5221  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: crypTrax - Keep track of your cryptocurrencies on: May 24, 2022, 06:50:11 PM
- News feeds (20 sources)
- Import 107 diffrent Exchanges API Key's to check balances
- Import diffrent Wallets(Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Dash, Dogecoin, Stratis, DigiByte, Neo) to check balances
- UI update
Thanks for one more amazing update!
Nice to see you added wallet address tracking balance, and my only concern about this is who else is reading IP address connected with those addresses, so maybe TOR switch would be good to have.
I love newsfeed feature, and I would like to see if breaking news could be somehow shown in widget bar (just titles, not complete articles).
I have to say that this is hands down one of the best portfolio apps for desktop, and I am surprised it is not gaining more popularity, especially since it is open source.
Maybe you need to do some marketing, open crypTrax twitter account and make some kind of partnership with other websites and people involved in crypto.
5222  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Are dices for generating seed words fair? on: May 24, 2022, 06:38:01 PM
Nor RNG, nor TRNG really exist and will never exist, maybe I'm wrong but I have a different opinion, let me make it clear.
Not maybe, you are certainly wrong with your statement and I have to say that this is not philosophy class or new age mambo jumbo, it's just math.

Let's drop a coin from the top of one world trade center and who guesses the coin toss is the winner. Let's say you win and you'll probably say that you are lucky but wait, what about if I say that I did it so?
Let's say if your drop that coin from same world trade center but you do it 100 or 200 times, this is what we are talking about, not just one time flip of a coin.

That's why I think that randomness exists only subjectively within the minds of individuals and we call it randomness when something happens and we completely ignore the correlation, not even trying to truly find it.
Everything exists within the mind of individuals and you can't function in the world without mins, but I will repeat again, this is MATH and if result can be repeated that means it's not truly random.
That is why we saw fake Trezor devices showing up recently that create fake random seed word generation, that can be repeated and exploited my malicious actors.
I think that you don't really understand anything about this subject, and I am not saying that I am expert in any way.
5223  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: CriptoDebit.com is a scam on: May 24, 2022, 05:58:10 PM
Speaking of flags sine I am remote into my desktop I can't open one against their account: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=3455716 can someone do that just in case they come back or the website comes alive again.
I can create only first flag type since I was not damaged myself and I didn't personally lose any money, but I would strongly suggest that other member like @drakmail, @Dextrosium and others create one of offered flag types:

Code:
This user violated a casual or implied agreement with me, resulting in damages.
or
Code:
This user violated a written contract with me, resulting in damages.

In case they return (I doubt they will), here is the flag I created for CriptoDebit and anyone can support or oppose it:

5224  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Does Binance.us allow you to P2P in other countries? on: May 24, 2022, 05:48:57 PM
The moment you cross United States border Binance will notice your IP address changed, and they could lock your account and consider it hacked, sold or stolen, especially if you use it in some exotic countries far away from US.
You could use vpn to mitigate this, but that could create even bigger problem for you, so I would suggest using P2P websites that don't have any mandatory kyc, like LocalCryptos, HodlHodl, AgoraDesk, etc.
5225  Economy / Reputation / Re: Why not tag all bounty hunters? on: May 24, 2022, 05:07:14 PM
I've said before that I think tagging Newbies for "bounty abuse" is futile. Accounts with high Activity and 0 Merit have nothing to lose, because they can easily create new accounts. Worse: it makes negative feedback very common instead of reserved for scammers, which leads to more and more people (including bounty/campaign managers) ignoring the warning.
I would in principle agree with you that red tagging everyone is counterproductive and waste of time, but in some cases it's not a bad idea to write neutral feedback if accounts are connected in some way.
Maybe this feedback should show link to topic with more information and connections other members found, and it will help managers and other members when they investigate their posting history.

The bounty scams don't even care about the duplicate accounts: they pay with made-up tokens created out of thin air, designed to make the creator rich. There's no way all of them are unique projects, and I'm pretty sure a couple of teams are behind most of the ICOs, Defi and other useless "disrupting" pump and dump BS that gives crypto such a bad name. They don't care: the more spam, the more they earn!
I wouldn't put all bounties in one basket, and you should be more specific saying this applies mostly for worthless shitcoin bounties.
There could be bounties that pay in Bitcoins, maybe some puzzle solving, or completing other tasks unrelated to altcoins.
If you want to address issue of altcoin bounties than I think you should talk more with managers who organize them.

Yes, the topic title was clickbait, but I'm trying to make a point here. If tagging them doesn't work, if the forum doesn't ban their low-quality posts, and if they don't bring anything good at all, can't we just ignore them completely? Don't mention them in Reputation (sorry, I'm guilty too), don't mention them in Scam Accusations, don't look for "alts" as long as they have nothing to lose, don't tag them, but just ignore them completely?
You can always ignore them, and I am using that ignore button for many members, but I can say the same thing for any spammers.
Why would you or anyone else engage in conversation with someone who is posting rinse repeated spam questions over and over again?
I asked other members to stop doing that in other sections, but I guess they prefer getting paid for conversing with spammers sometimes.

