Our provider (Hetzner) messed up it's routing and telephone support can not be reached. It looks like it's working again but I have no idea whether problems will return or not.
5202  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why is it so hard to buy bitcoin with PayPal Arghhhh!!!! on: November 11, 2013, 12:19:08 AM
"Verified" PayPal means fuck all.

PayPal DOES NOT verify your live DNA, retina, and fingerprint every time you login. Tens if not hundreds of thousands of PayPal accounts are "hacked" by their owners daily.

Bitcoin unaffected by reversal fraud.

Wonder if maybe the input.io hack got him worried since he does keep wallets on system and all.  So basically decided the risk was not worth it at least for him anymore.

If he worried about that, he could make the website automatically pay out to your own private wallets when money is recieved to it's own wallets, that way nobody risks anything. The site never holds money.

Already exists at coinpost.com (which needs some work). You put in your BTC address for every item you list for sale.
5206  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info - Bitcoin Block explorer & Currency Statistics on: November 09, 2013, 11:48:40 AM
It might have been answered before but I have a question about the "Relayed by IP" field.
I understand whatever ip address it shows has no meaning, but if it says "Relayed by IP : Blockchain.info", does it mean 100% sure that the transaction has been performed though blockchain.info's online wallet feature ?

Probably not.  It could also have been performed through their API.  There are websites (and probably wallets) that broadcast transactions by sending them through blockchain.info's API, I am 90% sure they also show up as relayed by blockchain.info.

Thanks.

I had a quick glance at their transaction API (https://blockchain.info/api/json_rpc_api) and it seems like you do need a wallet with them to broadcast transactions, even if only for authentication purposes ?
Or is there another API where someone can post raw signed transactions without authenticating first ?

Yes, blockchain.info/pushtx

You could probably just pay the preev creator directly, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=20586 according to the contact info that pops up when you click the question mark on there.

So, I'll buy, but I will never be put in the position of having to reverse PayPal, so escrow if you don't believe my raters on here and WoT (link in sig).

Can't even sell my own bloody instruments (see sig) for BTC without perhaps discounting them 50% under fiat. Good luck.
5216  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The safest way to protect your bitcoins on: November 08, 2013, 12:34:35 AM
So how safe is a website such as blockchain.info?

Perfectly safe, if you use it only to import private keys and immediately and completely sweep (spend) them to addresses that have no private keys stored electronically.

- It's OK to post a rating about the person in general, not tied to a specific trade.
5218  Economy / Economics / Re: Effects of hoarding on trading on: November 07, 2013, 12:21:50 AM
Based on the results of this poll: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=148660.0

I tried floating my prices to 10% of cost using MtGox (which is itself effectively a discount if people pay ~10% less to buy BTC practically everywhere else). No increase in sales.

Probably only a 50% or more discount under fiat will get results, despite the majority of poll responses.
5219  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] bitaddress.org Safe JavaScript Bitcoin address/private key on: November 06, 2013, 11:07:58 PM
Is it possible to BIP38 passphrase protect already generated private keys?
I'd love to print again some of my existing paperwallets and passphrase protect them.

+1
5220  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Beware of PayPal and other reversible transfer services on: November 06, 2013, 11:01:30 PM
Don't know if this has been brought up in the thread already, but say that someone transfers money to my paypal-account and then as soon as I see the money I withdraw them to my bankaccount, is it still possible to reverse the transfer?

Yes.
