5221  Other / Off-topic / Re: Looking to sell my forum account for btc. Is there any interest in this? on: October 19, 2014, 08:11:06 PM
An appropriate level of trolling, lol. I like that.

To end all debate, I did not sell this account. I argued with someone about how bad the account selling and sock puppet problem was at this forum. I said it wasn't a big deal. To prove my point I made this thread trying to honeypot possible buyers that would communicate via PM only. I have received 22 offers to purchase the account in a year. Half of those never posted in the thread and one of those was an account reseller that never posted in the thread. I'm not happy to admit I was wrong. It's a bigger problem than I thought it was.

For the record I would have given any potential buyer a test to make sure they had an appropriate knowledge of Bitcoin (capital B) and an appropriate sense of humor prior to selling the account, in order to ensure that your legacy lives on.

I thought about that but that would have eliminated too many buyers here. Technology freaks != Personality (take nutildah for example)
I am sure that someone would be willing to buy your account that would meet my criteria, I would probably just need to wait long enough. I have learned that patience is a virtue in the account trading business as waiting for the right buyer (who is willing to pay enough or otherwise) can be quite profitable.

It's hard to believe that people will buy accounts. Is it just to steal from people or are there other motivations? Surly it can't be to impress the great abyss of losers that post on THIS forum.

What an asshole.

Claiming that shows absence of the ability to adjudicate such a test.
QA was one of a kind.
The current impostor is but a shadow of the former glory.

It's a rough road ahead. I have some big silly clown shoes to fill. LOL

After doing a linguistic analysis, word usage, and punctuation regression analysys, it is now clear that there are more just the two.
QA is likely a team of people, that has been definitively narrowed down to a combination of John Nash, Nick Szabo, Taylor Swift, M. Karpales, the young Bob Hope, and Roger Ver.
The gig is up QA, you've been doxxed.

ROFL I'm the new Satoshi.
5223  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [Poll] Free Ross OR Kill Ross <search for public opinion> on: October 19, 2014, 06:51:22 PM
I can't say I disagree with either one of you. When I was a young single guy in college I could have been either one of you. My attitudes changed when I became a father. I made the extreme post showing the photos because I want people to understand this is a real issue not a hypothetical one. Is the girl in the photo just some knocked up stupid bitch that let her boyfriend hook her on drugs or is she someone's daughter or sister in trouble? Perspective is everything. It's easy to want freedom for this drug dealer (or facilitator) if his release won't effect you personally. I know jailing this guy is like floating in a sea of shit and reaching over the side of the boat to pick up one turd. It seems stupid until you realize that all you can do is flush one turd at a time.

Young people don't always make the best decisions. Mainly because they're immortal. I know because I was immortal until I was about 30. I don't know how to get my kids to 30 without being overprotective. Many times the legal system overprotects people even when it can't really solve the problems. But some people think they're immortal or their just stupid and need protection. Is it the best system? Definately not. Is it a good system? Definately not but it's the only tool I have to work with today.

I see your point. For the record, I'm a few weeks shy of 46. I also have two kids and a third on the way. I still believe as strongly as I stated above, and yes, this is the system we're currently stuck with. But it needs to go, and punishing DPR for, frankly, doing the same thing that any pharmacist is doing, does not help this nebulous "society" nor serve to protect anyone. The simple fact of the matter is that getting drugs is ridculously easy, no matter the venue, and that the silk road and similar sites existed before bitcoin, and will continue. I agree with the guys who say it probably prevented more violence than it caused trouble.

Drugs get a lot of blame. Drugs,, like guns, knives, and blunt instruments are neutral. They do nothing on their own. You can't have a war on drugs, cuz they won't fight back. The war on drugs is a war on people. I do not advocate the legalization of some drugs, we already have that. In fact, the two most deadly are available in most convenience stores. I advocate and end to ALL criminalization of personal behaviours. I know whence I speak, as I've know a lotof addicts. Most who do want help don't seek it, because they are afraid of the consequence of the law. This is counterproductive.

