Well good afternoon Bitcoinland. Just got online after successful surgery Friday.

I see I missed some excitement while I was away... big dip and big recovery... currently $8172USD/$10700CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

It's pretty much back to where it was before I went in. Woke up and decided to fire up the laptop just in time to catch the end of the rally.

I guess my bladder alarm still works.   Cool

Nothing to do now but relax in the Mexican sun and convalesce until I get my sutures removed on Thursday. I can't fly for at least a couple more weeks but at least I can head out to the jungle later this week.

I'm currently toothless with very fragile gums after bone grafts to my jaws. Needless to say, I'm on a totally liquid diet. Ever have pork tacos pureed in a blender? Delicious!

Did anybody actually read Jimbos post ?

Jimbo, i apologise in behalf of all these money orientated people here, they have nothing other than money in their brain.
You heartless bunch.

I read it...the dude is chillin in the sun sippin on some blended tacos. Livin it up!

Pureed pork tacos, eh? Chillin in the sun you say?  It seems more like JimboToronto is preparing for a clandestine mission to the moon!

 Godspeed.

Speaking of capitulation, I'm CONSIDERING starting to contemplate selling a batch - if I can - between $7.5-$8k before end of March just to get the tax monkey off my back. Sent an email to my accountant asking what the penalty is on $xM deferred from Q1 to Q2.

Seriously.

Sheeeit.

No proud to admit this.

Also, I've come to recognize everyone doing trade analysis of Bitcoin is full of shit.
EVERYONE.

 guilty and still hodling

Very roughly :  BTC at ~2k = 40BN, Best 20 alts at $60BN total, gives a bottom of ~100BN.

If that ever happens, I'll do what McAffee has promised for 2020 1 million's prediction. Smiley

I hope you realize that John plans to eat this -

Guys,  I have consulted the Epitome of Divination on the subject of Bitcoin to put our minds at ease, allow our souls to rest easy and also to get some of us eating again...

Hmmm... I wonder, has anyone tried to enter a negative sign in front of the merit amount?  Perhaps it does work.

An Error Has Occurred!
Invalid amount

Thanks!  I was afraid that trying it would crash the board and I have a lot (more) angry people after me.

Am I alone in thinking that this is the true beginning of the demise of bitcoin?
 Undecided

Have you just bought this account?

Someone of your vintage should be exactly like this right now -

Exactly!! By now, you should be the Prime Minister of the Government of a federated.... wait, what?!  ...oh I get it Wink  Shirtless right?

Should allow to take Merits away for such ... insult?

I wish I could remove merit points for the incorrect grip on that spinning gear while attempting to portray the image of an avid outdoorsman.
^That's an insult!
^and that makes that an insult Wink
#insult2

Where did everyone go?

Just HODLing, nice and easy.

I'm still around too; just off messing around with Haiku.

Satoshi vision conference ?

Is there any evidence AT ALL that satoshi's vision was to "scale" bitcoin by cramming more and more transactions into blocks until the point where full node operators need to open a data center and purchase a T1 line? Where the hell does ver get this crap about this being "satoshi's vision"?
...that has nothing to do with the number of transactions.

Can you be more specific? What has nothing to do with the number of transactions?
The number of transactions has nothing to do with the choice to build a data center.

ooooookkkkkk. You are off on a different planet buddy.
Open source. We know how it works. Have known from the start.

You are the one making an assertion here. In what way does the number of transactions force miners into data centers?

It might help this discussion to note that full node miner

Look at Bob, he has probably paid more in taxes than an average person would need to live their entire life. It's costly, yep, but I guess you buy some peace of mind with that. Not because it is fair or even moral, but just because you avoid such potential problems.

Of course we all have the right to gamble on the risk of not doing it. That's each person decision.

That's the point: I don't pay taxes as a matter of principle, just like I don't pay extortionists, which is the same.
If I have to live as a mafiaman and risk everything all the time, so be it. The Revolution is not for gays.

