of them.

I would avoid the English questions, there are local boards and non-English speakers can be active and be a good asset for their communities. Ideally, newbies should be pointed to rules in their own language.
5215  Other / Beginners & Help / [SAFETY] - Protect yourself from scammers in Telegram channels on: May 16, 2018, 07:14:11 PM
I decided to write this after a conversation I read on a telegram channel.

A) Fake admins:

When you follow an ICO on a Telegram it is very likely that you will receive a personal message by an "Admin" telling you that "you can buy with a special discount" nor that "you have a limited offer telegram only", etc... IT IS ALWAYS A SCAM

Campaign admins or any other personnel will never approach you directly to ask for personal information or ether to be sent. Don´t even give them your email, you will be phised or your email, if connected to PayPal, will be used to buy services in your name.

I recently read a conversation on a channel. Actually and admin is telling a user that he/she is safe after giving email and ID as long as ether was not sent. Wrong!

B) Fake channels:

An example: true channel AsuraCoin, fake channel AsuraCoins. Trust only the links on the official page, you may end up scammed and it is sad to see users asking for their tokens after sending ether to a hacker.
5216  Other / Meta / Why sometimes post count in Bitcointalk does not match the real count on: May 16, 2018, 06:54:14 PM
Hi, I am aware that a few people including myself don´t understand the post counting in Bitcointalk, that is, once in a while I will post five times in a day, but my post count only increases by let´s say three.

Why is that? Is it because I am posting fast or twice on the same thread or is there any explanation?

Notice that posts are NOT deleted nor spam nor moved, simply not counted.
5217  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH or Waves? on: May 16, 2018, 01:03:31 PM
Ethereum is a nice platform and very useful. Waves at the moment has the problem of not having enough projects and those that appear are many times "not very good" to say the least. It does not seem like they are making any effort to grow the ecosystem.
5218  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Can Spotcoin be the best ICO of the month? on: May 16, 2018, 01:00:59 PM
https://spotcoin.com/ has an existing business and has chosen the NEO chain, robust, with great brand awareness in Asia and probably one of the best platforms for 2018. Spotcoin has an existing business and a team that is used to work together. What's your view?
5219  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: Spotcoin offer free tokens. on: May 16, 2018, 12:58:49 PM
Yes, I have heard about the Spotcoin airdrop. It is particularly interesting to buy some EFX tokens because then you can apply to the airdrop and they are fairly cheap at the moment. Don't loose the opportunity of buying Spotcoin.
5220  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Spotcoin Empowered by Neo Blockchain on: May 16, 2018, 12:57:39 PM
Hello guys any thoughts about this project?

I started to follow them since they started their initial private sales and their on going presale. Their project is gonna use neo blockchain and that's a bit of suprise for me cause neo starting to spread their wings and some.project choose to use their blockchain now. If you want to know more about them you can check on their website. https://spotcoin.com

Also they will be participating on the black sea blockchain summit on the 25th of April at Georgia. You can check the itenerary for this event here
http://bsbsummit.com

Im proud to share this project here and betting this will be one of the top trend project of 2018 not just hype but also due to their outstanding concept.

Spotcoin is one of the best ICOs in the market, and it runs on one of the most solid platforms (NEO). A great team, an existing business and a cryptofriendly country will make it a great success.
