5281  Economy / Speculation / ANXBTC and recent price rise on: May 26, 2014, 06:54:01 PM
-------SPECULATION------------

I noticed one of the newer exchanges, ANXBTC, seems to have expanded into some new currencies. It looks to have been a success across the board. As of writing this the volume of those currencies have exceeded 21 million USD in about a week. The timing of the launch into these countries and the price rise is interesting. But there was something else. The volume in each new ANX currency was strangely uniform. Look at the 10 day totals in each of the newly launched currencies.

-CNY- 6035 Chinese Yuan
-NZD- 6148 New Zealand Dollar
-SGD- 6154 Singapore Dollar
-CHF- 6155 Swiss Franc
-CAD- 6204 Canadian Dollar
-JPY- 6208 Japanese Yen

Total 36904

It seems weird that all those different markets would buy about the same amount of bitcoin. And I don't see a dip in volume among other exchanges. But maybe I'm wrong about that.  I don't know anything about this company, but I hope they are just finding a market. So who is doing these buys; and is this BTC3.5K/day new volume? And what, if any, effect does it have on the price?

5282  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you had any problems with large Bitcoin cashouts? on: May 26, 2014, 05:19:29 PM
Be careful. That amount is above the going rate to have you killed.
If selling in together or in a few chunks, arrange with the buyer to do the exchange in a bank. Just as a meeting place.  I would have a simple receipt for both parties to sign and keep copies of.
You may also consider buying gold. And before turning anything into cash, why not go on a shopping spree?
5283  Economy / Speculation / Re: The rise has stopped.. on: May 26, 2014, 03:08:02 PM
Opinions..?  We've stopped at 580... Roomers about inc heavey BTC drop because bitstamp is insolvent..?

A BTC run up before the bottom falls out?
The next BTC bubble?
As long as we are daydreaming, I'm going with... A new Chinese double secret ban!  Huh
5284  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is bitcoin the reason for world hunger? on: May 26, 2014, 01:46:03 PM
I find that hard to believe. In any case there is a lot more starvation in our future.  Every hour of the day there are more people than the hour before. I hope we don't overshoot K in my lifetime.
I got some bad news. We overshot K long before you were born.
...

I fear your right. We would have reached 2 billion in about 1929. Look at how much growth there has been since!

5285  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin incredible Growth? Why? what happened on: May 25, 2014, 12:32:04 PM
while I'm sure you can get a lot of confident answers to this question, We are all just guessing. The bitcoin economy may be getting too big, complex, and opaque for anything else. Having said that, the price does seem to be following a pattern we've seen before. A massive rally followed by an epic crash followed by price stability. Then, another rally.
5286  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is bitcoin the reason for world hunger? on: May 23, 2014, 08:19:09 PM
Why is K static? I ain't no farmin' expert, but I'm pretty sure yield density in farmed crops has been shooting up faster than farms can be foreclosed on.
It's been a while since my population biology classes. But this is a simplified equation that is used for wild animals. It assumes a static capacity. As you imply, humans have already greatly increased the efficiency of farming and our ability to feed the world. However, that can't go on forever. It may even make a crash worse when it happens.
5287  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Could bitcoin be permanently eliminated ? on: May 23, 2014, 07:13:33 PM
If you bought and deleted half the worlds bitcoins, then you have just spend hundreds of millions of dollars to double the price of my bitcoins.
Thanks!!  Cheesy
5288  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price going up? on: May 23, 2014, 05:45:01 PM
Assuming you are spending at a rate higher than you bought, you can't go wrong. Sure, they may go up more and you could lose out on some gains. But you are still profitable now. You could even replenish the coins your spending and repeat the process over and over. That's what I do. Buy coins ----> spend when they go up -----> buy more coins.  Smiley

5290  Economy / Speculation / Re: After five years, has Bitcoin finally reached price stability? on: May 23, 2014, 05:24:31 PM
I really doubt it. I'm not sure that price stability is even a necessary feature of bitcoin. It may just be volatile.
5291  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do any Bitcoin think tanks exist? on: May 23, 2014, 03:34:30 PM
The lobbyists at MasterCard are thinking as we speak.  Embarrassed
5292  Other / Meta / Re: I did not know. on: May 23, 2014, 03:32:20 PM
ANYTHING you can do with money you can do with bitcoin. There are no rules here about how to spend, loan, gamble, invest, bundle, etc. your money.
5293  Other / Politics & Society / Re: US House Rejects Measure to End War on Terror on: May 23, 2014, 03:29:16 PM
For me the most insulting part is that the people who make these rules never fight. They just send the poor to die for their asset protection. I'd like to see a blowhard like Dick Cheney in combat. At least the Kings in old Europe led their troops into the fray. Our leaders are all big mouth cowards.
5294  Economy / Speculation / Re: URGENT, Bitcoin is on the verge of collapse !!! on: May 22, 2014, 07:16:37 PM
I'm gona necro this thread in 2050.  Grin
5295  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin "Property" & Theft Scenario on: May 22, 2014, 05:39:26 PM
It should be reported to the local police. However no one there is going to know what you are talking about. It's not that they don't want to help, they just wont know what to do any more than you do.  Undecided
5296  Economy / Speculation / Re: What would be the most likely way to destroy bitcoin? on: May 22, 2014, 05:33:54 PM
Do away with net neutrality and allow ISPs to block ports.   Huh

Do you think if something like SOPA came back, it might a similar effect (other countries probably wouldn't, "Ban" the internet.
I am just speculating here. But there are moves going on around the world to fundamentally change the internet. That could include deciding what software you can run, what websites you can visit, what bandwith you can use. A concerted effort to keep bitcoin off the net could make it difficult in some countries. So far no one is suggesting such a ban, but we have seen our rights erode so much that it seems at least possible.

5298  Economy / Speculation / Re: Major western Bitcoin exchanges about to be investigated and probably SHUTDOWN on: May 21, 2014, 07:27:02 PM
Where is the option for the price to go up? If an exchange is shut down for scamming that is a good thing for the economy.
5299  Other / Off-topic / Re: How long do you think it'll be before you eat your first synthetic steak? on: May 21, 2014, 07:18:37 PM
Yuck.  Embarrassed
I would try it for the novelty, but I think I would eat rats before regularly eating that stuff.
5300  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Sudanese Muslim woman sentenced to death for Christian conversion on: May 21, 2014, 07:15:41 PM
The woman was born to a christian woman and married the christian man who coincidentally has an american citizenship to cause a stir, there is probably big money in this for her, she has tried to antagonize the whole world in a political move to play the victim.
So, she is committing to being whipped to death in an attempt to "play the victim"? Why not accept her assertion that she has chosen Christianity as her spiritual path? I believe her captors when they say this is a call from God, and I believe her also.