Now I feel as though there will be IRS agents infiltrating our party.  I suggest we have to sign a message with our posted addresses to gain entry.  Maybe r0ach can guard the door to keep the riff raff out Grin

I know you know about r/K, so tell me how this sounds to you.
People either think in an r way or a K way, to varying degrees. When a hard r and a hard K meet, they instinctively recognize one another for what they are, and instantly hate eachother.

So far as I have been able to apply r/K selection theory to my peer group, equating Liberal r to Conservative K, I've unfriended friends and family on social media over their liberal views.

Don't care if I ever cross paths with them at family functions in the future, ever again.

EDIT: I'm a firm 2nd Amendment supporter, and the reee's and tears from my Liberal contacts, in the wake of this recent Florida School shooting, was enough to say "You know what Bob. You're retired. You don't have to deal with any shit you don't want to deal with any more. Fuck 'em".

We have kids literally marching to have their rights taken away from them.

What sort of fucked up alternate-reality have I slipped into ?!

Nothing wrong with healthy debate and the pro-2nd amendment side needs your support.  Those kids are marching to give away a tangible item because they dont know any better.  It's not a right to them, it's just a thing; a gun they're giving up and since they dont use them anyway, they dont see it as giving up anything.  They need proper education so they can make a more informed choice.  Educate them Bob!

Do you realize we were talking about a $100K party?
0.5BTC would be $50K by then.... Quoting for posterity! Smiley

Oh, sheeit. LOL. I must have missed the "$100k Party" part.

$50k of booze in one night ? Is that even possible ? Without anyone dying ?

EDIT: Now, if the devils weed is legally available in Nevada, that could be fun doing $25k of booze and $25k of edibles/veggies.
EDIT2: Yep. Legal in Nevada. https://potguide.com/nevada/marijuana-laws/

$50k for booze in Canada in one night is doable.  That's how we pay for our universal health care.
Let's not have the party here... unless we think somebody is going to require medical care in the aftermath.

Make it on Las Vegas during summer and I'm sold. Probably the only place in the world that could stand the assorted and extravagant bunch of us celebrating that awesome milestone in the most extreme and extravagant ways Smiley

Maybe we could even hire the Vodoo Lounge at the Rio (51st floor) just for our party.

Does anyone here have any experience of internet meets? I have a sneaking feeling they'd be fucking horrifying. And for some of the longstanding members there must be people with grudges against them out there, let alone blown opsec with wallet balances being linkable.

I'll send an actor. Or a cat.

I was involved in arranging/attending a BBS party and it was pretty cool.  The difference being that everyone resided within the local calling codes of the BBS.  What was most surprising was that there were no surprises.  Even though we were anonymous and had nicknames, people were pretty much the same as their online personas.  I left the party a little too early though because apparently i missed Rapunzel's table dance.   Cry  If i remember correctly, she was the resident cat lady; an eccentric artist.

Asking for a friend...

That's another form of the "royal" we....   hahahahaha

Just note to all potential beggars.

That's the french revolution version of fake news and if Macron has his way, we wont be able to see it!
I wonder if works of historical fiction will also be banned?  Then what of mythology and fokelore?  Fake news!

Sadly it lost its coveted position of the world’s most expensive coffee. There's other rarer stuff shit out by different, more exotic animals that's now selling for more.
I remember a pair of Hyacinth Macaws at a place I worked years ago. You could walk up to the cage, give them a nut, and they would either hand it back to you or drop it on the ground. If they handed it back it was perfect. If they dropped it, it was bad. There is no difference in the nuts from the outside.

Impressive.

PS: I see that Macallan site doesn't take bitcoin. What wankers.

This thread could use a pair of Hyacinth Macaws to sort out the good and bad nuts... It'd be a lot of work for them since I'm fairly certain we are mostly nuts.

I think youre right.  My urine is perpetually bright yellow... I'm going to cut out the b100.  Thanks for the advice!

Tell us more about your urine. Seriously though, I do find this interesting. Didn't think it was possible to OD on the Bs.

