5661  Economy / Services / Forum ad auction on #bitcoin-auction -- Dec 12/13 on: January 05, 2012, 04:36:48 AM
There will not be an ad auction on this forum this week, as I'm not sure yet how many ad slots will be available (I've been thinking of reserving some to advertise the forum software job), and I also don't know whether I will allow style again next week. Instead, there will be an auction on #bitcoin-auction on the 12th or 13th. This will be a fast-paced auction with a small minimum increment.

Post your preferred auction time here. It must be after noon on the 12th and before midnight on the 14th. I'll make a decision in a few days based on feedback.

Less than 20 minutes left. Current state:
3 3.5 2weiX
2 3.5 Goat
3 3 edd

This is consistent with how email works.
5664  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: mtgox is it a mountain, like Fuji-san? on: January 04, 2012, 06:36:55 AM
I think it is correct to say "Mount Gox".
5665  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for someone to create/modify software for this forum [1100+ BTC] on: January 04, 2012, 05:46:35 AM
I'm not picky about that. Having a usable product in 3 months would be nice. 6 months is probably acceptable.
5666  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcointalk requesting donations? Wtf? on: January 04, 2012, 05:25:37 AM
The forum donations are simply mixed in with my regular sends. I'm not moving anything.

Actually, many of the sends are sends to self, which I did to get the "received" amount correct.
5667  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcointalk requesting donations? Wtf? on: January 04, 2012, 05:18:35 AM
You're one of the developers slash power users and you didn't think of it? Theymos, i like you personally but even you must know this stinks of shit.

If you'd like to squash this all right now... can you show us the data? the logs you're keeping to seperate funds and addresses?

Please prove me wrong.

P.S. cheers on a quick reply

There's only been one expense, so the file's not very big:
Code:
-25 BTC Sent to MtGox 2011-09-02
+212.99982 USD trade
-1.278 MtGox trade fee
=211.72182 USD 2011-09-02
-211.72 to bank account 2011-09-02

So the current balance is 1,149.41 - 25 = 1,124.41.

Bitcoin makes it easy to maintain multiple balances.. I just .. I don't get it, I guess.

Only if you create a separate wallet. I admit it would have been good to use a separate wallet, but I didn't think of it at the time. It's too late now because the sends already exist.
5669  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcointalk requesting donations? Wtf? on: January 04, 2012, 04:50:24 AM
I store the funds in my personal wallet, so the "sent" number is meaningless. I can calculate the accurate balance by subtracting all expenses (which I keep track of) from the total amount received at 17RTT...
5670  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for someone to create/modify software for this forum on: January 04, 2012, 03:25:06 AM
Do you have a time frame, theymos? Considering placing a bid, just want to be thorough.

I won't accept a bid earlier than 2 weeks from now. I want to get someone working on code before the end of the month.
5671  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for someone to create/modify software for this forum on: January 04, 2012, 12:52:51 AM
I Have Several  vBulletin Licences I Would Be Willy To Bid For 450 BTC it Has Admin, Shotbox, Premium, Themes, Message of The Day, New Announcements And Several Member Positions Inc Admin, News Team, Moderator, Premium, Private Premiuim And More Would Be Happy To Set It Up For A Additional 50BTC Would Take About 5days-1week To Fully Set Up

vBulletin alone doesn't meet most of the requirements.
5672  Other / Meta / Re: Get Donator status by donating 10 BTC on: January 04, 2012, 12:49:47 AM
I just noticed that the forum has received over 1000 BTC in donations now. Thanks a lot to everyone who has donated! I think it's really wonderful that the forum has been able to raise about 250 BTC per month with only some very small advertisements, relying largely on the generosity of users.

I'm hoping that we'll be able to attract some really good bids for creation of new forum software with the 1100+ BTC now available. If not, I might reduce the requirements or perhaps try hiring people to do smaller parts of the job. My goal is to have someone writing (good, secure) code for the new forum by the end of the month or sooner.

After the new forum software is created, I intend to end all advertising and use any future donations to improve the forum's infrastructure and legal safety in various ways, while also keeping a large percentage of donations in reserve in case of legal problems or other emergencies.

New VIP donator: pirateat40. Thanks!
5674  Other / Meta / Re: Get Donator status by donating 10 BTC on: January 03, 2012, 10:54:17 PM
Thanks. And one more question: I saw your requirements for a new forum software with "Donator" user class that won't have any marks. Does it means that it will be assigned to any donators or it means that current "Donators" will lose their additional mark above avatars ?

Current VIPs/Donators will keep their marks. My plan was to give 1-BTC donators access to the donator forum and automatic whitelisting, but no marks.
5675  Other / Meta / Re: Get Donator status by donating 10 BTC on: January 03, 2012, 08:28:35 PM
What's the price for upgrading from "Donator" to "VIP" - 40 BTC or 50 BTC ? Smiley

40

Does 5 posts mean 5 new threads, or just 5 replies within any thread?

Either.
5677  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Attack? on: January 02, 2012, 07:29:51 PM
The forum is hosted by MtGox, so having both go down at the same time isn't surprising.
5678  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Looks like the block explorer is slowing down. Would this be due to the 25 coin on: January 02, 2012, 06:20:25 AM
The site is slow? Which pages?
5679  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bets of Bitcoin - Bitcoin betting on real world events on: January 01, 2012, 09:44:55 PM
Oh, nevermind. You actually just changed the deadline of the Cain one.
5680  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcointalk requesting donations? Wtf? on: January 01, 2012, 09:29:01 PM
The job is to deliver software meeting the specifications. It seems most likely that this will be done by modifying software such as SMF or vBulletin. I'm not asking specifically for software built from scratch.
