5261  Economy / Gambling / Re: Would you be up for a Poker League for members of this forum? on: January 05, 2016, 12:47:53 PM
I would be interested in joining a poker league but what software or site would we be using?

I'm trying to get us a sponsor.

As for the tournament itself, I thought about at at least 3 a week two times a day (for different time zones), and at least one of them should be a freeroll. Depending on the place you finish you would be awarded points for the Poker League, and in the end of the month prizes would be paid for the top players in the League.

Maybe you can send a message about your idea to betcoin.ag or betcoin.tm . I'm sure one of those two sites will happy to support your idea, because it will bring more traffic to their site. And for sure I'll be there when the poker league is ready to run Smiley

Yep I'm already in negotiations, so everything should be up and running very soon I hope. Stay tuned!
I'm pretty confidant we will have this Poker League!
I would definitely be up for that, I hope you can make a deal with them soon, so we can get this going Smiley
I'd love to see a tournament with at least 50 people or more, but I don't know if that would be feasible.
5262  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and its Implications on: January 05, 2016, 12:43:44 PM
probably most of us consider bitcoin it simple. bitcoin fact that complicated, was so much complexity can be developed with bitcoin outstanding.
Bitcoin is quite simple if you don't talk about blockchain and mining. Other than that, it is really easy to use.
Yeah I have to agree, once you get used to using Bitcoin for transactions or to make purchases, it's as easy as any other payment processor.
Plus you have the option of running that 'payment processor' on your desktop, which enables you to transfer money extremely fast compared to online banking or even Paypal.
5263  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Dice game strategy? on: January 05, 2016, 12:39:56 PM
I'm not a big fan of strategies such as Martingale or similar ones.
I usually play for like 0.05 BTC and auto bet with 0.0005 BTC on x150 return.

5265  Economy / Economics / Re: Block reward halving and BC price on: January 05, 2016, 12:34:05 PM
Currently new BC are created worth of 1.4 million dollars every day. If we assume that the current need for BC is worth of 1.4 million dollars a day and BC supply halves, shouldn't that mean, that price should double? Or has that allready been baked in the current price?

It's definitely not baked in the current price. During 2016 we can definitely achieve to see the price double from current price point, but it can also go much higher and bring us a new ATH, which would be a great milestone. It has not much to do with the block rewards being cut by 50% and that the price must go up 100%. That's what I consider to be nonsense. It will be the demand and speculation that will be the main driver that will push the price possibly to over $1000 again this year.
I remember reading somewhere that the current BTC price is just how much it should be given the current supply of Bitcoin.
I wish I could find that article again..
5266  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Comic Strips on: January 03, 2016, 06:51:07 AM
Great work, I'm amazed at how much effort you put into this already, you've got an entire series there Smiley
You should host them on a website!

5268  Economy / Economics / Re: #panicselling is so 1995 on: January 02, 2016, 01:29:52 AM
When Bill Gates Windows 95 he made a OS for the 'masses' simple people with no intellect. It was meant for using a pc, no need for understanding it.
Then Satoshi created the Bitcoin protocol and people could mine/speculate on bitcoin

The problem is, bitcoin is not meant for weak hands to sell. It's meant for people to use or not to use.
Not to speculate on. Because.... people whom don't understand it, and try to speculate on it lose loads of money and we.. the community have to deal with it..
I don't agree with this, Bitcoin can be used for whatever people want to use it for. I think for some people, it will only serve as an investment tool and for other people it will serve as a currency.
5269  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: WiP: The Great Bitcoin Thrift Store Treasure Hunt on: January 02, 2016, 01:03:33 AM
I'd be interested in participating in this actually by donating some items. Would cd's and dvd's be of use?
Do you have an ETA on when the website would be finished?
5270  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] World of Bitcoin on: January 02, 2016, 12:58:01 AM
Me and my partner are launching a new website is is intended to be like TBN except exclusive to Bitcoins. I intend to release various bots and other software that will help people passively earn Bitcoin. Check it out http://worldofbitcoin.xyz
Cool, are you planning on doing something special to promote usage in any way? Like signature campaign or some incentive for early members?
It will be quite difficult to get it active and going I think, but the idea is good nevertheless.
5271  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice Python Bot on: January 02, 2016, 12:54:28 AM
Hello,

I would like to use the Primedice API in order to get a python bot.