It also leads to massive corruption and a narrowing of focus by so called law enforcement agencies. When a drug bust carries more time than capital murder, which is often the case, you know that the system is useless. I don't have any short term solutions, other than immediate repeal of all criminal penalties for the sale and possession of drugs. That one thing would reduce the violence, stigma, and danger by so much that the rest would seem a small problem. Addicts would be able to seek help without fear. People who used and were personally responsible (in my experience, the vast majority of drug users) don't run the danger of getting shot or getting a vein full of Drano. It's the only short term solution that makes any sort of sense, and the evidence of it's success lies in Holland.
The difference between Ross and a pharmacist is that a pharmacist is simply following the instructions of someone who took an oath look after the medical interests of the patients they see while ross was looking after the interests of drug dealers who only wanted to make money and were not looking after the interests of their customers (other then the fact that they would get a good "high"

So, quantitatively, no difference at all. Just a different market demographic.

Also, pharmacists and doctors both are more often looking after the interest of their actual customers (the insurance companies) than their patients. It's not general, but it is wide spread. By your argument, a "street pharmacist" is by far the more honorable of the two, as they are neither using the Nuremberg defence or actively suppressing the true effects of their product.
A doctor swore to look after the best interests of their patients. The insurance company does pay the bill to the doctor however the insurance is contractually obligated to do so when the patient incurs these charges. A doctor could lose his license to practice medicine if he does something that is not in the best interest of his patient. The pharmacist is only following the directions of a doctor.

A drug dealer on the other hand runs a business that gets people to be repeat customers by getting them addicted to drugs. They will do things to prevent them from kicking their addiction (for example by offering free/discounted drugs when someone cannot pay).

So drug dealers are pretty close to doctors then? That's kind of what FattyMcButterpants(lol) said, isn't it? I know my Dr. gives me free samples of drugs to try out before I buy them. He usually doesn't give me free samples of heroin or morphine though.

Even the things that are built on Bitcoin are technically Altcoin offshoots. Bitcoin 2 tech such as Counterparty and Mastercoin are in the Altcoin section. I don't think core Bitcoin users know what to think about the new "improvements" to Bitcoin. If they embrace anything other than core Bitcoin somehow they feel like they're cheating on their lover. Or it could be as simple as they are sitting on a boatload of btc and they want the price to skyrocket before they sell. Of course, they'll never admit that because that's cheating too. I had a big argument with a old timer VIP once that was preaching about Bitcoin should never be sold because its going to be worth $10,000 each someday. All I could think to tell him was, "if you really believed that why did you give 50 of them away to this forum Mr. VIP big shot - do you regularly give your favorite forums $500,000"? I've always believed if the core Bitcoin devs sit with their thumbs up their asses long enough someone will come along and develop something that the people like more. That may be happening now.

I don't really care about altcoins (I do hold litecoin private keys). I'm a K.I.S.S. kind of guy. I think it's better to focus on doing one thing really well before trying to add all kinds of fancy bells and whistles. I think a decentralized ledgers best use case is primarily as money.

You see, that's the problem with innovators and mover/shakers, they don't know when to stop innovating and just be mechanics. Coders are mostly innovators. They can't be satisfied with just maintaining/perfecting someone else's design.

Bitcoins best use is simply being money that you can effectively shove in the receiver of a phone and have it spit out 10,000 miles away instantly. That's something that you just can't do with any other kind of money. Bitcoin does that well. The problem is that's not good enough for coders/innovators. They are hell bent on making Bitcoin replace pocket change, stocks, bonds, credit cards, debit cards and those little handi wipes that keep your butt good and clean. Businesses are taking over Bitcoin. They will temper innovation and make Bitcoin work perfectly for what it is first and foremost. Except that kook Patrick Byrne, he seems to be looking for handi wipes.

I think it is happening and and lets be honest, guys like Amir Taaki must have left the Bitcoin foundation for a reason and now they're off developing their own stuff which looks much more interesting than Bitcoin in it's current state. Adding to that you have the fact that there are lots of lobbying interests and governments all trying to lean on Bitcoin in general I'd actually say that Bitcoin is looking less appealing these days.

It'll be very interesting if we ever see an altcoin reach 1BTC on the exchanges or at least get close.

I think litecoin has been nipping at the heels of Bitcoin for a long time. XCP is rising faster than anything I've observed yet. The big shocker in the alts for me is Dogecoin. It's a stupid gimmick coin and it has a market cap of $23.5 million!

Bitcoin has the infrastructure and name recognition. Bitcoin introduced the world to cryptocurrency. Now that the worlds cryptocherry has been popped, will the world marry Bitcoin and live happily ever after or will Bitcoin get jilted for another coin with a bigger pe.............

