5241  Economy / Economics / Re: Why exactly did Elon want to buy Twitter? on: November 07, 2022, 09:20:07 AM
Seems it’s official. However I am puzzled as to why he bought it in the first place.

For one he overpaid for it because looking at tech stocks like Facebook, it’s value would be probably less than $20 a share compared to the $54.20 he paid for it. So he really must have a big interest in it.

Anyone know why? Is it because they banned Trumps account? Is it because it’s censored too much and he wants it to be more decentralized ?
The reason Elon Musk bought Twitter is not so important, the reason is childish and borne of greed. He wanted to control more things, especially a communication platform, and Twitter could only be his reasonable target as Facebook and top others would never sell their platforms to him.

This started as a play thinking Twitter would not take him seriously, but the opposite was the case as they dared him into action. And perhaps, maybe because of shame and ego, he proceeded before trying to make a U-turn giving excuses as if it was child's play. Yet Twitter took him accountable.

I knew he would never win in court!

A horrible and unreasonable idea of the IP blocking initiative.

If you are keeping funds that security of itself specifically needs IP address allowance, you truly should reflect on whether you should keep such an amount on a casino or not. 2FA for security measures is enough, for casino scale. IP address limitation requires users have a static IP address, which only a few people may have it. Plus, this is a casino, not an exchange or store/keeping funds-oriented platform.
This is often optional, but I hope such a person taking this step should rethink, or else regret might happen in the end. The issue of restricting access to a certain IP did not just start, it started over 2 decades ago with some trading and sports betting sites, but it has dwindled to the extent that you hardly hear about it anymore. This is because its disadvantages outweigh its advantages and might kick the account owner out when access is so desired.

Also, the initiative might be ill to many as you would hardly see a country's IP that is not dynamic, so what is the use for that? It's better to use the combinations of other protective options, if you like, use all that is provided by the site.

5243  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA 2022 world cup on: November 07, 2022, 08:47:11 AM
I have no idea what the exact reason is, but now Argentina is suddenly the big favorite behind Brazil. They are even estimated so highly by the bookmakers that they have approximately the same odds as Brazil. They have now passed France. Does anyone have an explanation for this? They now get up around 6.00 and for a long time they were around 10.0
I can't remember that special things happened that made Argentina suddenly a top favourite. Messi has gotten into a bit more form lately, could that have something to do with that? France has made little impression, but we have seen more often that practice matches (Nations League) mean nothing.

I have always considered Argentina as the only team that is capable of challenging Brazil in the 2022 World Cup. I was surprised to see France being given better odds when compared to Argentina. But now sportsbooks have adjusted the odds, since France is in very bad shape. Both Paul Pogba and N'Golo Kanté are out of the world cup and it will have a big negative impact on the prospects of France. On the other hand, the Argentina team is intact, as the injuries to Dybala and Messi are not that serious. Angel Di Maria is also recovering from his hamstring injury.

Argentina no doubt have messi but as a team they are not strong enough to win the WC. I think Chances this time are with Germany and Brazil but we can never preict with certanity that who will lift FIFA WC.
If Argentina only relies on one player, it is likely to lose, but if Argentina relies on team strength, I am sure that I will win this FIFA, but that is just my opinion. I don't think it's only Germany and Brazil but there are still France, Spain and Holland to go through to become champions, it's very difficult to predict this match because many countries are very strong to become FIFA champions.
I don't believe that Argentina relies on one player, they have a good team too, so Messi is just a player in the team, and he can't do it alone. Have you forgotten what they did in the 2021 Copa America? They are good contenders in this year's world cup. Only that they can't still win the cup, but they can reach the semi-final. My winners are within Germany, Brazil and Spain, I don't think I can get it wrong this time. I hope Germany will not be overconfident as they did in 2018.
5244  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: November 07, 2022, 08:39:41 AM
Arsenal is getting all the lights right now with its successful matches so far. At the opposite, Spurs and Chelsea are declining. Liverpool is recovering slowly and ManU is a weird team with weird results every round. You never know when they play good and when not.
For the Newcastle case, they are getting popular in some areas especially in KSA since they own the club. Their good results made them third while moving silently and steady.

As I predicted earlier, the Gunners will win this london derby. they appeared dominant, a number of opportunities were created by Arsenal in the defense of Chelsea. however, in the end only one goal was created. I think Arteta's troops have gradually formed a strong mentality in every crucial match they have gone through. As a result, the Premier League leaders were taken back by the Gunners.

