so many good resposnses to this topic
thanks for sharing your opinions here.

For me, diverting to other activities or habits is the best thing to forget for a while if you are addicted to gambling. Yet, there are many things to do but think it over what are those suitable in your habit. Do something that will completely different that you might overcome to a gambling habit. Just makes your life busy and try to set yourself new goals and tasks each day. Probably, you will be better able to cope with gambling urges when the right time comes. But you can fully be stopped with in a short period of time.
This is true, and I also experience the same situation when I'm too busy to gamble, or too exhausted, even if I'm not at work. I think people who are addicted to gambling have too much free time in their life. If they want to stop, they should seek challenging activities to keep their mind busy.

Responsible gambling is fine though, I might do it again when I have the time.

definitely, if tired or working too much makes no sense to gamble and this can develop into bad habits afterwards.
5264  Economy / Gambling discussion / What would make you stop gambling? on: February 08, 2020, 11:21:55 AM
are there any things in life that would make you stop gambling?

the two things that come to my mind are:
- making enough or a lot of money.
- finding a passion (even relationshiprelated or life/activity related) that changes your priorities.

but can you see other things than that?
5265  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Real reasons to Why do you gamble? on: February 08, 2020, 11:20:19 AM
Mostly it is because you earn money and the fun comes from winning, the giveaways, prices and jackpot that you might be able to win and thinking about it could end your financial problems. That's why most people gamble, but it comes with a high risk, you either become rich or get bankrupt.

I don't believe that people should use this mindset at all.

You can only go bankrupt from gambling if you bet more than you can afford, and that is definitely not what you should be doing.

If you can't afford to bet a certain, then simply bet less. If you could ever find yourself in a position where you have absolutely no money because you've been gambling too much, then that sounds like a problem.

Keep it low, keep it fun and most of all, enjoy the process. Don't use gambling as a get rich quick scheme or you'll be in for trouble (most likely).

defiitely BALIK.
risk management in trading (and life) totally applies to gambling.

and the main rule of all is:
Never gamble more than you can afford to loose.

faz sentido.

Tongue

exato, o Baboon colocou super bem.

Anyways, this thread is more about time than money. Gambling a lot myself, time-wise, I came to conclusion that even if you gamble just once a week, or once a months, you should never gamble more than 4 hours in a row. With gambling more than that you become exhausted instead of relaxed, and it's bad for you even if you don't lose much money along the way.
not unless you are winning and losing continuously thats why your money are not spending quickly right?we have sometimes a semi luck situation when the bet is winning and losing evenly so the more we are staying in the Gambling table.

and if we win enough?then that is the right time to get out and find way home.

Yes, normally it's not only losses, because people rarely hunt for very high multipliers. But if you are hunting for 9900x in dice, for example, you can spend hours without hitting it. And even if you lose less than $2 in the process, you lose a lot of time and a lot of your energy, and that's not good. I use gambling for relaxation, but if I gamble for too long, it can end up being more exhausting than a day of hard work.

actually, it's better losing money than losing time
you can always work and recover the money but time is really scarce, you can never recover it.

that's why prioritizing is so important in life.

And that's why it's better to stick to gamblings that are related to you career. I probably won't spend too much time "gambling" on things I have no I interest in.
If you are a real farmers for example, it's better  to bet/focus on local weather prediction/betting sites or bet/focus on food price prediction.

curious
I didnn't even know there were betting markets sites for weather or food price.
are these on crypto or fiat? are they only in some locations or more globally distributed (like with many markets)
5271  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your gambling system? on: February 07, 2020, 11:28:22 AM
would be lovely to see a spreadsheet comparring win rates between different strategies.

Every single system despite "triple bet after loss instead of double" was worse than regular martingale and literally every system was worse than single bet system (all your wallet in 1 bet. Double or go home broken). So i don't see a reason to use them/rank then in spreadsheet. They are all worthless.

As Haunebu said. Using systems will only boost your fun factor if you like it.

