5201  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Poloniex got hacked!? on: June 19, 2016, 04:41:50 AM
Ironically, this actually might be a good example as to why you might want to keep some of your money stored on an exchange verses keeping control of the private keys. For altcoins at least.

yeah only if you want to take a very huge risk of losing your money in a very long and excruciating series of excuses made by the exchanger saying fist we have trouble with the wallet, then stop answering you, and then one day say we were hacked and meanwhile you see them running away with your money Smiley
5202  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to stay away from gambling? suggestions ? on: June 18, 2016, 05:47:20 AM
As a person who has overcome several addictions my best advice is to surround yourself with people that also do not want to do the addiction you're trying to avoid.
This can be groups focused on overcoming addiction or it can be online groups discussing overcoming addiction and of course, it really all does boil down to simply agreeing not to do it and not doing it.

Is gambling included to that "several addictions"? I think not. Gambling is something that is common and accepted by the society unless the gambler himself has lost control. Even if you are surrounded by people who had never even held a card, a poker chip, etc., and they see you gambling, they will do nothing. They will just accept the fact that you're gambling. Gambling isn't like doing drugs. If someone sees you doing drugs, they will automatically look down on you and/or report you (in some cases).

i believe that although gambling addiction is so much different from other forms of addiction but still there are many similarities between them and in order to give up gambling or staying away from it you can choose the same path that you choose for other forms of addiction to stay away or give them up. the core of the problem is somewhat similar.
5203  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Affiliate earnings/programs - Is it really worth it or not ? on: June 18, 2016, 05:38:23 AM
you can say anything about affiliate earning in general because it can be very different in a different circumstance. it can be a very good amount of earning but also it can be a total waste of time.

it depends mostly on how honest the site is in paying you your percentage of share and also on how much time you are willing to spend on advertising for them with your link.

I don't think it necesarilly matters how much time you spend advertising, it depends how well you do it and how good your conversions are. For example, if you manage to refer a whale who bets a big amount, you will manage to earn big commission due to his big bets.

Do note that creating threads solely for the purpose to promote a referral link is illegal on bitcointalk, so don't do that.

i am not talking about creating threads here (i am well aware of the rules) and not even anyplace else for the sole purpose of putting your referral link, that is just a waste of time.

if you want to find those whales that you are talking about you need to spend time to find them, make good articles or convincing arguments and then spend some time explaining to them how bitcoin works and why they need to use it instead.
5204  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do you spend your gambling winnings on ? on: June 18, 2016, 05:33:46 AM
In was just thinking about this earlier today and I was wonder how different people from different countries would spend their gamblin winnings?

If you do spend it what do you spend it on and why ?

If you don't spend it what do you do with it ? Do you gamble more ?

if i make a profit from gambling by any chance i would just add it to my storage to keep it for the later profit from the price rise. but this is only true if the profit from the win is big, usually the winning is small so i just add it to my bankroll or withdraw it to my hot wallet to spend.
5205  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC price doubled - is halving now priced in? on: June 18, 2016, 05:30:19 AM
this is just slowing down on the way to top, in order to shakeout some of the panic sellers who will just dump their coins in the pockets of the whales who are waiting for them to do this.

so to answer your question i have to say, no it is not yet priced in. there is still time and a lot more up to go.
5206  Economy / Speculation / Re: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DONT SELL YOUR BITCOIN on: June 18, 2016, 05:26:25 AM
Actually you should sell all your bitcoins so you can buy shitcoins. Shitcoins are the future

yeah, you mean like DAO that was hacked yesterday or you mean like ethereum that is being pump and dumped everyday and has 70 million premine coins.
or maybe you are talking about all those other couple of hundreds of coins which came and filled the media with their hype for a short time and now we don't even see them in the first 100 market cap list Cheesy
5207  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin without Altcoin ? on: June 18, 2016, 05:21:50 AM
I just wanted to get your opinions on this one , what do you think Bitcoin would be if there was no Alternative coins such Litecoin & Dogecoin and the others ...
I mean it would be better with or without them Bitcoin would have no value at all ?

Bitcoin without altcoin is like a bitcoin that has only few ways of earning. If without altcoin i think its hard to earn more bitcoin because many are here bitcoin user earn in altcoin if theres no altcoin theres no bitcoin others.
That is not that true actually. Not that many people buy Bitcoin with altcoin. Most people buy altcoin with Bitcoin. Other peolpe just use signature campaigns or faucets to earn Bitcoin.

i think by earning bitcoin through altcoins he means trading. because all of the altcoins that i have seen so far were created just to be bought, then pumped then dumped in order to help you gain more bitcoin in this process.
5208  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you trust to bitcoin casinos? on: June 18, 2016, 05:18:18 AM
Do you really trust online bitcoin casinos you play at?