Does anyone have the code needed to produce the python gambling bot that they could place here in code tags?

Thank you in advance.

Coinhelper

Any reason why python? just wonderin... Anyway here is code from some using python to bot on pd.. https://github.com/nico202/primeDiceBot

NOTE: i have not tested and/or checked the codes for any backdoors or w.e.. i did not made this code nor i recommend it to be used out of the box.. and i take no responsibilty on whatever it may cause. Use it only as your basis..

I use Python because it is one of the few languages I very much enjoy coding.
I have two IDEs which work very well and offer suggestions and improvements as you type if you hit certain keys!
It is also a language that is supported by the most operating systems (and is preinstalled on linux!)

Thanks for the link! That bot on its own works quite well, and I will modfy it to ensure it has only the code I want!
Are you planning on releasing your own modifications? I'd be interested in using a bot like that, plus I'm quite interested in Python myself.

The modifications would probably be useless to you as I am just removing code that I don't necessarily need.

Also, I think I may have breached the time request. Accidently set it to 0.001 seconds... oops!

Do you know any way of rectifying this situation.

Also: If you want a specific change done to the program I can easily do that for you. As it is under the GNU license I can modify all of the code to your personal preference if you would like?

EDIT: I thought that I would add, if you wanted, I can comment on all the code or show you each of the lines individually with an explanation of what it does and how it works, if you would like me to? I can also post anything I create for you on Github and others can learn from it.
I'd definitely want to check out the code if you plan on adding it to Github. Not thinking of any specific features at the moment, as I'm currently playing dice on another site.
But I'm thinking of adjusting the code to add support for multiple dice websites, I'm quite busy atm though so if it's just on Github, I can work on it whenever, or create a fork in due time Smiley
5272  Economy / Economics / Re: China Has a Trick up Its Sleeve on: January 02, 2016, 12:48:35 AM
soo soooo buy litecoin?

i would not be surprised if they are the one behind the litecoin pump too, and because of this i'm expecting the same thign for bitcoin when the halving come

Yes there was a Litecoin ponzi scheme in 2015.
I remember price shot up to $8 I believe and then got dumped.
There was also a video around somewhere which was leaked. I think somewhere in the chinese subforum.

Here an article I've found.
http://www.dailytradingprofits.com/4669/was-litecoin-pumped-by-a-chinese-ponzi-scheme/

Quote
It has recently come to light that a Chinese marketing company has been recruiting Chinese investors into a litecoin “cloud mining” ponzi scheme. The scheme had a price tag of 500 litecoins to enter and promised high returns of passive income.

This is the address of the ponzi scheme, which shows that it had a total of over 9 million LTC valued at around $40 million dollars. There are only 40,694,504 litecoins in existence, which means that this scheme managed to accumulate 22% of all litecoins!

The buying pressure came from over 10,000 Chinese investors which definitely explains why the price shot up so quickly. It could be that the litecoin block reward halving was just an excuse to sell this pump to people.

litecoin is much easier to manipulate. if the same guys will also try to do the same with bitcoin, then they probably can get the price up by $50-$100 at most. which is still a great increase. i only don't like that the price gets dumped down afterwards. these kind of price increases are not what most people are looking for.
You'd need quite a large investment to influence the price like that though... Not saying it's impossible, but unlikely to happen any time soon.
5273  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: decentralization solutions on: January 02, 2016, 12:46:50 AM
What legit solutions are on the table to decentralize mining?

You join a pool because the probability of you personally solving a block is astronomically small? You trust a pool to give you a share because so many other people are trusting the same pool. The pool tracks your work and pays you accordingly.