Manchester United, it seems that the absence of Bruno Fernandes, in this match really had a big influence on the attack that was built by Manchester United. I am optimistic, Man United will initially win this match. too bad, out of my 3 bets for the Premier League. only Man United didn't live up to my expectations.
I never doubted the winning of Arsenal's match against the Blues, I knew they had the chance to win since Chelsea has not been performing well compared to the gunners that are in form this season. Chelsea give it a shot too, but they were overpowered because their opponent has the morale. Nonetheless, it was a good match for both sides, unlike Man U which had yet another disgraceful match with Aston Villa. They tried in their last 5 matches, but who knows if this will begin their losing streak?

5246  Economy / Economics / Re: Rebuttal: Rich Mindset vs Poor Mindset on: November 06, 2022, 11:50:46 AM
I will express a very simple thought - people are not divided into "poorly thinking" and "rich thinking".
There is :
- people who are satisfied with everything (poverty, average level, wealth in inheritance)
- people who want to live better. But these are divided into those who:
-- looking for ways and solutions to achieve the goal
-- looking for excuses why he is poor/unhappy/....
I think these statements lack more information such as under "People who want to live better." there should be people who try their best to live better but lacks the resources and assistance to do so. There are people, especially in the low-class tier that would do anything and are the most hardworking people, but they lack the resources or assistance to be able to go up even at least middle class.

Well, in general, this is also said "- people who want to live better. + -- looking for ways and solutions to achieve the goal" Smiley
Although I still agree!
It is foolish to deny that starting a "project to improve your life" with absolutely empty pockets, zero knowledge, without understanding how and what to do is more difficult than, for example, having at least knowledge! Of course, for such people, the path to a better life will be more difficult, more thorny. But this gives an advantage later - they value knowledge, diligence, perseverance, purposefulness much more highly, they have a higher level of "survival among their own kind." And what is important - they deserve a lot. At least they did not end their lives "at the bottom of the glass" or in a drug haze, hiding from difficulties
The path the poor have to endure in this life is so harsh to the point that the rich might think otherwise if the tables turn against them. I like to face the reality as the privileges of the rich is the only reason why motivators would say they are better, whereas they only seem so because they have the resources under favourable environment.

I completely agree with the op. I hate this whole 'rich mindset, poor mindset' thing because it's extremely ignorant of the privileges that some people are just born into and very unfortunate circumstances that others have to deal with. To add a bit of nuanced view to the overall good points the op raised:
- of course, if you're born poor, it doesn't mean that you have a great active mindset, are eager to learn and the only thing stopping you is your unfortunate circumstances;
- if you're rich, it doesn't mean everything will be handed to you and the only thing stopping you is your mindset.
Nobody says that everyone is the same within a broad category of people or that everything is easy for someone. It's just that it's very important to take a moment to recognize that tons of things depend on the country, family, wealth you're being born into. It starts extremely early on and continues throughout your life (the preconditions plus sometimes some random fortunate or unfortunate events). And yes, there are inspiring stories of people that get out of terrible circumstances, beat the odds and become wealthy. But it's absolutely unfair to point at such cases and say that everyone has got a shot and that privileges aren't real. Life is very different for many people, and it's important to understand that equal amount of effort can lead to extremely different results because of the circumstances.
A very simple example from my life: I've seen kids in a village who are average and overall don't mind learning new things at school, but they are forced by their parents to look after their younger siblings as well as do things like grow vegetables and sell some stuff on the markets on the weekends when they are teenagers. It's really hard to follow through with learning when you are forced to do many other things which are time-consuming. Similarly, I taught at a fancy private school where kids were taught very well and where teachers always helped the kids to understand things, tried making it interesting to them, and where you could easily request a private lesson for a teacher to help you with your homework. So the same average kids (who are not very eager to learn but are generally okay with leaning new things and doing homework) of course didn't have to take care of their siblings (because there are expensive nannies for that) nor sell produce or grow veggies (because they live in a big city and their parents are very wealthy), and they also have very nice teachers sharing knowledge with them. Equal intellectual capabilities, eagerness to learn and effort would lead to one kid barely knowing anything and another learning quite a lot and then, most likely, go to a good uni because of both knowledge and ability of parents to pay for their education.
This is a very thoughtful response and explanation. It shows you see it just the way it truly is.