This is one quick homemade extra bacon bitcoin pizza with green hot pepper, because we like those big green candles in Bitcoin charts.

5227  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor hacked (again) on: May 23, 2022, 01:39:16 PM
Warning for everyone that new fake Trezor devices showed up recently in Russian marketplaces, and they should be considered as malicious!
Scammers are probably using current situation that Trezor is not shipping their devices to Russia and Ukraine at the moment.

Few days ago Trezor released one interesting blog article with recommendations for purchasing hardware wallets, with well known things like detecting tampering, tamper evident seals, firmware checks, device cases inspection, packaging improvements, software improvements, hardware component bonding. etc.
One thing that got my attention was part of the article that mentions new fake and modified Trezor devices appeared recently and they are mostly sold in Russian marketplaces.
This devices had a bootloader that was not released, vendor was unofficial and many devices sold on this marketplaces displayed a message when trying to sign a transaction:
Code:
-26: non-mandatory-script-verify-flag (Signature must be zero for failed CHECK(MULTI)SIG operation)

Firmware updated would show success message, but malicious firmware would remain on device, some functions like Shamir backup were not functioning on this devices, seed words generated by fake devices were predictable or predefined, passphrase function was also modified!
Trezor Model T was mostly affected by this, with some internal components had been replaced by malicious actors.

5228  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you saved your bitcoins in multiple wallets? on: May 23, 2022, 01:00:11 PM
As the saying goes dont keep your eggs in the same basket. So have you saved all of your btc in mutiple wallets\software?
It's good idea to split your Bitcoin holdings in multiple wallets, and this can be software wallets, hardware wallets or combination of both using something like multisig setup.
This adds extra complexity but it also increases security a lot, and this should be done if you are holding larger amount of bitcoins.
I would never hold any bitcoin on centralized exchanges, and I don't consider this to be ''wallet'' at all, they should only be used for trading.

Should i make it 50:50 even though bitcoin core is always online?
I won't talk exact percentage and this can be different for everyone, but I would keep majority of coins in cold storage.
This can be created using software wallet on offline computer, paper wallet or by using hardware wallet that is most simple option.
You can hold rest of your holdings that you plant to spend periodically of hot wallets, and for daily transactions mobile wallets are perfect.
I would suggest that wallets you used should be verified open source and non-custodial.
5229  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Cheap Node Self Hosting: Just because you CAN does not mean you SHOULD on: May 23, 2022, 12:40:35 PM
Watt Raspi clones do you mean?
There are bunch of Rpi clones for years, some of them are RockPi, Odroid, Pine64, Banana Pi, Orange Pi and some others could be considered as alternative, for example ASUS Tinker Board.
I am sure there are other single board computers that are inspired by raspberry pi.
5230  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: 🔥Seedkeeper🔥 Hardware device to safely store your seed on: May 23, 2022, 12:14:17 PM
Seedkeeper is purely designed to store sensitive information. Secured by a PIN code.
You can use it to initialize a Satochip card or save an existing seed. It's useful to add an extra security layer and as a backup of your metal plate.
This means that in theory I could just erase wipe out my Seedkeeper card, and load it with open source code provided for Satochip or Satodime?

We are selling chip card readers because: 1) we have not release mobile app (and thus NFC communication) for Satochip and Seedkeeper products (not yet). 2) NFC reader are very expansive. Much more than a chip card reader.
Chip card readers could be serious problem and single point of failure for your product, for example I recently heard a news about card readers that came with malware infected drivers.
I didn't know that there is list of approved card readers, so anything that was not approved or certified could have some code hidden inside of them.
Even approved card readers can have some government installed backdoor, so I have hard time trusting any of them.
Is the card reader you are selling approved or not, and what kind of code it's using?

I think given the price to performance as well as the longevity aspect, the energy efficiency of HDD vs SSD would be negligible or simply a dollar or two extra per year, maximum. The price of a HDD is ridiculously low compared to SSD of similar size. The noise produced by HDD is actually quite overstated most of the time and it is barely audible.
Some disks are creating more noise than others, but if the HDD noise is the problem, I found easy solution for that by purchasing silencing case enclosure that almost totally removed noise from my HDD.
It is made from solid metal from inside (I think copper) with combination of foam and other materials that makes drive cool and quiet.
I found this very cheap, but I guess you can easily make something similar if you like DIY projects.

Regarding the cooling required for RPi4, I ran into some throttling with RPi4 during synchronization and slapped a heatsink, which more or less solved the issue. Active cooling wasn't really necessary in my case. Never really an issue with the previous revisions though (7w vs 5w). It is still painfully slow regardless.
I can confirm that Rpi400 has a huge heatsink that made massive cooling improvements, so you don't need to install any fans and you will have 100% silent computer.
Version with 4GB and 8GB is not slow at all, but there is option of using Rpi computing module, or some Rpi clones that are even stronger.

