what's with bitcoinwisdom removing bitstamp from the top exchanges? little hasty, no?

nah, you guys can't even get it down to 440, let alone the bottom back in April @340
i think if a rally materialized when we approached $500, we had a good chance to break this bear market. but the truncated 5th is very weak. very weak momentum at the top. i think we have a high probability of seeing sub-$440, and a pretty good chance at seeing $300s again.
|
|
|
looks like 440 will hold
hmm, that would be nice. i'd really like to see a reversal. i'd really like to load up my sacks and walk away from the charts for a while. but this bear market is relentless. and everything about the rally over the past few days says "correction" to me.
|
|
|
that's a pretty weak trend line. i prefer to avoid blatant violations of the trend such as the one we see in the $340 spike. $440 will be painful when it breaks, though. i think we'll bounce off it then break through. after that, the flood gates may open.

|

So I see you had a similar count (*cheer*), ignoring if my correction-waves had any validility. But now iv entered range of i and this makes this count invalid, not? Or did we have a failed wave v?
in my count on huobi, we had a truncated wave v. you can count 5 subwaves on the 15m time frame, we failed to make a new high, then pulled back. so that was my take. it is still valid in EW terms, to my understanding. i believe this completed ABC and the down we saw last night/this morning is part of a new wave. down trend to commence, imo.

"burning a certain amount of bitcoin" --> did i miss something? what does this mean exactly? are coins actually being lost? i won't lie, this is going right over my head apparently.

It's hard to say.. the price is reacting different to the drops these days. Where you would have a guaranteed bounce before, nothing happens now. I think a lot of daytraders left and were replaced with algos. Also the increased number of exchanges has probably put a damper on the movements.
what would be the specific effect of the bolded? i would think that bots/algos still have a similar net effect. i don't think day traders have much effect on the market. they are just trading the waves and chasing the bigger moves set off by whales.

Isn't the objective of a speculative trader to buy LOW and sell HIGH?
I first bought some btc back in November before the massive rush to over $1k.
Now, more than ever is a seriously incredible opportunity to BUY.
How are more people not buying coins at this bargain prices?
Either something is fundamentally wrong here and we are heading towards $3xx or a MASSIVE rally is about to pop off.
Lets here what you got to say boys.
why does something have to be fundamentally wrong to go to $3xx? i think we'll see a massive rally, eventually.... but i'm open to it launching from much lower than here as well. by the way, it's spelled "hear". ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

U dont get btc. It has nev3r been about retail. That is just icing. Its abt international payment primarily b2b and remittance. In the currency race to devalue countries will ztop trusting eachothers currency. And the free nations will pick any alt to the yuan.
fair enough. what makes BTC the obvious alternative? in theory, i could see BTC being used for international settlement of accounts. but in practice, i see no reason why it is the obvious answer.

I would say a wallet is more secure hence the amount of years it takes to bruteforce someones pass
the question was about an online wallet. if you are using an online hot wallet, you are susceptible to browser-based attacks. and since you are connected to the internet, malware applies. the upside to an online banking site is that if you get hacked, the bank generally gives you your money back. ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif)

Bitcoin definitely lost all momentum and interesest from the media. Is this the end of bitcoin? All banks are banning it pretty soonish. Double digits incoming. Back to the old school silk road price's. Has the bubble popped?
yes, the price went down. therefore bitcoin is a failure! ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) it can't just be UP UP UP. the craziness of 2013 had to be followed by some term of consolidation. i still see nothing bearish about the long term, anyway. in the meantime, the blockchain keeps chugging along. ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif)

whether we hit 300 or 450, that would be a dramatic selloff indeed.
You missed the point of what I said. A vague enough statement always hits the mark. We go down to $530? "Dramatic selloff confirmed". We go down to $300? "Definitely dramatic selloff". We bounce back from $550? "Kind of a dramatic selloff". (For the record, $530 seems a good candidate imo). i think the point is this: if you say it's bearish and get a selloff you are right. if you say it's bearish and get rally you are wrong. attacking vagueness means nothing in that case. a drop 20 points to 550 is not dramatic. ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)

recouping your money through mining at this point is probably not going to happen. i suspect this has happened to a lot of miners and altcoin investors. sad times. ![Cry](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cry.gif)
