Gentlemen, thanks for the explanation
5282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Value of a coin on: August 18, 2014, 07:36:26 PM
What I'm curious about is how the value of a currency is determined.
Is that the exchanges that determine the value of a coin? Or something else?

Let's hope that does not happen.
If the communty is strong enough problems can be solved well.

I follow Magicoin from the beginning (April).
I know the developer is working for months to innovate and improve Magicoin.
I hope he's coming with good news soon. He earns the trust of the community.
I say; take the time you need. After all these months it is not a problem if it takes a few days longer.

Seams very likely, dont know why the recent drop in price, hoping it was a trap for weak hands.
Still hope it goes much higher than 1.5k tho, i got addicted to moon launches so much that 3x gain seams low, i know its insane but i cant help myself Smiley

Its definetly time to put mt.gox and other bad news behind and continue the lunar mission Tongue

If you don't follow the market, I'll tell you what's happening: Bitfenix is an exchange that lets you borrow liquidity and bet on Bitcoin price, when there was that spike around 680$ in June people thought it was the beginning of another bubble and a massive amount of dollars where borrowed for long positions. The trick is that you have to pay interests to keep those orders opened and the more time you keep those orders open the more the price have to rise in order for you to make a profit. Right now the price is plummeting because there's a sort of cascade effect being triggered by orders that are now in a really bad position and these people can't remain solvent forever. As long as there are bigger players in the market who don't care about the price being stagnant or going lower these people will keep losing money. And these big players are really patient, they are waiting for every order to be closed in red so the price gets low enough for them to enter with a strong position on the lowest possible price.

Thanks for the info!
He declin be hard.
I have no problem if he's going to rise again.

I will wait! I think the DEV will give us an update soon!

Anyone know how to get the attention of the pool owner at cryptopoolmining.com?

I have some Magi stuck in his pool and they have ignored my support ticket for 2 days now.
I think the transaction is currently delayed.
I had something similar. Once the new MAGICOIN launched everything will go smoothly and the transactions are processed.

But these coins do not belong on the new chain so don't I have to get them to my original wallet before the swap?  It is really annoying that this pool has a support ticket system in place that they just ignore!  Also have PMed the guy here and nothing, I for one will not be using this pool again...it's very aggravating to be ignored when it comes to my coins!
I understand your irritation. I had the same with my Swissex account.
I'm sure the developer is currently very busy with the launch. I am also sure that he wants to solve this problem for you.
What is the number of coins that you waiting for?
If the problem is resolved, let us know please
Otherwise, I give you some. This is indeed a fine community and we are also here to help each other.

I think the bitcoin value will rise again.
Much is happening in the world right now.
The financial news has been more in the background.
This will probably turn again.

Another reason I think is that people invest money in expensive altcoins. (more expensive than BTC). If the value of those expensive altcoins going to drop a lot of people will fall back on the BTC.

And actually does the BTC fine. There are now many companies, organizations, shops etc where you can pay with BTC.
This number continues to grow. I do not see that happening with the expensive altcoins! For some companies, organizations, shops etc it is indeed a big step to admit BTC in their payment option. The chance that these companies, agencies, shops etc put BTC aside and just switch to another currency is very small.

It looks like this coin is gathering nice community, this will be very interesting to watch and to participate.

It is! You are very welcome? Grin

I agree with your proposal.
Especially with the idea to reduce the total number of coins!
5295  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][XMG] Magi | New POS-II Proposed | Most Secured Distr | Tor Anon | M7 on: August 16, 2014, 06:00:46 AM
It's fine. Better a good start without any problems then a start with problems. There are people who are going to give a reaction here. But there are plenty of examples of coins with a delayed start doing it very good right now. There are also many examples of coins that do start with many problems. These coins have a bad / short future or are already dead.
Against the developer, I would say; do not worry. You're already months working on this coin. I can very well understand that you would like a start without any problems.
I just keep waiting until the time is right.

I think only the developer can give answers to the questions. I think there is much clarity after launch.

After launch?!? The miners should be available long before the launch for everyone to test them on testnet. What kind of shitty launch is this?

I said i thought. not so fast with your judgment please!

The value is about to explode... too many good news without any price increase.

I think things will be fairly calm until the etfs go online. Once that happens things will get crazy.

uh what means etfs?

Exchange traded funds. It's an investment fund with features like passive management and can be traded like regular stocks and commodities. Basically we will see Bitcoin traded on Wall Street.
I think etfs are still an open bet, even if the Winklevoss one seems like it's in a good position for approval these things take ages to be accepted and don't forget still ongoing regulations for btc.

thanks for the explanation! Smiley