Well, That was a long story Timelord. Seems you forgot everything. Once dkbit98 accused me and Poker Player as alts without any evidence and connections.
I have the right to suspect in anyone if I think there is something shady about certain members, and I was not so much wrong because you made copy-paste plagiarism multiple times with one of your altaccounts.
This topic is for your ban appeal not about me, and I have to say that your case is not looking good so far, honestly I have to say that you were part of my ignore list long before you got banned for breaking forum rules.

5236  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: wwzsocki/ A big scammer on: May 22, 2022, 09:23:00 PM
DT1 member already got the transaction details, from what I see he is trusted in this board as investigator, as always I kept my word.
I did receive PM from wwzsocki but all I can see is some transaction from centralized exchange to another address, and I can't verify who the owner is.
I won't reveal this address, and I have no idea why both of them are still keeping this a secret, but I can confirm that 426 usdt was sent 16 days ago.
This tronscan explorer is crap, but for what is worth, I can see that same address received coins multiple times from one exchange address, first one was 209 days ago.
If I counted correctly there was total of 32 transaction between this two addresses.

Give me the address of your wallet right now, I'll send $ 200 for you to show everyone who you are.
You already know his address.
Just send him back this coins on same address.
5237  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [unofficial] CoinDebit NO-KYC pre-paid cards? on: May 22, 2022, 09:05:23 PM
Virtual card.
At the moment I'm out of addresses I would want to use for unknown services.
I am more interested in physical cards, and I am also wondering what name are they writing on cards, legal or anything you want to write, like John Rambo, Ivan Drago and similar.
Having a card issued by a bank from foreign country is maybe not such a bad thing, if you don't want ''someone'' tracking every single purchase you make, excluding cash payments.
5238  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Coldcard on: May 22, 2022, 08:53:07 PM
My first questions would be if somebody has seen any more informations or manuals for the new NFC feature of the MK4?
I don't understand why would you need manual for something you don't even own... and it's not exactly rocket science.
You can't purchase Coldcard Mk4 version now even if you want to, you can only make reservation and wait until they make new devices, that is the same thing for weeks.
One good thing about this wallet during Pizza day, I saw they are currently offering 10% discount for all their products.

As far as I know there is the option to store LTC on an coldcard is it possible for BCH also since it is also similar to BTC?
Coldcard is not supporting shitcoins, and I don't think they will ever do that in future, that is not such a bad thing if you want to have better and cleaner code base.
5239  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Cheap Node Self Hosting: Just because you CAN does not mean you SHOULD on: May 22, 2022, 08:42:24 PM
Yes you can force a RPi2 or 3 to run a node but it is going to be a slow miserable time and you will have lots of issues.
Raspberry Pi4 is much better option because they have much bigger option to choose more RAM, that is if yo can find them available in stock  Tongue

Yes you can download the entire blockchain and run a node on a 500GB drive. But you WILL run out of space and then probably have corruption and then have to buy a larger drive and start again. And you might not even be able to copy the data from the old drive if the corruption was bad enough.
Unless you are running pruned node, that can run on even smaller hard disk without any issues.
I don't think larger hard drives are problem for anyone nowadays, old style HDD are very cheap now and you can find them anywhere.

Yes you can use older equipment to do it. You can even use 10 year old laptops with a 2nd gen core i5. But much older then that the pure performance issues are going to be a killer. And as time goes on it's only going to get worse.
If you look at ebay or craiglist you can find very cheap good laptops with more than enough RAM, processor and hard disk.
I would say that for around $100 you can get great used laptop with 3rd or 4th generation i5 or i7 intel with SSD and 8gb RAM, but better look models that can be upgraded in future, with socketed parts, not soldered.

but only because 1TB SSDs are still fairly expensive.
I don't think they are so much expensive anymore, you can quickly find very good new 1TB for around $80 to $90, and even cheaper on some deals.
There are a bunch of used 100% health 2.5 inch SSD drives being sold online, so you can find good Samsung 860 evo for around $60 to $70.
However, you should always look for TBW and higher number means that disk will last much longer, for 860 evo that would be 600TB.

5240  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Crossword on: May 22, 2022, 08:03:38 PM
Took me a few months to finalize and I decided to launch it today, Pizza Day, in honor of the legendary Laszlo Hanyecz who bought large pizzas and enjoyed them with no regrets.
It looks very good and I appreciate your made it with open source code, but some more hints and help would be greatly appreciated.
Should we consider this crossword has anything related with Pizza Day and Laszlo Hanyecz?

I would suggest if you can make website with dark theme switch similar like on your other website btc2fiat.me Wink