That money and privilege though can positively affect many things if it's used correctly. With money comes better education, better nutrition, better social life, connection, etc. I'm not saying the poor can't compete with the rich, but they are already in a disadvantageous position compared to the rich. Maybe these situations affect mindset, but mindset alone won't mean a damn thing in the real world. Success is a combination of many factors, including luck.

The more beneficial mindset for the poor is the realization of their disadvantageous position. Therefore, they must try to push their limit to be competitive: work more, study more, and win just like in the anime. But, I've seen enough poor people stop trying and only demand "equality" dragging rich people down, and destroying the economy.
Well said, and I tried my best to understand you fully. Yet, the subject matter is about generalizing our perception about who is better between the rich and the poor. While my point was borne from the fact that if the same conditions are metered to the two classes, the poor would thrive better than the rich in general. I have seen the poor beating the rich in quizzes and debates in schools, and even in the labour force, they are the epitome of the brain of companies despite the conditions they grew with. If the poor have more opportunities, they do better, not that they are not dullards, they are only disadvantaged. What annoys me is how people online make it look the other way round.
5247  Economy / Gambling / Re: Vulnerabilities in gambling websites in past on: November 06, 2022, 08:34:59 AM
Here's some similar scenario but this one only talks about 35 BTC.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1340581.0

It was on Rollin.io which is already dead or down as of this moment.Nothing on this world is unhackable no matter how tough the security would be. Tongue

But in the case of the casino, once it's hacked that's the end of that casino, only big casinos offer refunds or protect their player's money compared to exchanges where they can do a refund and insured their trader's money, I don't think there's the same guarantee that they can offer that they will do a refund.
Real world Casino or online Casino? If its online Casino then they are not safe, there should be a form of reimbursement if hacks happen, its hard to see any gambling platform have any collateral damage fund aside, this is why such platforms are more risky than crypto trading platforms.

Casinos will not refund lost money due to hacking incidents.
This is where I have issues with gambling websites, why won't they refund lost funds? If hacking is a popular issue that gambling platforms have they should have come up with a plan to have damaged funds aside, this does nothing but improve their reputation, this is why I won't ever stop using Binance.
It's total nonsense for casinos to claim your account is hacked and would not reimburse you for the amount stolen. You are not the owner of the site and the security features therein, so how are you supposed to be responsible for the protection of the account?

I believe they are liable in all senses, but they will be giving excuses. Who knows, they might even be the ones that stole the money in the pretence of hacking.
5248  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it cheaper to send Bitcoin or Ethereum directly? on: November 06, 2022, 08:27:19 AM
Not counting the lightning network obviously, because anyone I guess could create a lightning network for any coin.

I already know the answer but please humor me because I'm talking to some other guys who are convinced the opposite of what I'm saying is true.
I don't think anyone sensible should scold you for a gentleman's question, after all, we are a community of education/information here and you might truly be a newbie in the world of cryptocurrency. Bitcoin transaction fees are way lower than that of Ethereum, to the extent that they might be more than 10 times lower in normal circumstances.

This is why I only like Ethereum for investment but can never use it for transactions where I have Bitcoin as an option.
5249  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Minimum deposit and minimum withdrawal. on: November 06, 2022, 08:15:54 AM
However, I totally dislike the aspect of limiting withdrawals, one should be able to withdraw lesser than $1 if possible.

Even fiat casinos have a minimum withdrawal amount.

I don't see why gambling sites should allow less than or around $1 as a minimum withdrawal.

Even stablecoin transfer has network fees, how that $1 or lower can be accommodated? Gamblers should already know and understand that there's always a minimum withdrawal amount but as long as it's not that high, that should be fine.
I guess you should learn how to decode figures of speech, or perhaps you should read what I wrote with understanding before replying. What is crucial in my post was for casinos to abolish the minimum withdrawal restrictions, even if it could go below $1, I don't care. If you are defending casinos in this regard, what about forex brokers that are allowing a withdrawal as low as $1? Of course, you would have calculated your fees with it, which is way better than depriving me of an amount lower than $5 even if I am so in need of money.

Some have lost their little money in quest of trying to meet casino requirements, this is ill to me.
5250  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: High roller looking for KYC-FREE casino on: November 06, 2022, 08:05:12 AM
jeez, money laundering is a non factor when gambling with BTC. Sending BTC to a casino actually makes bitcoin more "dirty".