Can we achieve the same result with tweaked model rather than current pools.

For example, a group miners individually using the best possible mining software, where everyone agrees to pay solved blocks to the group. Then we use smart contracts and proof of work mechanisms to enforce this relationship?

Is this possible? If not, what are the legit solutions to this decentralization problem?

I am not an expert (and so my post and my thoughts cannot be taken as a professional ones) but I don't any difference between the two models. Or at least essentially. The new one proposed is another pool when has not an owner but many such and have no fee like the classic pool. All the other things are the same (at last essentially). If this can be called decentralization we can have the same result if can be created new pools which will steal miners to the others "old" pools using incentives or various bonuses. And we will be at the same situation.

The difference is that with today's pools you have one miner, the pool. That one pool owner is casting a vote for how the bitcoin protocol moves forward for thousands of contributors. In a model with individual miners everyone still votes. I am going to investigate p2pool maybe it is wHat I am referring to.
Yeah p2pool might be a solution to this problem, and I also wonder what the share of solo-miners is. How much are they 'contributing' to decentralization?
FWIW, more people should solo mine in my opinion.
5274  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Bitcoin Will Not Survive", says Jamie Dimon on: January 02, 2016, 12:44:07 AM
This moron makes the point of why bitcoin will survive himself lol.
People want a currency that is immune to the constant changing of
Fiat currency and government manipulation. It allows everyone around
the world to connect without having to worry about exchange rates
and fee's.

I find it hilarious that he actually thinks that governments can actually do anything about it.
Yeah, even if governments would want to do anything about it, it would simply be impossible to do so.
Plus the EU for example looks like it's quite accepting of Bitcoin.
5275  Economy / Gambling / Re: What is the best live casino on: January 01, 2016, 11:24:55 PM
I've always found Bitcasino to be the best one for live games. Friendly dealers and there are usually some other players in the rooms.
5276  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you do with your idle coins? on: January 01, 2016, 11:23:24 PM
I keep a significant portion on gambling sites and the others in cold storage. Gambling sites are a great way of generating almost guaranteed profits due to the house edge. However, not all are trusted. I invest funds mostly in moneypot and the others in satoshidice.
Yeah pretty much the same as me, I'm currently investing Bitcoin and Dash in Crypto-games casino.
Generating some pretty good ROI at the moment.

Haven't tried Moneypot myself, but might try that soon.
5277  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you like Android or ios for mobile Bitcoin transactions? on: January 01, 2016, 11:17:52 PM
Haven't tried any ios apps for bitcoin since I'm not a big fan of the platform.
I'm very happy with Mycelium for Android though, have used it a couple of times for purchases in physical stores.
5278  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin can not replace fiat on: January 01, 2016, 10:12:11 PM
I think BTC can replace fiat sometime in the future, with how technology develops it's pretty possible to see BTC at such a level sometime later.

Stop with dreaming. Bitcoin is an alternative, how hard is this to understand? Fiat currencies will remain as main currency in the world. Bitcoin can't change that.

Possiblities there dude. If you take some long years the world belongs to Barter system Only After that Some of Asian, Greek and Roman Kings started Coin and currency system. As like bitcoin also possible in future Digital world. Adaption and many users day by day in Bitcoin forum is example for that.

You nailed it and there are more chances of Bitcoin replacing fiat  currencies in not a long distant future because nothing is impossible and by looking at the pace at which Bitcoin is growing and getting more popular day by day I am sure soon we will see Bitcoin as a payment option in most of the stores.
I'm also inclined to believe it could be a real possibility, even though it sounds pretty insane at the moment to some people.
But there are still some major obstacles, think of the current confirmation times, they're pretty bad at some times.

5280  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you know whether its your lucky day? on: January 01, 2016, 09:10:52 PM
I think you can call it a lucky day if you more than triple your deposit. Anything less than that, I'd not consider it a lucky day.
It's all about perception though, one man's lucky day could be considered a bad day by someone else.
