OK, I created it.
5302  Other / Off-topic / Re: Which (natural) language should I learn? on: April 16, 2012, 02:57:20 AM
It might be helpful to know if you speak any other languages besides english (and which level)...

I don't speak any other languages.
5303  Economy / Services / Re: BitCoinTorrentz.com - Torrent Download Service on: April 16, 2012, 02:02:56 AM
Very nice site -- innovative use of Bitcoin. I'm going to buy some shares.

I was going to start renting a seedbox because my ISP is supposedly going to take action against BitTorrent users soon, but maybe this will be enough. Downloading the file from your server is pretty slow, though. The ability to select only some files from a torrent would be nice.
5304  Other / Meta / Re: New GLBSE/investment child forum in marketplace? on: April 16, 2012, 01:53:50 AM
Would that apply to bonds and other securities? Actually, either "securities" or "Stocks, Bonds, and Securities" might be good names for the subforum.

"Securities" would be a better name. I'll use that.
5305  Other / Meta / Re: New GLBSE/investment child forum in marketplace? on: April 16, 2012, 01:48:41 AM
What do you guys think of an "assets" subforum to Lending? This seems like the most appropriate categorization, since buying an asset is similar to giving a loan.
5306  Other / Off-topic / Re: Which (natural) language should I learn? on: April 13, 2012, 10:59:36 PM
... so now theymos? What is your decision?

Not totally sure yet. Probably I'll make an impulse decision about it at the last moment. I'm leaning toward French, though.

I'll post here when I've made a final decision.
5307  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A letter to the community from Matthew N. Wright on: April 12, 2012, 02:57:05 AM
Glad to hear it (though I find it a little difficult to believe). Many of your posts are good, especially recently, but I've been annoyed at how frequently you post garbage.

Whenever I see your projects I still think of your initial ridiculous, self-important attempt to start a "Bitcoin Better Business Bureau" and your scamming incident (which was totally your fault and not just a misunderstanding). But my opinion of your projects has been improving recently as you've been acting more thoughtfully.
5308  Economy / Auctions / Re: Advertise on this forum - Round 29 on: April 12, 2012, 12:52:40 AM
Can We bid on Round 29 now?

Yeah, this is the auction for round 29.
5309  Other / Off-topic / Re: Privacy, Google, browsers on: April 11, 2012, 07:56:05 PM
You can turn off that Firefox feature which occasionally gets malware info from Google (it doesn't ping them on every pageload).

Internet Explorer certainly has no Google tracking stuff, and IE9 is pretty decent.
5310  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie restrictions on: April 10, 2012, 10:47:13 PM
When I become a "Hero Member" and have 5 stars? (what is the trigger?)

You must kill the dragon and save the princess.

It may take up to 10 minutes for the board to notice that the dragon is dead.
5311  Other / Meta / Re: Is it possible to ignore a forum thread? on: April 10, 2012, 10:31:00 PM
That's not supported yet. Maybe it will be in the future.

Threads are "ignored" on board pages if you've ignored the topic starter.
5312  Other / Meta / Re: Less stringent communications/time restrictions, please on: April 10, 2012, 09:26:58 PM
The only thing with this is, it deletes your post content if you run into the 20 sec error page. Not sure how easy that would be to fix.

That does suck. I won't increase the limit, then.
5313  Other / Meta / Re: Less stringent communications/time restrictions, please on: April 10, 2012, 09:23:25 PM
Is your communication so urgent that you can't wait 20 seconds? I don't see any need to reduce this. It should probably be increased, actually.

The software doesn't support having different restrictions for different membergroups (and it seems difficult to add support for this in the code), or I would lessen the hourly restrictions for most users. I don't want newbies to be able to send too many PMs, though.
5314  Other / Meta / Re: What happened to https://bitcointalk.org? on: April 10, 2012, 03:03:45 PM
Yesterday, on the front page, https was red and crossed out for me, but the only problem reported when clicking the lock was that the page includes resources that are not secure. Today, all is back to normal. I have no idea what that was about but it seems like the same problem that OP had. Windows 7. Chrome.

There shouldn't be an external resources loaded from the front page. Next time that happens, please send me the page's source.

Notice that detailed stats about impressions are now available!

(This page is somewhat slow.)
5316  Economy / Auctions / Advertise on this forum - Round 29 on: April 10, 2012, 05:02:16 AM
In order to collect more money for the creation of good forum software, the forum is selling ad space in the area beneath the first post of every topic page.

Ads this week will be allowed to contain any non-annoying HTML/CSS style. No images, JavaScript, or animation (no marquee or blinking). Ads must appear 3 or fewer lines tall in my browser. Ads will be prefixed with "Advertisement:". Ad text may not contain lies, misrepresentation, or inappropriate language. Ads may be rejected for other reasons.

There are 10 total ad slots which are randomly rotated. So one ad slot has a one in ten chance of appearing. Eight of the slots are for sale here.

The ad lasts 7 days starting from when I put it up.

Stats

Exact historical impression counts per slot:

Efficacy stats:

Auction rules

Post your bids in this thread. Prices must be stated in BTC per slot. You must state the max number of slots you want. When the auction ends, the highest bidders will have their slots filled until all eight slots are filled.

So if someone bids for 8 slots @ 5 BTC and this is the highest bid, then he'll get all 8 slots. If the two highest bids are 8 slots @ 4 BTC and 1 slot @ 5 BTC, then the first person will get 7 slots and the second person will get 1 slot.

- When you post a bid, the bids in your previous posts are considered to be automatically canceled. You can put multiple bids in one post, however.
- All bid prices must be evenly divisible by 0.5.
- The bidding starts at 0.5.
- The auction end time is 22:00:00 on April 17, UTC. Countdown. (The end time may be extended -- see below.)
- If two people bid at the same price, the person who bid first will have his slots filled first.
- Bids are considered invalid and will be ignored if they do not specify both a price and a max quantity, or if they could not possibly win any slots

If any valid bids occur less than 30 minutes before the auction end time, then the auction will be extended by 30 minutes. If any valid bids occur less than 30 minutes before the new end time, then the auction will be extended again, etc. The time will not extend beyond 6 hours total.

You must pay for your slots within 24 hours of receiving the payment address. Otherwise your slot may be sold to someone else.

Final result:
Slots BTC Person
5 7 aurumxchange
1 7 bitsforcoins.com
2 6.5 wm-center.com
5318  Other / Meta / Re: Members hiding online status on: April 10, 2012, 01:21:00 AM
Are you sure about that?  I can see the last active stat of every member on this thread...  I assume some are hidden (like myself).

Ah, you're right. Whoops. I somehow missed that when I checked it...
5319  Economy / Auctions / Re: Advertise on this forum - Round 28 on: April 10, 2012, 12:41:00 AM
Current state:
Slots BTC Person
4 6.5 wm-center.com
4 6 aurumxchange
5320  Other / Meta / Re: Members hiding online status on: April 10, 2012, 12:38:41 AM
I don't see any reason to prevent that. Most scammers aren't going to care that people know they're online.

But the forum also always gives you the time that I was last active.

Only you can see that stat when your online status is hidden.