Well when i eat asparagas... Cheesy

Thanks very much for the information!  I didnt realize that B6 was stored in muscles and tissue and i didnt consider all of the sources.  I'd better check my own intake.  I've been taking a B100 plus a multivitamin for years but i consume a lot of protein shakes and bars as well.

Youre already taking way too much. B100 is ludicrous and should be pulled from the market. Why do people need 100x RDAs of vitamins? The only one we have trouble absorbing is B12. Eveything else is at best a burden to your kidneys/liver/hydration/wallet and at worse toxicity.

5239  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 11, 2018, 11:02:43 PM
I dont mean to pry but I'm curious about the B6 toxicity.  I'm assuming you must have been using supplements in order to hit toxic levels but since it is a water soluable vitamin and you were doing long distance running, you could have taken much more than the recommeneded daily allowance without any ill effects.  Most oral B6 supplements are in the range or 50-250 mg  which is 25-125 times the RDA (athletes and body-builders could still require those amounts).  How much were you taking and for how long?  Were you injecting?  Ive alwas been under the impression that it would be nearly impossible to hit toxic levels of the water-soluable vitamins.

B6 is special in that even though it is water soluble, it is stored extensively in muscles and tissues. To get B6 toxicity, you must do one of two things.
1. Take such a large amount at once (over 1g) that just the amount in your bloodstream fries your nerves.
2. Take a medium amount chronically for so long that your 'muscle storage' gets full , coupled with getting dehyrated so that you are not excreting the water soluble vitamin properly. In studied on chronic toxicity on some women at a pregnancy ward in a hospital, the average amount was 100mg taken over an average of 2.5 years. Those who had taken the same amount over 1.5 years were fine. Many people in the support groups claim to have this condition using much less over a much shorter amount of time.

The amount that I took was anywhere from 100-250mg on a paticular day, over a span of 10 years, gradually increasing until the year I became sick. The level in my blood was 180 on a scale of 2-21 and I hadnt even taken vitamins in one week. Heres what I had been taking.
-GNC ,multivitamins (50mg)
-Extra b complex (50mg)
-multiple 5 hour energy drinks (50mg each)
-protein shakes
-fortified foods
I also gradually dehydrated myself more and more over time by going on crazy camping trips around the world and running longer and longer distances and overtraining. I probably also damaged my liver with designer drugs.

Thanks very much for the information!  I didnt realize that B6 was stored in muscles and tissue and i didnt consider all of the sources.  I'd better check my own intake.  I've been taking a B100 plus a multivitamin for years but i consume a lot of protein shakes and bars as well.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Still bouncing along in the $9k range I see... currently $9200USD/$11783CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Ho hum.

How long did the withdrawal symptoms last, and how bad were they?

I was pretty angry and irritable for a solid 6-8 weeks before I started chilling out.

I guess I'm lucky. I quit a 2-pack-a-day habit 33 years ago almost by accident.

I caught such a nasty cold/flu/pneumonia I was in bed for 3 days barely getting up to re-hydrate myself and go to the can.

When my fever broke and my mind cleared, I realized I hadn't had a smoke in 3 days. I didn't need to quit. I just needed to not start smoking again.

Quitting is not an action. Smoking is. All you need to do to quit is to not do anything. To smoke you need to acquire tobacco and fire, light the cigarette and inhale. Unless you're actively smoking, you've already quit. Just don't start again.

I suffered no withdrawal symptoms. Maybe I had them when I was in my feverish delirium and wasn't aware of them.

I also didn't suck out like a whiny little crybaby and totally avoid tobacco smoke. I continued to mix a little tobacco in the occasional hash doob. I chose to sit in the smoking sections of smoking-segregated restaurants and in the smoking cars of trains.

I found that non-smoking sections were full of anti-smoking fussbudgets and I find secondhand stress far more offensive than secondhand smoke. The smoking sections generally have a higher caliber of people. I also found that people take their annoying brats to the non-smoking areas.

Quitting is easy. Just don't smoke.

 Grin

 Damn!  My T-zone us gettin'all T-ngly 'n stuff now.