I think all lost in casino, except the owner.

1. Most of bitcoin casinos are provably fair, learn what it means before accusing them.

2. Loses are explained with probability theory. You can't seriously expect to make 100x profit, just learn when to stop.
We don't know if casinos have a probably fair but in scam accusations have some people have a trouble with casinos. we don't know how probably fair according to them.

how can you not know about casino's "provably" fair? every legit casino has this system and the link for you to check that is in their page. just click on it and read the instructions on how to check it, and if you have any questions on how it works you can ask to make sure.
5209  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What to do with your 13 bitcoins on: June 18, 2016, 05:07:11 AM
hold it for few months till btc price going up to ~$500 and sell it when it happening, simple, and less risky but need time
or do use it for paying my monthly bills
Well let's just hope that he saved all his Bitcoin until now. The price is at a 28 month high. If he sold before, he is definitely not albert einstein.

Price is around $750 now we are expecting much higher price at the time of halving, so at this stage the best thing would be to hold those coins for next couple of days.

if you plan on selling in a couple of days you have to choose the day trading path and be active everyday while buying and selling all the time, buy in the dips and then sell at higher price that day or after a short while.
5210  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Trouble installing on Ubuntu 16.04 on: June 18, 2016, 05:03:43 AM
Quote
Electrum is available inside Ubuntu packages. so the following will work fine:
Code:
sudo apt-get install electrum

I gave this a try and got the following response:
E: Unable to locate package electrum

this is linux related trouble so you should ask/google it.
read previous comments for alternate link to install it or do the following fix:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/378558/unable-to-locate-package-while-trying-to-install-packages-by-apt

although Electrum can't be found on xenial(which is Ubuntu 16.04LTS) for some reason, but it is on Trusty(which is the last LTS-14.04 varsion)
5211  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum not connecting, but already sent money to wallet on: June 18, 2016, 04:48:14 AM
My Electrum wallet isn't connecting for some reason. I have Mac OS X El Capitan(10.11.3) and using Electrum 2.6.4. I don't want to uninstall or really mess with anything until I know what's going on. Everything was working fine a couple days ago. I just sent BTC from my coinbase account so I'm concerned it will be lost if I start uninstalling and reinstalling things while BTC is enroute. What should I do?

first of all you can check your bitcoin address in an online block explorer like blockchain.info to see if you have received the bitcoins and put your mind at ease.

your problem is most probably because of connection so check your connection, your firewall or antivirus if you have it and see if they let Electrum connect to internet or not. unblock Electrum if they are.
https://www.google.com/search?q=mac+firewall+block+outgoing+connections

in the end do what my top comment says, change servers manually if it can't find them automatically.
5212  Economy / Speculation / Re: Don't worry - this is neither a crash nor a turning point ... on: June 18, 2016, 04:42:08 AM
It will be amusing in the future to look back and see ppl fretting over whether the price was $100 or $900. It will all look the same
I certainly hope so. I read that there are prediction about bitcoin - and expected value of 1 BTC in year 2027 is $300.000.
I know at this point is pure sci-fi speculation but I definitely would like that to happen.

although we can't say anything for certain about the future which is this far (11 years) but that is a little unrealistic price for bitcoin and i doubt if it is even possible.
5213  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would be the result of a 51% attack? on: June 18, 2016, 04:36:56 AM
Temporary disruption. We can argue how long "temporary" is though.

As long as you don't make any transactions during the attack, your coins would be fine. Bitcoin would survive.

correct me if i am wrong but since 51% attack is only letting double spend happen, you only have to wait for more confirmation on your transactions, you don't need to stay away.
i don't know what that number should be but i think something around 30 according to bitcoin.org would suffice
5214  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: blockchain wallet hacked and all fund has been taken out on: June 18, 2016, 04:27:28 AM
recently one of my blockchain wallet has been hacked and the fund has been taken ..i have send message to blockchain but still no reply form them ..is there any way i can get the fund back ??

not sure why this happen ..this quite bad

most probably there nothing you can do to take your funds back.
because in 99.9999% of the hacked accounts the owner of that account is responsible for losing their money. so tell me why was your wallet hacked?
did you have 2FA enabled?
do you have a keylogger on your system?
how strong was your password and did you use the same password elsewhere?
did you use TOR?
5215  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Which is better: arbitrage or simply holding onto bitcoins? on: June 17, 2016, 06:39:27 AM
Whenever I get bitcoin, I immediately sell for a small profit.  I have been wondering if I would be better off just holding onto them...then I think that to make money I gotta buy and sell, buy and sell, over and over.