Using systems is better than gambling randomly in my opinion primarily for the sake of fun.

makes sense
so is it a consensus that triple bet should be the new martingale?

so interesting how simmilar risk management is in trading and in gambling
even being different and trading having the need of more skill than gamblers, risk management could be applied to both, starting from the basics of never investing more than you're ok with losing to more advanced concepts.
5272  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ETH-based descentralized casinos on: February 07, 2020, 11:25:44 AM
With the raise of DeFi and solutions like Pooltogether I wonder how I haven't seen some ETH casinos with good reputation where you can simply connnect your wallet via metamask and play games.

are there solutions like that alreadyor nobody came up with it?

So far there are no popular gambling sites like that any eth developer can do that for the Eth community but if you are a gambling operator you would like to target as many holders as possible and not only investors of Eth so your profit will not be restricted on one community if gamblers it's not profitable for gambler operator then.

ETH's network congestion is to be blamed for that. Inchain gambling is quite famous for Tron and there are many popular gambling dapps on Tron blockchain. Tron of course was intended to act as a gambling token and that's not a surprise. EOS dapps are the next popular in gambling for their agility. And even though being one of the most used coins, there are no successful gambling dapps on Ethereum.

actually even when the network is clogged the fees are not higher than 0.03 USD
there are some gambling dappps but you're right, not many

let's see what the future will bring
a lot can change.

~~

Estilo uniswap pool.
5274  Local / Brasil / Re: Sobre o halving e as expectativas on: February 07, 2020, 09:30:51 AM

https://www.coindesk.com/documents-suggest-tether-has-fiat-funds-to-back-stablecoin-report

5277  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How often do you gamble? on: February 06, 2020, 01:28:35 PM
Realistically, I don't think it matters how often somebody gambles.

Few people gamble so frequently that they don't have the time to take care of the important things in life, e.g. their job, health and family.

What is more important is how much, as a fraction of the total income that people gamble. Above a certain fraction, this can be considered a problem.

Keep it low guys and enjoy the process!

interesting point of view.
above which fraction would you consider it a problem?
5%?
3%?
maybe even more than 1%?

would it be ok for a person in a given time to gamble with more than 50% or their monthly income?
what if they already have financial freedoom and enough cashflow to pay for all their expenses for the next 15 years?

too many questions
too little time to answer it.
5278  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ETH-based descentralized casinos on: February 06, 2020, 01:26:58 PM
The idea is not new.

Who doesn't like a decentralized form of gambling?

But there is no massive call or demands for that and crypto-gamblers still prefer the usual way which is choosing a much reputable site-deposit-play-withdraw. And to those persons or groups that are planning to build a site like that, gamblers should also see that they are serious in promotions and marketing.
Maybe not on Ethereum platform but they have some gambling dapps, On TRON and EOS they have decent volume with Decentralized Gambling Sites. Just like this one on Tron https://888tron.com/ But of course, do your own research about this site. To OP you can find the full list on https://dappradar.com/
great comment, thanks @LbtalkL
the link with the Dapp list is super usefull and definitely related to what I was talking about.

will look into it
thanks a ton.
5279  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Win a Presidential plane... on: February 06, 2020, 01:25:04 PM
That's a lot of money, if he manage to sell those ticket for $25 each he'd get 150M but those average citizens wont probably be interested because they have to spend money to store it, maintenance and pay a pilot to fly it and you'll only get 1 in 6M chance to win it. Why not just do a bidding with airline companies to raise and to sell it much more easily or collect proper taxes from business in their state and eliminate drug cartels that's destroying their economy.

the idea of selling to airline companies is definitely better.
I talked about ho stupid would be to buy an airplane if you can't mantain it on an earlier post on this topic.

regarding eliminating drug cartels: politicians have skin in the game and earn with the prohibition, only effective way to end the war on drugs (which is really stupid, btw), is legalizing and decriminalizing.

that's a really interesting post.
would be lovely to see a spreadsheet comparring win rates between different strategies.

but trust me:
if you find a way that the casino don't have an edge they'll figure it out at some point and change the system.

even if you win, the true winner is always the house.