There's no good reason for a casino to hold funds when requesting KYC, yet they all resort to these shady practices. I have been requested enhanced KYC by most of banks and my funds are never frozen or held if I refuse to complete the KYC.

this thread took a weird turn, not sure if it's full of spam trying to get post counts of non gamblers up or people actually believe bitcoin is washed in casino's (
You went too far there! Stop attacking people if you don't have something constructive to say. How could you mistake the decentralization of Bitcoin for an asset? By sending your Bitcoin to a casino does not prove anonymity either, it only indicates that you sent a money asset to the casino, so they have all the reason to ask for your KYC in that sense. It's a different issue if you are dealing with a decentralized company, but not in this case.

I agree that casinos have shady deals, yet you have to accept their terms and conditions if you want to deal with them. Conclusively, you are so wrong that banks don't freeze accounts if you lack documentation, that's an international practice. So far you can't get your money out until you fulfil the documentation, what is that?

5252  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How are Online casino's and sports betting platforms coping? on: November 05, 2022, 02:48:34 PM
Online casinos and sports betting platforms are big businesses like we all know, and currently considering the economic situation of things around the world many businesses are affected and have been taking measures to cut costs in terms of reducing staff, taking loans etc to still be able to sustain operations. How do you think online casinos and sports betting platforms are adjusting to manage the situation?
The truth is that I do not run online casinos or sports betting sites, but one thing that is sure is that they are coping well. This is evident with more betting sites opening every time. Even this year, many had opened already, so it means they are doing well.

However, it is good that you considered the economic situation of the world, but I don't think it would affect gambling sites so much. Some gamblers might only reduce their stakes, yet many will always come to bet because of greed, addiction or the fun they get through it.
5253  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: waiting to buy lower? on: November 05, 2022, 10:40:01 AM
I bought some crypto. And I have saved some if the prices go lower. However, there is no surety where the market will go. So, analyse it and your financial goals and take risks accordingly.
Now is the right time to buy Bitcoin and some other cryptos, it is also good to speculate at all times for proper trading decisions of the coins. Specifically, Bitcoin had given me the go-ahead to safely buy it for around $18,200 in October, and I am willing to hold it in that direction till next year. The coin has been responsive to the bullish trend but only slowly, who knows where it will peak next year?

What I am sure about is that it has breached a weekly chart trendline upwards, it's time for it to rise.
5254  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Day trading on: November 05, 2022, 10:07:03 AM
Day trading is not advisable in the bear market. either a pro or a novice, trading in the bear market is a nightmare

Day trading didn't work for me, and I always point out that it's hard to make a profit if you are a newcomer in trading, but people should be free to try it. Of course, with the money they can afford to lose! Jumping into something unknown with big money is not a good thing to do! Whatever stories you read or hear from others! Experience needs to be built somehow, but what we don't need is to spend a fortune before we learn something (or we do?!)! Each of our stories is different, it wouldn't be interesting otherwise... I guess.
I must say that I like your expression, yet we still need to encourage one another. Day trading is the riskiest and most demanding of all trading scopes but it is profit-massing at the same time. What I have noticed is that many often misdo the day trading, they would want to make huge money very fast without applying the right caution, not even a good plan and management in place. What I would not support in day trading is the scalping approach, and I am sure that other approaches of the day trading would work if the trader has good strategies to work them out.

And the longer you plan on holding your trade for the day, the better.
5255  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Freedom of speech soon to become a mirage. Will Bitcoin still be here by 2030? on: November 05, 2022, 09:51:08 AM
Freedom of speech and doings has come to stay, nothing would arrest it this time when more countries are adopting democracy as a system of government. As some governments introduce some unfriendly policies, freedom fighters will continue to spring up to counter them. Also, considering the links I read from the OP, I would not take those words seriously unless I could read them from trusted sites or hear them from a better news outlet.

Even at that, Bitcoin will not be affected by all of those, many countries have tried their worst but here is Bitcoin still standing and well appreciated by many.
5256  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: investment in bitcoin should be short term or long term. on: November 05, 2022, 09:07:37 AM
The best approach is to engage Bitcoin in both long and short-term investments, this would help the investors to diversify their portfolios. Trading is very important to maximise the potential of Bitcoin earnings, so it is good to permanently hold half of the investments and always switch sides (buy and sell) with the other half based on daily or weekly speculations.

This plan is important because I don't believe in tieing my assets down for long while I could use them to make more money by buying and selling them at different market conditions.
5257  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Minimum deposit and minimum withdrawal. on: November 05, 2022, 07:30:44 AM
Limiting gamblers to a certain amount with both deposits and withdrawals is bad to me, yet some casinos have their reasons for doing that which we have to consider before choosing them. Good service is my top priority in gambling, and any casino that could offer a minimum deposit of $10 is still okay. Nonetheless, alternatives are out there if that is too much for anyone, except that the integrity of the casino should be well considered first.