Wow this thread just reminded me, what ever happened to Phinnaeus? Did he say wether he was gOing out did he just vanIsh one day?
He needed a loan from BurtW and used his account as collateral. From the looks of it he has not yet repaid the loan and I would not be entirely surprised if the account has since been sold

How much did he get for the account?
IIRC it was a 2.5 BTC "loan"

It does not appear the loan has been repaid as the account has still not logged in for several months. I would assume at this point that the loan is in default. The account also has much less positive trust then it previously did (I believe it has a lot more previously).

Bruno needed two and a half Bitcoins so bad he hocked his account? I find that really hard to believe. He had thousands of btc at one point and multiple ASIC miners.

I've yet to mine a single satoshi with any type of bitcoin mining rig.

Didn't you lose over 1000 coins to Davout? When Bitcoin100 first started you were giving out whole Bitcoins to honor the pledges of anyone that defaulted. You must have been sitting on a fat stack of btc to be able to do that. If you never mined, even with the miners you got for free, where did you get all the coin? Did you buy them?
5228  Other / Meta / Re: Is this still a Bitcoin forum? on: October 19, 2014, 03:21:06 PM
That's true actually Tongue it must be because altcoins have got some pretty interesting projects going on now.

Even the things that are built on Bitcoin are technically Altcoin offshoots. Bitcoin 2 tech such as Counterparty and Mastercoin are in the Altcoin section. 5229  Other / Meta / Re: Is this still a Bitcoin forum? on: October 19, 2014, 02:47:36 PM
Well let me put it this way, it's fine just talking about it, but when you start trying to actively do something about it then we'll have a problem, it's like religious people trying to force the government to stop gay marriages so if I catch you trying to PM Admins to go and start banning altcoin developers etc. because they post too much that's going too far.

I'm watching you -_-

I think your drinking and posting. At no point did anyone suggest taking action against altcoins. I think it's funny actually. When I first came here you would be taken to the Bitcoin town square, raped and beaten for even mentioning an Altcoin. Now it's the biggest thing on the forum.

I mentioned once when Litecoin just came out that I was mining them on the free CPUs of my Bitcoin miners. Oh my God, I thought I was going to be chased down and crucified for my heresy. Funny how time changes things around. Pretty soon this forum will be called cryptotalk and Bitcoin will have a little subsection at the bottom of the list.

Well he was so reckless with his money that he gave away 100k to TBF only ~6 months ago. He has not logged in for several months and is posting under a new name which is generally accepted to be him.

In theory the loan could have been for more, however I hear a rumor that he had posted that he needed 2.5 BTC, then shorter after this Burt had given him positive trust that says he risked 2.5 BTC. I think it is somewhat speculation and somewhat hearsay but I am pretty sure this is what happened.

Wow, that's crazy! I'm going to have to call him as find out what's up.

Are you even still selling this? This whole chain of replies have drifted on a tangent completely.

No, it's never really been for sale. Read above.

Either that, or its been sold and the new QA is holding true on the original QA's position in this matter in order to maintain the plausible deniability.

Hopefully we will never know.

BTW this new QA has almost as good of a sense of humor as the old one!  Not an easy task.

LOL - well, thank you. I studied his magnificence for months to master it.

Neither would I. Just because you post something you wrote in a different thread six months earlier it absolves you of the probability that you wanted to sell your account? It does not.

Yes, it does. If you have the ability to think it through. I have said I refuse to trade with anyone, take money from or give money to anyone on this scummy forum - ever. I can't be scammed and I can't be labeled a scammer.

You would have to be a fool to buy my account because anyone caught selling, trading or taking money from anyone would instantly be identified as the purchaser of the account. If someone bought the account and upheld my rule of not trusting any of you scumbags then the account sale was harmless anyway. Of course, no one is stupid enough to buy a worthless account.
I am sure that it has some level of value as it could participate in a signature campaign. Plus anytime someone looks at your account they see the work "hero" which means something to some people.

Your account could easily be labeled a scammer (although there might not be any truth to it) as anyone can give negative trust and anyone can say (almost) anything they want on here.

I do agree that there are a lot of scams on this forum and doing business is very risky.

Nope, if you read the link I posted you will see I refused to even take a tip on this forum or donate it to charity. Anyone that knows me knows I would never advertise the stupid shit I see in signatures on this forum.