What are your thoughts?  Is it better to buy and hold or buy low/sell high?

both of them are good ways of making money, you should see which one is better for you. usually people are choosing the easy way of just buying low and hold it and wait until the price is high and then sell it.

but also you can see that there is always a lot of ups and downs in the market which can be considered good opportunities to buy low and sell high every day on each of these dips and rises.
5216  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Does auto trading bot make good profit ? on: June 17, 2016, 06:34:20 AM
Does automated Bitcoin or other crypto currency trading bot can make some good benefits ? Is it good to use it ? What is the best bot ?

yes and no.

but if you are looking for a magical bot that you just click a button and it makes you rich then i have to say there in none. especially if you don't know about trading and have to experience in the matter.

but bots can help you a lot in trading and watching the market and earning profit ONLY if they are coded well and you know how to use them based on your knowledge of the market.
i dont think it is very useful to use auto traing bots because as you can see the price is not very stable at the moment and when the price rise allot the bots does not see it on time so be careful always have a look self.

as i said it is not magic, it depends on how you (or the developer of the bot) have coded the bot. if you have foreseen all the variables and made appropriate code for it then it can be done.

computer on its own doesn't have a mind so you have to create all these situations in your mind and then translate it into coding (machine language) so computer can decide on your behalf. so it can be done but it is not easy.
5217  Other / Archival / Re: Do you use bitcoin as currency or investment? on: June 17, 2016, 06:27:42 AM
Do you use bitcoin as currency? Or you use bitcoin as investment? Or both?
I use bitcoin as currency and i never sell my bitcoin, but i prefer to use bitcoin when price is rising Grin

So, how about you?
I using bitcoin as currency and investment because both of them is i need sometimes i want to buy something with my btc and i need to have an investment to get a profit.
I think everyone will use bitcoin as a currency on the internet, and on the other hand they see bitcoin is an excellent investment tool. it is because bitcoin can make money very quickly if invested in the right places, but it is very fast bitcoin transaction enables everybody to see bitcoin as the best currency in the internet

yeah this can happen eventually but there still isn't as much services even online that accept bitcoin. especially the big ones don't yet do it.
for example two of the biggest ones like Amazon and Ebay still doesn't let bitcoin transactions in their system,
5218  Other / Off-topic / Re: Earning a living with bitcoin? on: June 17, 2016, 06:23:12 AM
we all have the potential to collect all the important knowledge that you will be needing in order to attain success in btc.
There's investment sites, faucets, and stuff. If you know how those thing works, you can basically make money easily by doing ads. As of living, you can exchange your btc into USD in the services section of this forum or you can search for a trusted website that converts btc/paypal.

Yes and there are local bitcoin exchanges now too. If you want to change your bitcoin in your own country currency.

In terms of earning there is a lot now including free satoshis from different advertisements and there are paid to click jobs also but they dont pay that much, it is a good start though.

you can always turn bitcoin into USD, or EUR or any other currency other than your local currency and then exchange that to your local currency if you have any trouble finding someone in your country that buys bitcoin and pays you local fiat.
because it is usually easier and more popular to turn USD to local currency than bitcoin to local currency.
5219  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin goes to 10 000 within a moth! on: June 17, 2016, 06:09:40 AM

i hope that such price will be reached in at least 2 years or so, that would attract a lot of people to bitcoins in my opinion what would help it to grow even more because everyone would invest

From reading this forum from 2-3 years ago people were expecting $10,000 and more by now and look what happened. I think it'll come if the stars align but there's alot of alignment needed yet.

Yeah, I don't think $10,000 is possible this year. Maybe just $5000.
realy ? $5000 ? r u jokking ?

its imposible to reach $5000 , max this year 900$. and will never reach 1000$ this year

a couple of months back i saw people like you a lot saying max price this year is $400 and then price went up to $450 and then there were all that drama and the price playing jump rope and then those people kept saying we were right and bitcoin will soon fall down to $200 and now there is the same story again with a different number.
5220  Economy / Speculation / Re: What are your views on Bitcoins future on: June 17, 2016, 05:56:26 AM
Give your views will Bitcoin currency replace all the digital currencies and become the most used currency in future

i think there is a difference between replacing all digital currencies and being the most used currency.

because i do believe the bitcoin can replace any for of digital/online payment system and rise above all of them very soon. but to be used instead of fiat (the paper money in offline stores) i doubt this can ever happen. or at least this will not happen in our lifetime.