However, I totally dislike the aspect of limiting withdrawals, one should be able to withdraw lesser than $1 if possible.
5258  Economy / Gambling / Re: Do you visit the casino while travelling? on: November 05, 2022, 07:21:44 AM
I've never visited a casino while traveling. All I do when I travel is relax and watch the beauty of nature. And in a casino I can't relax and enjoy myself. If you go somewhere, take a break from gambling or do something you've wanted to do for a long time.
I bet you have not been to the right casinos that have everything you might wish for. Many might not know that there are big casinos offline where you would get virtually everything you might need in a place. Even some would host you as a travelling guest, and it would all be fun if you have the money to spare for the service and gesture.

If such travelling is really worth it in the sense of vacation that you know you are going to relax, spend and have much fun, you might talk to your travelling agent when you are going to the US and some parts of Europe.
5259  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A disheartening true life winning story on: November 04, 2022, 01:44:39 PM
Well. lotteries do not make a lot of money. In my experience, lotteries make you lose a lot of money as it's too hard to win in the lottery.
I disagree that lottery companies do not have money, if they don't why are they doing it? This is a business for them and it's a lucrative one as well, which is making them increasingly common these days.

Honestly, as long as the court and the jurisdiction isn't rigged the plaintiff will have a very high chance of winning and possibly earning more than the prize he's supposed to get, given the fact that multiple grievances are put on the name of this website. Goes to show how important it is to know your rights and what you even as an individual is capable of. I could tell you so much about the people in this country losing potential millions of dollars against large corporations and/or businesses just because they are afraid of the power that these companies have, not being aware or insecure about their very own abilities.
I understand the angle from which you are seeing this case, but I believe there is still justice in Nigeria's court in a case like this. No powerful people could intimidate him ian this case. If they had the power, they would have done that before it gets to the court.

The question that I often the case with such scenarios is that, if it were a lose, would they have given the customer any refund, the answer is no.
Never! They will not refund a lost game, but they want to deprive the winner of a won trade. I detest a thing like this, cheating gets me most annoyed.

The question that I often the case with such scenarios is that, if it were a lose, would they have given the customer any refund, the answer is no. A sure should there be any truth to the development of fault by there system, there are those that lost there bets and still can't make any claims on refunds. Hence, its only right that the company pays the customer what he rightly won and stop trying to cut corners. Gambling is a probable stake where you either win or lose and not try to compensate.
Its good his got funds enough to push the case to court and I hope its just enough to sustain the case as long as it would last. Its within his rights and I think he would win.
Yeah, there is some issue. The problem have made the authorities bargain the winning amount settlement at different levels. Now, victim have taken it to the court. Here too he might be offered with certain amount to end the case. I don't know how fair the hearings will take place. This is really bad winning big and unable to get the winning amount.

This is a sad story as we said but I bet that you don't see a case like this in US,Germany or Italy to name a few countries where people win the lottery
They dare not do rubbish with the stated countries, these are sane countries that don't take the rights of their citizens lightly.
5260  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: November 04, 2022, 01:25:56 PM
A difficult match indeed but Arsenal if they want to be staying ahead of City they are forced to win this game.Of course this is no easy task especially after consecutive bad results in the Premier League from Chelsea,at least they saved their face in the Champions League by winning during the midweek game. Most probably is going to end a draw and also most probably going to end both teams to score yes.I personally fancy an Arsenal win though in this weekend derby of London.
Arsenal don't have experience at top of table recent years and it is a big test for them. It is not easy to repeat the 2003 - 2004 season and it is hard to stay at the first position until the season ending. Arsenal of course should try to get as best result as possible from the derby. However, if they lose it, they will still have a lot of things to work.

If they are strong, they will work hard to reclaim the first position in future. The final ending is important because it decides the champions of Premier League in this season. Arsenal can lose a match, even it is a big one, but they can also win a battle in a long season too.
What I don't like is the big mouth of Arsenal fans, aside from that, they deserve to win a trophy this season, especially the EPL. It's indeed a long year since they lifted such a trophy as 03/04 is a way long which is almost 2 decades. Even if they did not win, they have fought well and I believe they would continue to give impressive fights to remain in the top three, which is good. Also, I doubt if Man City would not win the trophy, or better stated that the winning is between Man City and Arsenal.
